I had a difficult move to make this weekend going from the second floor in my old apartment to a 3rd floor apartment across town. The gentlemen that Sam sent for the move were right on time as promised. These guys broke their backs moving my numerous boxes, couch, tv and bedroom set. Every item carefully wrapped and professionally handled. Sam was very professional and very quick to answer my questions and address any concerns regarding my move. I hope that I don't need to make a move anytime soon, but Sam's will be high on my list of people to contact if I need to. read more

***REVIEW UPDATE*** Two months later, the owner himself, Sam, contacted me on June 25th regarding my terrible experience. He stated that he absolutely had no idea any of this happened nor did his staff inform him about it. Initially, I was livid and accepted all my losses from this so no matter how much he apologized to me, it wasn't going to solve the money I spent to replace my items. However, he took full accountability for his staff and their actions and did not try to make excuses. Not only that, he financially went above and beyond to fix the issue. He was sincere and truly wanted the chance to earn my business back, therefore it was only right for me to update my review and be fair as this business owner works hard to maintain his five star ratings. I love supporting small businesses and it doesn't always turn out with great news in the end, but I'm glad that we were able to come to a mutual agreement in a respectful adult manner. The absolute WORST moving experience ever. I was moving from one bedroom apartment within the same community across the street and had everything boxed up and ready to go except for a total of 7-8 large items such as couch, coffee table and de-assembled bed parts. They called me ahead and arrived right on time which was very promising until the move started. The guy that owns the moving truck is very nice and professional, but the other worker that was with him was nice also, but he was useless and continued to be on his cell phone during this move the entire time until I started picking items up myself to speed things up. He then broke my glass on my coffee table which I was upset about but I know things happen, so I didn't make a deal since they said it will be replaced. Hours later, I noticed my dresser with a huge crack and damaged during and they left items on the truck such as a lamp, curtain rod, and led closet light that I even asked for to be double checked at the end. I had to text the guy multiple times and ask for the items that were found left on the truck. He assured me that the glass will be fixed and he will personally deliver it to me. It's been 2 WEEKS now and I have NOT received my items nor my table. He was a no show two times after promising he will deliver them back to me. Ive called over and over because I have been understanding and reasonable, and not nobody even calls back or texts back. No word on my items and that's considered theft!!!! I called the office and the manager said the owner will get in touch with me... NOTHING!!!! I would NOT recommend using them AT ALL and save yourself the headache of having to pay money to replace items they damage or forget and overcharge by doing a lazy and terribly far less move!!!!! I will update the review IF they stick to their word and bring my items back that they technically stole! read more

I have used Sam's Movers three times now. The previous two times were o.k. This time, a new set of guys showed up and weren't at all like the previous ones. First of all they were late. Most importantly, they damaged our very expensive armoire. After several attempts, I called Sam and sent him photos of the damage. I told him I was very disappointed that the mover's, led by Leroy, did not mention the damage to me before departing. Sam promised to have someone call me and come fix the damage. Leroy called several days later and said he would come fix the damage. We set a date and time, and Leroy never showed up, never called, and never answered my phone call to him. I then tried calling Sam, and got no answer. Be cautious when using this company, particularly if Leroy is involved! read more

10 out of 10 would never recommend. I had heard great things about Sam's but this was not one them. I was quoted 850.00 for 5-6 hours to move a 3 bedroom split level 2 1/2 bath into another 3 bedroom single 2 bath. The movers showed up late. I gave them a window of 11-12pm they did not show until 2pm because they claim they were having truck rental problems. The movers had already done a job that day and were exhausted by the time they moved me which took 7 1/2 hours. During the move to the new house the crew went to Burger King on my time and I had to pay for that time so yeah that was included in 7 1/2 hour charge. The crew leader knew what he was doing but the other 2 people did not and it showed. One didn't speak English (which is fine) and there was a big language barrier because the boxes were labeled in English but he could not read what rooms to put them in or to see if the boxes were fragile. He had to constantly ask me what goes where because he couldn't read the labels. Not like it would have mattered anyway because the other guy paid it no mind either. Boxes where held upside down and the crew leader had to remind them to ask me where to put things. Grand total for this hot mess was 1320.00 but after I complained about being late they gave me a 120.00 credit making it a total of 1200.00. They then had the nerve to expect a tip. They seemed over worked by this point and didn't care much for my things. Since I have started to unpack so far broken glasses and furniture handled badly. I have called Sam's movers and left message about my issues but no reply. Never again! read more

