Keith was very responsive after our original tile person went MIA. Met us within a week of inquiry and fit us in his schedule. We had some major dry rot behind the drywall but his team not only repaired it, but stayed in their timeline. I got updates consistently and price was very fair. I am beyond pleased with how this turned out!

Beautiful and serene master bathroom designed and executed by Elegant Construction and Tile Works.

Our master bathroom project was a success that came to life due to the exquisite work of Elegant Construction and Tile Works golden team Keith and Martin. From initial demolition, reconstruction, design and execution the work done by Elegant Construction and Tile Works was professional, competent, with amazing attention to details and on time. The result was a spa oasis we will enjoying for the years to come. Thank you Keith and Martin for making our dream come true.

Our bathroom before the remodel. A classic example of 1970s style. Check out the homemade wood vanity and ceramic "hippie sink".

We can't say enough good things about Keith Schuler of Elegant Tile Works & Construction, and his very talented crew. They did a fantastic job on our bathroom remodel. We've received so many compliments on our bathroom - everyone notices the gorgeous tile, unusual sink, and all the lovely details. Like any responsible homeowner, we solicited three bids on our bathroom remodel. We live in a charming but small house in the Santa Cruz mountains, with only one bathroom, so getting it "done right" was a top priority. Keeping costs in control was important, as was finding a contractor we felt comfortable working with. We have remodeled several rooms in our house, so we know the challenges and benefits of working with contractors. Of the three bids we received, one was very low and came with a good dose of "well, that can't be done." One was very high, and came with contract fine print that made me wonder, "How many times has this company been sued? Will they work with me if something isn't to my satisfaction, or will they point to a paragraph in the contract?" The 3rd bid was from Elegant Tile Works & Construction. Like the story of Goldilocks, this bid was "just right". When Keith came to bid on the job, we had an almost instant feeling of "this is the guy". When his bid came in right in the middle, without a contract that only a lawyer could appreciate, we knew this was the right company. Our home was built in the 1940s, and comes with some interesting plumbing challenges. Keith and his crew worked through all of them, including the surprises that inevitably occur when you open a wall (we have "before" pictures that will make your hair stand on end). Keith listened to our concerns about moisture, cold winters, and expanding waistlines (OK, he was just being polite on that last topic). Our new bathroom is warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and beautifully lit. We wanted a Sun Tunnel, and Keith suggested one that included a vent fan, as well as a light for the evening hours. We couldn't be more pleased. The Sun Tunnel was precisely positioned, such that we get a fantastic amount of light all day. Keith's strengths include letting us know beforehand if something will cost extra, what our options are, and providing detailed information on costs. We never had to wonder how much changes were costing. - there were no surprises. And ultimately, we felt we could trust Keith to do the right thing. It was like having your best friend remodel your bathroom - we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We plan to remodel our bathroom at our weekday home in Campbell, and we will without a doubt, ask Elegant Tile Works & Construction to do the job.

Corner shelf installed just as I had asked. "Star Pattern" around drain is hardly noticeable and works great.

Elegant Tile Works (Keith Schuler and his crew) are awesome. After a rough start on our project with two contractors who quit with no explanation, we were reluctant to call another contractor and I was going to finish the work myself. My wife called Keith on a Saturday, and he showed up Sunday. After looking at what he had to work with, he agreed to do the job. I got an email that night with a bid, and a listing of the additional tile I needed to order to finish the job. I accepted the job via email, and His crew was there the next morning to start the job. I received a call on Monday morning letting me know the grout lines in one corner wouldn't line up because one wall was not plumb, so I was a little worried but relieved to know that these guys were ABLE to tell me upfront about this issue. I let them know it would be acceptable to us if the lines did not match in that one corner. Another tile contractor had estimated 2 weeks to do this install. By Saturday (the 6th day) the job was finished! The grout lines are beautiful and the tiles are all even. The glass-decoration strip was installed beautifully. The "un-matched" grout-lines are not even noticeable as they got them so close. When I had a question that I sent to Keith via e-mail, he was on-site the next day to ensure everything was up to his high standards. The previous two contractors were friends of ours, yet the Elegant Tile Works crew was so personable that my wife was more comfortable with them in our house. Those 5 star were earned through Hard work, Honesty, Reliability.

