My husband had a reversal after 10 years in December 2019. We are now almost 12 weeks pregnant (I got pregnant in March and miscarried, so I've gotten pregnant twice since December). We are so grateful for Dr. Bastuba! He was very professional and made us feel at ease the entire process. Needless to say, he delivered on every hope and dream we had! We highly recommend him.

I am writing this as the second wife of a man that got a vasectomy when he was far too young in his 20's after having 2 kids. Dr. Bastuba met with my now husband and I regarding getting a vasectomy reversal , just a short 3 months after we met (crazy right? - I know..lol). He was so knowledge and funny and put us right at ease. The key for me was the fact that he includes in his very reasonable price the more complicated of the two surgeries (bypass). He doesn't know if the man will need this type until he goes in to look. Dr. Bastuba could have easily taken our money, performed the less complicated of the two and called it a day. I would have never gotten pregnant. His ethics, skill and humor all combine for a wonderful doctor who fulfilled my dream of being a mom to our precious baby boy. I can honestly say that I love Dr. Bastuba for playing one of the biggest parts in fulfilling my dream of being a mom. There aren't enough stars...

I…read morespent nearly five years in and out of generic OB-Gyn offices and pelvic floor physical therapy before finally making an appointment at SDSM and receiving the care and treatment that I had been longing for. I was diagnosed with Congenital Neuroproliferative Vestibulodynia at my very first appointment. I greatly appreciated the immense amount of time they give new patients not only for thorough testing but also for education. My first appointment was three hours long, one for testing, one for education with Dr. Goldstein in his office, and one with their in-house professional sex therapist. Specifically for my condition, I value their holistic approach to sexual health and medicine. Making sure their patients are not only physically healed, but since many of us -myself included- are diagnosed with sexual trauma and PTSD, they make sure we are healing mentally as well. It took Dr. Goldstein three hours to diagnose what other doctors had dismissed for five years. I cannot convey the significance of just receiving a diagnosis. This condition had left me emotionally drained for years. It ruined my wedding night because I had no idea why sex had hurt me so much. Educating me on my condition empowered me and allowed me to finally talk about my condition with confidence. All of this goodness and we haven't even covered treatment! My initial blood work showed lower levels of testosterone which can also impact sex so Dr. Goldstein opted to treat that first before moving to surgery. I really appreciated this outlook. He was in NO way pushing surgery as a money grab. If a less invasive approach could work, he took it. After a few months with the testosterone supplementation and no improvement in my condition, I was scheduled for surgery. Dr. Goldstein and his staff do a phenomenal job at preparing you for surgery. Your surgery packet explains everything from your medication regiment, cost breakdown, doctors note, to post-operation care. If asked, he will provide you with names and telephone numbers of other women who have gone through the surgery. Known as the "Vestibulodynia sisters," these women were immensely helpful and considerate to take the time out of their schedule to help other women (like myself) walk through the same process. As someone who is now listed herself to be contacted in case any future women have questions regarding the surgical procedure, I can tell you that we are ASKED to do this and give PERMISSION to Dr. Goldstein to provide our phone numbers to future patients. This is not required of us, and if someone should choose to keep their information private, SDSM would happily do so. He only provides are names and phone numbers, nothing else, and should a new patient reach out to us, it is entirely up to our own personal discretion about what health information we would like to share. Words fall short to commend each and every single woman who helped me when I was first walking through surgery. We live in such a sexually charged culture that experiencing painful sex can often feel incredibly isolating and to know I had this "sisterhood" helping me, encouraging me, and preparing me for this major surgery was so comforting. Lastly, no, they do not accept insurance . But if there is anything I've learned about our healthcare system in the last five years of realizing I had something majorly wrong with my body, it's that our healthcare system is broken. I've been better served by doctors who do not accept insurance than by ones who do. As I mentioned previously, it took Dr. Goldstein hours to do what no other doctor(s) had been able to do in YEARS. If I had just gone straight to SDSM to begin with, I would have saved myself, and my marriage, copious amounts of time and money. Medical procedures are expensive, yes. But, would I trade back the financial investment for more hours crying on my bathroom floor, panic attacks in the bedroom, and inability to look my husband in the eyes?? NEVER. Dr. Goldstein and his entire staff at SDSM gave me back my sex life, my dream of having a family, and renewed intimacy with my husband at nearly 30 years old. 10,000,000 gold stars.

