This was my 3rd project with Bay Area Flooring. As always the communication was clear, quality excellent and workers showed up on time. The price was also fair. They will continue to be my first call for flooring. read more

I hired this company to install a product they offered called Revotile, a click-lock floating porcelain tile. In less than a year, the grout was cracking and the tiles were shifting in one end of the bathroom. When I brought this to their attention, they said in their opinion the structural failure was caused by a shaky washing machine and possibly also affected my subfloor. They even came out to evaluate the possibility of a paid repair at my request, *but sent someone out who did not work with tile.* When he informed them that he did not work with this type of flooring, they told me they would have to send out a tile installer. (They *installed* the floor and had come out once or twice to look at it...and they didn't know it was tile?) The second installer they sent said a repair was not possible, so I decided to have the tile removed, the subfloor repaired if necessary, and vinyl sheet flooring installed. I used a different flooring contractor for the removal and replacement. Upon demolition, it was discovered that Bay Area Floors had actually used a blue Microban underlayment (designed for floating laminate or wood) directly under rigid porcelain tile. Tile requires a rigid substrate - putting it over foam causes the floor to flex, which is the real reason the tiles were shifting and the grout was cracking. (Further, there was nothing wrong with the subfloor.) I tried to contact Bay Area Floors directly regarding this, but they stopped responding to me. Because they stopped responding to me entirely, I have filed an official complaint with the California Contractors State Licensing Board (CSLB). The CSLB has opened a case and issued a formal notice to the company. So far they have ignored the board's mandatory response timeline, the deadline for which has technically just passed, but I will update this review if necessary. Be incredibly cautious when hiring this company. EDIT: The contractor response below is absolutely false. They have taken no such action or at least have not communicated with me about it. Certainly that have not "attempted to assist me in filing a claim." Furthermore, anyone can research online that Microban underlayment is both an improper underlayment for porcelain tile AND is not the underlayment stipulated by the manufacturer, Daltile, for proper installation and for warranty requirements. Please do so, then compare the photos attached with the contractor's claim that they "follow all manufacturer installation guidelines." This has nothing to do with "the flooring I chose," it has to do with the contractor's blatant disregard for industry installation standards, and both trade and manufacturer guidelines. I will not edit or respond further, this is now in the hands of the CSLB, to whom they can provide the evidence that they responded to me as he claims. read more

Bay Area Floors is the best flooring company in Santa Cruz- I'd never use Home Depot again! Such wonderful and responsive staff. As a REALTOR, I always recommend Bay Area Floors for clients, and my own home! Laura Keeley, REALTOR 831-889-3200 Laura@Davidlyng.com read more

We purchased TRUCOR® Prime Pinnacle flooring here for our 1800sf home in Soquel. Over the course of three months, David M. at the store measured our house, provided many samples of different flooring types, and created several different quotes (sorry for all the changes, David!) When the flooring arrived, a few boxes had been damaged in shipment. Without us even asking, the delivery documents described the damage and offered a refund or credit. This high level of service is the reason to choose a local vendor instead of an internet vendor. We tried getting samples from some online vendors, but it was clear those were more interested in getting our email addresses to spam us than helping us choose the right floor. Highly recommended! read more

The most important part of any project is communication. Rob and his team recently completed a 2900 square foot project in our home with great results and no issues. We were constantly informed of the next step. Rob was great at replying to any questions that I had and there were never any surprises. I would recommend them to anyone that wants to have a professional experience without any drama. Thank You to the Bay Area Floors Team! read more

Excellent and honest work. Took care of everything and on time. Would do business with again. Thank you Scott and Co.

Update: We have an old Queen Ann victorian in the Downtown area that was built in 1898. The kitchen has seen many floors over its lifetime. It had old, cracked linoleum that really needed some help. So, since I had such a great experience with Bay Area Floors at my office (see a previous review), I gave them a call again! This is a rental property. We were also on a tight timeline to turn it around to lease to new occupants. And, we wanted to upgrade the flooring for a better look and especially better durability! We decided on LVP for its durability and elegant look. And, Bay Area Floors had exactly what we were looking for, and in stock at their new Warehouse Store! No worries or delays on ordering and hoping supply chain issues would not be a problem. That was a big concern of mine. We selected one of their in-stock LVP options that perfectly fit the look of the kitchen and scheduled the installation. We only had a 2-day window when the flooring could be installed in between various other contractors. And, they would have to move an old, heavy Wedgewood stove and a large, heavy, glass-front sideboard. They accommodated us with no problem! They dropped off the materials the night before the installation. The installers showed up right on time early the next morning. They carefully unhooked and moved the stove and sideboard without a scratch on them or any other surface. I was impressed! They had to do some minor entry and subfloor repairs, prepare and install the LVP, and move the Wedgewood stove and sideboard back in and hook it back up. After finishing the installation, everything was back in place and the stove worked perfectly! (I was worried about the stove.) And, the whole area was perfectly clean like a contractor had never been there. They did it all in 1 DAY! And we were ready for the new tenants to move in on time! Thank you Bay Area Floors! You worked with us to get a job done. It was well done, beautiful, and on time. read more

