Here are a few of the dishes I've had here: - Pad Thai -- large portion, noodles cooked well, and very flavorful.. my only complaint is it was not served with bean sprouts and cilantro. - Beef Pho - I've eaten this dish in over 100 restaurants around the country, and know what to expect in a good bowl... tasty broth, tender beef, and fresh condiments... This pho holds its own, especially for being a small restaurant on the coast. - Spring rolls -- pretty good, chewy and delicious. Service was just okay but their food was terrible, couldnt even finish half of dishes. Bun Bo Hue doesn't taste right, they put Pho noodle with meatball and brisket all together. They served me raw food and refused to give me a refund. Then they were rude and told me that they would go broke if they refunded every customer with a complaint about the food. Don't waste your time. I have given this place the benefit of the doubt several times and this was the last straw. The free market will work and this place will fail. I love Basils!! My family lives in the bay and we absolutely love Pho but didn't like having to drive into Slidell or Metairie for it. We came upon Basil's out of the blue and were so pleasantly surprised. We ordered the shrimp and pork spring rolls, chicken satay, chicken pho, vegetable pho, and the yellow curry. Both the Vietnamese and Thai dishes are great. The service was slightly questionable during our last visit but they were busy and the servers were easy to flag down and were very helpful. I was actually surprised by the quality and flavor of the food. Who would expect to find a Thai restaurant hidden in a little country bad road in Mississippi that had a chef that knew Thai cooking!? My daughter had their version of the beef drunken noddles, while it wasn't nearly as spicy as she likes, she said it had a bit of kick and good flavor. I had tofu pad Thai. Imagine my excitement to find out that Long Beach got it's first Thai/Viet restaurant!? I had heard great things from my friend and my folks about this place. I went in for takeout one day and opted for chicken pad thai and chicken satay. It was average in regards to price. I think $18 or so. I got home and the satay was delicious. It featured a dusting/marinade of yellow curry and was grilled to perfection. The pad thai was about what you'd expect. It was a bit more sauced than I prefer but the flavor was on point. It even had a mild heat on the back end of the palate that was appreciated. The only things I found odd was the inclusion of cabbage with the pad thai and the lack of tofu, which is normal most places I've had it. Did it ruin my meal? Not one bit. Sure it may not have hit every mark on my personal preference but this was a very welcome meal while visiting the area. read more

While the food is good, beware of your credit or debit card charges. They charged me double, with one charge being 5.00 exactly more than the other, and tried to say that they refunded my charge, but did not in fact do so. The fact that their waitresses stated that they have encountered this particular issue multiple times leads me to believe that this is a scam that they have led multiple times. If you call them on this, they will hang up the phone and will refuse to answer any attempts to resolve the issue in the future. They will force you to call your card company in order to resolve this issue. read more

We have been several times. Food has always been good, service is hit or miss. Our last time going I had the Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. Dish came out plated nice. Shrimp were under cooked. Told the server that I'd like a new order with cooked shrimp as I had stirred the dish up and found several undercooked shrimp. Dish was taken back into the kitchen and after about 10 minutes a plate was brought back to me. This second plate looked like a pile of noodles. It wasn't plated nice and looked like slop. I moved the noodles around and realized that this was the same plate of food I had sent back. They took my undercooked food, recooked the entire plate of food and tried to serve that back to me. Pretty sure that's a health code violation, even if it isn't that's not how you remedy an undercooked seafood pasta dish. Shocked that they thought this was appropriate. Makes me wonder what else happens behind closed doors in the kitchen. read more
