The bier garten is constantly voted one of the best in the conference and depending on the time of year you visit it may be filled with cozy igloos, roaring bonfires or like today, just a awesome summer vibe. The staff are always friendly, the food gets better every time we visit and the beer is delicious! And now that they distill their own spirits, my wife is even more excited to visit Hop Lot, she even bought a tee shirt on this visit which is a very rare thing for her to do. Thanks Hop Lot!

Live review in progress…read more.. We arrived with a reservation for two. The dining room was not overly crowded. We ordered a bottle of wine quickly and had a very attentive server. 90 minutes later the bottle of wine is almost gone and our entrees are not here. I will update as we make it through the meal. Update 1: The food came out as I hit send. The cook on the meat was very correct. However, the rack of lamb came out lukewarm to room temperature. Presentation was beautiful, but seemed to be too long rested. Sides on the plate (white bean puree and the vegetables) came out to correct temp. The plate was returned and came back with the comment the puree was supposed to be chilled. Understood, but the lamb was not warm. The kitchen solution was to use a warm jus. The filet came out correct cook and great presentation. Very flavorful. Wine selection is well done and well-priced. The server, Olivia, was lovely and did a wonderful job attending to us. May come back again next time we're in town. For the first visit it wasn't spectacular, but a nice date with the Mrs. Regardless.

Worst fine dining fancy food experience ever on August 4, 2026…read more 1. The server was wearing a tank top with his armpit hair out in the wild. 2. The devilled egg's egg white was cold and the rest of the filling was weird room temperature 3. The mixed green salad was supposed to have marinated mushrooms in them, first there were none in mine. My partner's mixed green salad had one mushroom, thinly sliced, not marinated definitely. It was just a bunch of arugula with pine sprinkled on top of it. 4. The vegetable portage soup was actually good. 5. The bread was fine too 6. The tomato salad thin was basically a big slice of tomato with some other stuff on top of it. Only the pickled strawberries were good. But if you want tomato juice get that salad 7. The brannzino was a whole fish. Okay that sounds interesting and looked good. But wait, they didn't give separate plates for deboning it. Cherry on top-also took away the cutlery after the last course. So no cutlery, no plate, and no deboning skills in their regular amateur customer. That's was fun. 8. Lamb chops were under seasoned and unevenly cooked and fatty. 9. Of course didn't even bother asking for dessert. 10. They gave us some small cookies for dessert on the house. That was ok. 11. The bill was $400+ which definitely did not feel like it and safe to say never going there again.

While the tacos come with cilantro and onion and a double corn tortilla (street taco style) these are not authentic. The carnitas were bland. The salsas were just fine. The vegan options here are fantastic. I love that I can choose the Thai chili tofu as my protein, and it's actually good tofu -- firm, crispy, and flavorful instead of the usual mushy version you find elsewhere. The customization is another huge plus. You can load your tacos with far more than the standard lettuce and tomato, choosing from a variety of slaws, salsas, sauces, and toppings. My personal favorite combination is the Dirty Sauce (definitely spicy, so be warned!) with lettuce, poblanos, onions, and the corn mix. The tacos are generously sized, so 2-3 will leave you completely satisfied, and the pricing is very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. This is also a perfect place for larger groups or families. We have friends who love bringing their kids because everyone can fill out their own order form and customize exactly what they want. I have to recommend the salsa roja and chips as an app. It's easily one of my favorite salsas. It has the perfect consistency with just the right balance of spice and sweetness. We love coming here and highly recommend giving it a try. You won't be disappointed!

If you haven't tried this place...I recommend you RUN and not walk!!…read more I am vegan and I feel there are never enough reviews about vegan options, so here goes. I was traveling in the Petoskey area and of course I always seek out all vegan restaurants or restaurants with vegan options. Initially I wasn't hopeful that I'd find anything vegan in Petoskey and knew I'd starve for weekend, but I was pleasantly surprised (really surprised and happy) when I came across Happy's Taco Shop. And what was even more exciting is they have a separate vegan menu (say what)!!! Needless to say, this is where I ended up. From the moment I stepped up to the counter to first inquire if they did indeed have vegan options (the cashier very nicely said yes they do and hands me the vegan menu) and second to place my order, I was filled with excitement and anticipation to try these vegan tacos! So what did I order? I'm glad you asked . I ended up getting the Vegan Crunch Wrap Royale and the Smoked Potato Taco and OMGEEEE...both were fiyah...and for those who don't know that means they were DELICIOUS ON TOP OF DELICIOUS!!! The flavors were on point and the portion size is plentiful and I had to get a to go box! My husband knows when I like my food because I do a "happy dance" and I was indeed dancing!! Great food, great service, clean restaurant, and most of all GREAT VEGAN OPTIONS so it's 10/10 for me. I hope this is helpful for my fellow vegan peeps

