Perfect few hours on the Bay! We got tickets through a charity auction and easily booked our sail via e-mail. Captain and crew were all friendly and welcoming and the naturalist was informative and excited to share her vast knowledge and experience. The crew intentionally included young people on board with raising the sails and such. Fun for them, and honestly fun for us to watch them learn through hands on experience. They serve up lots of beverage options during the trip, both with and sans alcohol. We went in early September and the weather was absolutely perfect. A bit chilly at first, which is to be expected, although we were able to shed a layer about halfway through. In addition to the overall gorgeousness of the Bay, we also saw lots of wildlife, mostly birds and harbour porpoises. The docking location is perfect, with nearby public parking, and lots of restaurant options if you plan to grab a bite to eat before or after your excursion. This is definitely a fun experience for both locals and visitors and something we will happily book again. read more

I had a good time on the Freda B BUT I wanted to see the Sail GP race which is what was advertised as the purpose of the sail. We were so far away we could not watch the race, this was very disappointing given the $241--price for the event. On a positive note, the food was delicious, and the crew was great as well. We did the Father's Day Brews on the bay that was to include three flights with food pairings. It ended up being six flights with unbelievably good gourmet food pairings that were presented beautifully and made by a chef on board.. Two of the pairings were seafood, which we're not fans of, but they were so accommodating that they made us chicken salad on baguette which was delicious. Had I known how much more food was coming I wouldn't have bothered with that because there was so much good food. All the beers were from the local Marin Headlands brewing company and were absolutely delicious. There was couples, families including some with small children so everybody is welcome on this. Can't say enough about the crew of this ship. How friendly, fun and attentive they are. We will definitely be doing more sailings with this ship. read more

Had a fantastic afternoon on San Francisco bay over the weekend! Gorgeous Freda B sailing across to the city, up to Golden Gate bridge, and back down towards Alcatraz before heading back to Sausalito. Started at Taste of Rome for breakfast, wandered around the marina, the Books by the Bay bookshop, and the rest of Sausalito before boarding for an afternoon on the Bay - a perfect day! Sausalito local here. I go on the Sunday morning cruises all the time. They're mellow, they're exciting, they're great. Never scary or super splashy so just be all relaxed. Not touristy whatsoever, tho if I were a tourist I would absolutely fit this into my itinerary. Go with a group, a date, by yourself, whatever. Wonderful and friendly crew. My partner and I sat at the back as the captain steered. He let us ask questions about the boat, and gave us tips on how to get into sailing. I got seasick at one point, and the crew was extremely fast to hand me some ginger beer and ginger candy, and a bucket, blanket, and bean bag. I was very comfortable and felt safe and attended to. I took my brother, dad and daughter out for a Boxing Day Sail and it was a perfectly gorgeous day! We were warmly greeted by the captain and the rest of the crew. We had a great time on Freda B tonight it was a bit cold (due to it being February so warm coats, hats recommend) but it nothing that a blanket and a hot chocolate didn't sort out. My husband and I have been on Freda B before and I wanted to go again for our 23 Wedding Anniversary. I was hesitant due to COVID 19, but I absolutely have no regrets going during this pandemic. October 2019, we did the Sunset-Full Moon sail on the Freda B. I was impressed with the professionalism of the crew and the pristine condition of the boat. October 2020, I was notified of a 3 hour cruise alongside the Mathew Turner with both boats under full sail. The Captain volunteered stories and is a wealth of nautical history and information. This was a perfect afternoon sail- on a beautiful and comfortable schooner, with a friendly and informative crew, and quality drinks. Their attention to detail was outstanding, along with their commitment to the environment- cold drinks were in wine glasses, and hot drinks in lovely ceramic mugs. I took my friends on this trip and it was in STARK contrast to the trip I took family on at San Francisco Sailing Company at Pier 39 last month, which had a sour captain who smoked the whole time, one unpleasant crew member, Bud Light in paper cups, and cramped seating. Not to mention the huge crowds at Pier 39. If you want to have a relaxing and enjoyable on a gorgeous boat, definitely make it out to Sausalito and go on the Freda B. read more

We just took the Sunday Sunset Sail, and had a great time! My 10 year old had the best time ever! The boat is lovely. We had a little trouble finding it, but we arrived in lots of time. The crew was informative and friendly. They have an onboard cash bar with wine, beer, and sodas. The day we went was hot and sunny, but once we got out on the water it definitely got cold. It's a good idea to wear layers, and good shoes. We saw a beautiful sunset, all the sights around the bay, and really enjoyed ourselves. My son e en got to be captain and steer for a few minutes. We just went on the morning eco sail on the Freda B, Captain Boscoe and his crew were solid and super helpful and friendly, Robin the naturalist from the Marine Mammal Sanctuary was a fun, friendly expert, the boat itself is beautiful and it was a stunning bright calm sailing day. We had a fantastic time, quite magical to sail out under the golden gate bridge - and we saw harbor porpoise, harbor seals, sealions, turns, pelicans, common murre and more - a breathtaking way to spend the morning - highly recommend it!! We had a wonderful time sailing on the Freda B! The crew and captain were friendly and attentive. We had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the sail. When the wind picked up they gave us blankets and we got a hot cocoa from the bar. It was a really special experience with great views- we saw the San Francisco skyline, the Golden Gate, the Bay Bridge, Angel Island, and Alacatraz. There were families and couples on board celebrating engagements, anniversaries, and birthdays. The crew answered questions about what we were seeing if we had them, but it wasn't a like a sightseeing tour where you're bombarded with facts over a loud speaker. We were given a cruise on this outstanding sailing schooner for the June Full Moon and Summer Solstice Sail event. Left the Sausalito yacht harbor at around 7pm and cruised the Bay until almost 10pm. Viewed the sunset and "Strawberry moonrise" at the same time. Wonderful views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, Angel Island, and, of course, the San Francisco skyline at sunset. The crew was outstanding and efficient, and the schooner a real experience. We would definitely recommend the experience to anyone who loves boats and San Francisco Bay. read more

We went sailing in mid April and had the best time! The crew on the ship were so accommodating, Eli offered us drinks right away and Bosco showed us around and told us the history of Schooner. We sailed to the bridge and along SF at sunset. When it got cold, the crew brought us blankets. Jimmy told us about their trip to the San Juan islands.
