Bob was my sales person and after visiting 4-5 dealerships and receiving really bad customer service, it was so nice to experience a real, old fashioned, well rounded sales person. He showed us a few cars and when due to a small technicality we encountered a small issue with financing, not only did he fix it, he got our interest rate cut in half! He followed up and made sure we were taken care of. When a small issue came up with one of the keys to the Lexus, he was very responsive and although we have not resolved it yet, there's not a doubt in my mind that he will make it right. There was a small mix up in price during our shopping experience that nearly brought me to tears! (The car that I loved turned out to be a lot higher priced than I was told) and after walking away thinking I will have to buy something else, he worked with management and a couple days later was able to lower the price a lot...Now, I understand that this sounds a lot like a tactic and I've bought enough cars to know it; However, it was an honest correction and I'm pretty sure they lost money on the deal because of their commitment to customer service and the original error.... BUYER BEWARE!!! My wife and I traveled from Pittsburgh, PA to Basil Resale Sheridan in Buffalo, NY after confirming availability of a used 2024 Infiniti QX50 Sport listed in their inventory. Local availability for this model--particularly AWD--was extremely limited, so we were willing to make the six‑hour round trip only after very clear assurances. Prior to the trip, I spoke directly with Sales Manager Patrick Schultz and his assistant Jose. I explicitly stated that we were driving from out of state and that we were prepared to purchase the vehicle immediately if it met basic, clearly defined conditions: the car needed to drive straight, show no visible body damage, have no unusual odors, and be in genuinely "great condition." We had already test‑driven this model locally and were not browsing--we were buying. Based on their repeated assurances, photos they sent, and their insistence that the car "drove like new" and had no issues, we proceeded. We added the vehicle to our insurance and brought a cashier's check for the agreed amount, expecting a quick transaction. Upon arrival on February 14, those assurances immediately unraveled. Before even leaving the lot, a red warning light was illuminated on the dashboard. During a short drive, my wife noticed severe visual distortion through the windshield, resembling a fun‑house mirror. Upon switching seats, it became obvious the windshield had been replaced with a low‑quality aftermarket product. The driver‑side door was misaligned and did not close smoothly, and the hood also failed to line up properly. After parking to investigate the warning light, it became clear it was related to the pedestrian impact / pop‑up hood system--indicating the vehicle had been involved in a frontal impact. Despite a "clean" CarFax report, the physical evidence strongly suggested prior collision damage and poor‑quality repairs. This was further supported by numerous HIGHLY visible paint chips, scratches, rim damage, and obvious touch‑up attempts--none of which appeared in the photos provided beforehand. For a vehicle with under 7,000 miles, this condition is unacceptable. More concerning is that these issues were either ignored or intentionally misrepresented by individuals who "do this for a living," despite our very direct questions and the significant travel involved. Offering to fix the issues after the fact does not resolve the underlying problem: this car should never have been presented as accident‑free or in excellent condition. We assume they were hoping we would go through with the sale after making the long drive from Pittsburgh. We declined to proceed and drove home. Integrity and honesty were clearly lacking in this transaction. While reviews suggest this may not be the norm, this experience was significant enough to warrant caution. If you choose to work with Basil Resale Sheridan, I strongly recommend avoiding Sales Manager Patrick Schultz and his assistant Jose. A clean CarFax report does not replace transparency, and neither does a verbal assurance. It is really hard to give this business a rating: the SALES staff are great, they got me into a vehicle with payments that I can afford, and out the door the same day, Their SERVICE DEPARTMENT HOWEVER SUCKS! I purchased the extended service contract with the car, about 2 months later the Right Wheel sensor for the ABS & Traction control went bad, it took 2 weeks for them to get the part, and when I left there the warning lights were still on. I was told by their service advisor that he'd look into it and 2 to 3 months later I was told to take it to North Town Kia to have them look into it. Today I get a call asking if I was satisfied with the service, hell NO, and that the NEW service coordinator would give me a call back in about 10 minutes about the issue after he looked into the it, well it's been a hour & a half, I've got to get ready to go into work, my call back to him went to VM, and he still hasn't called me back!!! Had a simple car inspection for 10am. Didn't get my vehicle back until after 1pm. This place does not honor appointment time.

