Dr. William Parker is the Best. I flew from Georgia to California for my myomectomy and would flown from around the world to be operated and cared for by him as so many others have done. There are no words to say what this kindhearted dedicated doctor did for me. Only wish I had found him earlier in my childbearing life, maybe I would not have had to undergone two ectopic pregnancies. I only hope and pray that as he mentioned there are doctors trained by him see it fit to learn from the best and not always quick to recommend hysterectomy. In fact, every doctor I saw before him would only recommend a hysterectomy, which I did not want so it took about 7 years to finally get a myomectomy when I found him. Thank you Dr. Parker! read more

Dr Parker is the best Doctor i have ever had! He performed a Myomectomy and removed 14 fibroids! My experience was so great and i recovered quickly. All the nurses were awesome at the hospital too. I highly recommend Dr. William H. Parker and iam truly grateful for his expertise! read more
I was filtering through the old photos in my iCloud and came across the photos from my fibroid surgery...34 fibroids removed! I'm still amazed at how many fibroids I had and it's no wonder I wasn't able to get pregnant. In the years following my 2012 abdominal myomectomy, I wasted no time and was vigorous with my fertility efforts. I got pregnant 4 times but unfortunately miscarried 4 times. Although it was disappointing and discouraging, I looked on the positive side...I was actually able to get pregnant! Something that never happened before I had my fibroids removed. I then turned to IUI and IVF and after many unsuccessful attempts, my 2nd IVF finally worked. Finally at age 44, I was a first time mother. Our little miracle just turned 7 months and I know 100% that she wouldn't be here if it weren't for Dr. Parker with his skills and expertise. read more

Two months ago I had laparoscopic surgery to remove several benign tumors (fibroids). I tried all kinds of things for many years. Ultimately, I needed definitive treatment and was lucky to have Dr. Parker and his team at UCSD perform the procedure. He is regarded as one of the best in the world and has been a long-time pioneer and advocate of minimally invasive surgery and organ preservation. He was confident he could remove the four largest. In the end he removed eleven. The tumors totaled a mass of 15cm x 15cm x 8cm. I am very glad to not be carrying them around anymore and I feel so much better without them. For years I was told by several GYNs (including a leading university) that I would have to get a hysterectomy if I wanted definitive treatment. Hysterectomy is very destructive so I researched several alternatives and in that search found Dr. Parker. Ultimately it's each person's decision, but know that there are many options available (non-surgical, surgical) and despite what most doctors will say, hysterectomy is not the only choice. If you find yourself or know someone in a similar situation I'm happy to talk about what my experience has been and I found Dr. Parker's website to be a helpful and hopeful reference: http://www.fibroidsecondopinion.com. Six hours after surgery I was able to take a 30 minute walk. One week after surgery I was going to the gym. Four weeks later I did a three mile run. I credit Dr. Parker for my recovery as surgery is only as good as the surgeon. I am excited to have my life back and for the first time in a long time, I finally feel like myself again. read more

After I found out that I had several large fibroids, I consulted with two different surgeons prior to Dr. Parker and also several other doctors to figure out my options and if it was possible to shrink them naturally. They were too big so anything natural wouldn't make a very big difference so I really wanted to have them surgically removed. The first 2 surgeons both told me that during surgery there would be a 15% chance that they would need to do an emergency hysterectomy and I really didn't want that. I finally found Dr. Parker through a recommendation from my new functional medicine doctors, who said that he had helped another patient of hers with a similar problem. Since I don't live near Dr. Parker's office, I was able to do my initial consultation online. He thoroughly explained my MRI images and all of my options and the pros and cons of each. I felt very comfortable making the decision to have the fibroids laparoscopically removed, and was actually excited to have it done, not scared at all. Dr. Parker clearly has a lot of experience and knowledge. The day before the laparoscopic procedure I was examined by Dr. Parker and he explained what would happen the next day and what to do in recovery. I was able to ask all the questions that I had and he even showed me a video of the procedure so I could see exactly how it works. On the day of the surgery, Dr. Parker and all of the other doctors and assistants took very good care of me, even though it took longer than expected as I had so many fibroids! I went home the same day and recovered quickly. I took 2 weeks off from work, but was able to walk around and do things pretty normally. Two months from the surgery I had another online check-up with Dr. Parker and was happy to report that I was not only completely recovered but feeling better than ever. Now it's been five months and I can hardly see the scars and I'm still feeling great! I'm so happy and forever grateful that after not being satisfied with the first two surgeons' solution, I sought out a third opinion and found Dr. Parker. He truly is a one-of-a-kind doctor, professional, knowledgeable, kind, and talented. read more

Doctor William Parker and his team are truly the cream of the crop in surgery on endometriosis and fibroids. I am in my 40s and have both endometriosis and multiple fibroids. All the fibroids are grown in the wall of the womb, and the biggest fibroid is 9cm. My whole womb is about the size of one that is 18 weeks pregnant. And I still want to have children. Previously, I went to many other gynecologists. 4 of them are not sure if I should have surgery. They said if I needed surgery, they could only perform open surgery, but they are not sure if that would reduce my fertility and even lose my womb. They said if they can't stop me from bleeding during the process of removing the fibroid, they have to remove the whole womb. Another 3 gynecologists insisted that I should remove my whole womb despite the fact that I told them I still want children. They told me my fibroids are potentially cancerous so I should remove my whole womb as soon as possible. I could neither trust those wishy-washy doctors, nor could I trust those who merely want a fat paycheck from doing a big surgery, rather than their patients' well-being; so I continued to search online until I found Dr. William Parker. After the first appointment with Dr. Parker, it was like having a breath of fresh air and I knew I found the right doctor. Dr. William Parker is very knowledgeable, yet still very humble and caring. He listened to me patiently, and his explanations were very clear and logical. First, he assured me that my fibroids are not cancerous. Second, he explained that the 9cm fibroid does reduce my fertility. Removing it will increase my fertility back to what is normal for my age. Third, I was given the choice of doing either open surgery or laparoscopic surgery. With the open surgery, all fibroids could be removed, but it takes a longer time to recover. With laparoscopy surgery, the big ones are guaranteed to be removed, and it only takes 4-6 weeks to recover. Because I want something less invasive, I chose laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Parker assured me that I won't lose my womb and because I am young and healthy, the chance of having any complications(eg. Blood clotting) is very low. That really comforted me. I felt that I am in good hands, not only could I trust in his skill, but also trust in his person. I think Dr. William Parker has a sound moral compass. He surely just wants the best for his patients. It's now 6 weeks after the surgery, I feel like I am back to normal without any complications. I could tell this surgery was done very well by comparison to previous endometriosis surgeries I had in the past. This time, I was able to get out of bed and go to the bathroom by myself on the first night home. In previous times, I was in bed for a couple of days. I was able to walk slowly the next day. I don't have much pain during these couple of weeks of recovery time. The only way I could explain this is that Dr. Parker precisely only removed what was needed, and did absolutely no damage to the nearby organs. Dr. William Parker is not covered by my HMO health insurance. However, later on I found out that as long as I can prove to my health insurance that none of my health care providers could perform certain treatment for me, my insurance actually authorized me to see doctors outside the network and covered the medical bill just as usual. Dr.Parker is the only doctor I found who could remove a large fibroid in the laparoscopic way. So it is very easy to prove this to the insurance company and get covered. It is really a blessing to have Dr. William Parker perform the surgery for me. My serious condition was never too complicated for this highly skilled doctor. He did exactly what he planned to do during the surgery. And I want to help more women who have large fibroids to know about this brilliant doctor. If I could have children in the future, I will come back and update you all. read more

Dr. Parker performed a laparoscopic myomectomy on me to remove my fibroids. He accidentally left 2 fibroids in my uterus. He ignored test results I had that showed more than one fibroid, and assured me I had only one. He encouraged me to get a laparoscopic procedure, because according to him I very clearly just had one fibroid. After I continued to have pain for months and months after the surgery, he called me a "slow healer." Another doctor of mine ordered an ultrasound that showed additional fibroids. Dr Parker told me they were wrong and it was scar tissue. When an MRI proved him wrong, Dr Parker told me my orginal MRI was "shadowy" and it was difficult to tell what was where. I asked then why he didn't recommend an open surgery, if he couldn't make any conclusions based on the MRI? He had nothing to say. He could not justify the decision he made, and was contradicting himself as well as my recent test results. Dr. Parker was arrogant and negligent in my care. I would never seek care from him again, and would discourage anyone else from trusting his judgment or his word. read more

Among the blessings I count in my life, finding Dr. Parker is undoubtedly one of them. I feel so grateful to have had Dr. Parker as the surgeon to laparoscopically remove my 10cm+ fibroid. I am the type of person who would normally consult multiple different doctors before deciding which one I think is best. I am excruciatingly thorough to a fault. Dr. Parker was the first and only surgeon I spoke to regarding my impending fibroid surgery. Decision made. I had complete trust in him from the onset and felt extremely fortunate that he would be my surgeon. I flew into San Diego for the surgery. Needless to say, the surgery went super well. Dr. Parker's unparalleled expertise kept my organs intact and my healing process painless and quick. I was up and walking that very day and walked a mile each and every day that first week. Soon, I was back to all my regular activities. I want to highlight that several of my friends from all around the United States (New York, Connecticut, San Francisco, etc) as well as in Europe (Paris, London) had their fibroids removed by various OTHER surgeons because those surgeons were local in their respective cities. A couple of those friends needed second "redo" surgeries. A few even had their organs removed. Some had brutal recoveries. When I told them about my easy, thorough, and amazing experience with Dr. Parker, they were all envious and wished they had found him, consulted with him, and had flown to have their surgery with him as well. My advice -- no matter where you live, look no further. Go to Dr. Parker! He is a Godsend. I cannot say enough phenomenal things about Dr. Parker. He is world-class. The best, most gifted surgeon ever. read more

Dr Parker is the fibroid king. I was referred to Dr Parker by my obgyn in Atlanta. My largest fibroid was 14cm. Second largest was 9cm. I flew to San Diego to meet with Dr Parker in July 2019. I immediately liked Dr Parker. He has outstanding bedside manners. Very humble and polite. He went over my MRI making sure all of my questions were answered. He categorized and highlighted the locations of my fibroids. On October 22, 2019 Dr Parker removed 43 fibroids. My incision is very small and clean. I had no complications, didn't need blood transfusion like other doctors said I would. Dr Parker did everything he promised. Dr Parker came to see me in the hospital both days I was there. I'm very grateful to him and his staff. read more

I was so lucky to have Dr Parker who insisted on an MRI before doing surgery and he discovered that my fibroid was sitting on my detrusor muscle causing me severe problems with urinating. The urologist told me my detrusor muscle was shot and I would have to Catheterize the rest of my life. But Dr Parker didn't think so and luckily the removal of my fibroid tumor laparoscopically solved all my problems. read more