It was my mistake to think my appointment was at 1:50 and that is what I noted in my planner and iphone calendar. I rarely get the time wrong by 2 hours but my appointment was actually at 3:50pm. In any event, I arrived at 1:50 and the female receptionist on the right hand side gave me a clipboard with some forms to fill out. She offered me a pen but I told her, "I have a pen." I'm squeamish about using office pens because they have germs so I carry my own pen with me. After I filled out the forms, I handed it all back to her and she said, "Oh, my pen?" I couldn't believe she already forgot that I told her I had my own pen. I said, "It's my pen," and she gave me an odd look. Almost like she didn't believe me. That was weird. She said, "Ok, have a seat and they'll call your name." I sat down and waited. And waited. I felt like too much time was passing. I also started to feel like I might have to pee but I tried to not think about it because I knew you would ask for a urine sample. After an hour, I realized that I couldn't wait and had to pee soon so I walked back up to the same clerk and asked, "Do you think they'll call me soon because I have to use the restroom soon." She looked at the list and then the clock and said something like, "Well, your appointment is for 3:50 so..." I was shocked. I said, "Wait - what? My appointment is for 3:50? I thought it was 1:50! She said, "No, it's 3:50." I said, "Well, I got here at 1:50 and you didn't say anything about my being two hours early." She said, "You just checked in early." I couldn't believe the gall she had to tell me what she thought I had done. It was ridiculous. I said, "No, I didn't check in early - I thought my appointment was at 1:50" She just looked at me like I was stupid. Yes, it was my mistake but a good receptionist would simply inform you, "Did you know your appointment is actually for 3:50?" That's what you say to a patient. Not just sign them in and make them wait two hours! I tried to remain calm and asked her, "So, I have to use the restroom, can I leave a urine sample in the restroom?" She said something about the doctors and the nurse. I asked her, "So, I have been in line waiting for an hour now. Is there any chance that I will be seen before my appointment time?" She said, "I don't know." She just annoyed me because she clearly did not care. I got annoyed and said, 'I am leaving but I will be back for my 3:50 appointment." She didn't say anything. Just gave me a look that said she didn't care. I had to pee so I went down the hall and stopped at the restroom and then I went to the store and did some shopping. I returned to their office on time and told this same clerk, "I am back for my 3:50 appointment." She just said, "Have a seat and they will call you." They called me, I saw you, and then I said that I had urinated a while ago but I thought I could give a urine sample now because I had been drinking lots of water. You said, "Ok, good -- Go do the urine sample and when you come back, I will ultrasound your bladder to see how much you've emptied..." or something to that effect. I went across the hall to the restroom and left the urine sample and returned back to the same room. As I crossed the hall, a nurse saw me and I waved so that she would know that I was ready and back in the room. She saw me and smiled. I then waited in the room for a long time. I assumed you might be seeing the next patient and then would return in 15 minutes or so. I patiently waited until about 45 minutes passed and I honestly thought you were not returning. I opened the door to the room and looked around and saw nobody and then the same nurse who smiled at me came walking down the hall. I asked her, "Is Dr. Pe coming back?" She looked puzzled and said, "No, he's not here." It seemed like she didn't know what I was doing there. It was close to 4:45pm and felt like most people had left. I told her, "Dr. Pe sent me to leave a urine sample in the bathroom and then said he was going to ultrasound my bladder..." She just looked puzzled. Then I was really mad again. I sat there and waited for nothing! What is going on here? This is a medical office. Nobody seems to know what the other person is doing?! How do you let a patient enter and sit for two hours without telling them they are two hours early for their appointment? Or, tell them to go pee and a test will be performed and then disappear? All of this is unprofessional and unacceptable. It is for all of these reasons that I have decided that I cannot return to their office. I don't recommend them at all. Read the other one-star reviews. I wrote a letter to Dr. Pe and nobody wrote back or apologized in any way whatsoever.

My Mom had surgery in May at Sharp Grossmont and one of the incision was right above her bladder, so it gave her a lot of pain which become urine retention and they had to put a catheter for her, but when she got discharged from rehab, the people there refused to remove it which was horrible, because I told them she could get infection, yet they said only a urologist can do it, finally I took her back to Sharp and had that resolved in less than 15 minutes, catheter removed, everything went back to normal. So about 2 months later, some one at the rehab called and told me they went ahead and made the appointment with Genesis for my Mom, even though I told them the catheter no longer an issue, they said just to be safe, the urologist still need to check to see if any infection presented, I mean the rehab facility didn't do a good job, and if I didn't take matter to my own hands, then my Mom situation could have been worse. Anyway forwarded to today morning, again if you don't have disabled plate you're not going to find street parking, you have to pay for parking and Genesis will not validate anything. They're located on the 3rd level of this medical group building near another hospital which I had taken my Mom here for several occasions so I knew pretty well. We got to do a bit of pre check in on the tablet, my Mom did her urine sample, we saw Doctor Erin who was super nice actually, everything came easy and fast, I told her about the incident with Jacob rehab center, and how I ended up doing, even she agreed that the people at rehab could remove the catheter, anyway what's done is done, she told me if anything abnormal happens feel free to come back. That was the entire experience I had here.