Awesome 1-stop service for my remodeled floors and kitchen countertops. Professional installation and wonderful customer support (Scott/James) to go along w/ great product selection. The waterproof laminate floors are a hit and the counters were dramatically updated changing the kitchen ambiance. The value (along with the quality and craftsmanship) of this remodel has far exceeded our expectations now that the project is complete. Our water softener recently sprung a leak and dumped water all over the kitchen/dining room area of our home. The original flooring we had was a combination of vinyl and wood laminate. With the money our home insurance company gave us we decided to look around for something better than what we had. We wanted to go with tile but that was going to be ridiculously expensive. After visiting with Scott at Bay Area Floors we decided on LVP, (luxury vinyl plank). This material has the look and feel of wood but is waterproof so we wouldn't have to worry if we ever had a problem with our water softener again. This also means that you can put LVP in places you wouldn't want to put wood like the kitchen and bathrooms. Scott was very knowledgable and helpful. He walked us through the different options and brands. We finally decided on Gaia material. Scott had his team drop off the material on a Thursday and his installer called me the next day and scheduled his guys to come by on Saturday morning. A team of 3 arrived right on time at 9am and got right to work. They finished up the entire job, (over 600 sq ft.) in a single day. They even helped me put my washer and dryer back in place when they were done with the floor. I was especially appreciative of the fact that they cleaned up after themselves. I've had many other contractors in my house recently and they leave the house a mess every time. Drives me nuts. I can't recommend Scott and the people at Bay Area Floors more highly. Our floor got done quickly and professionally and at a great price. read more

Frank, Owner of Bay Area Floors, came with the highest recommendation from our designer Jessie Engelhardt, owner of @scoutdesignco who has worked with him on many jobs. From the time we met him, we liked him, and now we love him! Frank took care of us in a most particular way, from start to finish. His movers moved our furniture out, and back in when the job was done all with great care. His guys carefully sanded and refinished our Australian Cypress floors that had been installed 20 years ago, and created this amazing, beautiful floor better than ever before. Frank went over and above as some unexpected changes occurred on our end, he and Jessie worked hard to re-arrange schedules, and timelines not an easy task when you're running a company. Frank made it all work and we could not be happier. All his guys are professional, polite, hard working, clean and respectful. Thank you @scoutdesignco for recommended Frank! You were right! We got new carpet for a family room and they were very easy to work with. Everything was handled quickly and efficiently. We only had one problem when the carpet layer came to install, he needed to cut the huge roll to fit the room before bringing into the house, and since it was raining, he had to take the roll off site and take his own measurements. I would give five stars if it weren't for that. Bay Area Floors should have given him the room dimensions so he could have cut it before coming for the install. read more

If you're looking for flooring, I highly recommend that you check out Bay Area Floors. I just had all of our bedrooms done in a pre finished hardwood, and our stairs carpeted. Going into the showroom to browse, the staff did a great job of offering to help and give information, without being pushy. I felt I could take my time to figure out what I wanted, but they would be there to answer questions. They came out to the house to measure, and wrote up estimates for the different options that I was considering. When they sent crews out to get the work done, both the hardwood crew and the carpet layers were friendly and professional. They both did an excellent job of installation. They got the job done in the time they said they would, and we LOVE the results! Thank you Bay Area Floors! Hi Frank - David did our estimate. read more

We were a bit lost when it came to finding a local business to do some work at our mom's house before we put it in the market. Our real estate agent suggested Bay Area Floors. We're so happy he did. We worked with David who guided us through the process of refinishing 60 year old solid wood floors, taking up the tack strips, and repairing some water damage. The floors looked epic! Their skill was really evident when they perfectly matched two areas, the entryway and a side room with new flooring to match the rest of the house. We ended up with an unexpected additional room that needed flooring. We chose LVP. Working with David was easy because of the excellent communication between us. I have a Victorian house. To say my floor job is difficult is an understatement. We chose Gaia - Red Series Luxury Vinyl in a Herringbone pattern for our main rooms. From the minute I walked into the showroom, throughout the measuring and installation process, BAF was STELLAR. Angel and Nicholas, the main installers, took the time and care to deliver the quality work that a victorian demands. To appreciate what a great job they did --- look how tightly they were able to join my hearth and the floor boards -- no t-molds necessary to cover hurried work! I couldn't have asked for a better Sales effort (thanks Robert!) or installation process. The bid was spot on, the team showed up on the day promised, and most importantly the craftsmanship of this team is bar none. We just moved into our new home in Soquel and wanted to replace decades old carpet with hardwood flooring, as well as doing some new carpeting. Robert and team were fantastic and we are thrilled with the results. Robert was very communicative through multiple channels (phone, email, text) and was flexible with us as we had to move the install date a couple times to align with other work we were having done. The installers, Angel and Nicolas, also did a great job and went above and beyond to think through the design of how the baseboards needed to fit with new door casings we were going to put in.
