The people here really know their shit. Dr. Yuh in particular is great, happy to answer all questions, isn't going to give you nightmares with doom and gloom assumptions but also won't sugarcoat things either. They figured out what I had, got ms my medicine, and I was fine in just a few weeks. Not even that highly priced, either. read more

Met with Dr. Moore 5 weeks ago. Referred me to PT and haven't been able to book me in a session since. When I call their office, I talk to a call center in Honduras. They billed my insurance $1004 and essentially wasted my time. Dr. Moore is kind and seems knowledgeable but can't recommend. Oh, and you have to pay to park here read more

When calling the advertisement for Dr. Cohen in La Jolla I was told Dr. Cohen doesn't see patients in La Jolla. All over the internet it says Dr. Cohen Urologist in La Jolla. Not sure about this because I could barely understand the young man who answered my call. read more

Wow! Worst experience I've ever had with a Doctor in my life. If you want a professional Doctor that wants to help you get to the root of your pain, he is not it. I got referred to this Urologist because I was having extreme pain aching lower area where my kidneys are, which would cause me to become nauseous and vomit and landed me in the emergency room. The ER at Scripts Encinitas couldn't find anything so they suggested if it happens again after the pain meds wear off, to have my Doctor send me to a Urologist to get more tests done and get answers to what's going on. My pain has still persisted constantly at a 10 and would leave me on the floor, curled in a ball, crying, if I wasn't persistent on pain medication. And with having 3 kids, two of which have autism, i need to be able to be well to take care of them and take them to their therapies during the week. I waited for this appointment with Dr. Nguyen for weeks and when I finally meet this Doctor, he walks in with an attitude and asks what's going on, as I explain, he rudely smiles and says, "well I don't know why you're here, all your tests came back normal, I don't know what that is that you're feeling" after a couple minutes of him just standing there leaning on the counter , smiling, completely not interested in what I'm telling him I ask if they sent me to the wrong doctor, he said yes cause he doesn't know what he's supposed to do about it. I asked if he could inform them that he can't help me, he then smirks and slightly laughs and says "well I don't know who I'm suppose to tell" and I the said "my Doctor?" He then says he's unsure of what he should tell my Doctor. While still smiling and leaning on counter, Dr. Nguyen said he's in Urology and he helps with kidneys, and mines not a kidney issue, maybe it's from my Ribs or bone. I'm thinking, what? I was completely blown away at his lack of professionalism. All the symptoms and pain I've been having shows to something going on internally, especially because it's in the kidney area, which is why I got sent to Dr.Nguyen for a deeper look and more tests. Never have I been made felt like such a joke by a Medical Professional. He just kept smirking and smiling at me and talking to me as if I was dumb, while still leaning causally on the counter, didn't even examine me, and I'm honestly not even positive he studied my chart very well because he was asking me questions that would be in my file for this appointment, I asked him, didn't you even read my chart before coming in? That information is in there. He stumbled for words and said yeah. His phone then rang and and he answered his phone in the middle of our appointment. The whole session he made me feel completely awful and I left holding back tears. I don't even have any answers to my pain and why it's happening, I got sent to him to get deeper answers and instead I got laughed at . No examine, no tactfulness, no trying to help me with my pain and trying to get more answers. I waited weeks for this appointment to be completely made fun of. Based on my experience, I would recommended choosing a different doctor if your insurance allows it, worst experience read more

Genesis Urology - La Jolla - Urologists Near Me - La Jolla, California

Dr Moore was terrific. She was knowledgeable and I was able to see her quickly. I highly recommend this outfit.

I was referred to Dr. Naitoh by a Doctor friend of mine. I called the Encinitas location to get an appointment and the admin staff was less than friendly. I thought I would have better luck in getting an appointment with Dr. Naitoh in the La Jolla office. I called several times to get an appointment and cannot get a return call. If this is the case when I trying to get an appointment, how would they even take care of my needs after I become a patient. Really poor etiquette. I hope that I am the only one they treat this way and not a general practice of the Genesis Urology. read more

I saw Dr. Yuh at this office for a kidney stone. He is a caring, knowledgeable doctor who goes the extra mile for his patients. He was also my surgeon for an outpatient procedure and explained everything in a clear, easy to understand way. I also appreciated the kind and competent front office staff. My experience here was excellent and I highly recommend this doctor. read more