My boyfriend and I both agreed that the Pollo taco was too salty, probably due to the corn nuts sprinkled on top. We split a mango margarita and it was soooo good! Great mango flavor and a tajin rim really sealed the deal. Our bartender also split the drink into two smaller glasses without us even asking! Really great service here. The interior is pretty small and there's as much seating outdoors as indoors. Sitting at the bar did feel a little cramped as servers did not have enough space to walk down the narrow isle between the bar chairs and the table chairs.

This was a casual spot with a tight bar and outdoor seating available. The service was friendly,…read morebut our main dishes took quite some time to come out. They did apologize for what it's worth. The menu was appealing with just enough offered. To start the meal, the salad ($15) was ordered. It was made up of romaine, sweet corn, radish, orange, pepitas, pickled red onion, beans, queso fresco, and a creamy citrus vinaigrette. The salad appeared very fresh with a light dressing aspect. I did not think I would like the oranges, but they were a nice touch. Everything really went well with one another. I had one of each of their tacos ($5 each). One of them was out, so I was unable to try them all unfortunately. My thoughts on each are below. All of their tortillas were homemade and of good size. They seemed to be in the middle of a street and normal size taco. Each taco was also stuffed. Pollo - This was with a chicken tinga, garlic cilantro sauce, pickled onion, corn nut, and cilantro. This was alright. For some reason, it reminded me of a curry. I suppose it was coming from the tinga flavor profile from the chicken? Not sure. Carne Asada - This came with mojo de ajo steak, smoked jalapeno crema, fingerling potato chip, pickled onion, and cilantro. This had good flavor with a nice cook on the steak. The smoked jalapeno crema was unique and tasty. Panza - This was a taco with crispy pork belly, Morita gastrique, pickled apple and jicama, chicharrónes, and cilantro. This was my favorite one. There was a sweet and spicy factor from the Morita, which was great and I really enjoyed it. The pork belly was very flavorful and was cooked ideally too. Pescado - This had a fried mahi piece, red cabbage slaw, mint, orange, avocado crema, house hot sauce, and cilantro. This was way too sweet. There was a nice fry on the mahi and of good size, but it was far too sweet for me. There needed to be more hot sauce. Shrimp - This had achiote marinated shrimp, house hot sauce, lime crema, crispy carrot, and cilantro. This was decent. There were three large shrimp present. I just was not too high on the shrimp seasoning as something threw me off. Will I go back? Yeah, I would.

I also love that they bring the food right to your table now--it's such a small change, but SO much more convenient. This place is always packed, so I'm excited to see what the vibe will be like once they get their liquor license! We always get the shrimp taco, which is easily my favorite taco on the menu. The beef & cheese is a very close second. BUTTTT... if the Crunchwrap Supreme is available, GET IT. It's a summer/seasonal item and it is PHENOMENAL. Just make sure you either bring a serious appetite or someone willing to share because this thing is MASSIVE. Possibly my favorite upgrade at the new location, though? THE HOT SAUCE SITUATION. You can grab an entire bottle and bring it to your table instead of trying to ration hot sauce into those teeny tiny little cups. As someone who needs an unreasonable amount of hot sauce with every bite, I appreciate this more than I probably should. Service is always great, too. Everyone working there is friendly, happy to help, and somehow always has a smile on their face even when the place is absolutely slammed. Happy's has officially become a Petoskey staple for us. Taste: 4.5 star - very flavorful. Really enjoyed it. Pricing: high. Ordering four tacos and one burrito bowl was more than $40 before we even added on a tip. Portions were fine for lunch but for the price, I'd say they were small. Definitely would have it again. But know that for a taco truck/stand without some extras you usually get at a sit down Mexican place (like included chips and salsa that you don't get here), it's expensive.
