The owners are musicians themselves, and it really shows. They understand what makes a great venue and consistently bring in a diverse lineup of entertainment. While Flat Iron is a bar, they also allow guests under 21 to attend many of their live music events, making it an accessible spot for music lovers of all ages. Their drink selection is solid too, with sodas, beer, wine, cocktails, hard seltzers, and THC beverages available. As a locally owned and operated business, Flat Iron is one of those places that helps make Greensboro's music and arts scene special. I'll definitely be back the next time I see something on their calendar. It did seem like efforts were being made to get people in as quickly as possible while still checking IDs and completing a security check. As others have mentioned, the venue is pretty narrow. In light of recent events, I had some concerns about how to respond in case of an emergency. Those quelled eventually but it was my first thought coming in. Sound and lighting were good. The floor has just enough of a slope that I didn't feel bad about blocking someone else's view. As with most places, if you're in the front and you need to get a drink or go to the bathroom, getting back to your group is going to be next to impossible. There definitely aren't designated aisles or pathways to allow for crowd movement. Beer prices were reasonable given the venue/event. Tallboys help prevent having to return to the bar frequently. Best to go to the bathrooms upstairs as they are much larger. I'd go back to an even at Cone Denim.

The bouncers and ticket counters were all respectful, professional, and got us through the venue on time, wristbanded and without any hassle. The bartenders served drinks effectively, and overall we loved their fun twists on the flavored drinks and playing into the pop-punk theme of the night. Having everything from "Drink 182" to "Dear Tequila count me in". I had a few of their Rum 41 drinks and was not "in too deep" or disappointed with the amount of alcohol received in the drink. They served us fast and then moved on to the next customers without any problems. The staff overall seemed pretty on it, with myself noticing they dealt with some unfortunate barfage in the back smoking section quickly and without any fussing or complaining. , "Aching Back Sunday." While the staff and bartenders were also rock stars in their own right, the Band Aching Back Sunday was incredibly impressive. I've been to countless local shows, but never have I seen one band go on from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.!!! They had small 15-minute (not even) breaks in between songs and then would just start up again. We had to tap out around 11:45 as we couldn't stand for much longer but my friend who stuck around said they played a few more songs before stopping. The show started late and I still don't even know what the reason was. There was no communication. But that was then. I was so pleasantly surprised when the doors opened right on time and while we waited in line, security came around and checked everyone to expedite the process. It was smooth sailing from there, absolutely nothing negative I could say! We had a front row spot, the sound was awesome, the bands were incredible. Great venue, cool disco ball, sweet lights. Friday night I came in for the first time to see the new place and listen to a seasoned group of musicians called "Black Light Idols. " They have a varied set list focusing on music from the 70s era. They put on a very good show and they are worth enjoying whenever they play this venue. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and can make some great specialty drinks. I ordered a Dark and Stormy cocktail and my "partner in crime" ordered the Orange Crush cocktail. Both were very good. All personnel at this establishment were very kind and accommodating. Shout out to the security guard who was extremely helpful to me and the sweet receptionist who took time to get to know us a bit in between her duties. I felt very welcomed.
