Great place to take kids for a day of skating. Burger and fries are really good and not priced so high you can't feed 4 people for less then 50 bucks. First time coming here. This is apparently a great hangout in Bastrop. It was fun and the kids had a great time. We were here for a birthday, which was a great place for it. Skate rental was on $5 and they have some sort of pipe rollers for the kids to learn on, with a small practice area. It was really warm and sticky though. There really needs to be more air circulation. I think it would help the overall experience. I kept feeling like I had to wash my hands, but I really felt it was due to how humid and warm it was. My 12 year old daughter's friend had a birthday party here. I took my 9 and 8 year old daughters with us as well. They have never been skating, but they all loved it. There are training forms available for rent for $3, totally worth it! Atmosphere is pretty great actually, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Strangers were helping my kids up off the floor and making sure they were okay. Varied music selection (hip hop, country, pop, etc.) and it's played at a volume that still allows for conversation. Snack bar is very reasonably priced and has a good selection. We went back for pickle pops (50 cents each) three times! I would give 5 stars, but the place is definitely straight out of the 80'/90's and could use some refurbishing. That being said, it definitely took me back to my childhood. We're an hour away, so it's not close, but I do plan on returning for sure!!! EDIT: They only take cash, so plan accordingly! read more

It's a little old and dirty. The bathroom is nasty. They play current music. The floor is in good condition. The kids had fun. That's what matters. Surprisingly the cheeseburger and especially fries are very tasty. Might go back just for a burger. read more

I thought having my daughters 12th birthday party at the skating rink in Bastrop would be awesome idea because she really wanted to visit and celebrate her birthday in our old home town with all of her old school friends. A total of 30 skaters. I called the number on the website to request a reservation for my daughters party ONE WEEK ahead of time. I spoke with a guy named Michael. Michael told me that the price of the party package would be $75. The website said $60 for a party package. I agreed since that was still pretty cheap. He said that the party package came with, one t-shirt for the birthday kid, cups, napkins, plates for cake, one table, six balloons, and included 10 skates. I planned my daughters party on a Wednesday and Michael informed me that the rink was pretty dead on weekdays and that we'd probably be the only people there. He told me that there would NOT be a cook there to serve and cook food. I ran out and bought food to cook and take to the skating rink. My kid is 12 and she came up with the idea to have her favorite foods at the party since there wasn't going to be a cook available. I bought hotwings and nachos to cook at home and take there. Fast forward to ONE DAY BEFORE THE PARTY. 8PM TO BE EXACT. Michael calls me to confirm the reservation. He then tells me that there WILL be a cook. This is great! I was stressing a bit about how much food to bring just in case any other customers who decided to show up and wanted to eat with no feed being served there. He then tells me that WE CAN NOT BRING ANY OUTSIDE FOOD. Only cake, ice cream, and pizza. We would've had to either order pizza to feed the entire party or order food from the cook there. This is all fine...BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT TO KNOW ALL OF THAT THE DAY WE MADE THE RESERVATION.... A WEEK AGO. I was under the impression that there was not going to be ANY food available or provided at skating rink. I had spent most of my money on food and gifts. Everything was going according to plan financialy until he dropped that bomb. I had no money to order enough boxes of pizza to feed an entire party of kids. Nor did I have the money to buy food there at the skating rink for each kid. Keep in mind he said there would be no cook the day of my reservation. Michael told me that his aunt (who I'm guessing is the cook there) said that "she is tired of people bringing outside food in." Which is all understandable. They need to make money too. Had he told me this a week ago when I first made the reservation, I would've had the money to order pizza or included a reminder to bring money for food on the invitations. It's 8pm ONE day before the party. It's too late to call and make reservations somewhere else. It's after business hours and that's not enough time to make a reservation. I explained all of this to Michael. I begged and pleaded for my child's sake and told him that we'd clean up after ourselves as we were only going to have hotwings and nachos. He interrupts me and says, "NOPE, absolutely no chicken, she's hates when y'all bring chicken." Haha he actually said that! At this point I'm over it. Yes, honey, he went there. I give up the battle and inform precious Micheal that the no outside food policy isn't listed on their website.. HE TELLS ME THERE IS NO WEBSITE! He then tells me that his aunt said we can cancel if we wanted to.. absolutely no remorse for the inconveniences they have caused us. Very rude and extremely unprofessional. I've included pictures of the website they said they don't have along with the false advertisement of their prices. We will NOT be visiting this skating rink as we get the vibe that we are not welcome. Definitely not the great spirit we remember Bastrop to represent. What a shame. 1 star. Over all fun place to go, however they "renovated" the place... but honestly I'm not sure what was renovated. Still looks a bit outdated.

