Nigh-time lights allow me to enjoy my pond 24/7
    Laurie M.

I've dreamed of a large pond and waterfall in my yard for 24+ years now. I love the outdoors and I put in a small pond and tiny waterfall in my backyard by myself in 2001. I am retired now and was ready to go bigger. I decided to leave that to a professional ... but I definitely knew what I WANTED. A larger pond that was over 3 feet deep, with large waterfalls and a Tiki Hut ...and most importantly, I wanted it to look natural. Cash French, owner of Bay Area Waterscapes answered my phone call and I was immediately taken by his enthusiasm and vision. He was not my first estimate but he was hands down the most artistically qualified and I could tell he loved his job. You just don't realize how important and refreshing that part can be. He started with a sketch from me, a visit to my home and an initial quote. At first I was hesitant in what I wanted but he allowed adjustments from day 1 and as I saw how amazing the progress was I knew I wanted more. My own vision was clear from the start, but how do you get that across in a 2D sketch? Well, that is where Cash and his talent/experience comes in. I trusted his vision as I saw pictures and videos of his past work. In the end, he did not meet my expectations, he gave me a pond BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS! His workers were amazing, hard working, polite and always cleaned up before they left for the day. I live in a gated community and he was very courteous about the HOA and also my neighbors. The workers never complained about the heat in Modesto and worked extremely hard. Cash was there for all major decisions and monitored the progress with many hands-on days even though he lives an hour and a half away. We were in touch every day of the process. He asked me to go with him to the rock quarry and pick out what I liked as well. Anytime I called him with any concerns or questions he would pick up my call or answer my text messages immediately and if not, it was always within hours. You don't see that very often so that impressed me as well. The removing of grass, digging the huge hole and laying the big black liner was obviously ugly but as I watched daily, our combined vision slowly emerged to be absolutely gorgeous! I wanted a light in the pond and he put in about 15(?) lights saying he will take out any I did not want with no additional charge. He said most people want more and taking them out is easier then putting them in. Turns out I wanted them ALL even tho' I was thinking just one LOL. I spent more than I had originally intended but it kept getting so much better, I just kept adding things. So I can unequivocally say that my Turtle pond (yes, I have 6 turtles, numerous Koi and many goldfish) is now my beautiful oasis and worth every penny I spent on it! Enjoy the pictures and video I've posted and see for yourself. Thank you so much Cash!

Do Not Use This Company.....Cash is a complete scam artist. He charged me thousands of $$$ for less than 3 hours of work on a small water feature. I was unable to find anyone else at this time and just went with it assuming this was the going rate... Fast forward 6 months and my water fountain breaks again. Since Cash "fixed" it last time I'd obtained a couple other fountain repair recommendations. The gentleman that fixed it this time found Cash's handiwork. of 6 months ago, Cash secured my water pipes with electrical tape and a rope! Mind you, at the cost of thousands!! He also put a cheap IRRIGATION pump in my water feature. Please see attached picture. Cash is quite personable but beware, he is as shady as shady can be! Regarding the OWNERS reply: COMPLETE FABRICATION! You didn't rebuild anything! You moved a few rocks around to view the water feature pump, that's it, nothing more. Using electrical tape to secure a water pump is not code, thus the name electrical tape. Do you also typically use a rope to secure a pipe? It was absolutely THOUSANDS of dollars, your dishonesty and lack of integrity shines again, Cash.

Waterfall by Cash French right outside my living room window
    Robert R.

Cash French is a waterfall rockstar. He created a glorious waterfall right outside my San Francisco living room window that brings me joy and peace every day. I had actually hired someone else first, who built a leaky, not beautiful structure. Cash to the rescue! He scoped it, chose the perfect rocks, and re-built it all using underlayment, padding and pond liner so it wouldn't leak. He tweaked the water fall so it curves down over different levels into a calming stream. He also added moss, several water plants and the gnome characters and decorations we bought to bring it all alive. He did it all in 3 days, I couldn't believe it. Call him for any water feature project, he is so knowledgeable, professional and efficient! Cash, thank you so much!

Thank You Cash, Your office staff called and were really polite and efficient. And kept me up to date. Galen is very knowledgeable, hard working and fast at his job. Thank you for sending me a smart hardworking person on who is so dedicated to his work. My pond is 5-9 deep and had not been cleaned for 25 years. It now looks and smells amazing, the fish are much happier and I could not be more satisfied.

    What we started with

Cash was Amazing to work with and we got the massive waterfall my wife always wanted! As part of a full front and back yard renovation (our Covid project), we already had the tanks, pump system and hillside installed and prepared and feature boulders and rock purchased. But we were stuck on the installation, and the art and years of experience and how to put it all together, tomake it look and work great. With a short time frame, Cash was responsive, patient and creative to find a way to meet our needs. With 3 in our family, plus a helper crew of 3, plus Cash--we were able to install all the essential parts of the 7-fall waterfall in one (long) day, and start it running. Then Cash taught us how to trim out the edges and tune up the planting, etc. on our own (but stopped by when we had some questions). He was very encouraging to work with, praised the efforts and preparations we had made, and worked with and enhanced our vision to make it practical and "magical". We love it!

