This is a great hidden gem. We have visited this establishment many times during the last several months and it never disappoints!!! We usually get the spring rolls as an appetizer as well as the egg rolls. The egg rolls are a bit small and tend to be a little too crispy for my liking. My kids love them though. The spring rolls, however, are huge! One roll is big enough to feed 2 people. I'm not a big fan of the peanut dipping sauce it comes with, I prefer just eating it without the sauce. For the entree I usually get the Red Curry Chicken, it is amazing and has the perfect amount of heat. This last visit I actually stepped out of my normal zone of meals and ordered the Basil Stir Fry. Oh my, wish I had ordered this sooner!! The stir fry is not what you typically thinking as stir Fry. It was more of a soup, with lots of vegetables and chicken. You add white rice, as little or as much of the container they send out with the meal. My husband and kids usually get the Pad Tai, either with chicken or pork. My husband usually requests a level 3 heat and our kids get a level 1 heat. The portions are all big enough for two meals. There is always plenty to take home and eat it for lunch the next day. These days, it seems like the American market for Thai restaurants is over saturated. Whether you're in New York City or a Main Street in Wyoming, there will always be a McDonald's, a Starbucks, and some sort of Thai restaurant. Understandable, though, considering Thai is a delicious cuisine, and more importantly, it is extremely difficult to make badly. That's why, when there is a Thai restaurant that somehow isn't good, it's automatically a massive disappointment. Basil, fortunately, doesn't bare that fate. This restaurant deep in the small beach town of Long Beach, MS, is great for a couple reasons. For one, the food was superb. I ordered the Pad Thai Beef, a standard I tend to order to compare my Thai restaurants, and I found this dish extremely satisfying. The portions were large (which I prefer) and the noodles had just the right amount of sauce on them that made me take down every bit with no hesitation. The service was also excellent, with the waiter being kind and the food coming out extremely quickly. My only main issue with the restaurant was the interior ambience. It was very bright and it simply seemed to me they took a Thai restaurant and placed it inside what used to a Fro-Yo shop. If the interior design seemed a bit more authentic and welcoming, this would be a five-star establishment, for everything else was stellar. The bean sprouts were not fresh and looked discolored from being wet for an extended period of time. I asked for fresh sprouts only to get more of the same. Wow! This place is seriously good! I don't hand out 5 star reviews easily but this place definitely deserves it. I've had my fair share of both Thai and Vietnamese food and can say that Basil's is serving up fresh and authentic faire. My husband and I came in for lunch at noon on a Tuesday and it was about half full inside. I ordered the Vermicelli Bowl with Grilled Chicken and my husband got the Pad Thai with Beef. Both were amazing and not too heavy. I've had a lot of Pad Thai that is overly sweet and rich and tastes like noodles tossed in a Skippy jar of peanut butter, but this was well balanced and delicious! My bowl was simple, light, and tasty - exactly what I was in the mood for. But I couldn't help stealing bites of the Pad Thai. It's so dang good! Our waitress was amazing. Very kind and professional. And the prices are incredibly reasonable. The inside was clean and well kept and service was quick. I will definitely be back. I've found a new favorite local spot! read more

Why can't I give 0 or negative stars? Don't order Pho from here unless you want to take your food home and cook it yourself. My daughter called and made an order to go. 1 chicken Pho and 2 steak Pho. When she got it home the chicken was cooked but both orders of steak where not. I called the restaurant. The woman on the phone told me that the meat is sent out rare with togo orders. The meat was not rare. It was cold and not cooked at all. So rare that it's was still bleeding? On the noodles, lime, sprouts and all the other ingredients. We also ordered fried eggs to go with the Pho. We got boiled. She did offer to make fried eggs for us to come pick up or to refund them. But what's the point? If you have to cook the rest of your meal, might as well fry an egg. Never again! read more

I tried this place for the first time today, i am a private personal driver and heard from a few locals that this restaurant was top notch. I ordered a tom yum shrimp and a spring roll appetizer. Apparently they like their regulars not visitors. The staff was ignoring Antoine not at a table. The Tom yum shrimp did in fact have no shrimp. For 22 dollars with no shrimp.
