This was our first visit here and it did not disappoint! You pick up a menu and place your order and choose your seat and your food is delivered to your table. The price point for the amount of food you receive is absolutely insane. I can't think of another restaurant where you are full for $13. I now know why they filled up by 5:30 young people and people of my age to go. I saw Doctors, Lawyers and everyday people my age. I REALLY wanted to like this place based on other reviews and we finally remembered to grab dinner the other night. The shrimp rolls were okay, with a tail sticking out LOL. Tried the pork wontons, a little meh. Ordered the steak pho and am currently doctoring up - beef was flavorless and honestly was the whole dish. Also ordered the coconut curry chicken - had to doctor up for flavor as well. I'm sure we will give it one more go, but this round was not a favorite. I've never seen my husband do this... that is all... but really we couldn't bring ourselves to make the hour drive to Pensacola to our favorite pho restaurant and we remembered at the last minute about Vietnamese Cuisine, so off we went when we got there we were greeted by the friendly waitress (I hate that I didn't catch her name) the restaurant was clean and I loved these super cute lights! We ordered what we would normally order at a pho place, I got the EXTRA LARGE bowl (cuz I love leftovers) and he got the normal size the BROTH WAS AMAZING and our meats were flavorful. Looking for a good Vietnamese stop in Fairhope we pick this one due to the strong Yelp reviews and ratings. As many know who use Yelp, high reviews can be a coin flip on reality depending on diner personal preferences. First of all know this, Google Mapping is less than clear, this spot is around the corner of the shopping center, located on the side so heads up. We were a little taken back when entering the site, expecting a much larger place, this one only holds about 25 folks when fully filled. The small nature extends to the waitress (only 1) who is the greeter, waitress, checkout and takeaway queen for the day - mutitasker. We got in before the noon hour and ordered from the counter - then grabbed a booth. We opted for our usual favs, shimp rolls, Pho & lemongrass chicken. A little surprised with the menu, limited offerings. The lemon grass chicken came on rice which was new to us, typically our experience has been with pho noodles and a light fish sauce side. Never the less we drove forward, ordered and waited, not long before the food started landing - Shrimp rolls first and the mains followed. Here are the highlights of the landings: Shimp rolls - fair, very average with a fairly bland peanut sauce - we've had better for sure. Heavy on the lettace, light on cucumber & carrot. Pho - a good bowl, clearly a site specialty came steaming hot with the usual condiments (MIA cilanto sadly), the broth was a little fatty but OK. Lemongrass chicken - a bust, a heavy yellow sauce on the chicken which seemed a bit odd, was average or less.. not a repeat for sure. I made a special detour to try this place out... Well in New Orleans this would be a 2 star joint as their pho really just doesn't compare to the awesome pho and other Vietnamese options we have in NOLA. They also served the pho with the tinest little assortment of vegetables to add to your soup. I was also sad they had no jasmine iced tea like most of the NOLA Vietnamese restaurants offer. So all that said since this is Fairhope, AL and not NOLA it isn't a fair comparison so I was leaning towards giving them a three star review as that is about what kind of joint it is within the context of Fairhope. The big deciding factor to me is this joint is pay and tip when you order, which sadly resulted in poor service... as it often tends to. So I never got a single iced tea refill despite having tipped when I paid... From now on I guess I have to be a jerk at places like this and refuse to tip until I finish eating or maybe just walk away places that do this practice. The best Pho I've had and I've had Pho in many different states including Philly and Jersey. Also, the amount of people coming in for Pho takeout was enormous. Even though there's a small staff the service was perfectly timed and the food was hot. It's a nice quant spot and if they did expand would probably be packed all the time! Was feeling blue so I was in the mood for some Pho. Just found out about this lovely place and the reviews were on point. First off service was nice and friendly Southern Hospitality for sure. Took the little drive from Mobile to Fairhope and didn't realize how nice the city is. But on the most important note The pho was delicious so rich and so clean I wanted seconds even when I ordered me the large portion. The fried rolls were delicious. Surprising gem in southern Alabama! Beef pho was on point, and bahn mi was pretty spot on as well. You could tell they flash cooked the thinly slice beef outside of the broth before placing it in. Delicious golden broth. Beef was tender and thinly sliced. Next closest pho that is decent is Dong Phuong in eastern NOLA. Only recommendation is to add a little more meat in the bahn mi and fish sauce with the egg rolls. Kudos for having real sriracha to include to-go packets! I'll be back! read more

