beautiful Golden Gate Bridge from the ship.

I had a good time on the Freda B BUT I wanted to see the Sail GP race which is what was advertised as the purpose of the sail. We were so far away we could not watch the race, this was very disappointing given the $241--price for the event. On a positive note, the food was delicious, and the crew was great as well. I do plan to possibly go back for an Eco Tour. Thank you,

    KC L.

We did the Father's Day Brews on the bay that was to include three flights with food pairings. It ended up being six flights with unbelievably good gourmet food pairings that were presented beautifully and made by a chef on board.. Two of the pairings were seafood, which we're not fans of, but they were so accommodating that they made us chicken salad on baguette which was delicious. Had I known how much more food was coming I wouldn't have bothered with that because there was so much good food. All the beers were from the local Marin Headlands brewing company and were absolutely delicious. There was couples, families including some with small children so everybody is welcome on this. Can't say enough about the crew of this ship. How friendly, fun and attentive they are. We will definitely be doing more sailings with this ship.

Had a fantastic afternoon on San Francisco bay over the weekend! Gorgeous Freda B sailing across to the city, up to Golden Gate bridge, and back down towards Alcatraz before heading back to Sausalito. Started at Taste of Rome for breakfast, wandered around the marina, the Books by the Bay bookshop, and the rest of Sausalito before boarding for an afternoon on the Bay - a perfect day! Freda B's captain & crew were friendly and very adept sailors, handling Freda B around the bay in perfect weather.

I took my brother, dad and daughter out for a Boxing Day Sail and it was a perfectly gorgeous day! We were warmly greeted by the captain and the rest of the crew. We had the BEST cottage pie and salad and the bar was serving a great selection too. The boat is beautiful and the experience was wonderful! I highly recommend this for locals and tourists alike. The best part was the crew- they were so friendly and had conversations with all of us. They let my daughter haul the lines to raise the sail- great stuff! Thank you!

Great sunset sail. Great crew, and Captain chose a great path for great views. Enjoyed meeting our fellow passengers.

What a great evening we had on Freda B . For the Harvest Moon Sail. The crew its so professional, and of course Marina & Paul make you feel at home. Highly recomend it , and you cant beat the price for such a wonderful evening . Great wine choices or champagne . Convenient parking area. Arrive early so when you aboard the Schooner you have choices of getting good seats . Overall our evening was perfect, we will definetely do it again.

We had a great time on Freda B tonight it was a bit cold (due to it being February so warm coats, hats recommend) but it nothing that a blanket and a hot chocolate didn't sort out. The Freda B is beautiful and the crew are very friendly and knowledgeable. We went on a sunset tour of the bay and under the moon and the stars it was amazing, I highly recommend this experience we will definitely be doing it again in the summer.

The beautiful boat exquisitely updated and maintained

Been on board twice and each time it was magical. The companion sail alongside Tall Ship Matthew Turner was SO FUN and both boats looked absolutely gorgeous with the handsome Golden Gate Bridge as background. The 3-person crew, led by Captain Paul, were very personable and knowledgeable, and made sure we had the best experience and service. The impeccably clean bathroom was sanitized after each use! I took a day off from work and it was so worth it! Looking forward to sailing again soon!

Previously, we took the Freda B on the Wildlife Morning Sail in 2024, which was also fantastic. What makes the Freda B special is the crew. The vessel itself is gorgeous--even the "head" is great! Given my past experience (and hubris!), I signed up for the 101/103 combo course that whittles 8 days of instruction into 5 days for "experienced" sailors. Little did I know that light-wind sailing in tropical climates is NOT the same thing as sailing in the San Francisco Bay! With 20+ knots of wind, high speed ferries, massive commercial tankers and barges, recreational sailboats, racers, motor boats, fishing boats, kayak/paddle boarders and strong currents, sailing the bay is no walk in the park. Thankfully, our fearless instructor Stephen Spoja guided us through coursework both on and off the boat covering a wide range of topics -- safety, preparation, navigation, nautical rules/regulations, (lots of) terminology, docking, and local knowledge. I haven't learned so much so quickly since my first job out of college. Anyone considering learning to sail in San Francisco Bay should without a doubt sign up for classes at Modern Sailing. Plus, after completing the 103 class you gain access to chartering ("renting" in sailing jargon) one of their sailboats for your own use on the bay anytime you'd like!

Started with bagged lunches (deli sandwiches), about 25 people total in our large group (international colleagues from North/South America and Europe, minus Australia). Out of the five boats, the female captain was the race director for the day and we had to navigate the differently-colored buoys floating in the water. Not all of the boats were identical (make/model, size, age?) so there was an adjustment/differential to the final times, but all were generally recent model monohull sailboats 30-45 feet long. Grey Goose, Ry Whitt, Survivor, Liberty, and one other boat I can't recall the name of (might've been Attitude Adjustment) were our racing sailboats for the afternoon regatta, teams of 4-5. I was assigned to Liberty, a beautiful 38-foot Beneteau. Our US Coast Guard certified captain/skipper from Modern Sailing School was Bill and also served as our tactician; one of our guys took the driver role/steering to telltales, and another was in charge of the mainsail. Another took one side for the jib sail and I took the other side depending on if we needed to tack or jib (gybe), our fifth person assisted where needed with ropes/wench handles, etc. The weather was fine -- the fog lifted and the sun came out making for great views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco city skyline, the Bay Bridge, and Alcatraz. I'd done whitewater rafting and 2-person kayaking before, snorkeling and parasailing but this was my first time sailing! We had a little bit of time to practice and literally "learn the ropes" and fundamentals before the motor was turned off and the official race started at 1:00 PM. The two basic turning maneuvers/techniques with the skipper strategically navigating us through using the wind speed/direction (especially through Hurricane Gulch) and sea state/tides (smooth vs choppy water) was challenging but fun. Not only were we racing each other and trying to round our marks along the course, but there were of course other fishing boats, ferries, Hornblower cruise ships, windsurfers, and paddleboarders in the water too -- even saw a few seals! The race time on the water was around 2 hours for our team (keep in mind the boats were only traveling maybe 8 miles per hour) but lunch was included on land as well as an awards reception (beer/champagne, medals) for all of the teams afterward. We weren't first, but we weren't last either! If you're feeling "nauti" and the line where the sky meets the sea calls you, let your inner Moana/Maui try out wayfinding with the winds in your sails on the SF Bay at Modern Sailing School!