I went to the Encinitas location. If you are going to visit Dr. Juma, make sure you schedule ample time as there is typically a long wait. That being said, Dr. Juma is a very personable doctor. He was able to describe what was going on with my body in an easily digestible way, and really cares about the patients understanding of how to take care of their bodies. Though I am not a fan of waiting so long for a doctor's appointment, Shane, the girl who will talk to you when you check in to your appointment, is incredible. She is so warm and friendly, and while I was waiting gave me continuous updates on how much longer it would be. Shane is an example of a healthcare worker who deserves a doctor's salary. If it weren't for her, patients would be much more frustrated with the long wait times. She even remembers patient names and greets them from the second they walk in. Thank you Dr. Juma and Shane! read more

Hung Nguyen, MD, was fantastic. I am in recovery and thanks to his skill and steady hand I am now referring myself as a distant cousin of the rock star Ace Freely, I P Freely! Success! Dr. Nguyen was informative and was up front with my options. He guided me through the process keeping me confident and open minded. His sense of humor was great too. I would definitely recommend him to anyone my age with prostate issues. Thanks Hung!!!! read more

Stephen Cohen MD was the luck of the draw. I went to emergency feeling very sick. They determined that I had a UTI problem and had developed a very dangerous sepsis infection. I did not have a urologist at the time. Dr. Cohen was called to the ER. He ran tests & CT scans and diagnosed a large kidney stone had prevented my UTI from draining properly. He performed emergency surgery at 2:00 AM to place a stent in my UTI system to restore function. I was treated for the infection and released. 2 weeks later he performed another High Tech procedure using ultrasound to break up a kidney stone too large to pass. That was successful and he has followed up with regular treatments for my UTI issues. He is a high-tech DR, very skilled and caring. I was lucky they called the right guy! His La Jolla office personnel are very efficient and kind. He is my Guy! read more

Great team Dr Buttler took care of my situation and I'm completely satisfied. I recommend giving him your business.

Dr. Mike Price is great; he's helped me through 2 surgeries. He's very knowledgeable, takes his time to really understand what you're going through and has an overall great personality, he's a joy to be around. Highly recommend him, if you can get him. read more

Michael Price is a great P.A.! Heck, I'll call him Doctor, a special honor bestowed by the University of Greatness... This experience is from going there for over a year's worth of cancer treatments and having multiple scopes done. Michael's bedside manner, Dr. Cohen's approachability and overall staff attitude has been well-above many SoCal offices' standards. The Encinitas crew features a very capable handler of Doctor's procedure and surgery scheduling too, very helpful! If you got a bugger like cancer messing with you, one thing you and your family don't need is to be pissed off at the office. Hahaha, pun intended. (If he were a proctologist, I would have written "crap.") read more

As a 15-year patient here, I can genuinely say that Clara Doherty provides wonderful care. She is thoughtful, knowledgeable, and gentle. Clara is the best asset at Genesis. Dr. Butler is a great doctor and has been steadfast in his care. read more

I am a Registered nurse and was a patient of Dr. Butler's recently. Do not go to either of his offices in La Jolla or Encinitas...His entire office staff with the exception of one Physician's assistant are so discourteous, mal-content, unprofessional and downright dangerous. Never have I seen a more unfit medical calamity of persons who are not trained and who are negligent and unprepared for anything that is not cookie-cutter in nature. Truly...don't just walk but RUN to a more qualified physician...This is the bottom of the barrel. read more

Dr Cohen and his PAs are professional and caring. It's a busy office for that reason, but once seen the knowledge and caring is obvious. Dr. Cohen and Dr. Butler have seen our family and the office in Encinitas and La Jolla are wonderful. read more

Dr. Cohen and his staff are excellent. They have cared for many of our family members with care, understanding and professionalism. Ann, who is a member of the La Jolla office team is fantastic and went out of her way to help me in resolving scheduling and billing matters. I had a 10mm ureter stone. Dr Cohen quickly requested a CT scan to confirm, then suggested a week later to have an ESWL to try to blast it. He was moving as fast as he could. When that didn't do the trick it we scheduled the Holmium laser and that did it. It was a tough problem and he fixed it....these things take weeks to sort out and that is just what they are.... He was kind and professional. Did it hurt....sure...but he did everything to minimize what you have to go through. So, highly recommended. read more