Dr. Parker saved my uterus and my life! I will forever be grateful to him. Like most women who have posted reviews for Dr. Parker, I too was told by my gynecologist to, "just have a hysterectomy." After I strongly refused my doctor's suggestion to have a hysterectomy, she recommended that I see Dr. Parker. But I almost never made it into Dr. Parker's office because I lost trust in my gynecologist after she callously told me to have my uterus removed as a first option to resolve my heavy bleeding. So instead of consulting with Dr. Parker, I waited for three months to see if my symptoms might improve--They didn't. In fact, by the time I made it into Dr. Parker's office I was suffering from extreme heavy bleeding, imbalanced hormones, and severe anemia. Living with fibroids was unbearable and negatively impacted all aspects of my life; I couldn't work, exercise, or socialize. My life was on hold and my quality of life was totally diminished. But meeting Dr. Parker was a dream come true! I finally had a compassionate physician who genuinely listened to my hopes and fears concerning my reproductive health. It was amazing and very reassuring to have a doctor who sincerely cared about my wellbeing and who understood and honored my wish to preserve my fertility. During my first appointment with Dr. Parker, he patiently, thoughtfully and very throughly explained my condition and the options available, and he never once mentioned hysterectomy to me. Dr. Parker was also very generous with his time, and I never felt rushed. He gave me his undivided attention and answered all of my questions. Since having a successful myomectomy with Dr. Parker my life is back to normal. I had minimal blood loss during surgery and have since recovered beautifully. My uterus has returned to normal size, and my bikini incision in nearly invisible. Also, my hormones are perfectly balanced--I have consistent menstrual cycles (26-28 days) with normal bleeding, monthly ovulation, healthy libido, and lots of energy. I am able to live a very healthy, active lifestyle, exercise daily and I can plan for the future and not put my life on hold. None of this would be possible without Dr. Parker's remarkable and unparalleled surgical skills. Dr. Parker is a hero and a true champion of women's health. He is a trusted, enlightened, dedicated, and compassionate doctor who values women. And, he deserves a lot of credit for his unwavering dedication to researching and restoring women's reproductive health through minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Parker's care and impact goes beyond the operating room. Not only is he helping individual patients, but he has also made spreading the message of female organ conservation his mission and has dedicated his life to this very important cause. Other doctors should aspire to be like Dr. Parker. He is at the forefront of women's reproductive health, and he truly cares about his patients. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about how fortunate I am to have my health fully restored 100%!!! Dr. Parker saved my uterus and literally saved my life, and I am so incredibly grateful to him. Thank you Dr. Parker for all that you do. You are such a blessing in so many lives, and we are so fortunate to have you! read more

Having written my review I've now been in to see the doctor and had surgery. The previous co-ordinator has left and a lady called Victoria has replaced her. She's great, calls back when requested, answers emails etc promptly. I have been absolutely delighted with everything ever since. The doctor is fantastic, very caring and just amazing. My surgery went so well that just one week later I feel fantastic with no pain at all. The RN that looked after me (Joy) the day of my surgery was also great and quite honestly every single person that I came in contact with has been awesome. I cannot say enough good things about this doctor and his support team. I'm thrilled that I was able to see him and the difficulty I had getting to see him was all worth it. read more

It's hard to know where to start. 18 years ago? I'm going to tell my story (short version!) in the hope that it will speak to some of you reading this. First and foremost, if you have any concerns at all regarding fibroids you will not regret having an appointment with this highly skilled, kind and compassionate person. 18 years ago I was told I had a small fibroid (6cms). The OBGYN said I could have it taken it out, but I was concerned that I might risk not being able to have children if something went wrong. So I didn't have surgery. During the following 18 years the fibroid grew, despite acupuncture, dietary changes, homeopathy and a multitude of other alternative measures, appointments, practices which all took up time, a lot of money, emotional space. I did have two children - even with the fibroid growing to 20cm with each pregnancy, making my pregnancies seem like having twins, twice... As a "last ditch" effort, I went in for a UAE (Uterine Artery Embolization) 6 years ago, again avoiding surgery as the few people I consulted with all said it would need to be a hysterectomy. The UAE did shrink the fibroid somewhat but left it as a large, mostly necrotic mass. Having this fibroid affected many areas of my life as anyone can imagine, including self image and intimacy. I had a weight on my life not only physically but emotionally. I feel that I had ongoing, low-level depression and concern. I had totally given up on doing anything about it and had accepted that this is what I would have to live with. By chance I came across a recommendation for Dr. Parker. I was in tears reading the reviews and felt that I'd finally found someone who could actually help me without removing my uterus (Yes, I am late forties but still wanted to keep my body intact.) The people who work with him are all extremely kind, patient and empathetic. I immediately felt cared for and the entire process from making the first appointment to the post op appointment went incredibly smoothly, taking only 6 weeks! Dr Parker removed (LAPAROSCOPICALLY!!!) the 25cmx20cmx7cm mass in under 2.5 hours. It has been just 3 weeks since the operation and I am a NEW PERSON. My sister said I looked 10 years younger - that's the burden lifted. It's wonderful: I suddenly have space in my abdomen. My abdomen is soft - no giant hard lump that sucks energy out of me and blocks energy moving. I've had a physical weight removed, yes, but an even greater impact is the energetic shift it has allowed. I hope you will find this freedom as well. A last note: I avoided surgery for all those years for many reasons but one of them was because I thought the fibroid wasn't life threatening - certainly I couldn't have an operation just because of heavy periods and some pain and depression etc.... Well. I can tell you, this was absolutely worth it. It is freeing. read more

I was referred to Dr. William H. Parker for my recent laparoscopic myomectomy. My last experience with a myomectomy was in 2007 with a different doctor, and it was abdominal. I didn't have a pleasant experience. It went on short term disability in May 07, and was unable to return to work before July 07. It was approximately 4 - 5 months before I returned to any type of physical activity. 10 years later, when I learned that I had new fibroids that were possibly interfering with my fertility, I couldn't bear the thought of going through another myomectomy. My fertility doctor told me that Dr. Parker was the best and that he might be able to figure out a solution for me since he is an expert in non-invasive surgery. In November of 2016, I went for my MRI, and at least 10 fibroids were discovered, and Dr. Parker walked my husband and I through their locations. I cried in his office because there was a chance that laparoscopic surgery was not the best choice for me. Dr. Parker asked, "Why are you crying?" My husband responded, "Her experience last time was so bad and she doesn't want to go through that again." In a gentle manner, Dr. Parker said that he would take another look at my MRI and my chart, and see if there was any way that he could map out a pathway to rid me of fibroids with his minimally invasive technique. I went in for my procedure in March 2017, and in the end, he found 15 fibroids, and he got them all. He relayed to my husband that it was almost a record amount that he'd removed laparoscopically. What was supposed to be a 2-hour surgery turned into a 4-hour surgery. Afterwards, he let me know that he was willing to put in the extra time to know that he'd found them all. I remember waking up, and seeing my husband sitting next to me and it was the most beautiful sight of my life, and I also felt very little discomfort or pain. The last time I woke up from a myomectomy I was crying, covered in blood, and vomiting from morphine. This time, with Dr. Parker, I woke up, and asked my husband to take a picture of me, smiling, so that I could share on social media. I went home the same day, and slept and then had a pretty decent meal. Of course, I wasn't comfortable, but I could get myself around. I needed my husband to pull me into bed a few times, and lift me in and out of cars. I think the biggest takeaway from my story is that I am a part-time fitness instructor. I teach dance, strength and weight training, indoor cycle, and was training to teach yoga. I took 3 weeks off. Like clockwork, I was ready to return to my regular teaching schedule after each of those 3 sets of classes. I had a post-op appt. with Dr. Parker on a Wednesday, and he gave me a clean bill of health, and I taught cycle on the same Thurs., weight training on Fri., and yoga on Sun.. I felt good. I certainly took it easy on myself, but I was up, mobile, and moving and there and present for my students. In one of classes, a student asked if my surgery had been postponed because I was back so soon that she thought I must not have had the surgery at all. That is not to say that all is 100%. 3 weeks after surgery, I was 85% at the capacity of what I could do before. But that is better than my 1st myomectomy in which I wasn't myself for months! With Dr. Parker's procedure, I had incisions that reduced my core capacity in yoga, lightened my leg-squat load in class; I couldn't really run hard, and I lost some weight and therefore muscle mass. I was weakened and exhausted, and my stamina took a blow. Dr. Parker told me that this would happen, and he was right. I was tired, but my body just experienced significant trauma. I felt fluctuations in the uterus, cramping, pinches and sharp pains. But my physical form is a fighter, and I am blown away by what a healthy body can do to aid its own recovery. I'm glad I went through this, so that I could slow down, refocus, and appreciate the resiliency and strength of the human body. Overall, I was very pleased with my results. I think that Dr. Parker is a wonderful physician, and I thanked him, profusely. His bedside manner is top notch. I appreciate the care and attention before and after my surgery. My husband really appreciated the information that he got from Dr. Parker and his staff, as my surgery was happening. Afterwards, to know that I could return to life as normal, within a few short weeks was awesome. Dr. Parker has incredible and skillful knowledge, hands, and patience. His entire staff--especially Cheryl (one of the nursees) have been there for my pre-op and post-op prognosis. I feel very "seen," "valued," and "heard." I would recommend Dr. Parker and his procedures and staff---any day. I'm sad that his practice is mostly surgical, I won't see him regularly. When I have my 1st born, I promise to send them a picture, for s/he would not be without him. They created magic, openness, and space not just in my uterus, but in my mind and heart. I am forever grateful. read more

Dr. Parker is excellent. The day I met him, I immediately knew he was the right person to perform my myomectomy. I found him to have outstanding expertise in the field of women's reproductive health. He understands the quality of life implications as well as the medical implications of fibroids and their associated issues. Further, he has a remarkable bedside manner, which is rare for someone with his level of skill and experience. By the time I got to Dr. Parker, I had already seen 3 other doctors, including my regular OB/GYN. I wasn't quite comfortable with any of them. As someone who takes my health seriously, I felt it was worth it to keep searching until I found someone I felt 100% comfortable with. Dr. Parker was that person. Prior to surgery, my fibroid had become more and more of a problem over the years. It went from being completely asymptomatic to causing my stomach to bulge, causing extremely heavy periods, and draining me of energy. I was ready to have my life back. I was very apprehensive about surgery because a) I'd never had surgery before and b) I read things that made me think this could potentially be a mistake. I'm happy to report that surgery went far better than I imagined and I'm so so glad I had surgery and really wish I had done it sooner. My abdominal myomectomy went very well. Dr. Parker explained everything to me during my consult and pre-op visits, and I felt confident and prepared going into surgery. He checked in before surgery, met with my family, and made sure I was at ease. This was important to me as it's natural to have jitters just before the procedure. Following surgery, Dr. Parker communicated with my family and me about the surgery, how it went, and what to expect in the short term. I progressed very well and was able to leave the hospital in the planned time. My post op visit also went well. As before, Dr. Parker both explained things to me and gave me the floor to ask questions. Now at 2 weeks post op, I'm already feeling a lot better even though I have another month of recovery ahead of me. I'm looking forward to continuing to gain strength and energy as the weeks pass. After meeting with 3 other physicians before Dr. Parker, I can confidently recommend him. He has the ideal mix of things you look for in a medical professional: competence, expertise, open-mindedness, clarity, and kindness. I'm deeply grateful to him for his patience, great work, and attentiveness. ----- Two words of caution unrelated to Dr. Parker's performance: If you have an abdominal myomectomy, be sure to get instructions for how to troubleshoot your pain pump *before* you leave the hospital. I had a very difficult time getting the information and support I needed after the staff at the hospital did not calibrate the pump properly before my departure. It's no fun chasing down help when you're 2 days post op. I am not a fan of Dr. Parker's staff as I found them difficult to deal with in terms of returning calls, communicating proactively, and providing accurate information. However, this is no fault of Dr. Parker's and takes nothing away from his outstanding work. read more

