What an amazing experience for the 4 of us! We celebrated my sister's birthday tonight and Daniele was THE BEST!!! He was attentive, friendly, and very efficient! The food was so delicious! We enjoyed caprese pizza, Arugala salad, steelhead trout, and mezzaluna pasta!!! The complimentary bread was also a great introduction! The ambiance in the restaurant is very chic! Music was terrific as well! We will definitely come back!! Thanks to Daniele!!!!!! He's the best!!! read more

Great service, great selection of meals served with grace and a smile. Clean, courteous. Just wish the parking was a little closer . I had the ham sandwich and was surprised that the roll was fresh and crunchy and that the veggie selection was crisp and tasty. Nice dressing . Easy and happy take away container. Classy. read more

Basta never disappoints. Our server DANIEL was amazing.... great recommendations great service and always great food.. the fact we can bring our dog makes it so much easier. The salads and Pasta are my favs.... Such a combination.! read more

I have to say I'm a little disappointed by this place. Although the service is really good, especially with the bartenders, the pizza is soggy and the steak is certainly not worth the price because it's not very good, honestly. Last time I was there, it was served cold. For something that is close to $100, it seems pretty sad that they would even bring this to my table. read more

I met up with some friends for dinner. They were pretty busy but since it was only 3 of us they sat us down right away. The space is semi compact so once sitting down I felt a bit confined to the space and felt a little tight. Our waiter was nice and attentive but def not like the other waiter who I noticed was more engaging and seemed to enjoy his interactions with his customers. The menu is a good size and they have nice choices to pick from. We got the bruschetta with sausage as an appetizer, it was delish. I ended up with a simple vodka sauce pasta that was Ok. The pasta was def fresh and had good taste with good portions. The drinks were really good and they have a really nice bar. It's a little pricey but overall the food was good. read more

Gorgeous restaurant with great food. I've been to their Agoura location before and this one feels more open which is nice for the general ambiance. Everyone was very friendly and helpful with picking out dishes. read more

My new favorite restaurant in TO!!! I was stoked to hear this location opened after always hearing how hard it was to get into the Agoura location. We easily parked on the street right across from the restaurant, although they do have valet available for $8. I am an absolute pasta snob as Italian is my favorite, and the CAVATELLI ALLA NORCINA (Cavatelli, Black truffle sauce, Basta grilled sausage, pecorino) was one of the BEST pasta dishes I have had in so long, and even in general! As someone who used to dislike truffle until a few years ago, the flavor was absolutely perfect - not too overbearing, but strong enough to know it was a main component of the dish. The pecorino was deliciously nutty, and the sauce was so perfectly creamy! The sausage was delicious as well! We also got the BASTA RUSTIC GEM SALAD which was light, refreshing, and had a great dressing. This was the perfect contrast to a hearty and creamy pasta dish. My grandpa opted for the special of the night - the Ossobuco with pappardelle and we loved that was well! All of the pasta tastes like it's homemade, and the portions are very fair for the price. Ivan was a great waiter - he had my favorite quality of being friendly, personable, and of course professional! The other man who helped clear our plates and refill our waters also had my other favorite quality - we never once had to flag him down for a water refill, he was on it! On a few hot August day, this was very appreciated haha. Oh and a complementary bread basket is serviced to start, with oil and vinegar bottles at your table! A woman greeted us on the way out asking how everything was (maybe a manager or owner) and seemed genuinely happy that we enjoyed ourselves so much. I cannot wait to come back!!! read more

This is a cute quaint restaurant and was very clean. Had a business lunch here and it wasn't too crowded. Our server was phenomenal and gave really good suggestions. I ended up getting the Pescatore bowl and it was absolutely delicious. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and not overcooked. And the broccolini also was fresh and cooked just right. I also had the watermelon mojito which was absolutely delicious. It was very refreshing and the alcohol was not overpowering. Perfectly mixed and made. So sad I'm only here on business but when I come back I will definitely be coming back. Sorry I didn't get a picture of my food I just started digging in and by the time I remembered it was half gone. read more

Been to Basta several times, and it's been great each time. This time, I got some of the same food items I've had before, and some I tried for the first time. Repeats are pizza and cauliflower. The pizza always hits the spot. Maybe a tad too thin, but the taste is amazing. The mushroom one is my go to. Cauliflower-I feel like the roastedness wasn't quite as good. As for new items, I tried the short ribs, squash, trout, and sticky toffee pudding. The short ribs wasn't so tender and flavor was alright. The squash was also decent. Good to try but wouldn't get again. The sticky toffee pudding was AMAZING tho. I love desserts, and this one hit all the marks for me. Not so sweet pudding balanced out with the toffee and ice cream. I'd come back just for it. Outside is usually where I sit, but there was some construction at that time so sat inside which is pretty cozy. Service is pretty good. Servers came by to check on food and refill water. read more

Amazing quality food and excellent service! Daniel is the best--friendly, attentive, and always makes us feel welcome. Highly recommend!

