Fantastic shop! I was looking for a bottle of wine to enjoy for our evening in Coupeville and my B and B host recommended the Bayleaf. What a great find! Their (I regret that I didn't catch her name) wine knowledge was extensive! I was looking for an Oregon Pinot Noir, they had a large offering, and after a few questions, she gave the perfect bottle. She even loaned me a reidel glass in which to drink it! Back tomorrow morning for deli meats and cheeses for a picnic lunch, I'm even going to return her glass! read more

Super cute wine store with a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They offer a great selection of wine, cheese, meats, crackers and other snacks. They will build you a sandwich and/or a meat and cheese plate to enjoy on their patio (one of my favorite perches in town) or pack it up to go. Perfect place to pack up for a picnic. They also have a cold case packed with pre-made raviolis and and other goodies ready for you to take home a prepare. There is a nice selection of gift items including fun bev napkins, serving pieces and French linens that I could have get enough of. A wine club is also available as well as fun events such as Thirty Thursday's. If I lived in Coupeville I would be a regular at Bayleaf. Sadly I live 1000's of miles away but you can bet any time I'm on the island I'll find my way Bayleaf. read more

We stopped here before going on a hike for a quick bite and couldn't have been more pleased. It's a deli style place that sells a great variety of wines, cheeses, and craft beers. They seem to specialize in providing food for picnics; there was even a yelp coupon for those very things just for checking in. They have a few tables for eating in and it was such a gorgeous day we stayed outside. All of us had sandwiches and we were all deeply satisfied. I had the Francaise which was tremendous. The ham was thinly sliced and deliciously cured. The brie however was the starring attraction. It was the perfect combination of salty and creamy and melted to just the right level where it is neither runny on one end nor too solid on the other. Each bite was bursting with flavor. I'd highly recommend it even if you're just driving through. Not to mention, great views of the Sound right outside. read more

This was the one of the highest rated restaurants in this little area. And I can definitely see why. They had lovely sandwiches but we also were able to purchase wine, cheese and other goodies as we walked out the door. It doesn't look much like a restaurant but as soon as we sat and said we wanted to eat there they came over with water and utensils and plates and made sure that we were very comfy. read more

I love the low key friendly atmosphere. The staff is wonderful and approachable. And I LOVE the variety on their wines AND their cheeses. They also have this "Thirsty Thursday" every week from 5-7pm with wine flights that change every week! My wife and I had the Bayleaf cater our wedding here on Whidbey. We had peyella which i had never heard of before this. It was to die for! The cooking of it is a show in itself! We were so well taken care of by the staff at Bayleaf we will never forget this shop. We stopped in by chance for a bottle of wine and decided a picnic dinner was in order given the delicious selection of cheeses, salamis and antipastos. Highly recommend Bayleaf. My wife and I had travelled Malibu all the way up the coast to Washington and needed to stock up on delicious cheeses, wines and provisions for the rest of our trip. They were so incredibly helpful, super knowledgeable and passionate about their products and so positive, even in light of all the craziness with Covid. This place is a lovely, unexpected gem in coupeville. We stopped in for some hot sandwiches, and while they were simple, they most definitely didn't disappoint (fresh meats, cheese, mama lil's roasted red peppers). The shop has a broad assortment of wines, cheeses and meats for sale as well as plenty of interesting snacks. We enjoyed some delicious artisanal salted chocolates, blood orange dry soda, and unique biscuits. I would definitely stop by again when I'm on island. read more

Stopped here for a little snack while on our whale watching tour with the Victoria Clipper. The lady working was very delightful. My daughter and I just wanted some cheese and crackers to nibble on so she offered to make us a cheese platter. The goat cheese was by far our favorite. We wanted to bring some back with us, but didn't know how to keep it from spoiling since we weren't going to be back home for almost another 8 hours. Bayleaf is my shop to buy & order wine, as well as cheese, meats, crackers, spices, pastas, breads, spreads, oh my god I can't name everything they have. I love this place. I frequent this lovely shop at least twice a week and they make sure to tell me what I might like or what we should try. We are foodies and winees. Beth, the owner, will let me know when she is ordering my favorite cases of wine and save me a case. David made my husband's retirement party a hit! He came and cooked his fantastic paella and it was delicious. We had 125 people there and everyone wanted to take some home and raved about it. Fantastic. This little shop in Coupeville, (and another small shop in Oak Harbor) caters to, not just tourists, but to locals, and we all so appreciate that. Fantastic shop, food, wine, people, and owners. Sandwiches are decent, if maybe a little overpriced. Quality ingredients, but they are tiny. The store is weird. Most items don't seem to have prices. Bayleaf is obviously aimed at tourists, but I can't say I would recommend a fellow traveler to make this their one stop in Coupeville. read more

The Best Wine, cheese, and sandwiches ever. We had a great time sitting on the patio with some great wine and cheese, with a view you would die for. The service is excellent and the owner is hands on and is very much involved in the day to day activities at the shop. We love the baskets she makes up for us for a special occasions and holidays.
