I rented a U-Haul truck to move to Temple Terrace about a week ago. The rude lady at the counter…read morecalled me the next morning after I'd dropped the truck off to say that I damaged the truck on the back end and I hit a yellow pole that they matched the paint up with. I said something like what are you talking about? She replied with her manager has it on video and they already let the truck go out earlier that morning and promptly hung up. I was dumbfounded because I didn't even put the truck in reverse. I pulled into their property, wheee my Uber driver, Brittany, was already there waiting on me, dropped the key through the slot and got in Brittany's car and was driven home. After complaining to U-Haul Corporate, they said they would follow up but I haven't heard from them. I still haven't seen the non-existent video. And to top it all off, I had purchased their $28 Safe Move damage waiver. So even if I had done any damage, I would have been covered. And I am not the type of person to lie about my mistakes. I will happily own them. But I do not appreciate someone falsely accusing me of something I didn't do. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Terrible people. Not sure if one of their employees damaged the truck and is trying to hide it under my contract since I had the damage waiver or what. All I know is I didn't damage the vehicle, I still have not seen the video nor been contacted by the manager/operator, Bill, nor heard anything from U-Haul. Please choose another company to help you if you have moving or storage needs. These people are clearly not on the up and up. You've been warned.

Be careful of the hidden fees, despite them touting transparency. I was hit with extra charges…read morebecause they claim my apartment was more than 100 Ft from the elevator (an extra $110) and they took away boxes I had offered them from different movers. I had planned to recycle them but the driver said he wanted them. Had I known it would be an extra $272, I wouldn't have agreed. And to top it all off, they charged me an hour extra ($159). I can't complain about the actual movers, who were fantastic, but the shady business practices are enough to make me want to warn others. I had to pay in full before they'd unload the truck, I did not get an itemized bill until I asked twice via email, and then when I questioned the extra charges, I also had to ask twice. Be wary.

The…read moreAtlanta crew was good, they helped us with packing a too small truck (our fault) but the crew we had in St. Pete, FL (C and crew from Bradenton, FL out of the Sarasota office) was awesome. They were fast (finished an hour early) and they were so pleasant. They were laughing with each other, having a great time even though the complex we moved into was kind of a headache to get around. They were so polite and careful with our items, ensuring everything was placed where we wanted it. This was our first move (out of 4 moves in 7 years) that we did not use a moving company that moved us start to finish (like packed the truck, drove it, and unloaded) and I was a little nervous about that, but all in all I'm very happy with our experience. Two moving crews in two states with a 16 ft truck FULL floor to ceiling, front to back was $1,400 (truck not included).