I come here for apps and drinks with my girls frequently and we just love love love Basta! The patio is cozy with the fireplace and foliage (even though it is right on TO Blvd.), service is always stellar and food is 10/10. Love their seasonal drinks, their wine list and I dream about their pasta dishes. Overall such a good spot for TO, only negative is it does get packed but if you know that and plan accordingly you'll be fine! read more

One of my favorite places to go the food is always excellent. The service is always fabulous and the ambience is warm and friendly. Pastas are homemade and you can definitely taste the difference. I would highly recommend this or the original location in Agoura. read more

My best friend wanted to celebrate her birthday here and it was my first time eating at this location so we came in on a Thursday night. I have to say that I like this location better than Agoura because the staff is more welcoming, better ambiance and the food just tasted better. We got an expresso martini, la dolce vita passion fruit, and limoncello which tasted great. The short ribs, tagliatelle, and cavatelli was delicious. The dessert special for the night was passion fruit panna cotta and ferro roche cake that was fun to try. I was surprised they charged me $3 for bread. The bread wasn't anything special and a few pieces that were hard so I wouldn't recommend this item. Everything cost $155 before tax and tip. I love that this location is near and parking wasn't a problem. You can valet or park on the street and walk over to get your steps in. I'm happy my friend had a great meal and enjoyed her time celebrating at her spot. read more

Valet parking was a plus. The ambience was cozy and service was cheerful and helpful. The octopus salad had tasty components but was missing a salty element. Our server happily brought me a medley of olives. The meatballs were tender and I liked the addition of creamy ricotta. The tiramisu was delightful and not too sweet. read more

Yet another 5 review. This time, lunch with a friend, someone had recommended to try the red trout and WOW- that's a special dish. No frills, but that's exactly what I wanted. Just a grilled, beautiful red trout with a side of olive oil, caper and pearl onion so delicious. So flaky! Service is always excellent when it's Nico. He manages a well run and happily authentic Italian piccolo restaurante! read more

Basta Thousand Oaks, has been a go-to for many reasons and it starts with the Service. I have been in many times for lunch and dinner and both Daniele and Josh are fantastic. They make you feel like it's a small neighborhood restaurant with the modern Italian feel, knowing your name, usual orders etc. Then there is the food, top quality and very delicious. At this point I have probably had close to the entire menu and I can't say that I have had one thing that has been bad. My personal go-to for lunch is the Power bowl and for dinner is the Cauliflower to start and the Pappardelle with Meatballs for my main course. Everyone I have been here with also loves it! read more

The service was amazing, the food was delicious! We got the Brussels sprout salad, arancini, calzone and the trout and it was all so delicious!. Was expecting it to be a bit more pricy but was shocked at the bill. The place is quiet and nice and we will definitely be back again read more

Basta in Agoura Hills turned out to be the perfect spot to celebrate both a birthday and our wedding anniversary. The place has that rare combination of energy and warmth where you instantly feel like you picked the right restaurant for a special night. Our server, Lianna, absolutely made the experience. She knew the new summer menu inside and out and somehow managed to make every recommendation sound irresistible without ever feeling pushy. The Gem Salad with diced asparagus was fresh and delicious, but after watching the watermelon salad float past our table all night, we officially admitted she was right and we should've listened. The pappardelle & meatballs were pure comfort food -- and the pesto pasta was equally memorable. Great food, great service, and one of those dinners where you leave already talking about what you'll order next time. read more

We celebrated my dad's birthday here and had Daniele as our server. He was the best and the food was amazing! Thank you!

I'm far from impressed. They do not have any type of juice but pineapple juice on the menu and I ordered a power bowl with chicken cauliflower and broccoli and the chicken was undercooked and my friend ordered the judo bowl and the chicken was also undercooked and pink. There was gristle on the chicken too. We asked them to heat it up. They went back and they heated it up and it was still not cooked up to par. The coffee was OK they wouldn't give me one glass of sparkling water. I had to buy a bottle and our meal was about $160 and all we did is order two bowls, a bottle of sparkling water two coffees and a tiramisu for dessert. Unless you order pasta, this is just not a full-fledged dining experience that I would ever drop any more money on. read more

We always come here and the food is consistently great. Mila has been our host many times and she's always been amazing! Thanks Mila!

