I am not often compelled to write a review. In this case I just have to share. A couple years ago I had South Beach Riggers splice an endless line - needed for an endless line furling system. It came back with a section of what appeared to be un-sheathed nylon joining the two ends. I thought "odd" but ok. After awhile I found the sheath of the rest of line bunching in the line clutches and the "joining piece" always slipping on the winch. So I went back. Not angry, not asking for my money back or anything, just "can you make a new one for me?". I was met with "we didn't do that". Ummm, yes you did. Then a rather pointless discussion basically accusing me of being a liar. Even after getting past that, when I asked for a quote, I was told "we have to come to your boat". Ummm, no you don't. I can take the endless loop off. The response, no, that's not possible. My answer? Ummm, yes it is, I have done it. (The blocks have a shackle that releases the line and clutches are a type than can come apart). So basically it was implied I was lying again. Just don't know how to respond to that. And then finally, after all that, I asked for an estimate. As I didn't know the exact length of line I needed, I was told "you are wasting our time". (All I needed was a per foot cost for the line and the splicing fee). In summary, the first experience ended up with a bad product and then when I went in just to say "can you make a better continuous line for me?" I was met with a very difficult conversation to say the least and being accused of effectively lying about getting the initial line done at South Beach Riggers. Super uncomfortable, confrontational, negative experience. I ended up splicing the line myself. read more
