Jan was very quick to reply, graciously answered all of my questions before booking, and remained in great communication throughout the entire process leading up to the date. Even when I had last minute changes of adding an additional person and pushing back the reservation time, Jan was very flexible and happy to accommodate. Prior to booking, I had seen a couple photos on Jan's website as well as photos posted by other reviewers, however, reality far exceeded my expectations. The catamaran is very roomy, plenty of space for our group of 6. Moreover, you can tell Jan keeps his catamaran well maintained--very clean! Upon realizing we were celebrating a birthday (I hadn't disclosed the purpose of this trip in our previously conversations), Jan was kind enough to gift us a ceramic bowl he had made (ceramics is his side hobby)! We took off from a dock in Richmond and brought the catamaran around Angel Island towards the Golden Gate Bridge, where we stopped and set up the sails until it was time to go back. Throughout the entire trip, Jan gave us our privacy--occasionally pointing out interesting sights on the water or along the coast. We spent half our time eating around the table, which has a roof and is opened to the outside, and half our time on the trampolines in the front of the boat. Although a bit chilly, since we went in the winter, being outside and sailing on water felt peaceful and serene! As someone that is gets carsick easily, I was apprehensive about seasickness, but the entire ride felt very smooth. Jan even pointed out the big waves beforehand so I felt prepared for any rocky motion. Moreover, none of the food/drinks we brought ever got close to spilling or sliding over the table since catamarans are so steady. Save your running gear and don't go here! I read a…read moreconcerning review prior to visiting this location with two other boats. We were three yachts, 40 feet, 41 feet, and 53 feet. I explicitly asked Greg, from the Yacht Club on the radio, If there were any underwater obstacles we should be concerned with, and he said no. He was there to guide us in on Friday, but he was not there to guide us out on Sunday. This part of the river is uncharted! I have Navionics, Garmin, and Raymarine. We followed the same track we took going in, and upon going out two out of three of us, the boat in front of me leading the way and myself, ran aground. The pile of gravel and stones is unmarked. This would've been on your port side leaving. Ironically, both boats damaged the starboard side propellor far worse than the port. This destroyed the rest of our cruise out. We had to cancel Sausalito and Saint Francis Yacht Club. We proceeded home on one engine at 8 mph, which took us 10 hours at the helm. My boat sustained both propellers damaged, and the boat leading the way also suffered both propellers damaged and a bent rudder. Whether or not the shafts are damaged is still yet to be determined. This occurred a few hundred feet from the dock. My yachting experience includes 32 years, Auxiliary Coast Guard Certified, blue water experience 10 times between San Francisco and as far South as Costa Rica and back, and 23 years navigating the Sacramento and San Joaquin River Delta. My current boat only drafts 2'10", and the tide was at 3.4 feet at the time of the incident. I have never been aground in my life, until now! The Diver that removed our propellers stated that we were not the first and won't be the last. My mechanic said the same thing! Save your boat and STAY AWAY!

Important details were overlooked, which created unnecessary stress. One major issue involved a lost cashier's check that was not handled with the level of urgency or accountability you would expect. Unfortunately, the event itself fell far below expectations. The dinner quality was poor, especially for the price, and many of our guests noticed. The yacht had no air conditioning, making the ride very uncomfortable. Guests were visibly hot and sweating, and we had to request that the upstairs plastic windows be opened just to get some airflow. The bar service was also disappointing. The cash bar was not fully stocked, and several items listed on the menu were unavailable because they had run out. Additionally, per our contract, we were supposed to use an iPhone for music, but that wasn't possible because they could not locate the connectors they said they would provide. Most frustrating of all, our cruise was cut short due to errors in the contract--errors that were never corrected or brought to our attention beforehand, so we were never given the opportunity to review or re-sign. This directly impacted the experience we paid for. After the event, I reached out to Deborah to address these issues, and I never received a response. That lack of follow-up only added to the disappointment. Overall, I feel like we were cheated out of an event that should have been epic and enjoyable. I cannot confidently recommend Empress Events based on my experience. RESPONDING TO GERRY: Gerry, thank you for responding. I appreciate your apology; however, I want to clarify that my concerns were not based on a misunderstanding or simply being upset after the event. The issue with the cruise time was not that we expected an additional hour. We understood and paid for a 3-hour cruise from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The signed contract clearly stated: Boarding at 5:45 PM, Start at 6:00 PM, End at 9:00 PM, and Disembark at 9:45 PM. We were told during the event that we had to get off the boat at 8:45 PM, which shortened the experience we paid for. I brought this concern to the Host during the event, and she went to speak with you. When she returned, she informed me that unfortunately it could not be accommodated and that we would have to get off the boat. If there was a typo or error in the contract, that should have been brought to our attention before the event and corrected with an updated contract for us to review and sign. We were never notified of any correction or given the opportunity to acknowledge and agree to a revised agreement. A signed contract should accurately reflect the services being provided. While I understand you felt everyone was having a great time, there were many issues happening behind the scenes that impacted our guests' experience. The yacht did not have air conditioning, and guests became extremely uncomfortable from the heat. People were sweating, and we had to request that the upstairs plastic windows be opened just to allow airflow. The cash bar was also disappointing. It was not fully stocked, and several items listed on the menu were unavailable because they had run out. The music arrangement included in our contract also could not be used because the connectors that were supposed to be provided could not be located. We had to use a worker's personal device, which required me to sign into Spotify to access our playlist. If that employee had not been available with his device, we would not have had music for the event. After the event, I reached out directly to address these concerns and never received a response. That lack of communication was disappointing, especially after investing so much time, money, and effort into planning what was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. I truly wanted this event to be an amazing and memorable experience for our classmates and guests. Unfortunately, the combination of planning issues, communication problems, contract concerns, and the conditions during the event left us feeling disappointed and that we did not receive the experience we paid for.

Most of the park is flat with lots of picnic grounds, including barbecues, but it also extends up into the hills behind the park with hiking trails. My boat has been in and out of a number of North Bay yards over the past 30 years, and Bay Marine is the one I trust. Each item in their work orders is either a fixed price or an accurate, reasonable estimate that they usually come in under. If additional work is needed they ask for a change order. Jaime keeps me in the loop as they work through issues. I can get at the boat 24/7 if necessary while it's in the yard. I used to get a bottle of wine along with my bill from KKMI, and it was the most expensive wine I ever got. Bay Marine has good communication, prices no higher than they have to be, and an always filled candy dish in the office. Good enough for me.

We made arrangements for me to pick up the generator at his new address (651 South 15th Street, Richmond CA 94804). At first, I wasn't sure I was at the correct location because I was looking at a dirt lot with a truck parked on it. But yes, that is where he is located. I now have what I need and know who I can count on for future service/purchases. Four stars only because he doesn't take credit cards and doesn't have an office (yet!) as he is still in the process of settling into his new location. Happy to upgrade to 5 stars when he gets it all together. Love his dogs!

His emails changed at every turn, he even went against his prior advice in past emails ? Of course this was after the sale and now I have a motor sitting unused in my garage. My motor has never touch water and now I am at a loss. I would highly warn anyone doing business with this shady character - and watch out for the sketchy dogs too !!!!! I have been in contact with Yamaha and am filing a formal complaint against this establishment
