If you grew up coming here you'll be pleasantly surprised with the new owners/management, brightened up place, and friendly employees.

Over all fun place to go, however they "renovated" the place... but honestly I'm not sure what was renovated. Still looks a bit outdated.

We came here for my godson's 5th birthday party, and we just did the roller skating and food options, and brought our own cake to celebrate. Since we came in the morning, we had bagels, fruit, sliders, cookies, and brownies. They also had coffee available, as well as a cold water dispenser. The staff was great about getting everyone fitted with skates or rollerblades and out onto the floor. They even have skate mates available for those still getting the hang of skating, which really helps the kids keep their balance. The roller rink area is quite large, with entry and exit points located all around. There's even a kid-friendly, beginner-level area at the back of the rink so little ones have space to learn. I felt the floor was in good condition, and the rental skates were great too! I'm a pretty good skater myself, and I had so much fun skating with the kids and the other parents who joined in too. Can't wait to come back to experience more of the activities they offer!

Add a little kid I love skating and watching adult skate in the streets and I wanted to do that but I always have protective parents so we were only allowed to ride on the street never in the street. A few years ago, I had a surgery on my knee due to a torn meniscus, and I have been desiring to go skating, but life has taken a course where I never made time however, this valentines, and anniversary weekend we decided to go skating. I had such a blast and I realize I really enjoy skating. Although there was a little discomfort in my leg from all the work of going around till midnight on adult night, which is Tuesday and Saturday nights from 9 to 12 PM and it was about $33 for two people with skate rentals. I brought my own skates however the skates that they have are quite nice for rent. I had o much fun watching everyone just smile and enjoy themselves. The staff was quite friendly, the DJ got better as the night got later, and we didn't get a chance to explore the whole new side. We are definitely looking forward to going back again with some other adult friends and experience the whole facility.

However, as I get older and wiser, I tend to branch out in my date Devil adventures...ever so slightly. On my bucket list for a date devil adventure is jumping from a plane. I'm not there yet for parachuting out of a plane. Today, was the big day for what I consider a dare devil adventure.... Ice skating. In my head I repeated this mantra.... Let's go, let's go, let's go!!! You got this. So, sheepishly I walk up to the counter and ask how much the entry fee was...$20 including skates... not cheap but not crazy expensive either. Ok. You can do this. I ask if I sit outside before I go on the ice. No problem the skate representative said. The fee included skating to 1 pm today. I had plenty of time to muster up my courage. Then my mind started to swirl and then spin...fast and faster! Next, I was in a full on Exorcist head turning moment. Girlie, you no spring chicken any more. You are not twenty years old. Why is it so cold in here? Why does it feel like ice is flowing through my veins? Remember when you broke your little toe in two places...exercising.... Ugly boot for three months...no heels for 1.5 years. Run Delores run!!! Your birthday is next month. Do you want to flat heels for your birthday. Nooooooooooooo!!! I jumped up and bolted out of Chaparral Ice like I was being chased my hungry pack of wolves. I applaud myself for trying to be adventurous today. However, I'm not quite there yet. Maybe after my birthday....

Skating under lights with the Austin skyline in the background makes for some really cool photos and a memorable experience. Was able to purchase the tickets online for skate rentals and a one hour skating rink experience. This option for online reservations is nice since it can sell out during busy times. There is seating around the outside of the rink to sit and put your skates on. The rink in general was pretty crowded so not the place for fast skating. The temps were in to 80s so the ice was slushy and lots of melted water, but should be expected ted with an outdoor ice rink in Texas. It is a very festive atmosphere with Christmas decorations galore. Also there are food trucks and options to purchase food and snacks. Overall, a fun holiday activity and a unique way to experience outdoor an ice skating rink in Austin, TX.

We didn't buy anything but noticed that they had a Bar with Snacks, Seating, a Merry Go Round, and the Ice Rink. There were so many people there. The Bar line was long. I couldn't see the Merry Go Round line but the people and families there were enjoying it. The ice rink didn't have too many people trying it but the people attempting to skate were having a good time. This place was packed and full of life. Overall it's a cool place to take photos and family for an experience. I've only been during the day but I'm sure it looks really cool lit up at night.

Off the ice, the facility features an in-house gear pro shop and skate maintenance services, including skate sizing, sharpening, and gear. Further, the facility offers climate controlled indoor sports and fitness facilities as well as both natural and synthetic outdoor fields for year-round use. Beyond sports, the facility has a full bar, food trucks, and a small cafe (on the ice skating rink side). I hosted an ice skating birthday party for Thing Two a few weeks ago. The party was part of a birthday package this location offers that can be found here: https://iceandfield.com/parties-groups/ I opted to add the private lessons for the kids as well as the snow ball fight after the party ($525.00 total, not including the tip for the party host I left). The children at the party had a blast on the ice, but I did have a slight issue with the snowball fight. The "snow" was what was scraped up by the zamboni machine after the public skate. The snow was placed on the backside of the building for the kids to play in, however the snow wasn't roped off in any way so we as the party hosts/guest had to continue to tell others who came outside to play in the snow that this is "paid for snow" and not for public use. The private skating lesson was marked off with cones, and therefore, I assumed the snow would be the same way, but this was not the case. The pizzas for the party were not pizzas made at the location but were pizzas that were ordered from Dominos. For the price point and what was offered, it is on par with other venues that host kids' parties. Check out Gnet A's review of this location from a party guest perspective dated Nov 26th, 2023 (she was a guest at Thing Two's party). https://www.yelp.com/biz/ice-and-field-at-the-crossover-leander?hrid=Kkhjh7Wosdz3LeKjw1LM5Q&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct)