Larry, Mike and Carlos were outstanding and did the job in 4 1/2 hours -- 4 bedroom house with several heirloom pieces. Larry ran the crew like clockwork. They never took a break in 93 degree FL sun. These three guys look small but don't underestimate them. They lift more than guys 2x their size and never tired. Larry is meticulously neat and made sure everything was put away. As an example, two tiny brass screws fell from one of the tables and Larry quickly found them in the truck. They took great care of all of the furniture and the house. You don't have to look further. These guys are your best choice in Tampa Bay -- very fast, super careful and extremely inexpensive. Make sure to ask for Larry's and crew. You will not regret it! read more

Just used Sam's Movers yesterday... my first experience using movers ever. Scheduling was super easy via text, and confirmed again the night before the actual move. The guys called me when they were on the way, and were a little earlier than scheduled time, which worked out perfect for me. They were very pleasant and quick, and didn't allow me to lift a finger when I asked several times if I could help (after all, that's the service I am paying for). I would definitely recommend to others to use this company. I thought the price was extremely fair since they are providing the truck as well, and no hidden added fees. Flat rate per hour is great. I used these guys two years ago for a move and the destroyed a ton of my stuff. It took over 6 months for them to give me $70 when they ruined over $300 worth of stuff - some of it was irreplaceable items that I got on my honeymoon. @Mary check all of the emails from me from February 2015 and thereafter. I recently joined yelp and I was moving again and looking for movers and saw this was listed as the top one and so I couldn't just ignore it without a review. Sam was who I spoke with and he tried to blame the problems on me. the two men who moved us complained the entire time about how much stuff we had. I just got done with my move done by Sams movers. I have moved 3 times in the last 20 years and always hired professionals. Those guys with a truck, a national company, and today with Sams. The 3 men That Sams sent were unbelievable. Courteous, professional and above all meticulous. Each piece was wrapped tight to ensure that no damage would occur., great care was taken with every box, lamp, table chair and appliance. And We didnt have to empty the drawers. My wife didnt believe it. That saved time and in the moving business time IS money! We had a stuffed 2 bedroom apt and we moved into our newly built house. Not only did they not break one thing, they did not even smudge or chip any of our homes freshly painted walls. I had heard of Sams thru word of mouth. I called, and the boss gave me s rough estimate, and the actual bill was $200 cheaper. He was so confident on the phone, it almost sounded like BS. no BS here. The first time around they were great, I Used this company again- unprofessional, rude, they broke my curtain, lamp, and dvd holder. They didn't seem to care at all about it. Hired them twice. First group was amazing! Courteous. Professional. Took great care in handling my furniture and encouraged me to maximize on what the minimum 2-hour move offered. I was so impressed I tipped each of the 3 movers well. So, I hired them again. The second group was a 1-star group. They were 45-minutes late and never called. They were neither courteous or friendly. I always tip but not as much as the first group of movers. One guy dropped my monitor (I haven't even checked it yet to see if it's working) and they did a shoddy job of putting the furniture together. Sam did a move for my boss who recently moved from Las Vegas to Clearwater. He is very easy to work with and him and his team were efficient and quick. They put down paper on the floor to no ruin our new carpets and they unpacked and set up anything we asked. They worked with us and even stored our items for a couple months until we finished up with a few other house remodeling tasks. Lee and a couple of other guys who did the moving were very efficient and wasted no time. They wrapped my couch and other furniture so nothing was damaged. We called the day of our move and someone was at our place in less than 2 hours. Straight to the point, what do you need, what's fragile & they attacked it all. We lived on the 3RD FLOOR which is horrible & not only did they move everything out with care they did it in less than 2 hours!!!! There were two people, young man & woman. I have made many moves in my lifetime but I have never had better movers! Sam's movers 'Alex, Denis and Nate' cared for me and my stuff as if I were family. They were friendly, respectful and polite with me and each other (it was nice to see that the guys were really watching out for each other, so no one got hurt moving the particularly heavy stuff). TERRIBLE. Sam's Movers lost a dining chair to my grandmother's antique dining set. I found the company extremely unprofessional in handling the lost property. I contacted them the first business day following the move and it took weeks for them to return my phone calls. Eventually, they told me that I only had three chairs to start with and that even if there were four chairs to start with Sam's Movers was not responsible for the loss. Ultimately, they offered me "$.60 on the pound" for the missing chair. I hired them for my move from Tampa to Jacksonville and I expected that they would transfer all my personal property, as agreed to and compensated for. I left Tampa with four dining chairs and arrived in Jacksonville with only three chairs. I would never use this company again and would never recommend it to anyone that values their personal property. read more