The first was to rescue us from a half-finished bathroom remodel where the original contractor abandoned the project half way through. We could find no other contractor that would touch the project, because you never know the quality of the work already done, and you are kind of assuming responsibility for it. Joe stepped in, fixed some things the previous contractor had screwed up, and finished the bathroom just in time for us to be able to celebrate Thanksgiving with the family visiting. The second time was similar. We had a water line break and it damaged the entire bathroom in the master bedroom. We were displaced from our bedroom and the house was hazardous. Joe was already booked with other projects, but was able to rearrange some of his staff and was able to start fixing the house that very day. Three weeks later, we had a beautiful bathroom. We hadn't anticipated doing another bathroom remodel, and certainly hadn't budgeted for it. Joe's price was very fair, considering the emergency nature of the project and the fact that he had to have people on overtime to help complete the job. I highly recommend JM Construction. They are life savers.

From the walk through process, to the bidding process, to the signing...it was seamless. We have never worked with a builder like this. The entire process was super professional from beginning to end. The communication was top notch and every sub that came through was kind, polite, and did the job very well. It is rare to go through such a large remodel and to not have issues pop up....but we didn't have ONE. They showed up when they said they would, they got in touch with us immediately with any issues or questions, and things were resolved on the spot. Our designer, Cody, was fabulous. She "got" my vision from the very beginning. When she did her presentation to show us the colors and design she had come up with, it was as if she saw into my head....she's amazing. She nailed it. Our project manager, Brian, was fantastic...we don't have one complaint. And bonus...they told us approximately five months to do the remodel from beginning to end...and they finished two days before the five month mark. Unheard of in this industry. We will never use another builder, it will always be SCGB for us. We are absolutely thrilled with our remodel, and the quality of work....I cannot sing their praises highly enough. If you are looking for a builder...look no further. This is THE company you want.

Rapid Remediation And Restoration - Mud Room

    Rapid Remediation And Restoration

What do you do when your cat turns on the bidet upstairs at 1 am on a stormy winter night? Well,…read moreyou wake up at 2 am to a flooded bathroom and hallway, a flooded den below the bathroom, and a flooded laundry room adjacent to the den. At least it was fresh water instead of a poopy mess. In a bathroom flood, you find the good things where you can. But it still really was an awful thing to deal with. After an initial group did the immediate remediation, and the insurance company finally got back to us, Rapid Remediation and Restoration helped us get the house back into shape. Stephen and the team helped evaluate the damage and recommend repairs. They were super responsive and highly knowledgeable. His group has been working together for years and has a great rapport with their clients. They could handle all aspects of the project with great skill. I appreciate their presence and responsiveness. They are also some of the kindest people you'll meet. They made the process less painful than it already was. We had them do the following projects: Project 1 - Backyard cement repair. We had a source of water leakage on the "high side" of our foundation unrelated to the bidet incident, but with the heavy rain, we got some water in our basement through the foundation. The cement on the side of the house was demolished and then redone to flow the water away from the house's foundation. Project 2 - Flooded den repair and improvement. It was a big lift. First, they removed all the affected drywall (ceiling and walls) and treated the wood and underlying structures for any water damage. They evaluated the impact on the bathroom subfloor through the demoed ceiling. They assessed the window structures for any additional damage since we had noticed some leaking with the recent storms. They did a gorgeous repair of the wall that was partly exposed foundation and repaired the window sealant and stucco. They installed new ceiling lights and luxury vinyl plank over the tile floor (we had some for another project on hand). I work from that room and need it dialed. Project 3 - Flooded laundry repair. Another big lift. Demoed, treated, and repaired the drywall. They leveled the floor and fixed the small causeway between the den and the laundry room so the flooring from the den repair was consistent and level. I put a picture here, and we had it painted yellow on purpose. No judgment about the color! It is so lovely to have a happy and sunny room doing laundry. It was white before - just cold and industrial. Blech. Project 4 - Bathroom upgrade. The coup de grâce. Since the flooring had to go and the bathroom was quite dated, it was on the shortlist for home improvements before the cat-bidet incident, so we just said, f-it, let's do it! Since the decision to do the bathroom was not in the original plan, we had to work under time constraints and source all available items quickly through local hardware stores. Even though almost everything was updated, the bathroom highlights were installing a pocket door and changing the second-floor window to fit in such a tricky-sized room. PSA - if you are dealing with water damage, be prepared to make many decisions quickly. Do your research and have candid conversations with your remediation team. And for goodness sake, keep the bathroom door closed so your cat doesn't hit up the bidet bar after hours. RIP Sandy. And I didn't have a "before" picture of the bathroom, but imagine a 1976 bathroom that still needed to be updated--beige and well-used.