Dr.Parker is the most gifted surgeon when it comes to removing Fibroids . I am beyond grateful to have found him and to have him as my surgeon to remove my Fibroids. My journey with fibroids started two years ago when I felt bloated ,tired and looked pregnant . After an ultrasound I found out that I have fibroids (a word I had never heard before) After doing extensive research online I decided to have UFE procedure as I never had the heavy bleeding and my periods were normal. This is where it all went south. After waking up from that procedure I was told that I have an additional blood flow coming from my right ovaries feeding the fibroids and that I would have to redo the procedure again. (This was terrible news). Then within a few days after having UFE (my first surgery ever) I started having massive kidney pains along with abdominal pains, resulting into a 5 day hospital stay. Doctors were unable to figure out why I was having these issues . After that I went to see a urologist that did many tests and said I have hydronephrosis of the right kidney and massive scar tissue. Long story short I had to have a stent put in 3 different times over a 7 month period , surgery to help resolve this issue and I was in and out of the hospital 6 times. I was heart broken having gone in for a simple procedure to help with fibroids and then having major kidney issues as a result . After all this I still had my fibroids and they were growing. I went to 4 other doctors before finding Dr. Parker all of which said different things. Most had advised that I needed a total hysterectomy and would have to be cut open and left with a big scar as this would be a complicated surgery. I was scared to go through all this and was worried that once again I would have complications. Doing more extensive research I came across Dr.Parkers website and started having hope again after reading through many reviews. At my first visit with Dr. Parker my worries were put at ease. We went over my MRI extensively (which no other doctor had done with me) he answered all of my questions taking his time and he told me he can remove my fibroids laparoscopically and recovery would be about 2 weeks. This sounded fantastic and I was immediately interested in doing this surgery . He did not rush into it like the other doctors and advised me we need to wait until my kidney heals completely and then we can go forward. Once that happened we moved forward. The day of surgery I was very nervous but Dr. Parker assured me that all will be ok and I felt at ease hearing that. After surgery was over I felt better than I thought I would . Dr. Parker removed several large fibroids the biggest being over 9 cm. I had a bit of pain for about 2 days and then immediately started feeling better each day. It has been several weeks now since my surgery and I have more energy, my bulging stomach has gone down, my scars are tiny and are healing very nicely and I fell better then I have in years. Dr. Parker is the best surgeon in this field and I highly recommend him over anyone else. He is so gifted and is also a very warm and personable doctor. Thanks to Dr.Parker I can now move forward without having to worry about fibroids and take my life back again. read more

I went to Dr. Parker for a second opinion as my highly rated gynecologist recommended a total hysterectomy. Dr. Parker kindly showed me all my options, then suggested I wait until menopause, it was just a few years away, and the likelihood of my fibroid shrinking was likely ( not something the first gynecologist had even mentioned was possible). I am so grateful I followed his advice, it's now about 4 years later, the fibroid has shrunk to the point that I don't notice it. In some cases a hysterectomy is important, in my case it would have been a waste of money, time, and a lifetime of taking hormones. Sometimes the best advice, is to do nothing at all. Thank you Dr. Parker! read more

I had a laparoscopic myomectomy with Dr Parker 2.5 yrs ago. I like his bedside manner. He definitely gave me options aside from surgery: MR focused ultrasound, UFE (but not recommended if you still want kids). He made sure I was fully informed of all my options and that I had a chance to explore them prior to deciding on surgery. The surgery I believe went pretty well. I now have endometriosis and adenomyosis where the fibroid was, but I do not think it's related to the surgery - I believe these conditions were preexisting. The only thing that happened during surgery is that I was not informed he would be doing a partial ablation, and that was a bit unnerving to learn after the procedure that this was done. It was only in one area, but I really wish I had known. It only bothers me now because my mom was diagnosed with uterine cancer and I worry if ablation may mask symptoms of cancer were they to appear. Dr Parker is a very personable surgeon. I don't think I would have done anything differently except the ablation. read more

Dr. Parker performed a abdominal myomectomy "Fibroid removal" on 02/05/19. I found out I had fibroids 8 months before I got surgery. I live in Ventura County and I went to 3 different doctors locally and they all wanted to perform a hysterectomy. I did my research and I found Dr. Parker and I am so happy I did. He said I don't have get my uterus removed we could just remove the fibroids. I was so relieved this was an option for me since no other doctor gave me this option. He has a wonderful bedside manner and an excellent surgeon. I am still healing but it has been a wonderful experience. Dr. Parker and his staff are friendly, kind, professional, and super attentive to all your needs. I feel like I got my life back since surgery. read more

Dr. Parker is an exceptionally talented and caring doctor. I had a fibroid of 8.5cm along with several smaller ones. Before I got convinced to have a surgery, I tried many ways to shrink them naturally. I worked with a naturopath, a Chinese herbalist, even a Shaman for about a year and a half. At some point I was swallowing more than 20 "supplement" pills in a day. I visited several other OBGYNs among whom there were ones suggesting me to take Lupron, making me get several ultrasounds and no MRIs. When my bleeding got bad so much so that every month was a battle and fear of not being able to get out of bed for two days, passing out, feeling weak all the time, not being able to travel and exercise, I realized that natural methods were not going to be enough. I am usually quite physically active and decided that I didn't want to feel weak and scared anymore. That's when I had my phone consultation with Dr. Parker. He answered all of my questions (which were a lot) very clearly and patiently. He went over my MRI and said if I wanted to have kids in the future, laparoscopic surgery might be a little risky but still left the decision for me to have either laparoscopic or abdominal myomectomy. I am 33 and would like to have kids. After a few days of consideration, I decided to have abdominal myomectomy. I flew down to LA from Seattle for the surgery, everything after that was absolutely amazing. I had my surgery on June 13th, 2016, stayed at the hospital that day and went to my mother-in-law's home the next day. During the surgery Dr. Parker made sure that my husband was getting informed about how everything was going. I didn't have any pain management issues even right after surgery and I am still stunned with how easy post-op for me and how quick my recovery was. After surgery, Dr. Parker answered all of my questions and he was very accurate about how he was expecting my recovery to go. I also paid close attention to my diet and made sure I had health/nutritional foods that would help my recovery. 2 Month Post Surgery Update: My periods came back to normal 1 month after my surgery and I am happy as clam! I gained back my strength, health and happiness. Dr. Parker is still following up with me and keeps an eye on my recovery and I am grateful for him every single day of my life. If you would like to share your journey with a top notch doctor who will gain your trust by talking facts, educating you. being caring and kind, Dr. Parker should be on top of your list. read more

Seven months ago due to lower back pain, abdominal bloating, pressure and pelvic pain, I decided to see a gynecologist in Los Angeles, and I was advised me to get an ultrasound. After the ultrasound, I was told that I had three fibroid tumors. The gynecologist in question did not explain to me that fibroids are often benign, and I felt depressed and scared because I am still young and I would like to have children one day. After having researched about fibroids online, I learned that I do not have cancer, and they are often removed using laparoscopic myomectomy. I asked the doctor if she could remove them using laparoscopic myomectomy, and I was told that in my case it was not feasible to perform such a procedure due to the location of the fibroids, which would make them hard to remove using this procedure. However, I was not comfortable with the idea of having surgery because surgery would cause a large incision, and it was too invasive. Therefore, I decided to obtain a second opinion, and I began to search for a doctor who has extensive experience in the removal of fibroids. After having researched and called many doctors, I finally found a gynecologist in San Diego, and it was at that time that I found Dr. Parker. Through his website, I discovered a gamut of information regarding fibroids and how to treat them. His website was extremely informative, and after I met with Dr. Parker, he explained in detail how he could remove the fibroids using laparoscopy, which not only made me confident and comfortable but it made me feel safe. Dr. Parker talked me through the procedure and explained every detail to me so that I would feel comfortable, and he made sure that all of my questions were answered. My experience with Dr. Parker was extremely positive because he did not treat me like a number. I did not feel rushed. In fact, he even put me on his priority list due to my short time stay in the United States. After the procedure, I stayed one night at the hospital because I do not live in San Diego, and I had driven from Los Angeles to have the procedure done. The following day, I received a call from Dr. Parker. He wanted to find out how I was feeling, and on the follow-up appointment, he prepared a surgical report and pictures for me to take home in case I needed to see another doctor in Saudi Arabia. Now I am six weeks post-op from the laparoscopic myomectomy, and I feel great. All of the problems that I had experienced before the surgery are gone. I am very happy with the results and I only have small scars, which are not noticeable. I do not have large incisions on my abdomen. Dr. Parker is not only extremely knowledgeable, but he is kind and professional. He is an extraordinary physician and his staff provided me with the best care. I could not have asked for a better outcome and Dr. Parker went beyond my expectations in regards to care. He is one of the most caring and compassionate doctors that I have ever met, and I am blessed to have had him as my doctor. I am forever grateful. Thank you, Dr. Parker. read more

This is an amazing doctor. Rare. A professional committed to the care of women. This is the man you go when you find you have these dastardly and havoc causing fibroids. I became severely anemic because I was running around with life, work and kids and just assumed my changing body would eventually stop bleeding as severely as it was. Duh. So typical of us not to get it looked at.. when I finally did go to my loving and trusted Gyn, she told me to have a hysterectomy. "You don't need all that in there".. I left her office pretty freaked out.. maybe I don't need it to make any more babies - but it's a place holder for SOMETHING. Sleepless late night research found Dr Parker.. and he's local! A bit of a bumpy ride getting the first appointment but all supportive and wonderful once in there.. Dr Parker sat with me and my test results and gave me carefully explained options with his photocopied almost cartoon like sketches that he scribbled over with his doctor pen and made notes. I chose "take that freaking thing out of me as soon and as bloodless as you can" option, which meant going through a hole he didn't have to make and chipping away at my very large vampire blob until it was gone. It took under two hours. Yes, having a hysterectomy would have been faster.. but it was important to me to keep her, I don't have cancer in my family and I'm older so the chance of it growing back is very little.. but if it does come back I can get a little shave instead of being a dummy head and waiting. Getting a second opinion and being responsible for your own Heath care is imperative in this time of rushed big surgeries and a big medical mess.. finding doctors like William Parker is what you need to do when you have been told something that just doesn't feel right. I am super thankful to this man! read more

As a nurse, I will have to stress how petrified I was of having this surgery. I have been battling my fibroids for 12 years of which it stayed pretty much the same size for 7 years. My fibroids started growing rapidly in 2013 and I had seen 2 doctors that were unwilling to assist me with the fibroids. One of the doctors did a hysterescopy to check the position of my fibroids and then started pushing IVF on me as a way to help me conceive without addressing what I could do about the fibroids. After I moved to a new city I found a new doctor and initially I was happy with his care but as time went on it just became more ultrasounds, HSG and more ultrasounds. Initially he was confident I could conceive with the fibroids and then a year down the line he started saying that my fibroids were too big and even started acting like he was counseling me and my husband on a life with no kids. I was suffering from debilitating pain during my periods, my stomach was getting bigger. He then he sent me for an MRI because he said I probably had adenomyosis because he felt my uterus was getting way too big. After the result from my MRI was back he told me that the radiologist interpreted the results as adenomyosis being highly unlikely it was 99% unlikely. My doctor however couldn't just leave it at that, he started telling me that even though it was highly unlikely he never said it wasn't adenomyosis so I may still have it. At this point I felt he had no idea how to proceed with my care. He asked me to make another appointment to see him and this time he decided he was going to refer me to a surgeon to have for myomectomy. During the appointment he stressed that I had to be aware that hysterectomy was a strong possibility and that every surgeon would say the same thing to me. I waited for him to refer me to the surgeon for 6 weeks, I would call the office and ask when I would get referred the nurse would say they were working on it and then I would hear nothing. That's when I decided I had to take matters into my own hands. I had been watching YouTube videos on myomectomy a while back and I remembered a particular surgery that caught my attention, the confidence in the surgeon's voice and the way he explained what he was doing just captivated me. It had been over 2 months that I watched it so I wasn't sure if I would remember or find it again. I had no name to put in as a reference for my search but I was determined to find it. After watching one video after another for hours I finally came upon it, it was Dr. Bill Parker. I turned and said to my husband that's the surgeon that will operate on him, my husband thought I was crazy how could I conclude without knowing anything about him but I just knew in my spirit that he could do it. I did some research and I knew I made the right choice. It took about 4 months to get an appointment as he was between moving from Santa Monica to San Diego. I was so nervous as I waited with my husband for my first consultation, after having 2 main doctors that couldn't help and 3 others that I had briefly seen that still couldn't help this was the moment of truth for me. He walked in after exchanging pleasantries, first thing he said to me after he sat down was don't be nervous I have studied your MRI and I can do the surgery. I held my composure but I just wanted to burst into an ugly cry. For the first time a doctor had to put 5 years of nobody wanting to help to rest in 2 minutes. He went over the MRI with me and told me I had approximately 7-12 fibroid. One was measuring about 10cm another about 8cm. He gave all the options for surgery we concluded on open myomectomy. I was so nervous before the surgery and he looked at me and promised me he would take care of me. He also promised my husband that they would keep him updated with the surgery progress and they did. Being a nurse didn't help my nerves but Dr. Parker and his team gave me so much hope. I had traveled from Texas to San Diego to find a doctor to help me and it's best decision I could have made. I'm almost 5 weeks post surgery and had my first period a few days ago. For the first time in I can't remember how long, I had a period with almost 0 clots, I never knew my period could be any other colour than almost black, my husband laughed when I said that I never knew my uterus could produce oxygenated blood because my period finally looked like blood and not the colour of charcoal with scary looking clots. I'm looking forward to having my life back. I would recommend Dr. Parker in a heartbeat anytime any day. I am still healing but just little things like bending and not feeling pain from my bulge or just kneeling comfortably in church last Sunday realising that it was my fibroids pressing on the pew in front of me that used to make me so uncomfortable. It's amazing how this surgery is already improving my life, I thank God for leading me to find this amazing surgeon. I am so grateful. read more

