RELUCTANTLY, I NEED TO WARN THE PUBLIC ABOUT THIS DOCTOR. Read his negative reviews and especially his history. He was disciplined by the medical board and put on 5 years probation a very heavy penalty. At his penalty hearing. He said that his prior mistake had made him a better doctor. I STRONGLY DISAGREE. I saw him for one month and he made very serious malpractice level mistakes in my care. He prescribed and pushed antibiotics for a virus.. That's why we have MRSA... because of the inappropriate over prescription of antibiotics. He recommended even pushed for me to increase a thyroid medication. When it turns out I didn't need it in the first place. He had refused to do the thyroid test that would have showed him. I didn't need it. He completely mismanaged my care for daily disabling long covid headaches. And don't get me started about his office manager. She is abrupt, arrogant and rude, less than competent, and like the incompetent doctor she works for. She thinks she knows better for the patient than the patient knows.

I filed a complaint against Dr. Kingsbury with the Medical Board of California after my father's…read moredeath. Unfortunately, the Board decided not to discipline him, but instead, said he would be sent an "educational letter" to encourage him to provide the highest level of professional care. I warned the Medical Board that if they did not discipline him, other patients would be harmed. They didn't listen. However, a few years later, Kingsbury was caught up in what was called the Medical Board's Death Certificate Project, an investigation of people who had died from prescription overdoses. According to Board documents, Kingsbury prescribed more than 400 vicodin pills to a patient in a six week period, which resulted in an overdose. I attended a Medical Board hearing in which Kingsbury tried to blame the patient for being manipulative. That argument apparently didn't work. In March of 2020, Kingsbury was given 35 months probation after being found responsible for the patient's death. Here is the Medical Board document detailing Kingsbury's probation, which will remain posted on the Board's website under his profile page: https://www2.mbc.ca.gov/BreezePDL/document.aspx?path=%5cDIDOCS%5c20200221%5cDMRAAAHL14%5c&did=AAAHL200221224800657.DID

Super anxiety ridden I called a few times with questions, they were great about answering my questions, getting back to me and never made me feel like a burden. He has super legit credentials from Sharp hospital. I went to his practice in La Mesa. He is beyond personable and does an excellent job of creating a safe space and comfortable environment for patients. He explores all options of treatments and gives solid recommendations as well as explains each option for treatment before recommending or scheduling any procedure. Most doctors are in a hurry to get you in and out, but he really wants you to understand your options. Love this about him! He genuinely cares about his patients and love what he does and it shows. His office staff are super kind and patient. They keep you informed and do a great job of communicating. I really appreciated that. How Mary manages all the patients with a positive attitude, coordinates everything, works in the Operating room and remembers everyone by name is beyond me. In reading the other reviews I was a little shocked to hear about the negative comments of others. Unfortunately people only tend to leave reviews when they have negative experiences, (hence the blank profiles with a total of 5 reviews - all negatively blasting businesses) but I was beyond blown away at the care and personalized patient experience I received from Dr. Dickinson and his staff. Also please keep in mind due to HIPPA and patients privacy I highly doubt Dr. Dickinson and his staff come on here to tell their side of those negative reviews and instead maintain their integrity and keeping patient confidentiality, again demonstrating another one of his remarkable qualities. Also, really not fair to doctors who have their businesses on yelp. Nonetheless, I think it's safe to say you're in the hands of someone who cares and is qualified. I would recommend him to anyone, family or friend.

A general gynecologist took a biopsy that was negative but still referred me to South Coast for a more specialized assessment, and the biopsy from South Coast showed cancer. I'm thankful for the second opinion and early detection. Dr. Duggan, who is now retired, was amazing and an expert in her field. And after tumor removal, bilateral lymph node dissections and CO2 burns, now I'm under the care of Dr. Lindsey Charo and the best physician assistant Sarah Karpen. Dr. Charo brings fresh energy and knowledge. And I can't say enough great things about Sarah's compassion and take-charge knowledge. Sarah has a great eye for detail and has caught pre-cancer areas and areas that required further attention. This office has moved from Carmel Valley so be patient as they on-board more staff. Two weeks later, I realized I had a conflict with a class I'm taking. I left four messages with my phone number asking about rescheduling and was never called back. Today I called and managed to reach the receptionist (Promise) who was extremely curt. She said there were no other appointments available that day with Dr. Sohn and no appointments with any other surgeon for 6 weeks. 20 minutes later, I got an email confirming a 1 PM appointment which would've been perfect! The 1 PM appointment still shows is confirmed in their app. I called the office to reconfirm and was told that it was a mistake and Promise brusquely said it was not her fault or her problem. She also said I told her to cancel the morning appointment - I did not which people in the room when I called confirmed.
