I received good service from Bavarian Auto Werke. They changed the engine belt on my BMW for around $160, which is half the price that the Orland Park BMW dealership attempted to charge. Their service is quick and it's good work. They won't allow customers to sit in the waiting area, which is very inconvenient especially when you are waiting for a ride after dropping off your vehicle. Also, the receptionist stated "we don't like touching people's mask, so make sure your masks aren't hanging over the dashboard and on the gear shift. I ensured her that the car was clean and free of mask, but I felt a bit offended! She definitely needs some better customer service skills! She comes off as "nice-nasty". Anyhow, if you can get past the customer service then you will like the quality of work that this repair shop does at a great price. read more

I have been meaning to write a review for 2 years now. Decided today was the day. I have my 5series serviced here periodically when needed and they are always fair and honest. Last time included an electrical problem which is always a big question mark and unscrupulous mechanics could take advantage. After warning me it could take a lot of work, not knowing initially what the issue was from my vague description of the problem, it wound up being relatively minor, and the price was way lower than I had thought. They will tell you what is wrong, recommend items as needed and they never try to oversell you on unneeded repairs. I recommend to anyone with a BMW or Mini. Pay attention to reviews of repeat customers not someone trying to screw the honest mechanic giving quality service. read more

After purchasing a used X5 and having the local dealer service it, for a ridiculous price, I sought out to find an independent BMW repair shop. After making several calls to local shops and being told they were too busy or never returning my calls. I came in contact with Bavarian Auto Werke. Made an appointment and have had superior service. Emily is always pleasant, to work with. Setting up your appointment and Ryan, I would call him the great BMW mechanic. He has always taken the time out to explain in detail what issue my X5 is having, why it happened and what its going to take to rectify the issue. I've spent over $5000 in repairs and not once have I felt taken. I recommend, that if you have a used BMW and no warranty, Bavarian Auto Werke is the place to have your BMW serviced. What a pleasant experience. Talked about my car's issues over the phone, dropped it off after-hours and left the key in the locked mailbox, got a call the next day about what it would take to fix it, and the following day it was done. Paid over the phone, picked the car up after hours, signed some paperwork and put it back in the locked mailbox. Seriously does not get any easier. Such friendly and honest people. Quality work. Ryan has been servicing my car for the past several years and has been great. Ryan and Emily are a fantastic team. Emily is very friendly and receptive when I call for questions or an appointment and Ryan is a wizard with BMW's. I have used them twice once for a 330xi and the last time for a 535xi and both times he had a thorough diagnosis the same day I dropped them off not the customary next day most shops need. Like other reviewers I drive a considerable distance to their shop but after reading countless horror stories about local BMW shops service and prices I feel its well worth it. I have a 7 series that has a number of issues; not wanting to pay dealer pricing I decided to take to Bavarian Auto Werke. I called first to obtain estimates for all of the repairs that I needed; also so I could comparison shop. I took the car and some of the repairs were made; I asked about scheduling the most expensive repair and was told that they wouldn't honor the price that they had quoted; when I asked Ryan about it I was told essentially that he had enough customers and that if I didn't like it I could go somewhere else. I'm not one who appreciates such ARROGANCE when I'm trying to spend my hard earned dollars, nor do I appreciate any service provider refusing to honor pricing they've quoted. I moved up to Northbrook, IL. I tried to find someone to work on my BMW up here. I've been to two dealerships and a private mechanic who specializes in BMWs. Maybe Ryan,and his wife, raised my expectations so hi that nobody else can match them. I had bad run in after another. I will drive over an hour each way to just to have this family work on my car. They are both polite, friendly, and I have NEVER gotten my car back without it fixed. I have never had to call him back to tell him that I am still having issues. I have always felt that his prices were fair. I felt that he treated me professionally and made me feel confident in his abilities. IF you have a BMW, take it to these guys. Far cheaper than the dealership and he knows far more than any other mechanic. For the record, they are 7-0. I have three BMWs. Seven major repairs and no complaints. inutes ago **ZERO STARS** I feel compelled to make everyone aware of the practices at this repair shop. They advertise 40% lower repair than dealer charges. A direct quote from Ryan the owner, " A mark up of 30% is industry standard on parts". After a new High-pressure fuel pump and $2600, Ryan told me I need a new engine. I found an engine at Specialized German of California, for $5500, that had free shipping and no sales tax. Emily, Ryan's wife told me that they cannot install an engine that I purchased and that they had to purchase their own. They chose an engine with 48,000 miles on it at a purchase price of $7410 plus sales tax, plus labor at $3500 plus $500 incidentals. I asked for the VIN number to research this and they did not get back to me for two days. I asked again and they gave me the VIN # 5UXFF0C53ALT75914. This is the very same engine that I picked from Specialized German parts in California, however the mileage was actually 78,000 not 48,000 like they said. And the price was $5500 (free shipping and zero sales tax) not $7410. So they were overcharging me $2500, a 45% mark up, not their usual 30%. When I told him I wasn't comfortable doing business with them they made my wife load the engine parts into the car by herself before towing the car. Emily was continually rude, they lied about the mileage on the engine, and they overcharged us thousands. Please do your homework and look up the actual part costs, and verify which parts they are using.
