Previously, we took the Freda B on the Wildlife Morning Sail in 2024, which was also fantastic. What makes the Freda B special is the crew. The vessel itself is gorgeous--even the "head" is great! From the moment you board and are greeted by the crew, you know you're in good hands. The safety instructions are thorough, and the crew immediately puts you at ease before setting off. Whether you have a clear night or a little fog (like tonight), the skies are beautiful, the Golden Gate Bridge is magical, and San Francisco twinkles in the distance. The crew meets your every need with kindness, excellent service, and genuine interest in you as a passenger. They're also an interesting bunch--just ask them about themselves! Hot (chocolate!) and cold beverages are available for purchase, including adult beverages. For out of towners...Wear and bring layers. Jacket + sweater/fleece, long pants, beanie hat, gloves if you have them. Blankets available onboard. This is SF Bay 12 months a year - always chilly and the sail is worth every layer of clothing. We celebrated my birthday tonight, and it was perfect. Thank you!

She was knowledgeable, insightful and entertaining. It is 3 1/2hrs and my recommendation is to wear closed toes tennis shoes/sneakers. There are areas with gravel like surface so your going to want to protect your feet. My other advice is to use the restroom close to the meeting point because there is only another public restrooms at the end of the tour. The added treat at the end of the tour was Victoria having Tea & cookies awaiting us on a beautiful setting. I have told everyone about this tour and share my pictures of the inside of the homes we were allowed into. She has a book about the history of this area and I highly recommend it. Take an afternoon calmly sauntering this world of the wooden boats and take it all in in delightful amazement.

They also explained how to disperse the rose pedals into the ocean. We had an opportunity to speak our thoughts with family and did not feel rushed at all. I planned this for my own birthday, but flying to California from Pennsylvania you obviously cannot plan the weather. The weather on October 24 was thankfully picture perfect. In fact, Adrian, our ship's captain said that it was one of the top sunsets of the entire year! It was worth every single penny! It was a cloudless sky which enabled us to view the most gorgeous sunset beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, and an almost full Hunter's moon rising over Alcatraz while the city of San Francisco gradually lit up in the background. The entire crew is kind and helpful. The boat holds about 25 people for a sail. The boat I think can actually hold more people than that, but I think that's their typical number when sailing. I just wish that there were "adults only" sails, because there were two children under age 8 aboard who were slightly unruly, not necessarily their fault, but their parent's fault. I mean, take a ferry ride or something with your little kids not a sunset cruise that serves alcohol. Anyway, we enjoyed the entire adventure immensely. You can buy beer, wine, canned cocktails, and sparkling wine aboard. Dress in layers & bring a hat & gloves & wear sturdy non-slip shoes. The views are just phenomenal. I highly recommend it!

From the first email months out, Captain Doug was a fantastic communicator. Our original plan (a friend's 40th) changed, and he graciously converted our booking into a certificate without any hassle -- that flexibility set the tone for the whole experience. Taihoa herself is something special. Doug took real time before we cast off to walk us through her history and design -- a hand-built 1940s wooden classic -- and it gave the whole day a depth you don't get on a standard charter. Once we were underway, he even let us help sail her out of the harbor and into the bay, which was genuinely the highlight for us. We had a beautiful day of sun and wind, plenty of room for four, and at no point did we feel anything but safe and well looked after. Seeing Sausalito from the sea is a delightful treat. Honestly, I love seeing ANY city from the sea. It offers a beautiful change of perspective and juxtaposition so don't hold out on yourself if there's interest. Our day was glorious. Although the fog hung close to the bridge we were still able to see the roiling clouds pass in and out of one of America's most majestic cities. The sunshine glinted off the blue, beaming bay. The waves were gentle and the sails steady... until they weren't and we turned on the engine! Modern technology is a lovely thing & it did not detract from the experience in the slightest. I have every intention of repeating our excursion with Heather. I loved it & having a female captain is way cool to boot.
