Not impressed. 3 stars because I visit the fishing section only. The rest of the store might be great I have no idea. Bass Pro brand offers far more items than this store is carrying which is abysmal in the fishing section. Knowing the online site is god awful, I will be taking my money elsewhere. I went in here to buy a rifle bag. I looked online and it read they give military, law enforcement, and firefighter discounts. When I asked for my law enforcement discount they told me it was "military only" I showed them the discount statement which is on their website and they said "I don't know why it says that, it's military only". I asked if we could sign up for a points account and they began to sign me up for a credit card instead without telling me what they were doing. I saw a credit card photo on the screen and asked them if it was for a credit card and they said yes. I told them I did not want a credit card, I wanted a card for points the manager literally said "no this is a credit card" I told him never mind and I left. This place is ridiculous. The employees don't know anything at this store, the manager was no older than 18. I will not come back to this bass pro shop. False advertisement. read more

Buy your firearms elsewhere. Wasted an entire day driving from Ocala up to Gainesville to help my mother who just moved here from Ohio pick out a new shotgun for home defense. After waiting in the queue line for well over an hour, we finally got some assistance from one of the people working the firearms area. We selected her shotgun, went to check out; and the manager comes out from the back and says "we believe you are buying this firearm for someone else." (Referring to me, her son). Which she absolutely was not, I was there in helping her make her selection. (I can buy my own firearms) So after hours of wasted time, we went home empty handed. We also had a cart full of other things that we were going to buy, and we were so furious that we ended up leaving it in the front and walked out. Not only did they lose a sale, they lost a customer for life. You guys really need to hone in on your personal assessment skills. read more

Shame on this store for their mistreatment of the fish. Usually bass pro shops has a huge indoor pond that's just like a natural pond. This store has a tiny fish tank on the wall that's no more than a few hundred gallons that barely gives the fish enough room to turn around, has way to many fish packed in, and stresses them out by not giving them anywhere to hide from kids banging on the glass. Also much smaller store than other locations so much smaller selection. read more

When my 6 month old bow broke I brought it back to the store hoping for help. What I got was brushed off-not their problem. Was told to call the factory. The factory-Bowtech- was helpful. They sent me to Alachua Farm and Lumber in Alachua, Fl. Staff there was helpful and will do the repair under factory warranty. Anyone looking to purchase a bow should skip Bass Pro and go to Alachua Farm and Lumber-a great shop with many bow options and a helpful staff. read more

Maybe it's me, I just decided most of the sales personnel on the floor, (except most of the women) have trouble answering a simple question. This was my first visit to there shop in Orlando, but I've been to the shops in Los Vegas and many time to the shop in Islamarda. It took this last visit today to realize most of there male associates,belong in there cave somewhere they don't have to talk to anyone. They remind me of politicians who think you are asking a gotcha question so they start ducking and weaving. The BAss Pro Shops have great products with great prices but there is definitely something wrong with most of the male associates, and it most come from Corporate, or they wouldn't all be like this, or maybe they are unhappy with there job, maybe there underemployed. So disappointed in my customer service experience at the new Gainesville Bass Pro Shop. I was looking to purchase a pair of hiking boots so I went to the store to try some on. I found a great pair and saw they online they were $69 compared to the $109 they were listed for in the store. I asked a customer service associate if they would be able to price match to the website and was told no because it was listed as an "online only" offer. I then went to purchase the boots online and saw that they were out of stock in my size and it also showed that the Gainesville store was out of stock even though I held them in my hands moments before. I then called online customer service to see if they could assist in facilitating a price match since they were available in the store and not online. That associate informed me that the boots in the size I needed (12 men's) were out of stock and that another shipment was not expected for 4+ months, and that the in-store price matching policy was decided by the stores so I should talk to the General Manager in regards to my issue. I returned to the store to explain the situation and was told that the Regional Manager, Michael Clifton, would not budge on price matching online sales and had denied other people in similar situations. Had the boots been available online, I would have had no problem buying them in the proper fashion, although it was extremely disappointing that the store was not accommodating in trying to provide me with the product even after knowing that they would not be available to me for a number of months. read more
