Ask the Community - Probst Collision

Hi. My son had a small front end collision. I need an estimate. I got one up here (near Naperville) and I felt it was high. Could I send you a copy and some pictures and could you give me your rough estimate to see if it's worth the travel? Thx

I damaged the side door mirror of my Nissan Altima, and brought it in for a quote. The staff was…read moreprofessional and provided me with a great price for the part and service. The repair was done really fast and great quality work. I definitely recommend this place.

I returned to Crash Champions after a previous positive experience, but unfortunately, this…read moreexperience was completely different. Although the repair work was done well, the repeated delays, lack of communication, and unprofessional behavior from my assigned technician, Jesse, made this experience extremely frustrating. I dropped my car off in end September and was told the process would take approximately two weeks. My original estimated completion date was October 14. After the deadline passed, I contacted the shop on October 16 and was told repairs were taking longer, with a new completion date of October 23. On October 23 i had called again for an update, Jesse told me the repairs and paintwork were finished and only calibration remained. He said calibration would be completed on October 23 or 24, and my car would be ready Monday. However, when I contacted the shop Monday morning, I learned calibration still had not been done, despite my car having been ready for that step for several days. I was paying out of pocket for a rental throughout these delays. Jesse acknowledged that calibration delays were an ongoing issue at this location, with vehicles sometimes sitting two to three days waiting for it. I did inform Jessie I was snot happy with his communication while my car was in the shop, that I felt I had to repeatedly reach out for more in depth updates versus the generic texts messages I was receiving. When I picked up my car, we noticed a possible color discrepancy on the bumper and asked about a missing clip Jesse had previously promised to replace. He claimed he had not replaced it because he was being rushed and blamed us, despite my only pushing for a firm deadline after multiple missed completion dates. During the inspection, Jesse rolled his eyes, scoffed, made condescending remarks when simply asking appropriate questions regarding the repairs. My husband became upset and cursed at him, and I attempted to de-escalate the situation and apologized for my husband's language. I do not condone his reaction, but Jesse's dismissive attitude had been present from the beginning of the interaction, before my husband reacted. My biggest disappointment was not the quality of the repairs, but the lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism. I repeatedly had to contact the shop for updates after promised deadlines had passed, while continuing to pay rental expenses. Customers deserve realistic timelines, proactive communication, and respectful treatment when asking reasonable questions about their vehicles. I returned because of my previous positive experience, but this has completely changed my opinion of this location. Good repair work does not excuse poor customer service. I would not recommend this location based on my experience.

They handled all the paperwork and made arrangements to have me picked up in my rental car. This is the second time I've had to bring my car in for some work. When the car was returned, I left for a family vacation during which I discovered what looked like some leftover tape on the roof of the car. I gave them a call when I got back in town and explained what I found and was asked to bring it on in. Tim had a look and had his team go to work straight away. When I got the car back, Tim apologized to me for the delay but wanted the team to wash the car before giving it back. That is top notch service!! I would highly recommend Rays for any body work they might need and have piece of mind that they work will be of the highest quality with excellent service to match.

What was even more concerning was when we finally went to pick up our vehicle, we found multiple personal items inside the car that DID NOT belong to us and were absolutely not in the vehicle when we dropped it off five months earlier. This left us with some serious questions about what was happening with our vehicle while it was in their possession. After waiting over five months for our car and dealing with the lack of professionalism along the way, finding someone else's belongings inside our vehicle was the final straw. We expected our vehicle to be handled responsibly and professionally while in their care, and unfortunately that was not our experience.

They advised me that to get into the trans and change that, they should replace the whole transmission for a couple hundred more, otherwise they couldn't guarantee the work. And they charged $150 for this "diagnosis". They wanted thousands of dollars for a new transmission, and I was stuck because I couldn't take the emissions test to renew my plates with a check engine light on. Brought it to Tony's Transmissions, and he replaced the sensor in a few days for a few hundred dollars. I can't remember the exact amount because I paid cash and it was about a year ago, but I just saw his business pop up when I was doing a search and remembered that I should have left him a review back then. He really did great work. Check engine light was off, car passed emissions, and we drove it for another year before selling it a friend for his teenage son. Car is still running strong.

Tony said they were backed up and I offered to drop it off early just in case Tony and team got some extra time, as the family had an urgent college move-in date to make :-) Tony and team got the sensor part in and quickly turned it around, including some Q/A to make sure it was stable. Pricing with parts and labor was very reasonable.
