Right on 3er Ave and near 10th Ave, we found this oyster bar when googling for late night eats near our AirBnb. I am happy with our choice here. This was a good intro to local Québécois. You would definitely need to know French to fully enjoy this place, because as polite and friendly as the staff members were, none of them were not comfortable enough in explaining the menu in English, but that was fine since I was to practice my French anyway throughout this week long trip. I appreciate that they at least tried. They have a small English menu for the food and a full French menu that includes the beverage and alcohol. I ordered the wild mushroom risotto and my beau ordered their Daily Pasta Special, which was ravioli with chicken-like mushroom! Both dishes had superb taste and the mushrooms tasted so much chicken that it was shocking! I always love French food because of the rich flavours and excellent service usually. They gave us plenty of bread, refilled our water and checked in on us often enough, but unfortunately when it came to paying for the bill, the server took forever to come, so I had to go up and personally asked for the bill. Otherwise, everything was better than expected. Weather was decent, so we got to enjoy the patio. Their oyster and seafood selections were unique to me and they had an extensive menu of beverages. Faster service would have preferred.

WOW! This amazing little gem of a place is 5 star across the board. Great modern quebecois cuisine, great service, and great ambiance. This was our first night in Quebec and we wanted to try modern Quebecois cuisine. We read great thing about Cendrillon, so made reservations and off we went. We arrived and were warmly greeted and taken to our table near the open kitchen's oyster bar. The decor inside is very eclectic and charming, and they also have patio dining out front. The dishes here are smallish, as you are meant to order several and share. Bigger than tapas size and wash is a little mini entre in itself...very nice concept. They also specialize in raw oysters, which I love, buy my son and wife do not, so we skipped these. They also make homemade charcuterie, and so started with that. The charcuterie plate included five different types; Copa, white ham, pepperoni, duck breast, and a pate (forgot what type). Surrounded by assorted house made picked red onion, fennel, and pickels, and each served on top of it own house made special sauce. This was the best charcuterie plate I've ever had even compared to those I had in Europe. For the share plates they had many great sounding items on the menu but my wife and I each wanted to try the quarter lobster tail and puff pastry and caviar cream sauce. So we got two of those are we got steak with cheesy mashed potatoes and red wine sauce for our son. Our lobster was simply out of this world...could not have been better. Our son loved his steak; and for the entire ride home could not stop talking about how much he loved his mashed potatoes and his broccolini with Cesar dressing. We also ordered their escargot with Parmesan and a piece of seared foie gras on top. Also super delicious. I should also mention that with each dish our waiter carefully described each dish, which unfortunately I am not doing them justice here, as I am sure I forgot half the ingredients, but nevertheless every dish was superb. We later found out that our waiter was actually one of the co-owners (Jeffery, maybe. I am terrible with names) and he founded this restaurant four years ago. The name of the restaurant is Cinderella in French and they called it this because it's a bit of a rebirth of a restaurant that used to be in this location back in the 60s. Sounds like this part of town kind of ran down and now it's experiencing a rebirth. For dessert we thought we try something different and ordered: Maple sugar tart with Maple baked bean ice cream, and a piece Maple sugar "cake" on top. The tart and the sugar cake were very tasrty, but too sweet for us. However, the ice cream was quite wonderful. (Think azuki bean ice cream, but replace the red beans and sugar with baked beans and maple syrup). We each would have liked a big scoop of it. We also had olive oil sponge cake, with a bit of maple ice cream. This was just average, nothing special here. All in all, I highly recommend you visit here, as you will be in for a great experience.

The deep fried chicken wings are very crispy and super delicious. It's also the top dish at this place

The place is not for tourists, full of local residents. The dishes are great. The cheese platter is incredible! Will come back for sure.

Beautiful new resto-bar in Limoilou! The decor is full of beautiful details and contrasts; delicate plate designs and lazer carved tables vs the concrete and brick walls. A good place to stop and grab a drink before or after your night starts/ends.

Love the space and the service. Very attentive staff and the dishes are absolutely delicious. However, I found the place a bit pricey considering the laid back appeal and very small portions.

    Sweet breads, amazing!!!!!

