After one of the larger, impersonal, corporate process serving companies gave up on - but charged me for - trying to serve an "elusive" defendant (definitely not a stranger to being served, knows how to avoid service, won't answer the door, is self-employed, has no regular hours or pattern, etc.), I found Rui. Unbelievable. Unbelievably... BAD. TLDR; Rui may be able to deliver the results but the customer service i received on the phone is not one I would wish upon my worst enemies! It was so appalling that it makes me skeptical about the genuity of all the other so-called 5 star reviews! I usually don't write yelp reviews unless the service was exceptional. In this case, it was for the worse. The countless 5-star ratings made me very optimistic about calling in for a quote. First off, it took a whole day and two voice mails for Rui to get back to me: It was not only inconvenient but also annoying because I felt attacked by Rui, which we'll get to later, because of his inability to call back his potential clients in a timely manner. Second, Rui sounded very rude: I'm not sure if he was just having a bad day but i assumed he would have a professional attitude since he was the one that chose to call me back when he did. He responded with short snappy answers that did not make me feel welcome as a future client. Among many unnecessary questions and answers he chose to ask and give me, he asked when the court date for my case was. I told him I'm simply doing all the research up front and am willing to go to the court to file it today if necessary. Of course, I forgot it took him 3+ hours to respond to me to which he replied in a snide and snarky way, "it's too late". I asked "too late?" He responded, "yeah its too late". Very helpful Rui. It wasn't until 20 seconds later he seemed to be hinting at my irresponsibility for calling too late in the day and again, made me feel very unwelcomed. Third, Rui came off extremely condescending and belittling: Every question was met with extreme condescension and i could not bare a man like this taking care of the entire Process Serving. Not only was he condescending, but he also continued to supply information I never asked for which was also quite annoying. Fourth, Rui became extremely defensive when I mentioned other services and their competitive pricing: This is when Rui got so offended he basically wanted me off the phone. I can hear the irritation in his voice and I couldn't believe I was talking to a business who supposedly made so many people before me happy on the other side of the line. Fifth: Rui was so offended he explicitly stated something along the lines of "I refuse to give you service," and hung up. I understand Rui and his team might be "the best" and I have no problem that he charges $125 for the high quality of service he provides. But BEWARE. You might not be treated with the Yelp 5-Star rating customer service you're expected to receive from other businesses. I sure hope Rui was just having a bad day but wont EVER treat anyone else on the phone or in person like that again. read more

We filed for a small claim for the first time a year ago. After the case was opened we received letter from different process servers, picked one that we liked the most. Payed over $100. It took a guy over a week to call us and tell us that he couldn't serve the person we were suing and said that he will try again if we pay him same amount of money again. At that point we had to reopen our claim and spend more and more money, so we decided to pause the process. A couple of months ago we filed again and got letters from the same process servers.