I love doctor Naitoh and his staff. I only had a problem with the VERY RUDE! Unprofessional, girl that does the Imaging there. She doesn't return phone calls she'll keep you waiting she never answers her phone and when she does she's screaming she's honestly a sore eyes for the office and for that reason I have chosen to go to another urologist. read more

Mike Price is exceptional, but plan on waiting at least an hour in the waiting room as they are always behind. Also, put a partition between the waiting room and desk, I really don't enjoy listening to all their phone calls and hearing patient information. read more

Was seen at Genesis in Encinitas by a PA of Dr. Cohen. During the hour I spent at the office, she not once did more than talk to me and look at things on her computer. No physical examination. She spent our time together telling me all that the ER did wrong (I had been in the ER the weekend before), as if that was anything I had control over. She then told me all the reasons she didn't want to repeat a CT scan. She went to consult Dr. Cohen and came back in to inform me they would be repeating a CT scan, without addressing that she had spent the past 20 minutes telling me why they weren't going to do that. She stressed the importance of having this done ASAP. I got the exam the next morning and did not hear back from her for two days. Finally after reaching out twice, I got a call back telling me I had appendicitis and to go to the ER immediately. Once I got to the ER, the very competent doctor quickly ruled out appendicitis due to the fact that I had no pain upon pressure on my stomach - something she would have known if she actually examined me! Additionally, while finishing all the paperwork for my CT, she said "happy belated birthday" to which I responded "thanks this was a great birthday present" sarcastically. She proceeded to tell me that things could be worse and that her friend got diagnosed with breast cancer on her 40th birthday. The level of patient care was terrible, and she ignored my tears, made my pain feel invalid, and told me things could be worse. I am so disappointed in my visit. read more

This review is specifically for Dr. Butler. He is a very kind and caring person. I felt like he treated me just the way he would treat a member of his own family. I never felt rushed and was always confident that all of my concerns would be addressed. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Naitoh for several years. He is caring, patient, professional, informative and has a pleasant sense of humor. He has been successful with each of my treatments. I saw Dr. Butler over the course of a year. Butler is around 64 and trying to get his retirement ready. Butler sells his Uro-lift on Radio TV and Full Page Ads in Magazines. Butler seems like a nice guy but he is a Hustler not a Healer. I got his Uro-lift and while my urine stream is stronger that it was before the operation, I still take Finasteride pills to prevent bleeding and have to put up with all the side effects. I was told no more pills and no more problems. After the operation I stopped taking this pill as directed and there was blood in my urine 3 weeks later, even though Butler told me I could go off the pills which was the reason for my consenting to this operation. When I complained, Butler told me about all the releases I had already signed. I have a 35 dollar co-pay. Gosh did they want that money even though I am suppose to pay only if I see the Doctor. Finally I had to threaten to take Butler to court to get the 105 dollars back for the 3 times I did not see a Doctor. After months of arguing they finally sent me a check. The Staff was rude as hell and ignorant. They told me unless I paid the co-pay I was not going to see anyone even though my insurance states that if I do not see a Doctor no co-pay is necessary. I went into the pre-op consultation and met with a lady who was dumb as dirt. I ask her one question. What are the pins made of that they are going to insert into me, her answer was, " do you want me to go find out?" I had to pay for this and left. Waste of time and money that is Butler and Geneses Health Care. I guess the answer is go to a teaching Hospital. The only thing I wanted was a Doctor to be Truthful with me. read more

I would like to congratulate Dr. Cohen's office staff, the entire stall, but especially Ann at the front desk. They were ALL very kind and professional in treating me and I'm from out of town. Ann helped me estimate the cost of procedures needed and truly seemed on my side as an advocate; she was most kind and accommodating . I've never had occasion to deal with a more professional and kind staff. Dr. Cohen was informative, expert and fluid in treatment. The PA for Dr. Cohen, Michael Price, was so informative and helpful, taking time to explain possible diagnosis and necessary tests and options for treatment. All in all, considering one is never excited about seeing a DR. , the experience was pleasant, encouraging and considerate. Thank you Dr. Cohen and your entire staff, especially Ann and Michael. Sincerely, Kleis Clissold read more