I bought a 2021 jeep grand Cherokee and I purchased extra protection, a $5000 engine protection and a $2000 tire protection. I come in for a nail in the tire and they tell me they have to keep my truck for a couple days so they can get an approval. Why did I purchase this protection if a simple repair isn't covered? I didn't give you $33,000 not to have a vehicle. Last month I asked them to start a claim on a back tire with a gash. I still haven't heard anything about that claim. Their excuse was the guy that looked at it has been fired and no claim was ever filed. This is the worst experience I have ever had. I can't wait to sell this vehicle and go to a different dealership. They act like you're bothering them and they have no time for you when you try to use your warranty's protection coverage. I'm so sick of being treated poorly after they take all your money. This company is an utter disappointment. I'm a year away from never coming back and it couldn't be soon enough. I received a message from an associate at Basil today. He said that the GM saw my Jeep on Facebook marketplace and that it was priced great. (I know it is because I want much more for it than I'm asking but I am not greedy). He said that they would pay top dollar for it that he might not be able to get exactly 19k but that it would be very close. I drove there, and they offered me 13,500 for my 2017 Fully loaded Jeep Cherokee Latitude with 24k miles on it. Almost a punch in the face. This is not the first time they have done scummy stuff. They sold me a car that had "just finished inspection" that ended up having 4 separate warning lights on it by the time I got 10 minutes away. License plate was also put on in front of the sensor, so my husband had to move it. I made 6 trips to Basil in 9 days and still ended up having to take my care to the dealership to get fixed to get the warning lights off. Terrible customer service. Once you buy the car, good luck trying to have anyone return your call or answer a text. They all say they are looking into it but nothing ever gets fixed. They told me they would get a loaner for me, they didn't. They said they fixed the reason the warning lights were off, they didn't. Now it's been a month and I got a call from my bank saying that my payment on my OLD car is due. Took it in for service and it still doesn't function properly. Called back and was told I would be responsible for repairs. A piece comes off the steering wheel and again nothing they can do. Final straw they called me to set up an appointment for an oil change and inspection. Made the appointment for 9:30am. Two hours later car still isn't done and no update provided. My husband and I ask for an update and told 20 minutes still. I'm frustrated and the associates completely blow it off no big deal. Told me it's the usual time. I've never had an oil change and inspection take 2+ hours. People have come in after us gotten an oil change and other work and are long gone. What's the point of an appointment?? I'm 9 months pregnant. We would've made arrangements to drop the car off if we had known. We are late to other plans because they didn't communicate. Not worth the trouble. I bought my car less than a year ago to be exact it was November 2020. It is now August 2nd, I brought my vehicle into the shop in July of 2021 for an oil change. At that time I expressed there was something wrong with my car when I hit the brakes. Once my oil change was completed I asked if everything was ok on my car they proceeded to say yes and gave me my slip showing what they did on my car that day. Jumping back forward to today, I took my vehicle to Pep boys and they tell me just off the visual inspection that I need front and back break pads/ rotors on top of that I need front calipers this is a $1600 repair. I just bought this car in November of 2020..... I have driven 15k miles on the car so the break pad I guess I would get but not really break pads should at-least 30k miles. I was sold a 2006 PT Cruiser which turned out to have electrical problems. I brought the car back 4 times in 90 days and finally requested my money back. In 2006 the only think a consumer could do was call and call and call until someone would actually listen to them. My father went into Basil Resale on Sheridan to purchase a new to him truck and the employees in there were very rude and immature. They gave him an offer on his truck and he left to go home and think about it. He came back about 2 days and 50 miles later with the truck in the same condition as before because they supposedly had a very good offer for him. He goes in there and hey offer him 2-3k less then the first time and were laughing about it telling him he wouldn't make a deal anywhere else and making fun of him. He works 80 hours a week (2 full time jobs) and had to take off work and waste time going out there just for them to offer about 2-3k less on his trade. I emailed and called to find out that I don't have it yet because I owe the dealership $400. Mins you my temp registration expired a month ago. I owed $400 because I was told I was paying $4000 down. When I get there I'm told it's $4400. So I signed an iou for the $400. Now the drivers door is rusted on the inside of it to the point that it needs to be replaced. After going back and forth with my sales person Sara it was decided that $300 of the iou was being forgiven and I would pay to