First. Change the name. It's a complete embarrassment to the town. The first time I came back to Oakdale after living elsewhere for years. I pulled up to that stoplight and cringed. The place has been a place for violence and worse ever since. People fight out back. Hub for illegal things and just not a positive vibe. A Dive. Change the name to something appropriate and fun and begin a positive atmosphere. Terrible environment to even have a beer. Not recommended. read more

Ok, so this place has most certainly improved. Aubree is an amazing bartender, drinks are allowed out back (which was my gripe previously) and in the last several times I have been in not so much as a hint of trouble from anyone! They are also generally one if the only bars that are open until 2am. It's good to have someone to count on! Two new looking pool tables, a dart board, all this place is missing now is shuffleboard. Total turn around. Very deserving of this improved review. Wish they had ginger ale though! Parking is also kind of an issue. Not terrible though. Don't sweat that it's not a five star review. Those are unicorns. If you see one capture it, study it, find out what's necessary to replicate it. It's mythical! Good work guys and gals. Thanks for great service and being warm and welcoming! "The Beav" has kick ass bartenders and booty shakin music! The security has got it down so the knuckleheads don't get out of control. The drinks are cheap and most of the people are really laid back and there to have a good time. I ended up getting talked into going to see a band at this place not too long ago. The band was great, the drinks were good, and I love the atmosphere... but I could have done without the bartender with attitude from hell. This is a no nonsense bar filled with a mixture of different people. Young, old, pretentious, and the all important "Who gives a shit" people. I found the mix to be comforting. The bathroom arrangements are kind of weird. You actually have to pass through the band and wait in line for the restroom. Kinda felt like you were in "I gotta pee" spotlight. The women take dreadfully long to urinate so I opted for the mens rooms.. and to my dismay.. NO MIRROR! The horror! But I made due. Also, back smoking patio for my smoker friends. If are lucky enough you can watch a couple trashed girls get down with the ranchers..sloppily spilling their drinks on the "dance floor" and ooo so gracefully slipping and falling on their own mess. I wasn't sure if I was more entertained by the band or the beyond wasted bimbos who were clearly over served. (I heart people watching!) Went tonight to have some drinks and to celebrate a bride to be. Music was on point! But the bar was under staffed!! Bartenders were nice but very over worked. At least 15-20mins to get drinks. Centrally located for those in transit from the Bay Area to Yosemite or Dodge Ridge, and a great destination for a quick mid evening drink this past Friday. Exterior has seen better days; I would go so far to say it has been properly battered. Interior was surprisingly not as much of a dive as expected; I could see the floor and the bar wasn't covered in a mysterious film. VERY DISAPPOINTED... I came here with friends from out of town expecting for the bartender and occupants to make fun of us for taking pictures of the logo outside - completely ignored us. Ok, little disappointed at this point but not a game changer. Had heard great reviews of the dumpster out back, although due to the lack of patrons at the bar that night the restroom was never occupied. At this point my patience is running thin. I go outside for a smoke, hoping someone will do me the great honor of punching me in the nose, at least give me a little something to take home, nope. This bar is dirty. It is always humid inside from the amount of people. The staff is less than impressive and the drinks are poor quality. I would recommend H-B Saloon over this bar. read more

So I was stranded in Oakdale when my car broke down. I was stuck there for 4 days, but it gave me solace that the bartender at Battered Beaver kept my spirits up. Kacey was just too great. Not a bad place to hang out with friends. We go there because its in town. My friends and I go there just about every thursday for ladies night and most weekends again on friday or saturday. HOWEVER, the last time I was there I paid for some drinks and a pitcher with a tip and the bartender got me my drinks but forgot the pitcher. I waited awhile and reminded her of my pitcher, she said "sorry, I forgot." and then took a few other peoples orders before finishing mine. For the rest of the night whenever I ordered anything it seemed as if I was being ignored ON PURPOSE! Sure enough, later on after she took a drink order from me she said, " If you wanna know why it takes a long time for you to get your drinks its because you don't tip.' I had a good experience here. I had a lot of fun here. I was pleased with the friendly bartenders. Free pool on Tuesdays. Thats definitely a plus. The jukebox is a little pricey. Other than that its a great little bar. Especially for Oakdale. I didnt see any hostility like i read about in other reviews. read more

This place was awful. I'm 29 and just moved here and had friends in town, so we went here to grab a drink. I took a photo of the unique logo outside the glass window (a beaten up beaver very classy) to "check in" on Facebook. When we walked in, the bartender and regular drunks sitting at the bar (it was 8:30pm, pretty early) all looked pissed off clearly that I took a picture of their precious logo of a beaten up beaver (the whole purpose of unique logos is advertising and getting attention by the way) and proceeded to stare us down intensely and make comments. We all just smiled and sat down trying to ignore it. Then the trashy haggard looking bartender refused to come serve or acknowledge us, and laughed blatantly about it with the other idiots. She even walked right in front of us for no reason, then walked back to the other end and was cracking up. We stayed 15 minutes waiting, staring at the run down interior, including a stripper pole. We finally just left, with them laughing their unclassy asses off proud of their accomplishment of their lives. Good job stupid, that's probably $100 in revenue lost for the owner, plus I'm an ex server, and tip very well. It was a horrifying experience and that bartender is an embarrassment to all employees. This place is known for a super young trashy crowd, constant bar fights, and flat out trouble. The name alone says it all. You couldn't pay me to go back there. read more

I went to the Battered Beaver to see a friends band play there. It is a really nice place now. I havent been there since it was The Dugout but they really changed the place up a lot. They have DJ's on Thursday and Fridays and Live music on Saturdays. Great bartenders and a friendly environment. Not your typical dive bar. read more
