Like a corner store on a farm. They have wine, beer and cider. Lots of food specialty items. Some meats and smoked salmon. The focus of course is the cheese. They feature their own varieties plus a few from other local creameries and farms. I thought the standouts were the Ladysmith with chive and the chipotle cheddar. Both packed a lot of flavor combined with a creamy natural and fresh cheese.

About five or six years ago my family and I drove up to Blaine Washington and noticed a sign for Samish Bay Cheese company. Nearly every time we have driven by over the past five years they have either been closed or we have been in such a rush that we couldn't make the detour. We finally got a chance to check it out! It's located about three or 4 miles off of the interstate in the small town of Bow. It's located in, what I assumed to be, the building that they actually make the cheese in. the parking lot is fairly small, but it's adequate for half a dozen cards or so. Inside is a lovely little cheese shop that really how does itself! Upon entering you'll notice, they have lots of different stuff for sale. All of it is from local merchants, including a number of different gym and preserve companies, local, honeys and herbs, local meat, including lamb, and beef, a number of different wines and beers, and finally some delicious cheese! Their cheeses range from firmer stuff like Gouda and cheddar, all the way down to very soft cheeses, like feta and a local concoction called Ladysmith. They gave us samples and everything I tried was really nice. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I'm a sucker for foods that are hard to get. We are always on the lookout for things we haven't seen before or stuff that is just physically difficult to make. Here, they had a nine year aged Gouda... You read that correctly nine year aged! This block of cheese is older than two of my children and was absolutely divine. It's on the expensive side at $70 per pound, but end of the day it's totally worth getting some to take home as this was made five years before anybody had heard of Covid! They also had an eight year aged cheddar, which was also delightful. All the prices were very reasonable, and they also carry a number of cheeses from other creamery's in the area. We picked up a couple of nice blue varieties as well as some Greek yogurt. The ladies working here were very helpful and made cheese sampling easy! All in all, this is an a spot that you must check out!

All the yumminess!!!

We were taking the scenic route to Seattle from Vancouver and we're recommended to stop at this cheese shop. It's a little off the beaten path, but a fun excursion to get to. The day we went it was raining and I was hoping we could enjoy some cheese there and then hit the road, but their set-up is mostly for take and go. They had a chair by a fire, but not for two people. They also had some seating on their porch out front, but since it was raining we didn't want to sit there. The woman helping us was nice and offered samples, but was very confused by our request to have some cheese sliced up for us to eat there. The cheese we sampled and what we paid for to take to go were all delicious. We also bought some crackers and ended up eating in our car. It's a cute little shop with assorted meats and drinks, too. Just plan to take everything home versus enjoying there.

Cheesecake.. yumm

If you are in town, you need to stop by Samish Bay Cheese. You can't miss their shop sign. All of these cheese varieties are made in their facility next door, except blue cheese. You can try their samples too. We bought Ladysmith and Gouda cheese. Ladysmith was nice and creamy. Both were so good! Oh and for all the sweet lovers, try their cheesecake which is made out of yogurt. It's not super sweet, tastes great. If you are in the mood for grilled sandwich, wine, beer, cider, you can order that too. But really, all the different cheese varieties is the key. Friendly staff, ample parking, some seating tables inside, great cheese and cheesecake. Do give it a try.

After reading an article from The News Tribune titled "5 Other Ways to do the Skagit Valley tulip Festival", I bookmarked Samish Bay Cheese as a to do while up there. So this past weekend, while driving down from Bellingham to Mt Vernon, we took the long way and swung by this cheese shop and I am so glad we did! It was way more fun than expected! Their sign is not prominent, just a painted pallet next to the road. We parked in their gravel lot and walked into their store. The store is super cute! They had more than just cheese, they had a fridge of pork and beef cuts, and some local jams as well! We walked out with: - Girl Meets Dirt Tomato Jam (locally made in the San Juan Islands) - a berry covered bleu cheese ball - a wedge of medium Gouda - a raw dog bone Loved the cheese samplings and also got to sample some cheesecake! We made a cheese platter when we got home and are very happy with our selections. The following day, we were at Ballard Farmers Market and spotted the Samish Bay Cheese stand there! So you don't have to drive to Bow to get their cheese, but definitely go by if you are in town, a gem of a shop. AND they have a map of their farm animals you can go visit! The cows are right next door to the shop and we got to watch them up close eating hay.