Welcome to 1989. Back when I went to the skating rink every weekend for 4 hours with my $230 speed skates that had alternating pink and green wheels and hot pink laces. When I couldn't wait for a sweaty speed skate or the backwards skate or, better yet, the couples skate-- oh, to hold sticky licorice rope hands with the boy I had a skate-crush on. (Hey, Isiah!). All these hopes and dreams popped into my head when we pulled up to the Bastrop Skate Palace. I couldn't wait to zoom all over the floor and hold hands with my new boy (and his decidedly un-sticky hands). Good thing the boy checked first because I was not prepared for a cash only joint. I'm sure I paid in cash when I was a kid but that was long before Apple Pay and credit card chips! We paid $5 each on a Friday night around 7pm. To say the place was dead is an insult to dead people. There was a group of 6 teenage boys who looked like they were waiting for an equal group of teenage girls (who never showed), a family of about 6, a family of 3 and a another family of 4. We went to get our skates and I told the guy my size. He gave me a size smaller and said "Trust me, I've been doing this since 1987". Don't trust him. He doesn't even look old enough to have been doling out skates that long. And he was wrong. After a few painful laps around the rink, we switched to roller blades. For an additional $3 each. They worked much better but I never got my mojo back and gave up after an hour or so. The cutest part was watching this little girl with plastic skates over her shoes and, what can only be described as a walker on wheels, scoot around the rink. We decided that we needed to do it that way because she was having tons of fun. I don't know if it was because we were early or the crowd was light but this staff looked like they all wanted to be somewhere else. The guy running the limbo contest had it on the same ring for like 15?minutes while kids just kept smacking into it or falling under it. Whoever was running the music was sounded like they were using an iPod. Like the giant original version with the dial. And the "DJ" really liked Justin Bieber. Like a lot. It was a sweet, kitschy way to spend a Friday night. I'd come back again with a bigger group of friends from out of town to enjoy the step back in time. let Me start of by saying this place is horrible it looks like a murder could happen here. When you first come in, it's incredibly creepy. The lady that greets you makes you pay 5 dollars per kid even if your child isn't skating! Then when you come in, it's so dark and creepy. The kids there were giving us weird looks and the staff was so mean. The place smelled greasy and old. UGH! And the skates are ANCIENT! they didn't even fully buckle and it's a safety hazard. And the skating floor was so uneven. i bought a lollipop for my kid, and I kid you not, it was rotting. That's how old and disgusting it is. If your going there with your family, I advise you not to go for your own safety. I would highly recommend you to go to playland skate center in Austin. you have a better time even though it's more expensive. It's up to you. lemme just add that the roof was peeling off. They need to make some serious renovations. read more

It was a fun place for daughter's birthday party. Although it was really hot inside. They know it's hot too, because they have fans throughout the place. The music was scattered too, it would be on, then it would turn off, then back on...I wish the refills for the pitcher of sodas that came with the party pack were free. I mean, I already paid $75 for the party, I shouldn't have to pay $5 a refill. Be sure you bring cash, as it's a cash only establishment. I visited Bastrop Skating rink for the first time this past weekend to attend my nephew's birthday party. I had seen advertisements about the rink offering fun filled private parties. When I arrived there were multiple parties going on, actually 11 none of which were private. For the number of parties,along with people just visiting the rink, the establishment played no party music, no skating games, they did not even announce birthdays. when the 2 hour window per party was,over they were rushing parties out to get ready for the next one. The employees were complaining to one another about the number of people and messes. Next skating party I will make sure our family goes to Cedar Park Skating rink where they make skating fun.What a,disappointment read more

I've been skating there many times over the last 15 years. My parents took me as a kid and now I take my child. I sincerely love the staff especially Miss Patsy. It's like going to grandma's house but with skating . She personally keeps an eye on everything especially the kids and there's not much you could need for a birthday party or just a good time at the rink that she doesn't have on hand for a reasonable price. It's hasn't changed much over the years and frankly I find that to be most if it's charm. Seems like most people on yelp only complain.. I'd like to compliment them for the endless supply of personal care she puts into her business. It's one of the few places I'd feel safe dropping my kid off to play,although I often stay to play and skate. read more

Great place to skate! We attended today for a birthday party and it was full of people. The entry to the skate rink is easy, they have handy guides for the kiddos to use and it had some music.
