At the end of the project, the bathroom was an improvement; the persons at the install were very friendly, helpful and understanding; they were the epitome of excellent service. We had wainscoting installed in addition to a tub, tubs around and ceiling.
However I was extremely nervous about the install since the Bath fitter office manager and person who completed the estimate did not meet my expectations for the following issues.
I called the Bath fitter office to ask how much of the glue from the old tile had to be removed in order to effectively install the wainscoting; the glue I was removing was pulling off the paper layer from the gyproc. The lady said she would check with their installers the next morning and told me not to remove any further gyproc paper since this could jeopardize the install. She said she would call me back the next day. She never returned my call; as it turned out I should have removed more glue for an smoother install. It turned out ok if you don't look too close.
We were not told by the person who completed the estimate that we did not require baseboards since silicone is used to seal the wainscoting at the floor. Consequently, we had to move the flooring on the day of install, so silicone could be applied. Because the tubs around trim creates a seam, a baseboard would not have worked anyway. Thank goodness we were able to move the flooring since there were gaps that would have been covered by the baseboard.
The size of the tubs around was extended to reduce the amount of wainscoting required. This was fine and we agreed to this, however due to the trim between the tubs around and the wainscoting, our toilet tank no longer fit and couldn't be installed. Our toilet was just fine and we had no intention of replacing it. We had to purchase a new toilet with a smaller tank; it is not near as nice as our old one. They should of noticed this problem when they suggested extending the tubs around and we would have made a decision at that time.
On the day of the estimate, we picked out the tubs around pattern and then were called about 4 weeks later to say we couldn't have that one and had to pick another. I wasn't impressed in having to choose another pattern that day. There were several in their flyer that we liked but were unable to have due to various reasons.
The shower taps are horrible to clean; they have a dull alligator like pattern on them that won't buff out and this occurred from Day 1. I wipe and polish them after each use.
The whole process with the Bath fitter office and person doing the estimate was very frustrating. In the end, their product is fine, the bathroom is improved, but I would not do it again. Their product is over priced. read more