I did lots of research prior to choosing Dr. William H. Parker (I refer to him as The Wizard) to do my myomectomy. He and his staff are very knowledgable, informative, and simply awesome. My experience with Dr. Parker and his office was amazing from consultation till post op. If you're in the market for fibroid removal, I highly recommend this consummate professional. I had an amazing experience with Doctor Parker from beginning to end. I was told by my regular gynecologist that my uterine fibroid was too difficult to remove laproscopically due to it's size and placement but if anyone could do it, Dr Parker could, so she referred me to him because I didn't want an open surgery. The fibroid was effecting several areas on my life and I wanted to have it removed and this was my last option before considering an open surgery. Dr Parker had me get an MRI to get the specifics on the size, location, etc. When we went over the results, I was happy to hear his confidence in being able to remove it laproscopically, no problem. He instantly put me at ease. I met with him a few times before surgery and everyone in his office is wonderful- really caring and attentive. As far as Doctor Parker goes, he is the most knowledgable doctor you can go to if you're dealing with fibroids. Seriously, the go-to man. He educated me while I was in his office and he answered my multitude of questions patiently and extensively. He's also kind and humorous when it's needed. My surgery was a breeze. The UCLA facility is very modern, new and clean and everyone there was so beyond nice and attentive. I was only only pain meds for a day afterward and felt like I had so much more energy than before with the fibroid. It's been 2 weeks post-op and I'm healing really well and feel so much better. I am so grateful to a Doctor Parker! I recommend him to any woman with fibroids. read more

I was really disappointed!! Dr. Parker is supposedly a "fibroid expert" and women from all over the US see him for fibroids. Yes, he knows the various medical treatments to remove fibroids. However, he does not discuss what causes the fibroids or how to prevent new ones. During my internet research and a visit to my Naturopath, I found that fibroids are caused by xenoestrogen (environmental toxins that mimic estrogen). These include stress, birth control, pesticides, HCG diet, coffee, junk and fast foods, saturated fats, sugar, dairy, non-organic meat, bleached white flour and processed foods, alcohol and tobacco. Not once were any of these mentioned!! I also learned that the following things help shrink and prevent fibroids: DIM, progesterone cream, Vitamin D, digestive enzyme tablets, raw fruits/vegetables and beans, lose weight, flaxseeds, and castor oil packs. He did not mention these either!! So yes, if you prefer surgery, go to him. But... if you want to know the cause and how to prevent new fibroids, go to a Naturopath or do internet research. One very disturbing thing he told me was that, gynecologists usually recommend a hysterectomy for fibroids but it is never actually needed. He said fibroids can always be removed while leaving the uterus in tact. read more

Dr. William Parker and staff are awesome!!!! I was told by my OBGyn that a "full-hysterectomy" was needed to remove my large fibroids... Obviously, devastated by the news, I needed a second opinion. I tried several Gynecologist's in the bay area and never got a call back, etc. During my search for alternative procedures for Fibroid removal, I found Dr. Parker. What a blessing!! He was understanding and patient answering all my questions. His Knowledge and expertise made me confident in my decision to have my surgery in Southern California. He was genuinely concerned for my well-being, before and after surgery, it was exactly what I needed to help me through that ordeal. It's been just over just over 7 months since my Fibroid removal, and I feel awesome!! I would definitely recommend Dr, William Parker to anyone!! read more

My gratitude towards Dr Parker is beyond words. You will not find a more skilled, kinder, more professional doctor/surgeon in this field. Dr Parker takes the time to explain all of your options. You will leave your first appointment feeling like you finally understand what is happening and what your options are. I tried an alternative route and was unsuccessful. After living in extreme pain for a year, I am so pleased Dr Parker was recommended to me. My surgery was flawless. Dr Parker and his team were amazing. And, I finally feel like myself again! I literally felt like I had aliens inside of me. You will be cared for so beyond your expectations. I only wish I could see Dr Parker for all my medical needs. read more

This review is long overdue. I had surgery through Dr. Parker last year for my fibroids and endometriosis. I am a family physician who did a lot of research prior to finding Dr. William Parker. He is truly the best fibroid specialist in southern California and his bedside manners are exceptional. I recommend him in a heartbeat. In fact, if you research his patient experiences, you'll notice that he has not one negative review and that all his filtered reviews are positive. He is that awesome. He is considered top notch as well on a yahoo uterine fibroid group site. Prior to finding him, I had to go through my insurance network to see a GYN specialist. I was convinced that fibroids contributed to miscarriage but none of my in-network physicians cared and their attitude was to let it be. I truly liked the fact that Dr. Parker showed me evidence-based research regarding fibroids and he was patient in answering all questions I had. My insurance denied the specialists I requested and despite an appeal with a supportive PCP, I still met roadblocks. I did see 4 other specialists prior to settling on Dr. Parker. Dr. Parker was the only one who exuded confidence and I had confidence in him from the very start. One of the in-network specialists I saw (and was told I had to settle with if I wanted surgery) gave me zero confidence. In fact, the in-network specialist stated that I needed a staged surgery to fully remove my fibroid which can take couple to several surgeries(he implied it was unpredictable) and wanted me to know that I had to sign a contract that released him from any negative outcomes on the very first meeting. That gives me absolutely no confidence, esp when Dr. Parker stated he can easily remove the fibroid in one surgery. In the end, I trusted Dr. Parker the most and already made my decision. During the surgery, there were additional findings that Dr. Parker took care of, knowing my best interest at heart. He was willing to accomodate my requests as reasonable. His follow up both by himself as well as his staff was also excellent. Although Dr. Parker is not in any network, he was still well worth it in every aspect. I have never met a more compassionate, patient, understanding, and genuine specialist...no doubt the reason he is able to easily establish great rapport with all of his patients. His expertise and knowledge inspires confidence and trust that puts anyone at ease when undergoing a serious decision such as surgery. Even if you are not sure, it is worth it to get a consult with him at the minimum. read more

I first saw Dr. Parker five years ago. My periods had started to become unbearably heavy and unpredictable. The final straw was during a work trip when I bled through my tampon and pad on the flight home. I would get anxious leading up to my period, knowing my flow would be life altering. After some testing, Dr. Parker clearly laid out all of my options without judgment or pressure, previously visited gynecologists were ready to open me up, something I wasn't ready to do. Two years ago, I went to an orthopedist for chronic back pain, the MRI indicated an enlarged uterus, my fibroids had indeed grown and were pushing on my bladder and spine. I reached out to Dr. Parker again, his bedside manner, knowledge and experience in treating fibroids put me at ease and I decided to have the surgery. Surgery went smoothly and was relatively painless. I am SO PLEASED to report that I am now 4 months post-op and have not had back pain since my surgery. My periods are slowly getting back to normal and I am no longer anxious to be out in public on days 2 and 3 of my cycle. I can't thank Dr. Parker enough for giving me my life back! read more

We searched for nearly a year to find someone to help with my fibroids... please note that I've had a procedure previous so I have a lot to compare this experience to. I can't give Dr. Parker and his team enough stars to communicate how much better my experience with. His consultation style and exams are caring, honest and straight forward. He's patient while explaining the processes, and I never felt rushed. It was old school medicine... like where the doctor cares about your quality of life, a better healing process, reducing the risk of potential complications...just so much better! I was on his wait list bc my first experience with another surgery was so bad, I was willing to wait for the best. Glad I did! read more

Dr. Parker is caring, patient, gentle and has a good sense of humor. His surgical skills and decision making abilities appear to be excellent. He visited me in hospital daily and called me once a day, too. I had a little trouble 2 weeks post-op and the doctor on weekend call in his office, Dr Roti, called me several times to check in and be sure I was OK. I am truly surprised at how helpful and apparently truly concerned about me they have been from the very first appointment forward. read more

Really there are no words to describe, how grateful and blessed I feel to have had Dr. Parker as my surgeon. My fibroid journey up until meeting Dr. Parker was bleak and ridden with negative feedback. All that was previously recommended from various gynecologists, was to have a flat out hysterectomy. No other options or choices. But, I knew there had to be a surgeon somewhere, that could handle and had the experience and expertise to perform such surgeries. When I finally found Dr. Parker, and had my consultation and visit with him, I immediately knew I was in the right place. He not only explained my options, but put me at complete ease from beginning to end. Most importantly, he listened to my concerns and understood why I wanted and opted for a myomectomy. I'm extremely grateful to him and his staff. He's the best!! Thank you Dr. Parker. read more

As women and a nurse I want to say a big thank you to Dr. Parker who is an outstanding surgeon and have the individualized approach to each patient. I have had a large uterine fibroid and was told by other surgeons that hysterectomy will be the safest choice, but it wasn't a greatest choice for me at all, that was not my choice! Dr. Parker was able to run some test ( blood test LHD, MRI, and hysteroscopy) and determine that laparoscopic myomectomy is acceptable and the way to go. The surgery was successful and I was able to return to work in 1 week! Thanks again to the exceptional knowledge Dr. Parker! read more

I was seen by Dr. Parker from April 2014 until July 2015, when I had my fibroids removed. From start to finish, not only was Dr. Parker thoughtful and sentimental to the struggle it was to live with fibroids, he took the time to speak with me and my mother, via speakerphone, to explain what my surgical options were, the details of the surgery, as well as the length of time to heal/ what to expect. I almost get tearful thinking about how pleasant the process was with him, despite my fear of having to have surgery. I'm really grateful for Dr. Parker as he was patient and thoughtful. In my experience, sometimes the longer a medical professional has been doing his job the less engaging they are with patients and their families. The true doctors, the ones who take the time to see a human patient, not just a number, are rare these days. I'm so incredibly grateful that I did not have that experience, especially with a surgery so important to me. read more