replace the door on my own. Sara stated to me that she would handle the remaining $100 herself. Also the windshield was leaking. Sara got me set up with the people to fix it no problem. As a result I need to have the car inspected again. Mind you I paid for the first one. So I go get it done. And I'm shocked to find out that I have to pay for it. I didn't make the windshield leak. When I picked it up it had a severely torn wiper blade on it. Which in NYS fails inspection. Yet it had a bright new sticker on it. The financing of the car was a pain too. The finance company wasn't being given the info they asked for "several times" as they put it. At any rate I now have an expired registration and the finance manager , Mary tells me via email that when I pay the $400 she will send my registration to the DMV. I'm not paying it. So if it's not sent and I mean now I'll be bringing the vehicle back. Basil can pay the finance company back and refund my $4000 deposit as my trade in has been sold already. My family has purchased 5 vehicles from Basil. This will be the last one. I'm going to repost this daily as it's been removed already. I have used Basil Resale center to buy my last 6 cars. Unfortunately the customer service in this building is horrendous. You would think going into a dealership and wanted to buy 2 cars and spend 105k would be easy but it was the worst experience I have ever had buying a vehicle. I use this dealership only bc my best friend is a auto salesman and I would never put money in someone else's pockets. For me to purchase both of these vehicles I was at the dealership for 4 days and everyday they gave me a new story on how someone else dropped the ball and now I have to deal with it. These people treat you like a piece of meat and you're only a number to them. They don't care what happened to you or how many vehicles you buy from them. All they want is you to over pay for your vehicle and allow them to stroke you. The worst part of this is the management team. When you ask them a question they all look confused and tell you to talk to another manager. The only guy in their that is worth keeping on the management team is John Lombardi. He treated me like a human and has great people skills! He put me at ease with some of the situations that had Occurred. He also isn't afraid to make a deal! All the other managers couldn't sell you a cup of cold water on a hot summer day. If Mr.Basil is smart he would be looking to replace some of them to keep people coming back. Bought a used 2014 VW Jetta from here around January 16th 2020. Drove it home on the 18th and less than two days later the check engine light was on, car was "kicking," and stalled three times while driving. Brought it back to be serviced and they said it would take a day or two. I went 5 days without the car we had bought less than two days prior to this issue beginning. Fast forward 3 weeks to February 5th and the check engine light is back on and the car is "kicking" and sputtering more than ever. Now it is back being serviced, but I have little faith in these people as the issue was not resolved the first time. They are incompetent and have no idea what they are doing. When I took my car in to get the oil changed for free (the ONLY good thing about this place) about four months ago I was told that the tires needed to be rotated. Fair enough, $20; tires rotated. About a week ago, I took my car in again to have the oil changed and was told that my brakes had scored the rotors and they needed to be replaced. Wouldn't it have made sense to tell me that the brakes were about to score the rotors when the tires were rotated? Apparently not to Basil Resale on Sheridan. If I didn't want that specific SUV so much, I would have walked out and never came back. Every single thing that could have gone wrong, did: * I confirmed my appointment twice, but the vehicle still wasn't ready when I got there. * They said I was a "VIP appointment." I got a 6oz bottle of water and there was no coffee. I still had to wait 45 min for them to bring the vehicle up. * The employees were bad-mouthing customers and other employees TO ME. Manager trashed service dept. Sales trashed manager. Finance trashed the customer at the next desk. * The salesperson tried pushing me to switch my insurance and registration to the new vehicle before I had a price from the bank. * They messed up the purchase agreement and had to overnight me a new one to sign. * The vehicle was not clean. I paid 36k- only to find dog hair, food crumbs & a dog toy in the third row! I contacted the manager and he said they fired their detail team and were using Delta Sonic. So nobody checked it afterward?? * I called the manager, Patrick who said He'd work something out with Delta to get my vehicle cleaned. I never heard from him again. * My registration was sent there instead of to me. I live an hour away. They didn't even bother to call me- they sent a POST CARD saying it was there and I had to send $15. I sent it the next day with a note that my temporary registration expired in a week. Nope, I got the reg AFTER the temporary expired. I sent a letter complaining about the service. They sent back an empty envelope with my $15 check in it. For REAL?? Not even an apology. read more