I've been lucky enough to come twice now while on vacation to jjacques and both times were exceptional, I also funnily enough sat at the exact same table both times. The service and staff and excellent - they give great recommendations, are funny and just make you feel taken care of. Shout-out to Nathan our waiter who spoke in EN for half the table and FR for the other half haha. He was so fun! The first time I came here was with my husband and we had a lovely dinner - the salmon blinis were our fave so I knew when I was here the second time, they were a must! The second time, there were six of us so we ordered quite a bit - we had the salmon blinis with caviar, a few oysters, the cod fritters, the prawn cocktail, the mushroom tortellini, flounder crudo, and whole fried fish - for dessert we did a cheese plate with some delicious local cheese. Everything was delicious - the whole fish is a must - the skin is so crispy and tasty - has a lot of Vietnamese flavours. The cocktails are also fabulous here - I had the Mexican Firing Squad and the Jungle Bird - both delicious and easy to drink! The room itself reminds me of a cool speakeasy bar/resto you'd find in the streets of New York City. It's hidden in an alleyway behind a very unassuming door. It's all part of the magic of the restaurant. If there is one place to go for dinner in QC, go here. We booked a reso in advance and I recommend you do this to secure your spot!

The staff were all very great in explaining everything about the menu. For example, if you want the beef Tomahawk ($145), they told you to order it now since it'll be a 45 minute wait. We started off with 24 oysters ($72) as we love oysters. They had different type of oysters and we enjoyed the east coast oysters. My favorite dishes that we ordered were the seared scallops ($42) and the Butterfish Tataki ($22). We were a bit disappointed in the Crab Rotolo ($36) as we didn't enjoy the combination of the sauce and crab. The scallops were cooked very well and we loved the sauce for the Tataki. The Vitello Tonnato ($22) and Cod Fritters ($15) were decent but not as good in comparison to our favorites. We throughly enjoyed our dinner here as we had a good time trying all the food and mocktails they offered.

We had a reservation for 6, and we got seated in a MASSIVE booth/table that could easily fit 10ppl. A little awkward but not a deal breaker. We ordered a few drinks and a bottle of wine to share among us which came out quickly with the apps. While waiting for the entrees, our wine got warm as there wasn't an ice bucket that was given to us but wouldn't matter much because we finished our drinks by the time the food came out. The entrees were not as good- combination of personal preference and the way it was cooked. For the pasta, I thought it would be noodle shaped but it was shells- kinda a disappointment. A friend ordered the pork and shrimp plate and was told it was very dry/overcooked overall. The veggies side was what we talked about after the meal with how good it was. Not sure if I'll be coming back but they do have a rotating menu so hopefully there are better dishes coming up.

We ordered the French onion soup and a classic crêpe with egg, ham, cheese, and seasonal vegetables. The French onion soup was absolutely outstanding--easily one of the best I've ever had. The crêpe was equally delicious and far better than what we typically find back home. The only options for the egg were scrambled or over-easy, which felt a bit limited. Also worth noting: no Coke Zero, but Diet Coke is available. Overall, this spot is a must-visit if you're craving authentic crêpes and exceptional French onion soup.

The meal was mostly a hit with the shredded duck savory crepes a big hit. The French Onion soup was also very delicious! The only miss was the La Cannoise, with ricotta, spinach, olives, tomato sauce, egg and pesto which was not a hit. Just a weird combination of flavors that I guess I don't find mesh well, this dish was mostly left behind. Service was really friendly and helpful.

We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.

We had: - house lemonade - the foie gras seed butter and blueberry jam app; this is served on a broiche with a large amount of foie gras and homemade roasted sunflower seed butter; this was a very flavorful and filling starter for two - Poulet de Cornouailles - cornish roasted hen (the whole bird, small); was very delicate, served on mashed turnips, topped with an artistic grilled turnip and other veggies to cover the protein, it was a great experience to taste each component of the dish and have it come together well - veal flank steak with sauce on carrot puree and bitter vegetables - dessert (which changes frequently) was an artistic experience, a spiced cake with sauce, a uniquely (not my favorite) ice cream with candied bitter citrus peel served on top of toasted granola/sweetened biscuits The serving staff was super knowledgeable and presented each course and dish when served with further explanations on the ingredients, process, as well as how to best experience the dish. Most of the staff are also LOTR fans, so there is a nice opportunity to geek out together and see the inspiration for some of the dishes. Very much recommended for a nice evening out in Quebec City.

The Buvette, Tartare, and Escargot were all also very delicious. The Buvette was tender and beefy on top of a bed of cream of corn, roasted corn and tomato caramel for a slight sweetness.