I'd like to start by saying how incredibly blessed and fortunate I am that I found Dr. William Parker to consult with when deciding my uterine fibroid treatment plan and to conduct my laparoscopic myomectomy. Dr. Parker's work is remarkable and goes above and beyond standard care. Parker's credentials and level of expertise coupled with his attentive bedside manner makes you feel at ease throughout the entire process. If you or a love one is dealing with fibroids I highly recommend getting a consultation with Dr. Parker. My uterine fibroid journey started during my 30th birthday trip back home to San Diego, CA. I went into my gynecologist appointment expecting a standard annual checkup, however my doctor said she could feel about a 6cm mass. I was recommended to get an open abdominal myomectomy within 6 months to reduce the risk of complications if the fibroid were to grow bigger. However, this recommendation did not sit well with me. I'm a firm believer that less is more, I did not want to increase my possibilities of having complicated childbirths in the future, and I felt I was not being told the whole picture. I grew up within the medical field with a father as a surgeon and after helping my mother choose her oncologist during her cancer journey, I knew how critical it was to select the right surgeon for you. I was determined to get other expert opinions before choosing my treatment plan. After extensive research and receiving several other opinions from doctors around the world--California to Austria--I was still unsatisfied with the vastly different treatment plans I was recommended. I finally discovered Dr. Parker's website. I read every page and article referenced and felt I struck gold--every question I still needed answers to were answered and I immediately felt more confident there was a solution I would be comfortable with. Dr. Parker's staff is exceptional--the entire process to become a new patient and scheduling my consultation, surgery and post-op consultation was extremely smooth regardless of living in another country and having a tight work schedule. When consulting with Dr. Parker, instead of providing only one treatment option like the other doctors, he presented four and went into great detail on each providing data, images and graphs to ensure I had all the information to make my decision. Parker even made a personal phone call to the only doctor in the area who specializes in the MRI Guided Focused Ultrasound to review my case and confirm if this was an option for me prior to my scheduled surgery. To be frank, the day of surgery I was a bit nervous with this being my first surgery. However, with Dr. Parker by my side and making his presence known throughout the entire day, I couldn't have dreamt of better personalized care. Again I can't stress it enough, I highly recommend Dr. Parker to anyone who is seeking clarity on their fibroid journey. Dr. Parker is saving the world, one uterus at a time. read more

Dr Parker is an amazing physician, surgeon and overall person. I saw him after I was told I needed a hysterectomy for my fibroid. I knew there had to be something out there. He was so positive and when we looked over my MRI together I understood my fibroid. I had surgery late Aug 2014, abdominal myomectomy . I was nervous but it was not at all. If you are looking for a Doctor that is dedicated to; skillfully removing fibroids from the female body, the health, restoration, and preservation, of his patient's health, as well as the health of all women's reproductive systems now, and in the future, then meet with Dr. William Parker. I was working out and became quite dizzy...I felt myself starting to faint. I was anemic and I had no idea! After going to the Dr., I discovered that the small fibroids I had hanging out in my uterus decided to grow quite large and multiply...I now had 5 large fibroids. One was 9 cm's and I had a few that were 3 cm's. The location of the fibroids, and their now larger size, begun causing me all sorts of medical issues. The fibroids were sitting on my bladder and I was running to the restroom all of the time. I was finding it more and more difficult to sleep through the night. I was exhausted, anemic, uncomfortable, having 2 periods a month and becoming more and more depressed daily about my health, expanding waist line and the uncomfortable pressure and pain of the fibroids pushing on my belly. I met with 7 Doctors before I found Dr. Parker. Consultation after consultation, I started to get the feeling that the female uterus was "out of fashion". When did this happen? When did tossing a female uterus in the trash become option #1 and not the last resort? Is the uterus not a major organ that brings forth a human life? Dr. Parker value's the female uterus and will save your uterus IF possible. Dr. Parker has the skill set and experience to perform many fibroid related surgeries that other doctors do not. It is just that simple. Dr. Parker can offer his patients more options as he has the ability to successfully perform various complicated surgeries to remove fibroids. After reviewing my menu of options presented to me by Dr. Parker, to address my fibroids, I decided that an abdominal myomectomy would be the best option for me. I had an abdominal myomectomy with Dr. Parker in November 2015 and Dr. Parker removed 2 lbs of fibroids from my body. It's has been almost 6 months since my surgery and...I feel like a new person!! Save yourself time and consult with Dr. Parker first. Dr. William Parker really is one of the best and the most skilled doctors in the country performing fibroid related surgeries. read more

Dr. Parker is the best! He expertly removed a fibroid the size of a small watermelon for me. The surgery was successful and it is all because of his exceptional degree of expertise. I was diagnosed with a large fibroid in early 2013. I had never heard of fibroids but have since personally experienced how they can diminish the quality of life of a woman. Over the next four years, I consulted eight doctors and most of them told me that I must have my uterus removed (one was prepared to attempt a myomectomy, but said that he was not the doctor for me unless I accepted the possibility of an emergency hysterectomy). My fibroid was then at 10cm, and the size of a grapefruit. In my quest to seek the best health outcome, I have heard it all in terms of what women seeking help are commonly told. Although I had taken time to research fibroids and to ask questions that would allow me to make an informed decision, I was told by two doctors that I was an "interesting woman" and an "expert patient" - neither in a complimentary way. Two doctors even recommended that I have a hysterectomy because it would be better for them! Time passed because I was not comfortable with this advice. I tried Focused Ultrasound treatment which relieved some symptoms for a short time, but the fibroid continued to grow until it was at 15cm and my uterus at 22 weeks. I was so uncomfortable, could not fit into my clothes or eat a normal meal without feeling sick, I had difficulty exercising and felt tired and low. I again sought help in early 2017, only to be told that I had no normal uterus and that there was nothing left to put together in a myomectomy; that my cervix was crushed; that I would need to have my uterus, fallopian tubes, cervix and possibly one ovary removed; and that a myomectomy was high risk, would result in a big scar, and could lead to uncontrollable blood loss. I was also told that I needed to act quickly due to the high risk of DVT because of the pressure of the fibroid on major veins. I emailed Dr. Parker that evening. My experience with Dr. Parker could not have been more different. I had a phone consultation with him in March 2017. One of the first things that he said was "I am 100% certain that you do not need a hysterectomy", while showing me healthy uterine tissue on my latest MRI. His gentle and calm manner came across over the phone, so I decided to travel from Australia to the US to see him in late June. When he examined me, he said cheerfully that it was great that I only had one fibroid, even though it was large, as it would only take him 1.5 hours to remove and was technically easier than removing multiple fibroids. He assured me that he had successfully removed larger fibroids from other women. I was stunned as this was the complete opposite of everything else I had heard. Dr. Parker has a great sense of humour that put me at ease and a genuine concern for patients that gave me confidence that I had not wasted time or money to see him. Dr. Parker performed my abdominal myomectomy on 3 July at UCLA Medical Centre. The procedure took a little over an hour, and one large fibroid and a pea-sized fibroid not visible by MRI were removed, with minimal blood loss (50cc). The level of care at UCLA Medical Centre was outstanding. Both Dr. Parker and one of his residents came to check on me every morning during my two-night stay. Dr. Parker also called me each evening - including on 4 July, when everyone else was watching the fireworks. His kindness in ensuring that I knew as soon as possible about the benign pathology result was much appreciated. Although I am now only 4 weeks post-op, I already feel better than I have in years. Dr. Parker's level of care includes asking me to keep him informed of the result of my six-week post-op visit back in Australia. Before I travelled to the US, I read Dr. Parker's stellar reviews online and the cynic in me wondered whether anyone could be that good. The truth is, Dr. Parker is that good, and no written review can do justice to this extraordinary healer. Believe me - it is worth every penny to travel any distance to see him. Although my case was not challenging for someone of Dr. Parker's calibre, the surgery has still had a big impact as it means the world to me to be fibroid free. If you are lucky enough to have received advice or treatment from Dr. Parker, please repay that good fortune by telling every woman you know who has fibroids to get another opinion, especially if the only option given to them is hysterectomy. There is an article by Dr. Parker on his website about myomectomy myths which cites evidence that even if the ovaries are kept, hysterectomy before age 50 is associated with a significant increase in the risk of heart disease and stroke. Women need to be aware of this information when making important decisions about their health. Despite my difficult experience before I met Dr. Parker, my story is one of hope: don't give up, insist on asking questions about all the treatment options, and don't give in until you get the right health outcome. read more

Attorney- Virgin Islands (British) I am a 33 year old woman with no children but do hope to have children one day. In 2007, while in law school, I fell ill and was extremely weak and dizzy. After many checks the doctors determined that I was anemic (due to heavy menstrual cycles accompanied by clots) and advised that I use a lot of iron supplements. By 2010, I began to gain weight around my abdominal area, but I reckoned that this was simply normal weight gain as a result of reduced physical activity. To my dismay, during my regular yearly exam, my General Practitioner informed me that she suspected I had fibroids and requested an ultrasound to authenticate the same. I then began consultations with a local gynecologist who reviewed my case and determined my situation was not so dire (6 fibroids largest approximately 4.8 cm) and advised that it was better to adopt the "watch and wait approach". Two years were spent "watching and waiting"; by this time the fibroids grew and another one showed up on the ultrasound. My abdomen size increased and the gynecologist decided an abdominal myomectomy would be the ideal solution. However, he expressed skepticism to proceed with the abdominal myomectomy because one of the fibroids was in close proximity to my tubes. And moreover since I did not want an abdominal incision, a laparoscopic surgery would be best but he (the gynecologist) does not perform this type of surgery. Three years later (2013), I was still living with fibroids, I was getting heavier periods, constant urination from bladder pressure caused by the fibroids, discomfort in my pelvic area during ovulation, lower back pain, discomfort during menstruation and congratulatory messages from well meaning individuals who perceived, from the appearance of my abdomen, that I was an expectant mother. I grew tired of all this and sought the opinion of two other gynecologists, one in neighboring Puerto Rico and the other locally. Still unsatisfied and disillusioned, while busy at work one day, I asked a friend to search for the best laparoscopic surgeon in the United States. In a matter of minutes she called back and said "I think I found him". She gave me the name Dr. William Parker. I sat for hours reading and researching about Dr. Parker and was very impressed by what I read. Dr. Parker's CV was phenomenal, his patient reviews excellent and his website was very informative. Further, I surmised that not only does this doctor have extensive experience in this type of surgery, but was held in such high regard by his peers that he was chosen to impart his knowledge to the students of the prestigious UCLA. I thought to myself that surely he must be better than the other gynecologist whom I had consulted. I made the call and upon Dr. Parker's request I did an MRI (the first and only doctor to request same). I made an appointment and flew from the British Virgin Islands to California to meet with Dr. Parker. Meeting with Dr. Parker was really comfortable. Although he is an extremely accomplished surgeon, Dr. Parker spoke to us (my friend and I) as though we were his old friends, people he knew and loved for years and was excited to see once again. It was easy to forget that this was actually a doctor-patient meeting. Dr. Parker reviewed my MRI with me, wrote down all the options that were available to me, ruled out those that were not recommended for my particular case, answered the myriad of questions I asked and simply allayed all my fears. It was evident that his knowledge on the subject matter was very extensive. After this meeting, he allowed me time to choose the option I felt most comfortable with and to make the necessary appointment when I was ready. After much consideration, I made the long trip back to California to have the abdominal myomectomy. Although initially I disapproved of the abdominal myomectomy, I decided to take that option mainly because Dr. Parker discovered a smaller fibroid that went undetected by the other gynecologist and could not be removed laparoscopically. On Nov 10, 2014, I had my abdominal myomectomy at the UCLA, Santa Monica Health Center. Dr. Parker removed, to my horror, a total of 17 fibroids without complication. I had no pain from the incision itself, thanks to the ON-Q pump Dr Parker left in place a few days post op. While in hospital he visited everyday and called every evening to ensure I was fine. And for the one morning that he had another engagement, he told me before hand that he would not be able to come to see me that morning but would call, which he did. Dr. Parker is simply extraordinary at what he does. To those women suffering with fibroids, I would recommend that, before making a life altering decision, seek out the expertise of Dr. William Parker. He has proven to be the best gynecologist I have consulted regarding fibroids- and trust me, I've seen a few. Thank you Dr. Parker and team!!!!! read more