The atmosphere was casual fine dining. We went for our anniversary in normal clothes and didn't feel out of place. Very welcoming. The aged ribeye was the best steak I've had outside of my house (maybe ever). The Basta Vodka pizza was far an above any other pizza we've had in the area. Don't get me started on the Mac and cheese (unreal). What surprised us the most; however, was the butterscotch pudding. The flavor reached depths we didn't know were possible with a pudding. A real eye opener. Josh, our server was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and made us feel like friends immediately. I highly recommend experiencing Basta. We will be back. read more

After having an exceptional experience at the Agoura location, I was very excited to hear that Basta was opening another location in Thousand Oaks. In my opinion, this is easily one of the absolute best Italian restaurants in Conejo Valley, which has quite a lot of competition in that particular cuisine. To eat, we ordered the Pappardelle, Tagliatelle, Caprese Pizza, Pizza Vodka Sauce, and a Brian Bowen Smith. The price point is pretty reasonable for the elevated quality. Each dish was delicious. If looking for top notch Italian food in the Thousand Oaks area, look no further. This place will not disappoint! read more

We walked in to celebrate a huge event in our lives that just happened (and told the host) and the server said OK so what would you like to drink? Which, I don't expect them to say anything or do anything for us, but the lack of customer service was pretty shitty. We only came to the restaurant for a celebration dinner. You can tell it's just another table to them. Even when we had a question about a menu item, he seemed so bothered. Don't ask to make a drink that's not on the menu or you will get attitude. Besides that!!! the food is outstanding. We will definitely come back for the food , but maybe just order To Go due to the rudeness. The best carrot cake I've ever had. Most people are telling us not to go to Thousand Oaks and to go to Agoura instead . read more

This is our favorite restaurant in Ventura county! Definitely one of the top places to eat, and better than many "main stream" steak houses. All of the pasta is phenomenal- you can't go wrong with anything on this menu. All of their cocktails are delicious as well. Some must orders: the steak florentine, rustic gem salad, Paccheri Piccanti Al la Vodka (spicy vodka cream sauce), the side of roasted potatoes, the Tiramisu for dessert, and also the butterscotch pudding. These are all some of the best dishes/steak we've EVER had. The service is great, but they don't take reservations so plan on getting there around 40 minutes+ before you want to eat to wait for a table. The ambiance is beautiful. It's not cheap but completely worth and actually more reasonably priced than many main stream ritzy chain restaurants and steak houses. Come dine at Basta instead! We are thrilled to try their new Thousand Oaks location. read more

This was my first time at Basta. The food was excellent from start to finish -- everything came out fresh and well-prepared, and it's clear a lot of care goes into the menu. The ambience matched the food perfectly: warm, inviting, and just the right vibe for a great meal out. Huge shoutout to our server Robert, who made the whole experience even better. He was attentive, friendly, and really added to the evening with great recommendations for our family. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend! read more

Great food. Great service. The pasta dishes here are awesome. The parking is not great; street parking is all you get.

Going to do this Review a little Different then I normally do. Personally, when I dine out there are certain things that I look for! How well does the Employees work together as one to accommodate their customers. Service is key to all Success. The Cleanliness of the Establishment and most of all the food. So, as I entered into the Restaurant I was greeted right away and seated, there was no waiting, I was lucky. Immediately a employee came over with a Basket of Sourdough Bread and on the table was already the oil and Vinegar, An Italian Tradition. Great Start. I enclosed pictures of the different kinds of Dishes that I had the enjoyment of eating and I was in Heaven. My Favorite was the Pasta with Shrimp and Fresh Clams, such a Delicious Meal. I personally recommend this. This location has been open for an about a year now. I want to Thank the Manager for coming over to my table and asking me How my meal Was, this is a Bonus. Thanks Nicko. See you soon To the back of the house Great job in your presentation on your Dishes and most of the Taste. read more

People always ask me if I know any good Italian spots and..... I finally found one! First, the ambiance of Basta, inside and out is amazing. Such a perfect date night vibe or a good place to meet friends for dinner. Our server was so welcoming and friendly as he shared his recommendations on food and drinks..and he did not steer us wrong. We had the Summer in Sicily and Fresh Berry Whiskey Sour for drinks (10/10) and for our entrees we ordered the Tagliatelle Ragu and Cappelletti Romagnoli. If you get anything at all, you need to try the Cappelletti Romagnoli. It was the best dish I have had in a restaurant in such a long time. The flavor...just dance in your mouth.
