Sadly no longer great customer service. I had been here in the past and did not realize it was under new ownership. My car was hit while parked on the street I called in and spoke with Sean and asked if I needed an appointment for an estimate, he said I did not, so I brought it there in person right after we hung up. The employee I dealt with in person was polite, took photos, took my VIN, my cell, and let me know they would have a quote within an hour and never called back. I called them at the end of the day for a quick update and got Sean again, not sure he is the owner or manager, and he said "as I told you before, we do not give you a quote until you give us $100". I would have been fine with this if they explained it to me either when I spoke to him on the phone, or had the employee explained when I was there. Sean could have also called me to explain this when he let me know they had the quote ready? His attitude really turned me off I did not appreciate being spoken to like that. Unfortunately, since Basil - who was the heart of this auto Repair business - retired , the quality , customer service, and accountability here declined dramatically. In the past , Basil was prompt, reliable, and provided excellent car repairs at a reasonable cost . However , now under new ownership : they repeatedly charged us for repairs not provided , dishonestly recommended car repairs that were not necessary , and did all this with an unpleasant attitude. After I posted my original review, see below, on 11/27 the owner of Basil's has threatened me with legal action. Luckily I have lots of documentation for a counter suit. BUYER BEWARE!!! ============ RUN AWAY!!! It used to be run by a guy named Basil who was a solid citizen. It has since been bought out by an inferior service co. Last time they fixed my car a bunch of things fell off after I got the car and I had to take it back. But that is not the reason that I am posting a 1 star review. When I had my car fixed it had mechanical damage which they shopped out to another place and was not fixed correctly. 6 months after they "Fixed it" I had to get the same work done all over again somewhere else to the tune of $1800. Either that or put my family's life in danger. All the stuff that holds the 2 front tires in place was a hair away from falling apart! I EMAILED THEM. THEY NEVER GOT BACK TO ME. This is what I had to have redone... STEERING & SUSPENSION INNER PART THAT THE INNER TIE ROD END GOES INTO RACK & PINION REMOVE & REPLACE STEERING GEAR (COMPLETE) TIE ROD END LH TIE ROD END RH BUSHING TORN LOWER CONTROL ARM REMOVE & REPLACE F CONTROL ARM - LOWER, BOTH STEERING & SUSPENSION 2 01 535-621 LOWER BALL JOINT My car still has issues/repairs that have to be redone, so at this point I am trading it in. At the suggestion of some guy working at a sketchy detailing shop around the corner from where I live, I went to Basil because I needed a dent fixed via the magic of "paintless dent removal." I walked the few blocks to his shop on the northeast corner of 17th/Washington and got an estimate of $90 which I thought was fair. Basil was friendly and low-pressure. When I picked up my car, the dent was definitely less noticeable but not completely smoothed out. Basil admitted that it wasn't a perfect job, largely because there was some obstruction in the rear quarter panel that prevented him from making it look like new. It was good enough for me as I was just trying to reduce how obvious it was given that I'm preparing to sell my car. He charged me $75 and I went on my way. read more

When our family took our car there , the "artist formerly known as Basil's " pretended to fix the problem . They charged us for the fix . The car was not fixed . This is not right . Sadly another accident. Another $1800+ out of pocket. But Andrew and Shawn are there to the rescue. This time parts problem caused a one week wait. I don't use my car everyday but they offered a loaner. I don't mind the wait because they guys are honest, communicate clearly and exceed expectations. They previously recommended auto service (Ron's Auto) who proved excellent. I have forty years experience with costly auto body work. I had driven my Acura RDX through ice/snow to northern PA, slid and crashed the car into an ice mound, with resultant fender damage and a loosened wheel guard. Sent a pic by text, got a probable estimate, took the car in and, while I was at it, got some other miscellaneous damage from "driving a car in Center City" . Repair job was meticulous.. while a fender needed to be fully replaced, other body parts that could be salvaged were... Unexpectedly, they did some paint touchup work, with the result that the car looks better than it did coming off the dealership floor a few years ago.. and the cleaning was better than I've gotten from some detailing shops! I absolutely love this shop - I couldn't have asked for better service. By the time the guys were done with my scrappy Grand Vitara it looked better than on the day I bought it. They completely replaced my whole front end and replaced my radiator (thanks to a Philly winter storm hit and run). The best part - they gave me a surprise interior/exterior detailing at no extra charge. They were fast, professional, and an absolute pleasure to work with. I got scammed in a parking lot by Lowe's on Columbus Ave. to get a dent and some scratches fixed on my rear quarter panel. $400 later the job still needed to be done. I was so happy when Shawn said he could get it fixed for me in a few days. I dropped it off in the morning and he had it done the next day. It looks perfect. Since our car is a leased car we needed it to be right. We are very happy with the service and we will be back for the bumpers right before we return our car to Toyota. I took my 2015 Infiniti there last Dec 2016...self inflicted wound...big scratch pass door,skirt and rear panel..my dumb,so I paid. I dealt with Ricardo shop manager,and they did an excellent repair and repaint.They were more expensive than the dealers shop,but local,and had good marks on Yelp etc Its a small shop,so your car won't be done in a day,but you will like the results....recommended !!!!!! read more

I was referred to Basil's by my niece recently. I live in Deleware County and have never been in an accident before. I was hesitant about receiving services in the city due to my location. I decided to give them a try as my niece continued to rave about the quality of their work and affordability. Once I entered the shop I immediately felt like family. I was greeted by a highly personable staff who treated me with the utmost dignity and respect. When I bugged them with many phone calls regarding the process, I was always reassured. I was amazed when I went to pick up my car.!!!! The prices were competitive and my car looked better than it did when I purchased it! I've heard of many Autobody shop nightmares but the service at Basil's is a dream come true!!! I salute Jesus aka Chu Chu on his stellar customer service and the mechanics on mastering their trade! Basil's does good work for a fair price which is all you can ask for. I brought in my Mercedes ML320 which had a cracked front bumper after going to 3 other body shops in the area which all quoted about the same price, but were vague on how long it would take. I have nothing but positive things to say about Jesus at Basil's, he came out and gave me a fair estimate and was clear with how long it would take and what they would be using during the repair process.