    LED lights change color constantly

What to do with an old, square, cement pond? Hire Bay Area Waterscapes to convert it into a gorgeous fountain! In one day Cash and his crew emptied the old pond, put in some sort of structure to hold weight, added a recirculating pump, and created this amazing sacred fountain out of petrified wood. Cash also added (at no cost) the color-changing LED lights to really spice it up at night. It has added so much serenity to our yard, both day and night. Cash is very creative and takes joy in transforming landscapes into waterscapes. Highly recommended.

The netting is there because we have a Heron who has us on his radar.

I was originally, legitimately unhappy with the installation of my pond and with the lack of communication. However, Cash did eventually call me and after some long and detailed conversations about why I was upset with him and the pond, he asked if I would allow him the opportunity to fix what went wrong because it was important to him that I was happy in the end and that I had the pond I wanted. I agreed, and two weeks later he sent his team to fix every issue I had. It certainly would have been a better journey without all the issues, but stuff happens, even to the best of us. The important thing though, is that if you do mess up, you take responsibility for it and try to fix it and Cash did that. I am now very happy with the pond. It's what I've wanted and saved for, for a long long time. Thanks Cash, for your integrity, even more so than your talent.

    After

Fantastic transformation! We bought the house with a water feature that never worked. Cash and his crew did a wonderful job of turning a broken eyesore into a beautiful retreat. Now it's like we have our own private mountain spring!

    Tranquility

Our pond started out as a DIY project with our sons. We soon realized we were way over our heads. We had a 4 foot hole with no clue what to do next despite watching many hours of YouTube. After doing our research, we called Cash at Bay Area Waterscapes. We loved his vision and hired him. Cash let our son "help" create the pond. Our giant hole was made into an amazing pond that looks like a natural part of the landscape. Our 10 year old loves it! He goes out several times a day to check on his fish and has declared it his new homework spot. We are looking forward to enjoying our pond for years to come! We may even have a future pond designer on our hands.

We are very happy with our project and would recommend LEI because they were professional, courteous, reliable, and provided clear and upfront pricing. Documenting decisions in writing proved helpful for keeping everyone on the same page. Any problems we had were resolved fairly, such as correcting the direction of our stairs. Aaron is a man of his word but prefers to conduct most of his business through texting. We first contacted LEI and they promptly scheduled a time to visit our property with YPG to see what was possible within the budget we set out. We completed the design with YPG and LEI scheduled a time for the project demolition. A later approximate time for planting was set, but that was dependent on the availability of the various plants we had selected. Everything scoped in the design was completed within the budget and any add-ons we later requested were priced separately and fairly.

After deciding to remove our pool, we hired Aaron as the installer for our new landscape project, and we are so glad we did. For months, work was moving forward almost every day, from demolition prep and grading to hardscape, planting, irrigation, lighting, fencing, pergola installation, pebble work, and the finishing touches. The quality of the work was excellent throughout. The paver patio, carport, and front entry all turned out beautifully, and the plants, irrigation, and lighting were installed with great care. We were especially impressed by the rock and pebble work, particularly the dry creek and front mow strip. The mix of stone sizes gave everything a natural, detailed, and polished look that really elevated the final result. Aaron also has a strong eye for detail. He regularly caught things that needed adjustment, even when we had not noticed them ourselves, and he stayed focused on getting everything right. While there were some issues that delayed finishing the project, Aaron took responsibility and worked with us to make them right, which we truly appreciated. In the end, what matters most is that we are thrilled with the outcome. Our yard feels beautiful, welcoming, and complete, and we look forward to years of enjoying it.

We did end up tweaking some design elements to lower installation cost but overall followed her plan. Even when we asked for different plants after her main design was completed, she helped us out at no additional cost. It was a good learning experience for us and we are happy with the final result. In addition, Linda's contractor referrals helped to seamlessly complete the project process. About six years ago, we had our front yard transitioned from lawn to drought-tolerant plants, but it hadn't been thriving. With Linda's help, we were able to keep the healthier plants and incorporate their place in the yard into Linda's plan. We appreciated that as well as her suggestion to transplant many of the existing plants that didn't really fit the front yard's plan to the backyard area where they can still be enjoyed. This was a technically challenging project involving a steep hill and very mature redwood roots. Standout qualities of this company are: 1. Ease of quoting process Before coming out in person, they were able to give us a ballpark price based on dimensions, fence type, and site images. This allowed me to decide whether to move forward and I thought this was really respectful of my time. Then, Dago, the owner, came for the site visit and to discuss details. 2. No bait and switch In ironing out the details, there was some miscommunication about whether staining was included. Dago was able to meet us halfway with the price increase. This honest business style continued throughout the project and no change orders or unexpected price increases happened. 3. Detail oriented Throughout the project, we discussed details such as fence posts placement relative to tree roots, post height, etc. Dago was both available in person and by email via his assistant Maria. It was also nice to have responses confirmed in writing so that things were clear and there would be no bait and switch. 4. Personality Dago is a really nice person and I enjoy speaking with his about his geriatric dogs, etc. This also helped me not feel anxious about the project, because I felt that I could trust him. For this fence, we received multiple quotes. Two companies were in the $9-10K range, another was around $12K, and an outlier was above $20K. Dago's price was the lowest quote (with minute differences in material) and we are very glad we went with him!