I took my car in for service after making an appointment for 8 am. let them know the issues and Cherish did inform me before the appointment I would need to leave it but they had a shuttle. I left my vehicle and was driven home by the shuttle. At about 2 they told me they couldn't figure out one of the issues and they needed to run diagnostics, fine. Call me back a bit later let me know my battery needed replace. I okayed it and Cherish called me back at 430 letting me know my vehicle was finally ready. I said I needed a shuttle ride and she let me know it was no longer running and they close at 5. A heads up would've been nice since now I had a half hour to get there and no car. She did tell me I could pay over the phone, it's important she got her money, me getting my car back, not so much. So I pay over the phone and they leave my keys in my car. She did offer to let me pick it up the next day when they opened but they didn't offer shuttles on Saturday either, gee thanks, Cherish. I did get a ride from my friend and get my car. The new battery didn't fix my problem and the car wreaked of gasoline, pretty clear there was a leak in my fuel lines that they didn't find after having my car for 9 hours. I did also bring it in for the lift gate not opening, for which they ordered a part. Cherish let me know the part would be in, in about a week. Fine, in the meantime due to the obnoxious, obvious and dangerous gas smell I went ahead and got a new car and dumped the piece of trash I purchased at Basil resale Sheridan. A week after getting my brand new Jeep and a full month or more of waiting for my part to come in Cherish calls to let me know it's in. Now, I understand that there are delays for almost anything die to the pandemic and can comprehend there being a long wait time; what I don't understand is the complete and utter lack of customer service. Not once was Cherish friendly or apologetic, instead I felt as if I were inconveniencing her every time she called me. I just hope they realize a little goes a long way when it comes to accountability and customer service. While, all the issues I had to deal with while trying to service my vehicle were minor inconveniences, the total lack of respect and any service made the entire experience terrible. I won't say anything about the obvious gas smell, that they had to have noticed but failed to address entirely, let's give them the benefit of the doubt on that. If you're still reading this and haven't gleaned the fact that this is NOT the place to buy nor service your vehicle then maybe it's the place for you. However, if you have read this and thought to yourself "wow, that sounds terrible". You are correct, stay far far away from this awful place. Go literally anywhere else. read more

I went here a while ago when I was shopping for my first car. My parents insisted I check this place out since they bought both of their cars here, so I agreed to check it out even though I knew I couldn't afford to buy anything outright or be able to finance. When I got there, I told the salesman Joe who had sold my parents their cars what I was interested in and what I would be comfortable paying monthly if that were an option, but that I had already found a car elsewhere that I was interested in paying cash for but I wanted to see all of my options before I bought it. I had a good sized down payment, but I wanted something less than $10,000 since I am a full time student and only work part time and can't really afford a $200+ monthly payment. I explained this, and he told me that they would not be able to finance anything less than $12,000. I wasn't comfortable with that, so I declined and said that I would come back when I was more financially ready. He tried many times to convince me to at least give more consideration, which I understand is his job, but after I declined again, he said "you can't always have exactly what you want, and you are acting like a spoiled brat". I turned around and left because I never expected to be treated like that. Also, a few months ago, my boyfriend was rear ended on his way home from work one day, and his car was pushed into the car in front of him. Coincidentally, the car he hit was this same salesperson. Before even asking if my boyfriend was okay, he handed him his card and told him that he would give him student discounts, accident discounts and a whole bunch of other "discounts" that don't actually exist if he came to his dealership when looking for a new car. Basil's response was that they checked out vehicle admitting that the hood was realigned, but further went on to say that nothing was wrong with vehicle. If nothing is wrong with the vehicle, why was work completed on my car? I anticipate on filing this with small claims court for the difference in value of a vehicle in excellent condition (the value of which the car was sold) minus the value of a vehicle in fair condition (the actual condition of the vehicle). Just go somewhere else and save yourself the headache! A business like this will take care of itself in a couple of years. read more

