We had an absolutely wonderful sail with Capt. Heather! Epic- repeat worthy and all the other adjectives you can imagine. Her gorgeous boat was a steady beaut and she offered the best blankets for our comfort. She also provides a cooler for your refreshments and small cushions for your tush. Seeing Sausalito from the sea is a delightful treat. Honestly, I love seeing ANY city from the sea. It offers a beautiful change of perspective and juxtaposition so don't hold out on yourself if there's interest. Our day was glorious. Although the fog hung close to the bridge we were still able to see the roiling clouds pass in and out of one of America's most majestic cities. The sunshine glinted off the blue, beaming bay. The waves were gentle and the sails steady... until they weren't and we turned on the engine! Modern technology is a lovely thing & it did not detract from the experience in the slightest. We had a wonderful sail with Heather on her boat with some friends. Heather figured out what we were all about and acted accordingly. If you are out for a social sail, she usually sails with just the mainsail up. This allows all aboard to spread out all over the decks. She has blankets and backrests to make everyone feel comfortable. It's still a fun sail, regardless. If you want to do some real sailing, Heather is all for it. Put up the big jib. Strap in tight. My dear friend Gabi got me this 3 hour sunset sailing excursion for my birthday in June. Our first attempt was washed out by the unpredictable early summer weather of the Bay Area. Captain Heather was very accommodating that day and allowed us to go on board her vessel to check it out for the future re-scheduling of our voyage. I got a really good vibe that day from Captain Heather and her Vessel. So, three month or so passed by and it was now Gabi's Birthday in September. I was watching the weather weekly for the perfect day and it came, September 25. We arrived and the vessel was ship shape, plus a very nice spread of cheese, fruit, crackers, chocolate and beverages was waiting for us to enjoy. She is one class act! During our sail my boyfriend and I learned about sustainable living and about how to sail. She is also very knowledgeable about the history of the area, the marine life, and health of the bay waters. I booked a half day tour with Capt. Heather for my parent's visit in SF in May 2014: what a perfect trip! We were all absolutely delighted! She is super friendly and the boat is a beauty! Plenty of room for our 4-people crew but could take more! Heather can accommodate pretty much anything, wether you prefer a quiet sail around angel island or a visit to SF to see the city up close or even go tackle the - sometimes - rough winds under the Golden Gate bridge. You can be very involved if you want (drive the boat, etc..) or just sit back and relax while you enjoy some great organic local producers' food she can order for you. Just amazing! My wife, 3 year old daughter, and I went for a morning sail with Heather; it was stellar. We relaxed on the deck, enjoyed the bay on a beautiful and sunny day, and felt completely at ease despite having no significant sailing experience. We booked Captain Richards boat for a 3 hour Father's Day sail. What a great afternoon! Even though the wind was seriously strong, Captain Richards sailed us to calm water and a really nice afternoon. Her boat was beautiful, she was full of great stories, and the snacks she provided were delicious. She was great to let my husband and children take part in sailing the boat. We booked at a 3 hour trip on July 3rd to celebrate my husbands birthday. Captain Heather is very personable and her experience put all of us first time sailors at ease. The day was beautiful and we got to see the Golden Gate Bridge up close. A big treat was seeing two humpback whales! My friend got me a 3-hour sailing excursion for my birthday, and I brought my parents and friends along for a sunset sail. This wasn't an ordinary sailing experience. The organic snacks Captain Heather prepared were delicious (I'd packed some of the same items from Trader Joe's, so right away I knew that she had good taste in snacks.). Heather provided a lot of interesting background on different boats, answered our questions, and even taught us about sailing (the mechanics of it, what it takes to get different licenses, etc.). The sunset was beautiful. However, it did get quite cold after the sun set (Heather provided a lot of blankets, but I would recommend bringing extra layers if you get cold easily, and exploring on the boat while the sun is still out. I can't say how much we enjoyed our day with Heather and her boat. I purchased a 3 hour ride for my wife's birthday and could not be happier. There was 6 of us and we fit perfectly. If you are looking for a professional and friendly captain and sailing excursion, Captain Heather and her sailboat are the best you can get. From start to finish, Heather was communicative, helpful, informative, and interesting. Safety was attended to throughout, and we loved our sail. We were a group of 6 from Denver and SF, and she kept us all comfortable. The spread she humbly presented was amazing-better noshes than most high-end places serve. Several kinds of tapenades, crackers, cheeses, sliced fruits, gourmet chocolate nuts, about 6 types of ginger ales. And, we put our goods that we brought out next to them and enjoyed all of it. We saw tons of porpoises, sea lions, seals, birds...and, we had the amazing and exhilarating experience of sailing right under the GG Bridge WHILE a huge container ship AND a speeding HELICOPTER also went UNDER the bridge at the same time. Wowza...none of us expected that! The fog, the views, the nature, and the pristine and comfortable sailboat, along with Captain Heather's ability to navigate while chatting about whatever came up...all of it was really nice. I would recommend Heather and her sailboat for family outings, romantic getaways, celebrations of any kind. This is truly an experience of a lifetime and you should do it! We went sailing with Captain Heather last week for a sunset sail around the SF Bay and had a wonderful time. The Carodon is a pretty sail boat with classic lines that was both fast in the wind and stable in the waves. The sailing cockpit is roomy and well protected from the salt spray and wind making spirited evening sailing comfortable. A supply of hats, gloves, and blankets also helped keep us warm as the sun set. The organic snacks were also fantastic and hit the spot.