They were just moving someone in storage while I was trying to move out. I asked them the cost to move my things from storage to my home in Bradenton. I used SAMs movers for my second move a little over a month ago. The first move a few years ago with them was just okay, the second move went a lot better. The entire process was simple- You send them a text of your pickup and drop off location and you get a reply back confirming the move. The day before your move you get a call confirming everything. The guys arrived ahead of schedule and were professional. They took care with my items, wrapping anything that could get damaged. During the move I got a call from someone with the company making sure that the movers arrived and just checking in on how the guys were doing. If you'd like a reference to how much it may cost you, I paid $400( 4 hours) for two guys to move a 600 sq ft first floor one bedroom apartment to a third floor one bedroom apartment 45 minutes away. The move started off super fast but I noticed after I told them I was moving to the third floor they slowed down quite a bit ( if I was you I wouldn't voluntarily disclose this unless they ask). Although I thought the move went well overall, according to all the men in my life the move should have only taken 2.5-3 hours tops, so they may have taken advantage of me being a young female. I'll use them again in the future, but only with a male present to ensure that they're working efficiently. read more

Moved my couches and bed frame just fine , also told me i was insured with them if anything breaks than i had them move my brand new 65" Samsung curved tv which ended up broken internally when arrived to my new apartment when i called Sams movers back to explain to them what had happen i was told his movers were supposed to turn on the tv before the remove it from the first location and turn it on again before they leave after it's been moved. Neither of that was done he told me they would take care of it and it would be picked up first thing the next day , took them 3 days to pick up the Tv then they just tried to go replace it for me at bestbuy as if i couldn't just go do that my self and bestbuy refused to return it so Sams movers calls me and tells me that they have up to 90 days to replace the item and was almost trying to put the blame on me for my tv being broken. Now I'm stuck at my new apartment with no Tv. Very disappointed. read more

I have to say these guys are top-notch, efficient, and so hard-working. The 5-star review they get from me is well-deserved. We moved from one part of Tampa to another and hired Sam's to do the job. Researching different movers was a bit daunting and there are quite a few. I was disappointed with the (lack of) response from Skinny Wimp as well as MegaMovers (though Skinny Wimp was much much worse to the point I wouldn't contact them again). Sam was prompt in returning my texts and phone calls, and their "insurance policy" is also unbeatable. We scheduled the start at 9 and they arrived at about 9:05 or so. We had asked for two men and a truck, and they arrived with 3, but still charging us $99/hour. After the first few minutes, we realized how experienced and proficient Lee and his crew were, smiling and being so respectful throughout our move. They wrapped what needed to be wrapped, were all obviously strong and competent, and joked in the 3 hours it took to take care of two bedrooms, washer/dryer (sets were switched from one house to another!), living room, dining room, plus 4 large, heavy crates, a desk, 2 lounge chairs, and many more random pieces. We have moved several times (at least 7) over the past 10 years and this was the BEST MOVE EVER. Nearly all our furniture was new, and nothing at all was even remotely damaged. Would not hire them again! Not unless you are looking for a big headache! They left behind several items at our house that should have been included on their truck the day of the move. The truck was too small for the amount of goods to be moved, so our son had to come to the rescue and moved the remainder with his pick-up truck. Ugh! The worse part was the amount of damage to our furniture and breakage of glassware that Sam's had packed. Still trying to figure out how they lost parts to an antique grandfather clock that have never been found. The crowning blow is this company has failed to respond to our claim for all the damage after repeatedly calling their office and texting their supervisor many, many times over a period of two months. The best description of my move by Sams Movers is the old expression "Wham, Bam, Thank You Mam. There was the sweet talk, as he explained how he was going to assign to me the best movers and take all precautions in moving me. We started with 4 people and then one mysteriously disappeared. There was one younger person who seemed totally clueless. I had to explain to him that you don't carry a table lamp with one hand holding the bulb. This guy personally broke 2 legs off a nice desk, and damaged the hardwood floor in my house. Blanket wrapped furniture was dragged by one person and we later noticed that the corners of the blankets were worn. I later noticed damages to a mirror and cocktail table. I had two other pieces damaged. Sam offered to have someone repair it, but at this point I don't have the confidence in the people Sam would call upon to make the repairs. Sams Movers are unique in that they price their services hourly as opposed to basing the price on weight. Sam uses rental trucks so he may be a bit cheaper. If the most valuable piece of furniture you own is a television, then a Sams Movers may work for you. There are so many Ma & Pop movers in Tampa if price is your motivating factor, I would look at them as well. read more

They were on time, worked diligently, but very careful and accurate at the same time. They treated all of my things with the utmost respect.