Dr. Parker is truly a godsend, simply amazing. My first myomectomy was back on April 2005 with my former gynecologist. Before surgery, he reminded me that since I rejected the treatment option - hysterectomy, he will just stop the operation if he found the fibroid was too difficult to be removed, or possible high bleeding risk. Fortunately, the surgery seemed to go well, one big fibroid was removed along with few smaller ones. But he also told me that there were still some fibroids left inside of me. Eight years later on Oct. 2013, I went to see the same gynecologist again because I started having abdominal pain and loosing a lot of blood during menstrual cycle. This time he didn't bother to do any exam, not even abdominal palpation, only looked at my fully dressed, covered tummy and said well, it's the same problem, just need a surgery. Then he asked me to sign a form without explaining anything to me. It was my fault, I should ask, it's an informed consent for hysterectomy. I was so shocked and confused when I received the approval letter. So I called and asked why he didn't explain to me it's for hysterectomy. But he in turn asked: What type of treatment options did you expect?! Myomectomy? No! It's impossible to remove a fibroid that large without removing the uteris. I asked how large was my fibroid? He said it's large. I asked again how large was that large? He couldn't answer. Then finally he said (with ridicule) if you think you can find a surgeon who MIGHT be able and willing to perform myomectomy, go ahead.... I felt my head completely empty and numb, not knowing what to do. I stared at the computer screen and started typing "second opinion fibroids", and the very top link (the only link I clicked) was "Fibroids - A gynecologist's second opinion", from Dr. Parker! I started reading all the information as fast as I could, like a drowning man grabs at everything about him, and soon realized that Dr. Parker is my only hope. I learned that it may actually be less risk of complications during myomectomy than hysterectomy, which completely opposite from what I had been told. I also checked "Fibroid Photos" section which gave me so much confidence that my fibroids weren't too large to be removed, I have hope! No matter how long it takes, no matter how far, I will find Dr, Parker. Very fortunately, Dr. Parker is in Santa Monica, CA. The first consultation with Dr. Parker was amazing. He was very kind, very approachable, more than being just professionals, he listened to what I had experienced and answered all my concerns regarding different treatment options based on my conditions. He also gave me an easy understand fibroid illustration with anatomy diagrams and explained the problem I had and how will he perform the surgery. After the meeting with Dr. Parker, all my fears, anxieties and frustrations just melted away! I had 26 week size uterus when the surgery took pace. But the operation with Dr. Parker went very very well, no complication, only estimated 200 cc blood lose. All visible and palpable fibroids, totaling 38, were removed including large 11cm posterior fibroid and 7cm cervical fibroid. The medications used before, during and after surgery were also fully explained to me. Such as Scopolamine patch which can help preventing nausea associated with recovery from anesthesia and surgery; 2 tablets of Cytotec can help decrease surgical blood loss, and ON-Q pain pump, an innovative device was used to relive post-operative pain. Besides, I was so impressed by the 6-page summary report. Information like pre-op and final diagnosis on skin, endometrium and uterus; microscopic and detail gross descriptions; tissue exam with collection information of 3 specimens, each one with pre-op diagnosis and final result; and a whole page of description of surgery procedure. Just by reading the report I know I was in good hands with Dr. Parker. After the surgery, I finally realized that why a nightmare of one's illness can become a dream of recovery. All because the care, concern, personal attention and professional services that I have received from Dr. Parker. Now it's been a personal mission of mine to encourage all my friends to check on Dr. Parker's website, This website is very well written and very educative, fills with so much important and valuable, up to date fibroids treatments options informations. Dr. Parker is truly the most outstanding gynecologist a patient could ask for. There are not enough words for me to express my gratitude. I will always be grateful to have found such an incredible doctor like Dr. Parker. read more

"Fibroids? What's that?" I asked my gynecology nurse practionier. "Oh, it's just a fibroid - it's nothing to worry about." Well, guess what - it apparently was something to worry about... Over time I had noticed a large lump on my abdomen and started experiencing slightly heavier periods. My gynecologist ordered an ultrasound and discovered multiple fibroids. He then placed me on Provera supposedly to turn off further menstruation and referred me to a surgeon. Unfortunately, it took nearly four months to get in to see the first of several surgeons. During that time the Provera, which was supposed to have stopped my cycles so as to prevent heavy bleeding did just the opposite. I ended up with non-stop extremely heavy bleeding everyday with fist sized blood clots. It was terrifying to say the least. When I finally had my appointment with the surgeon I was told my uterus was comparable to a 22 week pregnancy and there were "too many fibroids to count." The surgeon explained I would have to have at least 4 blood transfusions and a minimum of two surgeries, and even then there was no guarantee I would be able to keep my uterus. I began looking for another surgeon for a second opinion and during this time I had collected my medical records from both the surgeon and my regular gynecologist and found other "phantom" Doctors had been consulted on my case without my knowledge. My records were full of comments such as, "Forget about it - keeping the uterus is out of the question", "She should have a hysterectomy", "Patient appeared paralyzed regarding surgery decision", and "If does not utilize donor eggs/IVF, then total abdominal hysterectomy only.", and finally, "that boat has already sailed". I found another surgeon for a second opinion on my case. This Doctor ordered an MRI and was able to at least tell me about the number and sizes of the fibroids. Unfortunately, he continually explained that he did not truly know if my tumors were cancerous or not and wanted to perform a surgery right away. He stated his method would be a large vertical incision during a minimum six hour long surgery in which I more than likely would lose the uterus anyway, or be left with "a non-functional piece of salami" for a uterus. After seeing several Doctors I was frustrated and at my wits end. I started searching the internet for information on fibroids and came across Dr. Parker's website fibroidsecondopinion.com. I decided to forward a copy of my MRI to Dr. Parker not even sure I would ever receive a response. A few days later, I received a phone call from Dr. Parker's office stating he would like to take me as a patient and I scheduled a phone consultation. The phone consultation was incredible - I had a list of over 20 questions I had sent to Dr. Parker before our phone call and he took the time to answer every single one of them and not once seemed rushed or impatient with me. I knew that this was the Doctor to perform my surgery even though I had never met him face to face. I immediately booked a surgery. My family truly thought traveling from Denver to Los Angeles to have a surgery was absolutely crazy, and there were many unfounded fears and irrational arguments but in the end it was the best decision I have ever made. Dr. Parker repaired my enlarged 21 week sized uterus. He removed two 10 cm fibroids and 18 other smaller sized fibroids and 1 endometrial polyp -- and I still have my uterus, and I didn't have to have a single unit of blood during surgery. Dr. Parker was truly amazing. He checked in on me twice a day while in the hospital. He called me every evening to see how I was feeling. I was out of the hospital within three days and was able to walk, go out to restaurants, and walk the beach. I would highly recommend Dr. Parker. He definitely goes above and beyond. Dr. Parker put sunshine back into my life, a spring in my step and a smile on my face and I feel like I have my life back again. Words just can't describe how thankful and blessed I am to have found Dr. Parker. If you are like me and are frustrated, scared, confused, and just feeling hopeless about your fibroid situation take it from me: there is hope and miracles do happen. Be strong and don't be afraid - get a second opinion from Dr. Parker! read more

Though I live in Saint Paul, Minnesota, I came to know Dr. Parker in 2014 after learning I had an 8cm fibroid that was causing me to hemorrhage and feel trapped in a struggle with anemia, fatigue and depression. Had it not been for the FDA's Safety Communication five months earlier discouraging the use of power morcellation in removing fibroids, I might never have found my way to Dr. Parker's pleasant Santa Monica office and into his exceptional care. As a thirty-five year-old mother of two school-aged children, I was desperate for relief from my fibroid symptoms so that I could support my children through their own medical challenges. At a time when I needed compassionate care and minimally invasive treatment options to get back on my feet quickly, I was disheartened to find doctors who seemed rushed, ill-informed and under-confident in providing the care I needed. Both of the highly recommended surgeons I met with in my area cited the flawed FDA analysis that I might have a 1 in 350 chance of spreading an undetected uterine cancer if I decided to have the fibroid removed laparoscopically. The first OBGYN I saw said he would be willing to attempt a myomectomy, but expressed a strong preference for a hysterectomy by removing my uterus, fibroid, and cervix through my vagina using a scissor and scalpel. When I asked in shock if such a radical-sounding procedure would require removing my fallopian tubes and ovaries, he replied that he could "take" those as well, if I wanted. The second OBGYN I saw agreed that due to the cancer risk - again citing the FDA's flawed analysis - a hysterectomy was the safest option, but suggested she could remove the fibroid through a navel incision with a scalpel - a procedure she admitted (after I asked) she had done only once. What a relief to find Dr. Parker after entering the words "fibroid" and "cancer" into a Google search. His website is a gift to women like me, filled with reassuring information supported by well-designed peer-reviewed studies, all of which calmed my fears about having a sarcoma. As impressed as I am with Dr. Parker's research and clinical expertise, what impresses me more is his kindness and willingness to be an ally for women. Not only did he (and his website) reassure me that my chances of having a sarcoma were small (more like 1 in 1,500) and that he could remove my fibroid laparoscopically, he reassured me that it is both reasonable and wise for me to want to keep my uterus. Working with Dr. Parker has been a pleasure. He started all of our appointments on-time, allowed plenty of time for discussion and questions and treated my husband and me with warmth and respect. My husband said it felt great for a doctor, especially a surgeon in high demand, to feel so present during appointments and at no point make us feel rushed. Dr. Parker and his staff made every effort to help us feel at ease before, during and after the surgery. He spoke with my husband immediately after the surgery and reported that everything had gone perfectly. I had minimal blood loss and no complications. At my post-op appointment he shared with us that during the surgery he found a small paratubal cyst and a few small spots of endometriosis. He removed the cyst and sent it to pathology along with the fibroid (both of which were benign) and cauterized the endometriosis. I felt as if I'd had a gynecologic tune up. At the end of the appointment he walked us out and offered a heartfelt goodbye that made it clear this man loves what he does and realizes the difference his empathic care makes in the lives of his patients. Now, eleven weeks after surgery, I'm full of gratitude to have steadily improving health, to have energy again to do the things I love, and to have my uterus. Not only has Dr. Parker helped me heal from having a fibroid, he's helped me heal from the experience of finding a surgeon to remove it. read more

About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with fibroids during my regular yearly exam. My belly was very large but I had no other symptoms and having just gone through some very stressful life changes I assumed I had put on a lot of weight. My doctor at the time said the only option was hysterectomy and I got hysterical to be honest. I was 36 years old with no children and while my doctor said this was the only solution, I did not agree. Something in my gut told me this was not right. I went to another doctor and got a second opinion. She too said I should have surgery at some point but that it was possible my surgery would potentially turn into a hysterectomy. She was not confident that she could perform a myomectomy and wanted me to know what the potential outcomes were. This still did not sit right with me so for the next year I sought out natural ways to deal with the bulkiness of my fibroids. I tried Chinese medicine and acupuncture, changed my diet to a fully vegan non-soy diet and while these things certainly helped me get healthy, they only seemed to have a minimal effect on my fibroids. During my next yearly check up my doctor said that the fibroids appeared to have shrunk but that hysterectomy would be my only option and she did not want to perform surgery on me. I left her office devastated. As soon as I got home I jumped online and searched 'worlds top fibroid specialist' because at this point I felt as though I needed to find the best, and let me tell you- I did! I found Dr. Parker and as far as I am concerned, he saved my life. I met Dr. Parker just before the New Year and he reviewed my records and examined me. He told me that I certainly did not need a hysterectomy and that he had operated on women with fibroids bigger than mine, which was a relief because I did look 9 months pregnant! He sent me to get an MRI and said we would circle back to discuss details once he was able to review the MRI. A few days after my scans, Dr. Parker called to let me know that he was no longer quite sure if I had fibroids or not, that my MRI showed something abnormal and it could be a degenerated fibroid or perhaps a sarcoma. Dr. Parker referred me to a surgical oncologist, Dr. Leland Foshag, and told me that no matter what the outcome, he would remain with me through my entire course of treatment. I was truly touched to find a Doctor who genuinely cared. I saw Dr. Foshag one day before New Years Eve and he examined me and reviewed my MRI with me. I finally got to see what was going on inside of me and it was pretty bizarre to say the least. To make a long story a little shorter, we scheduled surgery for February 9th and Dr.'s Parker and Foshag would work together the whole time to insure that I got the best care possible- and I did! The Doctors weren't quite sure what they would find once we got into surgery and what they did find is that I had Cotyledonoid Leiomyoma, an extremely rare type of fibroid, weighing in at about 7 pounds! I literally gave birth! And I had the dream team of Doctors on my side! When I woke up, out of all the worst-case scenarios that could have been, I was blessed and relieved to find that although what I had was rare and large, I was OK! And Dr. Parker made sure that my fertility remained intact, which was so important to me! After surgery I was in the hospital for about a week and Dr. Parker took time out of his busy schedule to check in on me every morning. I have never felt more secure and honestly cared for by a Doctor in my life. When I found Dr. Parker I was at my wits end and I had almost given up hope. I will never be able to properly express my gratitude to Dr. Parker for giving me back my life and providing me with care that went so far above and beyond anything I could have imagined. read more