First time visit. I got a to go order sampler to bring home to the wife. We tried steak and brisket pho, shrimp and grilled chicken spring rolls, and a bánh mì pork sandwich. First, the pho. Here the broth is the real test. If the broth is off, forget the rest. The broth was good. We liked how the noodles and meat were packaged together in a decorative way. Bean sprouts were fresh. All was excellent. The spring rolls were a great value at $5 for two with peanut sauce. We sampled shrimp and grilled chicken versions. The grilled chicken had a great flavor! Only slight was the peanut sauce could have been a little spicier. That was remedied with a little shot of our own Sriracha. Last, the bánh mì pork sandwich. The key here is the bread. If the bread is poor, the rest doesn't matter. The French bread used was perfect. True to form. The pork was marinated and tasted excellent. I want to start off by saying, I usually will reserve a 5 star for the exceptional experience be it street food or fine dining. Here's the thing, if you see my limited reviews on southern cuisine, it's not exactly glowing. I boldly even say to locals, "Y'alls food culture is garbage. It's either fried chicken or fried seafood. Heavily salted to boot." Now, let's talk about the exceptionally limited local Vietnamese options, namely Pho. They're in Mobile and I won't even mention them by name. They're just not good. The essence of every bowl of Pho (pronounced "Fuh" for the uninitiated) is the broth and somehow people are ok with paying for hot water made with Pho powder, filled with mushy rice noodles. You see, I came from California. It is literally home to the closest thing you'll get to an actual Vietnamese dishes as if it were made there itself. Pho at the even modestly ok places are still aromatic, richly fatty, and with a layered depth of meticulous refining of the broth. Well, I've finally found that here. Look, this will be tough for some people to follow as so many down here have zero clue as to what I'm talking about. But, I would say, trust me. As soon as that bowl hits, take a sip of that broth. Don't add anything to it, just get that first spoonful and really savor the layers of flavor crafted in there. You will clearly taste the absolute depth of the beefy, exotic spice blend richness in it. I'm used to the multitude of menu options of the California Vietnamese food scene. But, the owner here has an incredible story of how she went from Vietnam, to Florida and ultimately Alabama. She doesn't want to do a bunch of things ok, she wants to do the few things that are offered, exceptionally well and I for one agree with that culinary philosophy. More importantly, I endorse that her Pho is prepared exceptionally well. Regardless of the early reviews, try the pho. It's still heart warming to your soul, even on those crazy summer southern days. read more

Finally, a casual asian restaurant in Fairhope that's actually good! Outside of Fairhope, I'd give it 4 stars, but given it's such a struggle to find anything that isn't American or Mexican around here, it's an easy 5. Food is solid! The bahn mi was really good, I could eat it ever day, bread was soft, veg was fresh, pork was tender. I think the pork could have been a little more heavily seasoned based on other bahn mi I've had, but it was still definitely flavorful. Pork over vermicelli was about the same (which makes sense, it's basically the same dish but with noodles instead of bread). When I visited they seemed to still be working out some logistical kinks, seemed to be some confusion at the register, but it all worked out so I can't complain. The interior is casual but clean and cute, which I wasn't necessarily expecting for something tucked away at the back of a strip mall. All in all, really solid place that Fairhope desperately needs. read more

OK Pho...lots of beef, good broth, a little bit on the salty side. I ran out of noodles...and I NEVER run out of noodles; no bone marrow, meatballs too garlicky ("bitter" garlicky.,,powder? Old garlic?); Nouc cham almost pure fish sauce...no sugar or lime detectable Peanut sauce has the same garlic issue. Vermicelli dishes are limited Spring rolls were good, but could have used more herbs and pickled carrot or radish. Fried egg roll was interesting---carrots had a "sweet potato"!taste? Plate of herbs, lime wedges,sprouts was just pitiful. Prices are too high for this fare at this quality/quantity level. ...and they ding you for using a credit card! Service is lopsided...you have to go get a menu, seat yourself, then go place your order AND PAY! ...AND TIP! THEN They bring out the drinks, setups, and food as it becomes ready. For their price points we need to see more and better service If you really want to get your Pho on, go to Vung Tau in Biloxi.
