He was very communicative leading up to the day - he asked about the relative ages and abilities of our party and made sure we were prepared with what to bring and where to go. During the sail, Memo provided extra information about the surrounding cities, local history, his boat, and about the Bay waters themselves. The sail was not strenuous at all and is a great fit for a broad age range and aptitudes. Memo also provided snacks and drinks and the boat has a bathroom. We had a great experience! We took the two hour private tour. Captain Memo was very nice, friendly and knowledgeable. He was a great guide and told us a lot about sailing, boats and the buildings along the coast of SF bay. The sailing experience was amazing as we went from 5 knots to 25 and back to calmer waters through the different micro climates of the bay and saw the sunset four times!! Captain Memo provides an interesting and fun sailing experience. Even when there's little or no wind, as was our experience shortly before the past Thanksgiving, his stories about the San Francisco Bay and his affable demeanor made the three-hour cruise a load of fun. His excellent boat comes well stocked with (non-alcoholic) drinks and munchies and is very comfortable for five or six people or more. If it were possible to give Captain Memo more than 5 stars, I most certainly would. He is the most chill, down to earth skipper we have come across (from the few times that we have been sailing). We (6 of us +captain Memo) sailed out of Sausalito today which happened to be a beautiful warm sunny day with just the right amount of wind past the Golden gate Bridge, along San Francisco around Angel island and back to Sausalito. Along the way we saw Harbor Seals, porpoises, pelicans....a humpback whale (yes really!!). It was the most incredible experience for us!! Captain Memo was more than happy to explain the technicalities of sailing if you were interested or to take charge and handle everything on his own if you just wanted to kick back and relax. He had fruit, snacks drinks, a fridge, freezer (no running around to bring ice bags from Safeway), & bean bags to sit on (they are such a great idea.. During this time of COVID, it was refreshing to get out of town and head for the ocean. It was a good day for sailing and it was made perfect with Memo as our Captain. Basic Instinct is a beauty. She was much more then I was expecting. Very roomy and so much space to move around while we were anchored and sailing. The sights of San Francisco were enhanced by Memo's knowledge of the area.
