    Yummy cocktails

Very yummy! The special cocktail was so tasty, it had yuzu and egg white, I couldn't get enough of it. The Tom kah was exactly what I wanted on a cold night and the vegetarian pad Thai was also awesome. My boyfriend said the beef was cooked perfectly.

Stopped by while we were visiting Quebec city on our way home from Halifax. The restaurant we wanted to go was closed and we were really looking for some place to eat nearby. Not sure if we should be happy about the experience. Must compliment their accommodations as we did not have reservations. The servers are really nice and professional. I wish the food was as delicious; not authentic Thai taste as all. Portion sizes are way small.

Ate at the cantine because my original plan for noodles was foiled by an ironically long line at another restaurant. The photos looked promising and concept is cute but the food didn't live up to some of the raving reviews. I'm no expert on Cambodian food but I have definitely had my fair share of Thai food. Got the sandwich with tofu that was basically all bread. There was only a tiny bit of sauce at the very bottom. Even though the first option is pork, the tofu shouldn't be flavourless since it's the exact same price. The toppings: small pineapple cubes, lettuce, carrots, a few thinly sliced pickles that didn't taste like anything, and whatever else that added nothing to the sandwich. For mains, I had the Phnom Penh that was essentially a not so great Pho and not picture worthy, neither was the $13.50 price. The broth was a bit greasy (had to squeeze the lime for every drop then throw the whole thing in the bowl too), bean sprouts were raw and the noodles were finished in, at the most, 5 spoonfuls. Only positive was the 3 shrimps. Last dish was the Pad Singapore drowning in sauce and spicy even though it wasn't labelled as such on the menu I got inside. This might be good food for those who are inexperienced but not for people who know authentic Asian cuisine. I gave 2 stars because the very nice waitress with the cute tooth gap was absolutely wonderful.

Positive points: - great service, very friendly - good cocktails - good deals for 2 people - portion sizes are not too big The food itself is decent, nice flavours but not the best I've ever had. KaowPiak soup was delicious, fried wontons and pork imperial rolls also tasty. We had the Tao which was only okay (wouldn't recommend) and the Amok which was quite flavourful (recommend). If you don't do the Table d'Hote then I would skip the dessert. If you get tea it comes in a teapot with cute tiny mugs. I would go back to try other things on the menu!

This was our favorite restaurant in Quebec when we visited. My family doesn't like buttery, creamy food so this place was perfect. The food was great and pretty authentic. The decorations are pretty cool.

Loc Lac, very juicy and nicely marinated beef with tasty sides.

I've been lucky enough to come twice now while on vacation to jjacques and both times were exceptional, I also funnily enough sat at the exact same table both times. The service and staff and excellent - they give great recommendations, are funny and just make you feel taken care of. Shout-out to Nathan our waiter who spoke in EN for half the table and FR for the other half haha. He was so fun! The first time I came here was with my husband and we had a lovely dinner - the salmon blinis were our fave so I knew when I was here the second time, they were a must! The second time, there were six of us so we ordered quite a bit - we had the salmon blinis with caviar, a few oysters, the cod fritters, the prawn cocktail, the mushroom tortellini, flounder crudo, and whole fried fish - for dessert we did a cheese plate with some delicious local cheese. Everything was delicious - the whole fish is a must - the skin is so crispy and tasty - has a lot of Vietnamese flavours. The cocktails are also fabulous here - I had the Mexican Firing Squad and the Jungle Bird - both delicious and easy to drink! The room itself reminds me of a cool speakeasy bar/resto you'd find in the streets of New York City. It's hidden in an alleyway behind a very unassuming door. It's all part of the magic of the restaurant. If there is one place to go for dinner in QC, go here. We booked a reso in advance and I recommend you do this to secure your spot!

The staff were all very great in explaining everything about the menu. For example, if you want the beef Tomahawk ($145), they told you to order it now since it'll be a 45 minute wait. We started off with 24 oysters ($72) as we love oysters. They had different type of oysters and we enjoyed the east coast oysters. My favorite dishes that we ordered were the seared scallops ($42) and the Butterfish Tataki ($22). We were a bit disappointed in the Crab Rotolo ($36) as we didn't enjoy the combination of the sauce and crab. The scallops were cooked very well and we loved the sauce for the Tataki. The Vitello Tonnato ($22) and Cod Fritters ($15) were decent but not as good in comparison to our favorites. We throughly enjoyed our dinner here as we had a good time trying all the food and mocktails they offered.

Honestly, who would have thought at the beginning of this trip that blood pudding would become one of my favorite dishes? Le Bedeau's wasn't my favorite of the two that I have had but it was still really good! You know what else was good this night? The veal carpaccio and the smoked arctic char. Delicious! I wasn't a fan of the rabbit saddle or the burrata this time around due to texture and flavor combinations, respectively. We also had the magnum beaujolais which was really fruit forward and not too acidic. I enjoyed it! Would I come back? Probably! Would I come back if I'm looking for a quieter meal? Probably not.

From the gorgeous ambience to the extensive wine list and well crafted menu, you should make this your next date night spot while visiting Quebec City. We did not have a ton of time to spend here due to dinner reservations elsewhere. Even though our time was short we had an overal phenomenal experience. The bartender was so friendly and had wine suggestions ranging from Old World to wines that were from Quebec. I started off with a sparkling wine from Canada that was delicious. We also shared a few appetizers such as their burrata and olives. Everything was amazing but definitely be prepared to spend some money here. Since Quebec mostly has everything imported it can get quite pricey but definitely worth it for sure. Cheers!

The host settled us into side…read moreby side settings on one of the love seats, and suggested his own spritz cocktail-- a sweet, herbaceous concoction of red and white wines, some other things, and "no aperol!" that was reminiscent of a sophisticated birch beer. The entire menu looked irresistible, but we decided we would order 3 starters and dessert. The special appetizer was a creamy wild mushroom sauté with housemade chicken stock and a foie gras option, which we ordered. We also ordered the scallop appetizer and the charcuterie planche. Every single thing we ate was exquisite. Our host, who was also the server. brought each appetizer out as a course beginning with the scallops. They were delicious (although it would've been nice to have had one or two more scallops on there). The mushroom appetizer could have gone on forever as far as I was concerned. Truthfully, we should have stopped there. I did not realize that the charcuterie planche was really enough for four people. We ended up picking at it, but taking a lot of it home for breakfast the next day. Sadly, we did not leave room for dessert. My boyfriend had a Chardonnay from Ontario, which was sweet but paired nicely with the scallops. I had an orange wine, which I had never had before, but it was the suggestion of the host, and it was really delightful with the charcuterie. Great service, delicious food, sweet, sweet spot. Truly, I love this little restaurant, and if I lived nearby, I would be a regular.

The menu was in both french and english - a bonus! I ordered a risotto of sorts with barley that had shaved apple in it! And also one of their signature summer spritzes. The risotto surprised me - the apple shavings gave it a slight tart flavor and the squash/beets gave it a rustic taste. The menu changes with the season and I think that their chef makes unique dishes. There is also a lengthy wine and cocktail list. Highly recommend - perhaps rsvp just in case.