I knew my ordeal was over at my first appointment with Dr. William Parker. We looked at my pelvic MRI images on his computer and he explained about the fibroids and the reasons for the symptoms including the painful heavy periods, anemia and potential infertility. He pointed out the multiple smaller fibroids in addition to the bigger ones that were mentioned on the MRI report. He recommended abdominal myomectomy to remove all the fibroids. He put the important information together and it all finally made sense. He answered all my questions thoroughly and patiently. He is such a nice person and very smart! I just wish someone pointed him out to me at the very moment I was diagnosed with fibroid. It could have saved me a lot of stress, time and energy. I thank the HERS foundation for guiding me to Dr. Parker finally. That same day I saw Dr. Parker, I set up the appointment for the surgery to be done about 3months later. I cannot begin to explain the sense of relief I felt from that day on. Three days before the surgery, I had the pre-op appointment at Dr. Parker's office. He went over the surgery plan with me. I felt very lucky that I was in safe hands. I also received papers with very helpful and well organized information. It included things to expect after the surgery that Dr. Parker mentioned, and some tips about shopping to do before the surgery. It was a very helpful reference! On the day of the surgery, from the moment I arrived at the UCLA Medical Center at Santa Monica, I noticed how all the different personnel and nurses knew their job and parts they played and how it all synced perfectly; it was impressive how smooth everything went. I was a bit anxious being in a hospital environment and anticipating my surgery. But Dr. Parker came to see me before the surgery and he put me at ease. Post-surgery, I did not feel much pain from the actual surgery area thanks to the ON-Q device that Dr. Parker put on the incision area. The next morning, Dr. Parker showed me pictures of all the fibroids that were removed - there were 9 fibroids! He continued to visit me every morning and called at the end of the day to check on how my day went while I stayed at the hospital for 3.5days. He was very thoughtful and caring. There were several people I met from the time I registered to the time I left the hospital, and everyone was very helpful. One the 5th day after the surgery, I went back to Dr. Parker's office for suture removal. He removed all the tapes, ON-Q catheter and suture, and replaced the Steri-Strips. He was gentle and the procedure was painless and quick. Talking to him about the new symptoms I felt after leaving the hospital - particularly the period-like bleeding, he put me at ease once again. He answered all the questions I had in mind. After I got back to my hotel, I tried to show the result to my mother since the wound covers were removed. It was amazing how we could not instantly locate the exact incision area. My mother was looking close to the general area that had Steri-Strips and her first reaction was "where is it?" Even after we located the incision area, it looked like a thin skin fold; there were no bruises and it was very clean. The incision location was also perfect - it was a horizontal incision low in the bikini area. It was a great work! Dr. Parker is awesome:) Today is the very first day of a new year for 2015. It has been about 3 weeks since my surgery to remove all the fibroids from my uterus. My recovery has been going smooth so far. And I am looking forward to a fresh start to a healthier life thanks to Dr. Parker! read more

I had a single fibroid that grew from 2.7cm to 12.6cm from 2008 to 2018. Since I was diagnosed and treated for kidney cancer in 2016, the fibroid became a concern for me. My regular gynecologist suggested an abdominal hysterectomy with the removal of the left ovary because MRI's and ultrasounds indicated my fibroid was very close to the left ovary. Having lost a kidney due to cancer, I was very unwilling to lose more body parts especially if they don't exhibit problems. I inquired about myomectomy and was told that I had no reason to keep my uterus since I don't plan to have more children and it would be very messy to have to suture up the uterus. I researched for my options and started searching for second opinion. Referred by my PCP, I saw another gynecologist and a gynecologic oncologist. The oncologist recommended hysterectomy. The gynecologist gave me several options including laparoscopic myomectomy, but because of the fibroid size, he said he may change to abdominal surgery if camera shows difficulty or complications in proceeding with laparoscopic approach. From conversations with my sister in law, I learned Dr. Parker is a specialist in providing alternatives to hysterectomy and performed a very successful laparoscopic myomectomy for my sister in law. She suggested that I talk to Dr. Parker before making decisions. In April 2017, I saw Dr. Parker. I was very impressed during the first visit by his thoroughness and the time he spent to explain his diagnose to me. After carefully reviewing all my lab images and lab reports since 2012, Dr. Parker told me that the chance of my fibroid being malignant is less than 1%. I was SO relieved and decided to wait. Contrary to what I had hoped for a shrinking fibroid as I was approaching menopause, the fibroid grew faster in the last 12 months and it started causing discomfort to my abdomen. During this 12-month period, my blood tests showed elevated red blood cell count which my PCP said could be caused by the growing fibroid. I went back to see Dr. Parker in April 2018 and scheduled a laparoscopic myomectomy. After 3.5 hours, Dr. Parker and his team carefully removed my 12cm fibroid that was getting very close to my only ureter with NO tissue damage. I returned home on the day of surgery. On Day 4, I was already moving around at my home without any pain medicine. Now week three, I resumed pretty much all my normal activities except strenuous lifting and exercises. I am VERY happy with the result of my surgery and I'm now free of the physical and emotional burden of the fibroid. Dr. Parker's medical expertise, his 30+ years of surgical/clinical experience and his genuine care for his patients as a medical doctor (not as a business man) were the reasons why I chose him. If you ever decide to treat your fibroid, regardless what state it is, go to see Dr. Parker. There are very few doctors who are as competent and as experienced as Dr. Parker in this field. You will be in good hands just as I and my sister-in-law were. read more

Dr. Parker removed 16 fibroids -- 2 the size of softballs -- and one large cyst on my ovary. He peeled back the cyst, removed it, then reconstructed the ovary. Having these finally out was life changing. There were physical changes -- I could breath easier and wasn't constantly fighting nausea -- and there were emotional changes. I literally woke up happy. Many women I've spoken to who have had their 'girl parts' altered or removed (NOT what Dr. Parker does -- he saves them!) said they experienced harsh emotions such as anger or sadness. I was the opposite. I felt amazing as soon as I woke up, calmer and happier than I'd felt in over a decade. It wasn't the drugs because now, 4 months later, I still feel this way plus my energy is through the roof and I'm thinner. There were no complications. Dr. Parker's surgery was perfect. Dr. Parker's philosophy on medicine: Return the patient to her previously healthy state. Simple, yet so few doctors have this view. I'm from Cleveland, Ohio and 3 OBGYN surgeons told me that I 'required' a hysterectomy for fibroid removal. Their excuses: 1. You don't need your girl parts anyway. 2. There might be too much bleeding if we attempt to remove ONLY the fibroids. 3. Lets eliminate the possibility of ovarian cancer. Synthetic estrogen is perfectly safe (so why don't the male docs. have their gonads removed and take fake testosterone for the rest of their lives if it's so great?) Finally, a doctor leveled with me. She was an OBGYN who had practiced for over 40 years. She explained that the real reason most surgeons don't want to take out ONLY the fibroids is because they simply are NOT skilled. Fibroid removal is a specialty. There are very essential nerves and blood vessels in that area -- Nerves that keep you continent and blood vessels that feed your organs. Dr. Parker has 30+ years experience doing over 100 fibroid surgery removals/year ( 3000+ surgeries). Advice for out-of-staters: Get a National Health insurance plan that covers out-of-state doctors. I got mine through Anthem. If you're worried about travel expenses to have surgery done away from home, it wasn't that bad -- an airline ticket, a car and 7-10 days stay via Airbnb was about $1000. Whatever you choose to do, I would highly recommend reading through Dr. Parker's web site before making a decision. VERY informative. Lastly, Dr. Parker is simply a wonderful, PROFESSIONAL, caring very smart man. I am so lucky he was my surgeon -- Dr. Parker was one of the best decisions I've made in my lifetime. read more

Amy S. - Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Dr. Parker is an exceptional doctor! I discovered him after over five years of suffering with a 9 cm sub mucosal fibroid that grew to 14.5 cm. It was very painful and debilitating and severely reduced my quality of life. The doctors in Canada told me I would most likely have to have a hysterectomy as removing a fibroid this size would "shred" my uterus. I tried everything...herbal remedies, special diets and the like. Nothing would shrink it and I began to feel it was impossible to get rid of. I saw endless years of this growth with no hope in the medical world. While researching on the internet I came across Dr. Parker's site. I was sceptical and hopeful. After all I had been told and read it seemed impossible that there would be a doctor who could remove this large growth and save my uterus. I had a phone consultation with Dr. Parker and he assured me right off that my fibroid could be removed and my uterus preserved. He spoke very confidently of the quality of my womb post-surgery. I scheduled the surgery the next day and 5 weeks later flew from Alberta, Canada to LA, California. When I met him any lingering doubts I had vanished. He is very professional, kind, caring, and most importantly, skilled and knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and listened to all my concerns. I had surgery two days later and was released three days after that. Dr. Parker successfully removed a 14.5 cm, 2.2 lb. sub mucosal fibroid through an abdominal myomectomy without ruining my chances of having children. The thing I had been told wasn't possible! I am now 2 months post op and feel like a million dollars. I cannot believe how free I feel and how my life has opened up before me. I am now preparing to pursue my dream of having a family, Dr. Parker has made that a possibility. Dr. Parker is the best doctor I have ever dealt with. He is genuinely caring and compassionate and takes his profession very seriously. While being prepped for the operation the nurse informed me that there at the hospital all the nurses loved him. She said that he was "meticulous" and "the best". She said also that she had never seen or heard of one of his surgeries going awry and his patients recovered very well. After reading many posts, I agree with the one that says if you suffer from fibroids, "run, don't walk" to see Dr. Parker. It will be one of the best decisions you ever make for your personal well-being and your future quality of life. read more

Elizabeth T - Los Angeles, California For several years I had lived with a gradually growing endometriotic cyst on my ovary. After seeing 3 other surgeons, I was referred to Dr. Parker as the top expert in the field. Even at my first interaction with his office, I was impressed how professional, organized, mentally sharp, and of course, very friendly all his colleagues were. I knew that the practice is well run and no errors would occur. When I met Dr. Parker himself, he immediately put me at ease with his remarkable clarity of explanations and warmth of personality. He shared my desire to preserve as much of my ovary as possible, and I felt that I could really trust his judgment if something unexpected happened while I was unconscious during the surgery (in view of the hundreds of surgeries that he had performed, I did not doubt his technical expertise for a second). Dr. Parker also identified the source of my occasional painful sex moments as a large degenerating fibroid (other doctors advised to "just turn another way"), so I decided to remove it as well. In a few weeks I had my surgery. We started early in the morning and in the afternoon I was already home. The cyst and the fibroid were gone, I virtually lost no blood, and close to 90% of my ovary was saved. I could see 3 small flat cuts on my belly and one right in my belly-button, all stitched up like in plastic surgery, to leave no trace, and covered with Band-Aid-type patches. The scars healed quickly and beautifully -- they look like small scratches now and, I am sure, soon will be gone completely. I had very little pain throughout the entire experience -- just took two prescription pills the very first night, had some sensitivity inside my belly for about a week when laughing or coughing, and that's about it. Probably the worst part was simply laying on my back for the first 2-3 days, except for short trips to bathroom and about. My back and shoulders desperately needed massaging. After 3 days I was already comfortably sitting at my computer desk for hours and moved around with ease. A week later, still somewhat careful and tender, I was already in my high heels out for dinner and movie. Now, few weeks later, everything is completely healed and pains that previously occasionally bothered me are permanently gone. I cannot thank Dr. Parker enough! I could not have imagined a better experience and outcome. read more