After having a healthy banter with the manager about a damaged used vehicle he tried to sell at market value, he decided verbally insulting me and walking away was a good way to sell a car. I may be a female but I am educated and fairly well spoken, I'm also well versed in negotiating the price of a car. He called me a "third baseman" after I made valid points and threw his hands in the air and walked away, muttering he was wasting his time. Be wary fellow consumers. We recently bought our third car from Basil Resale. From our first to our third car we were unsure of exactly what we were looking for. We went in to talk with them about what exactly our needs were. They spent so much time with us to help us decide what was best for us. The first two cars were for our children and safety was our main concern. They helped us pick out 2 great safe cars. Never did they try to sell us something that we did not need or want. When we walked through the lot we were never harassed by high pressured sales people. They came out and asked us if they can help, then gave us room to look on our own. Everyone from the sales personnel to the finance personnel was professional. They make the whole process very easy and stress free. We will continue to go through Basil Resale in the future and highly recommend them to our friends and family. this place is a total bait and switch/rip off. I had been speaking to "Amber" which I know believe does not exist. After driving 2 plus hours to meet her she was "not available" even though she assured me she would there. So was given a Josh for my salesperson. Took a test drive and then asked for the vehichle from another one of their dealelrships which "Amber" said woul be there for a test drive..was told it was sold. I also was told by "Amber"that all my financing was in line since I would need to use their "in house special financing" well got there and was told that I would need 7000-10000 down payment (yea that's right 7-10 thousand down). Got screwed!! Went one day just to look and got a "pre-approval" in the mail from a different company. Yes I know that I am very shy, gullible, and do not know much about cars, but the 3 days I was there, seemed like a crazy tornado I couldn't stop! I just felt completely sucked in and taken advantage of!! First, I said I could afford No more than $300 a month and after the "approval process" basically said I only had 2 options and they were the same car, just a year apart and different colors. I wasn't happy with that and said we'd probably just keep looking around. The salesman must have been "Not listening" because before I knew it, he had me buying this car! When I came back 2 days later, I told him I did NOT want this red car (that he already had the paperwork for) and he tells me that I wasn't even getting that car!! It was a newer model, less miles AND of course more money because supposedly the lender would only lend it for a more expensive car?!? So because I cannot speak up and felt no one else could help me, I bit the bullet...thn I go into finance and they tell me it's going to be almost $500 a month!! I said no way, nevermind because I told the salesman the maximum amount I could pay is $300. I then got the old, "I'll be right back" and he comes back to tell me that Basil will pay the other part for my loan, which they send me a check for almost $200 every month for a year and then I can refinance and NOT to let the loan company know they are doing this. Me being the trustworthy, gullible dink I am, I thought Wow ok great! I had NO Idea after talking to a lawyer, that THIS IS ILLEGAL!! Now it's too late Unfortunately the car was repossessed (yes I know that's MY fault) and I don't think I can do a dang thing about it! I should have trusted my gut! They took advantage of me and my situation and now I worse off than I was before! I don't think I can do ANYTHING now! It makes me wonder if the "big wigs" of Basil even know about stiff like this going on. Sad part is that I think they probably are a great company, but if you're someone like me, they (I should say some, not all) will take advantage and screw you over in a heartbeat! read more

From out of town working in the area. Had an issue with one of the company trucks and took a shot by taking it here to be serviced/repaired. Staff is awesome....they did it step by step and fixed the issue. They called to explain what they had found and what they needed to do for the next item. This place needs to be REPORTED!! Went in there for my sons car to get it checked out as he had scraped the underside and caused some damage.. They gave me a quote for a total of 800 dollars.. When I went to Allstate to make a claim, they were very confused as to the pricing.. They, and other insurance companies have basil and other car dealers pricing, and the total should have been 75 dollars NOT 800! The Allstate agent was APPAULED and called them up, and when he confronted them, the lady on the phone said "well I'm sorry but we can't fix her car anyways, we don't do work like that on cars *click*" SERIOUSLY?! Then I later called back the manager, and he tried to say that it included labor.. I stated that the Allstate agent also had the pricing on that too and it is NOWHERE near 800 dollars.. They refused to admit they jacked up the price, and then just laughed at me! I have NEVER been treated this way! We have taken it to another dealer, and they said what they did is called price jacking.. I also got quotes from other dealers, prices ranged from 70-120 bucks for parts and labor, it's a simple fix.. NOT 800 dollars!! We were also told from the other dealers that this is a common thing that basil resale does, it isn't the first time they have heard of this from them.. This should be illegal, and I WILL a be taking this farther after the nasty way I was treated and being laughed at and hung up on!
