Dr Phone Fix - iPhone Repair

    Dr Phone Fix

I have been having trouble charging my iPhone for quite a while. It would take my plugging it in…read moremore than once to get the lightning bolt on the screen indicating it was charging. Gradually it became harder and harder to get it to charge. I tried cleaning the charging port, as I learned it was called, with negligible improvement. A DuckDuckGo online search suggested that the problem might indeed be with the charging port, so I checked for a place locally to take it to be checked out. I noticed that a Dr Phone Fix branch in a Wal Mart got very good reviews. (Or rather, after a name change, Techy by Dr Phone Fix, to reflect that they work on much more than just phones). Unfortunately my wife and I don't enter Wal Marts, but I found another branch in the Tavares Winn Dixie shopping center with equally good reviews. You can call or make appointments online, but they don't discourage drop in service visits like Apple stores and the Geek Squad do these days, so I dropped by. A tech guy came out front when I went in and after quizzing me briefly on the problem, took my iPhone into the back to check it out. He returned and said it probably did indeed need a new charging port, though a problem with one of the circuit boards was also possible. Both techs had a job on so he said it might be later in the day, which was fine for me. There was brief confusion about whether I could pick it up the next day, as one of the two techs thought it was Saturday when it was Friday. We have all had days like that! He quoted me $69 if it was just the port and I left. They called later on, too late for me to pick it up, so I stopped by the next morning. The charging port had been the culprit, so I paid the pre-arranged amount and left with my iPhone in hand. It has been charging like a new phi one again ever since, so I will not hesitate to use or recommend Dr. Phone Fix in the future.

First upon arrival the place is very sketchy looking with nothing on the door but a hung up banner that was half falling down. When I walked in, I thought there was no employee but as I approached the counter I realized that the employee was dead asleep in the chair. This was in the middle of the day. I wasn't sure if I should try waking him up, so I walked back out and back in to trigger the sound of the door alarm. They don't take any form of card payment, only cash app, Zelle, or cash (definitely not suspicious at all). I didn't get a receipt and I had to ask the employee if he needed my information so that he could call me when it was ready. He seemed flustered and said it was his first day. I'm assuming the fact he just woke up didn't help. I called the owner about two hours in to ask for an update and he said it would be ready in 20 minutes. When he got to the store it was in fact not ready and took an additional 20 minutes. When I got the tablet back, the screen was "fixed" but the iPad did not work when trying to touch it. We brought it back in for the employee to say it was a "defective part". We had to wait an additional three hours for it to be corrected. I will say the owner was responsive via phone calls and yelp but that is the only positive I found. The price point is low, but there are competitors in the area that charge similar rates, I would recommend looking into those.