I am 54 years old and was diagnosed with fibroids 3 years ago; I was told that I would have to have them removed at some point. I have been monitoring the fibroids with yearly exams and ultrasounds. After the last exam in October 2012, my RNCNP announced that she recommended I seek out a surgeon to have a hysterectomy. I was shocked, it had never occurred to me that to remove the fibroids I would need a hysterectomy. A second diagnosis confirmed that to remove the fibroids, a hysterectomy would be the recommended procedure. When I inquired if the fibroids could be removed laparoscopically, the doctor replied that it is easier and less risk to have the hysterectomy. My internal dialog responded to whom - you or me? Which provoked me to seek out yet another opinion and fortuitously led me to Dr. Parker. My experience with Dr. Parker was exceptional. I was reassured by his confidence and caring demeanor delivered with warmth and genuine professionalism. After our introductory meeting in Dr. Parker's office followed by and examination and our return to his office, I was informed that I did not need surgery to remove the fibroids or a hysterectomy as recommend by the two previous opinions. He explained that over 80% of women have fibroids and if I wasn't experiencing pain, bleeding or the need to urgently and frequently go to the bathroom, there is no compelling reason for surgery in his opinion. Additionally, we discussed that with no family history of cervical or ovarian cancer that I was not at risk. Dr. Parker recommended yearly exams and also stated that when women reach menopause and no longer have blood supply to the uterus, typically the fibroids would diminish in size by 40%. That indeed is good news! He asked if I had any other questions or concerns which I did not. I would also like to commend Dr. Parker's staff, they were extremely courteous, thoughtful and joyful! My blood pressure normally goes up significantly when taken at a doctor's office. From the time that I entered the office, I knew that I felt calm, relaxed and in good hands and it showed with my BP at 120 over 70 something. And to top it all off - Dr. Parker had time to chat with me about basketball. Wishing his Bruins better luck next year with a new coach. read more

L. K. Las Vegas Nevada I had consulted with seven doctors prior to locating Dr. Parker, regarding my ten pound fibroid. I was given seven different diagnoses. The first doctor said" it is possibly a uterine cyst" the second one said" it is possibly a uterine mass", the third doctor said," It is possibly a pelvic mass", the fourth one said," it is possibly an enlarged uterus" the fifth doctor said "it is possibly an abdominal cancer" and she sent me to an oncologist. The oncologist showed me a picture of recently operated person who was almost died from bleeding during the surgery. My case was so complicated according to the oncologist. She suggested possible laparoscopy, laparotomy, and hysterectomy. The sixth doctor suggested to do a total abdominal hysterectomy. The seventh one agreed with the doctor who indicated that it is enlarged myomatous uterus. Even though the CT abdomen and pelvis reports were not clear all the doctors suggested hysterectomy. I refused to do it and I started to search on line. I had found many doctors who do laparoscopy however; when I saw Dr. Parker I was filled with joy and peace. I prayed and decided to contact him. The moment that he saw my abdomen he knew what exactly I had. He told me that it is a fibroid. He told me I do not need hysterectomy. I was so amazed by the knowledge and experience he has. He explained every procedure in detail. When he ordered an MRI he knew what and where to look. For my surprise the fibroid was on the top of my uterus. The seven doctors were going to take my uterus out unnecessarily. The surgery was successful and I was able to walk the same day. No complications, scars, obesity. Not only that he was coming to see me early morning but also on weekends and check on me every afternoon. I was discharged on my third day of admission. I used to weigh 148 pounds but now I am 114pounds. I got my flat belly back!!! I highly recommend Dr. Parker to any woman who has issues with her reproductive organs. read more

My fibroids started becoming very problematic and started affecting my quality of life more significantly about 4-5 years ago. My symptoms were pressure, bloating, back pain and frequent urination; with at least 2-4 nightly visits to the bathroom. After putting of any kind of intervention, I decided to see a gynecologist. After ordering a ct scan, he suggested an abdominal hysterectomy was the only option due to the number and size of my fibroids. I was horrified and depressed, I did not want a hysterectomy nor did I want a large scar up and down my belly. My search for alternatives started at that point. After visiting with three other gynecologists, I was given no other alternative but a hysterectomy. Frantic and discouraged, my search continued on the internet until I came across Dr. Parkers website. I was so impressed by his philosophy in preserving the uterus and the many large fibroids he has successfully removed with a bikini line incision, I felt there was hope for me. I wasted no time in contacting his office. I had my abdominal myomectomy done August 24th 2015 and am recovering very well. Dr. Parker removed 30 fibroids from my very petite frame where I had fibroids coming up to my right rib cage. It feels great not to feel fibroids all the way up to my chest when I sit down. I have a bikini line incision which is healing very nicely. It feels great not to feel the pressure and bloating from fibroids and have a flatter tummy. Most importantly, I have been sleeping through the night w/o trips to the bathroom and the frequency and urgency to go during the day are no longer there. The difference is amazing. I had forgotten normal. Thank you so much Dr. Parker for being such a down to earth and skilled surgeon who really cares about the female reproductive system. read more

Dr. Parker is truly the doctor and expert to go to for fibroids. He is compassionate and caring and his office staff are very nice as well. I was in the process of IVF and found out that I had many fibroids with some of them as large as 10 cm. I was being recommended to have them removed first as they could cause problems with the pregnancy. My goal was to have the fibroids removed while keeping my fertility. Before finding Dr. Parker, I had seen 3 different local doctors for opinions. None of them was able to give me the answers and the confidence result that I was looking for. One of them even said that I might lose my uterus after the surgery. Without giving up, my husband and I started looking for more opinions about fibroids on the internet. That's how we found Dr. Parker. We looked at his website, Fibroids: A Gynecologist's Second Opinion. It has a lot of useful information, including Fertility with Myomectomy, which is what I was interested to know more about. I then called a fertility doctor that I know. I asked him for more information about Dr. Parker and he also highly recommended Dr. Parker. I mailed my MRI to Dr. Parker and had a phone consultation with him. Dr. Parker clearly explained to me how he could help me and gave us the confidence of success. I had a very successful abdominal myomectomy surgery and all my fibroids had been removed. I was able to walk next day after the surgery. It has been 3 months since the surgery and I am very happy with the results. Dr. Parker saved me and gave me a hope for the future. read more

I am truly grateful to Dr. Parker, not only for the second opinion (actually, fifth) that he provided me but also for the "second chance" that he gave my uterus after three local gynecologists recommended hysterectomy and a fourth suggested another procedure in which I did not have full confidence. My holistic perspective on health and wellness has helped me appreciate the energetic relationships among the organs and the value in keeping one's organs whenever possible. Dr.Parker gave me that option, I'll never regret flying all the way from Virginia first to consult with him and then for the procedure. I felt very comfortable with him from day one! Dr.Parker is several steps ahead of others in his profession. After receiving the devastating news from the other gynecologists, their diagnoses based on ultrasound results alone, Dr.Parker 's taking the time to request and consider my MRI and help me explore alternatives was a much-appreciated relief that far exceeded my expectation. Also admirable was his thoroughness in patient care after the abdominal myomectomy. My 23 fibroids, some large, and others not showing up on my ultrasound scans, are now gone! Just one day after the procedure, I was able to walk around in my hospital ward and was feeling only minimal discomfort. Dr.Parker has truly done what I had regarded as impossible! My only regret is that he was my "fifth stop" (he came to my attention only after extensive research) - but to other women experiencing fibroids, I am please to recommend that he be their first. read more

Dr. Parker changed my life now at 50 I am a new woman. For ten years of suffering with uterine fibroids a total of 6 with one being over 10cm I was miserable. Having three children naturally the fibroids began growing at the age of 40. My decision to travel from Connecticut to California to meet Dr. Parker was an answer to a prayer. An opportunity to participate in a satellite performed surgery to teach other doctors the myomectomy laparoscopic surgery was offered to me. I accepted and Dr. Parker reduced his cost by 90% leaving the remaining percent and the outpatient hospital fees. This was money well spent to say the least. Dr. Parker and his staff are all well trained, warm and caring individuals. My husband was with me every step of the way and said " Dr. Parker is the man! " The hospital experience was postive as well , with many caring and dedicated nurses and staff. The operation was a complete success with minimal pain and swelling. The rest and relaxation in beautiful Santa Monica for five days was just what the doctor ordered! and I rested nicely. My overall recovery now three weeks later is great. Miles apart Dr. Parker is still keeping in touch with my progress. A++ in my book. Lastly, Dr. Parker is a strong advocate for women's healthcare and a devoted skilled surgeon that touched my life transitioning it! My life is rich with joy and I am so thankful for the man whose calling in life is outstanding. With Warm Thanks, Donna Stadnyk read more

After discussions with several doctors regarding options for symptomatic fibroids, it was clear that although Dr. Parker was on the other side of the country (I'm on the east coast) he was the best surgeon for me. Being 46 years old most surgeons' first gave me the option of a hysterectomy. Dr. Parker mentioned it as a option but last on the list and then mentioned that given I did not have cancer there was no reason to have a hysterectomy unless I just preferred it. I got the myomectomy in late June and although he removed more than forty fibroids, I healed well. Dr. Parker has good bedside manner and genuinely cares for his patients. He visited me daily whilst in hospital and was responsive to my concerns. He has excellent surgical skills leaving me with only a thin scar line two months out from the surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Parker if you are considering options for fibroid removal. Having had the same surgery performed by a different surgeon five years ago, I can say with confidence that although my previous surgeon was good, there are a number of things that many gynecological surgeons could learn by taking a few classes with Dr. Parker. He is the best and a rare find. SharRon D. read more

I was 37 years old when I realized that two fibroids (one around 10 cm and one smaller) were making my day-to-day life impossible. Since fibroids continue growing until menopause, I felt my only option was surgery. I went to four doctors hoping to find one who was willing to perform the surgery laparoscopically. All four doctors informed me that in order to remove the 10cm fibroid, I would have to have a 4-inch bikini incision that involved 3-4 days of hospital stay. Knowing that I wanted to have the surgery done laparoscopically, the fourth doctor (Dr. Michael Johnson at UCLA Medical Center) suggested I make an appointment with Dr. William Parker in Santa Monica. Dr. Parker answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. He showed me diagrams and explained the procedure in detail. The website is loaded with helpful information. Everyone at Dr. Parker's office is courteous and supportive. Dr. Parker is a very caring physician and an excellent surgeon. For the first time in years, I feel like I can function normally again; it feels great. I spent one night in the hospital and was on pain medication for only three days. read more

F.H from Los Angeles, CA I had a laparoscopic myomectomy done by Dr. Parker in December of 2009. Before I saw him I was scared and confused. Other Drs told me that there is no way to remove my 10 cm fibroid laparoscopicly and they suggested to even remove my uterus completely. So I researched to find an expert doctor and surgeon for removing fibroids and I found Dr. Parker. Dr parker is very knowledgeable about different options to remove fibroids. He is confident and sincere. He took time to explain all my options and told me with confidence that he can remove my large fibroid with laparoscopicly. When I saw him next to set up my surgery date I mentioned to him about my back problem and so in the operating room he made sure I was put in a comfortable position. After I was out of the recovery room he came to visit. During my recovery at home every time I called his office he called me back soon. He did a great suturing job on my cuts. You can hardly see the scars. Dr. Parker is an excellent doctor and surgeon. read more
