$2,500 in Damage, $219 in 'Compensation', This Is How Mayflower Treats Customers…read more I've moved seven times in the past fifteen years and I've used several obscure movers to get me relocated each time. It always goes poorly in one way or another. I'm single and don't have any family at all so I rely on hired muscle. I thought I'd try a big brand this time so I chose Mayflower. Surely, they would act like professionals, right? They are by far the worst movers I've ever had to work with. Mayflower and United Van Lines destroyed my $2,100 flagship Samsung TV and dropped it on the bottom right corner so bad that it crushed the corner, cracked the screen, and totally wiped out three inches of pixels on the right side. The remainder of the screen is full of defective patterns and merely displays dark shadows. It's just a 65-inch paperweight now. They also totally destroyed my dresser while attempting to set it on a dolly. It was so mangled, they had to "wrap it in two layers of shrink wrap plus a blanket to keep it in one piece". Those were the words of the young man who arrived with the delivery truck at my destination. I had already witnessed the aftermath of the destroyed dresser while loading the truck. Both the loading crew supervisor and the arriving driver admitted the dresser was ruined. I submitted airtight documentation: photos, receipts, timestamps, and they responded with a $219 settlement offer. Instead of compensation, I receive contempt. Remember the old days when companies thought the customer was always right? They would go out of their way to ensure your satisfaction? Those days are gone and Mayflower is unashamedly one of the worst offenders. They think their customers are there to be abused and exploited. They are sinister people and will not treat you well. Do not choose Mayflower or United Van Lines for your move. They fully intend to screw you by citing an obsolete law about shipping flour and corn by weight. They hit you with that and plenty of meaningless lawyer talk when you request fair compensation. They do not care about you, your business means nothing to them. They aren't concerned with customer satisfaction or loyalty. You are there to be exploited and discarded. I moved across the country to start a new life and I've literally spent all of my free time fighting with Mayflower. I feel violated, as if I've been robbed and no one cares. First they called one month before my date and said they were running late because of truck…read moreproblems. I told them it wasn't my day to move The guy said ok. Called a few hours later to say they were close to my place and would be there soon. Had to call back again to say it was not my day. I was moving 1 month away. They were sorry. Moving day they did not wrap my furniture and put a 7 inch scratch on my dining table. They left 2 big nuts and bolts laying next to my headboard and I have no idea where they go. They did put plastic around one end of my coffee table because I advised them that the top pulled up so you can eat or work on computer and it slid back down. They must have let it flip open and the screws were stripped and could not be fixed. I was only able to screw in a few screws and cannot use it because I'm afraid it will collapse. My mattress was put on upside down and being 70 it was extremely difficult for me to get it off and flip it. The one guy let me know in conversation that his first day on the job he wore flip flops. My friends were right when they said I should have cancelled them when they were a month early and called again to say they were close. I did tell them that night when I got home from work that I was really concerned about still using them. I do not and would not ever recommend them to anyone.

***REVIEW UPDATE***…read more Two months later, the owner himself, Sam, contacted me on June 25th regarding my terrible experience. He stated that he absolutely had no idea any of this happened nor did his staff inform him about it. Initially, I was livid and accepted all my losses from this so no matter how much he apologized to me, it wasn't going to solve the money I spent to replace my items. However, he took full accountability for his staff and their actions and did not try to make excuses. Not only that, he financially went above and beyond to fix the issue. He was sincere and truly wanted the chance to earn my business back, therefore it was only right for me to update my review and be fair as this business owner works hard to maintain his five star ratings. I love supporting small businesses and it doesn't always turn out with great news in the end, but I'm glad that we were able to come to a mutual agreement in a respectful adult manner. The absolute WORST moving experience ever. I was moving from one bedroom apartment within the same community across the street and had everything boxed up and ready to go except for a total of 7-8 large items such as couch, coffee table and de-assembled bed parts. They called me ahead and arrived right on time which was very promising until the move started. The guy that owns the moving truck is very nice and professional, but the other worker that was with him was nice also, but he was useless and continued to be on his cell phone during this move the entire time until I started picking items up myself to speed things up. He then broke my glass on my coffee table which I was upset about but I know things happen, so I didn't make a deal since they said it will be replaced. Hours later, I noticed my dresser with a huge crack and damaged during and they left items on the truck such as a lamp, curtain rod, and led closet light that I even asked for to be double checked at the end. I had to text the guy multiple times and ask for the items that were found left on the truck. He assured me that the glass will be fixed and he will personally deliver it to me. It's been 2 WEEKS now and I have NOT received my items nor my table. He was a no show two times after promising he will deliver them back to me. Ive called over and over because I have been understanding and reasonable, and not nobody even calls back or texts back. No word on my items and that's considered theft!!!! I called the office and the manager said the owner will get in touch with me... NOTHING!!!! I would NOT recommend using them AT ALL and save yourself the headache of having to pay money to replace items they damage or forget and overcharge by doing a lazy and terribly far less move!!!!! I will update the review IF they stick to their word and bring my items back that they technically stole!

He then pulls and parks on the curve of the street blocking traffic so a neighbor rolls her window down asking me to have him move. When I asked him to please pull back and park where he isn't blocking traffic he yells at me "No thanks, you're F'ing rude!" I told him "Sir, first off you were late." To which he yelled back "3 minutes!!!!!" Not sure what was in his wheaties this morning but that was the most unprofessional encounter I have ever had with a company trying to earn my business. They then sent us a cease and desist letter after giving them a 1 star review. Apparently this is their thing whenever a customer is upset about being overcharged or there is any kind of damage or an unhappy customer- they send a cease and desist!!!