Honestly this place was heaven for me. Local cheese and local kombucha.. couldn't have asked for more! My favorite is the aged ladysmith cheese - if you haven't tried it, I'd suggest addicting it to the cheese board! We did the aged cheeses. That atmosphere was quiet and beautiful. We sat outside looking towards the farm. Employees are really kind and knowledgeable. As an aside, my friend disliked the salami, but I'm a vegetarian so, no reduction of a star for that. Will be back!

I finally convinced my husband to bring me here the other day. What a wonderful shop! I'm a big fan of gouda cheese so I naturally picked one of those but we did sample a couple spicy cheeses from the display. We tried a jalapeño one which wasn't very spicy but had a little kick. Then we tried a jalapeño habanero cheese that coats your whole mouth in spice for about 30 seconds before it mellows out and makes you want to try it again! I will definitely be back! The chili chive gouda is calling my name!

Very great small cheese shop on a local farm. They have a small but great variety of cheese and also some great tastings before you buy. I really enjoyed their soft cheese and a chipotle cheddar. They had extras in the shop: ice cream, cheese cake, sausage, wine, etc. They have their production next door to the shop so you can see cheese making. Got to pet the sheep & see the cows. Not too far from the freeway.

My friend and I dropped in after the tulip festival. We ordered the aged cheese plate and some Kambucha to eat on the patio. The store interior is a cute and quaint deli style joint that obviously mostly sells cheese and preserves made by Samish Bay. They also have cheese creations like Jalapeño balls etc. Additionally they have locally sourced Kombucha to my friends utter delight. The staff were very friendly and helpful in navigating their products. The cheese plate had 2-3 types of gouda and their lady smith cheese along with some Salami, tomato jam and bread. I particularly enjoyed the sharp Gouda on its own, but the creamyness of the lady smith with the bread and jam was a better combination. My favorite thing was actually the tomato jam, which I was skeptical about, but actually found quite enjoyable with its sweet and fresh tomato notes. I only disliked the salami which just seemed kind of cold and hard.

Quaint and impressive family run cheese making operation. We followed signs for a farmer's market, and they were located right next to it. Their matriarch was understandably proud of their product, and indeed, we left with some of their finer creations to snack on during our travels. The best ones were an aged Gouda, and different aged Gouda infused with chives. It's all their cows that give them the dairy to process, and they've won a lot of local awards. Cool house doggie, too. He's their mascot on shirts they sell in the store. Neat place, and great cheese...

I nearly exclusively purchase my cheese here and supplement with other cheeses from elsewhere for additional flavor and texture.

LADF has always satisfied our Swiss house hold, supplying cheeses from all around the world! I've come by and found some unique cheeses that I truly don't believe you can find other than at a speciality cheese store. There is always a line up here (even pre-COVID). They know their stuff when it comes to the taste of each cheese and recommendations. You can find everything for the perfect charcuterie board, including meats, jams, napkins, etc. too!

During covid my partner and I have gotten into something we call Cheese O Clock every second Friday where we go to Les Amis and pick three different cheeses to try for the weekend. We pair the cheeses with some good wine and add chorizo or smoked salmon and it's quite a delight! Something that's certainly been a highlight during our stays at home during these times. The service is spectacular and they all know so much about cheese I love how if a cheese I like is out of stock they'll recommend one that's equally as great to me! It's so awesome when staff now what they're selling! We go every second weekend so obviously imma gonna give them a five star! If you're in the mood for fondue, this is your go to as well! They make incredible cheese mixes that you can mix with wine and heat on your stove! If you're in the mood for olives too, look no further! Les Amis has got it all!
