I've had better but this was just ok. Wanted to have it more Hawai'i flavors - maybe Lilikoi and pineapple options? Also, too much granola. Would prefer more fruit but still was very good. Service was quick and the location is nice with water views.

Definitely tree house vibes over looking the ocean. Staff was really nice, answered all my questions, the ingredients are organic, some like the papaya is locally grown. The honey on top of the granola was my favorite part! Only notes is that for the large islander $18, putting a layer of almond butter between açaí and granola layers would take it next level.

Good, but I was slightly underwhelmed by this spot after seeing all the great review about it. Being in Hawaii I assumed that we would find some of the best acai, but it didn't really even come close to the best I've had. This spot is located up the stairs of a building and the seating up top is limited but there are more tables below. A small is $14 and a large (double the size) is $18, so I would highly recommend splitting a large with someone if you can. The price for a small just doesn't really seem worth it. We got the puna bowl which had the classic acai base with strawberries, blueberries, banana, and hemp seeds. The acai base itself wasn't really flavorful - I needed to have it with the banana to make it better. I did really like their granola though, and they were super generous with the portion size of it too. Fine spot to satisfy the acai craving, but don't expect anything too special.

First, let's start with the free parking validation--that was amazing. We ordered a small Islander and small Puna. The service was fast and friendly. The bowls were absolute perfection heaping with beautifully ripe fruit. Bonus points for the birds and random geckos hanging out.

Perfect way to cool down on a sunny day! Loved the Islander with goji berries on top also got the Puna. Definitely going back before heading home.

I've never had an Acai bowl. It was delicious. But I felt like some sort of teen wanna be annoying influencer poser. Why? Because omg literally everyone there was an annoying influencer wanna be. Acai bowls are the new avocado toast. Both delicious, but I'm too old for that crap.

Delicious and fresh and close to Ali'I drive. It was a 3 min walk from our room! There is lots of seating upstairs and downstairs with a beautiful ocean view! The chick working was super helpful and sweet and made a great recommendations! I heavily suggest the Puna Acai bowl!

Super cool place with a cute lookout spot to eat! Looks like a treehouse. May or may not have fed a little bird a piece of fruit.

Hands down still the best acai I have had since the first time I had it here back in 2018. The taste, the texture, the delicious crunchy granola, and the fresh fruits along with toppings. The have two sizes, the 16oz or the 32oz. Yes, 32oz may seem intimidating but if you love acai and you can tolerate cold food, 32oz is very manageable. If not, get one and share. Service is pretty fast even when there's a line. So don't be turned away by the line going down the stairs. Simple setting with some bar height stools upstairs, and if you prefer, they have some regular tables and chairs at ground level with some umbrella shades. Or you can just take it to go anywhere.

Atmosphere: 5 It was a little hard to find at first because it was above a rental business. So look for a two-floor shack-like building in the middle of the parking lot. Basik is on the 2nd floor. There isn't a lot of seating but if you can get seats upstairs, there's a beautiful view of the ocean! Ordering is easy and the menu is super easy to understand. Portion: 5 For one person, the small is enough. If you have more than 1 person choosing the same flavor, definitely get the large. It's basically the same amount of food for not-double the price. Flavors: 5 This is the best acai bowl I've ever had! It's so good that I came 3 times. I had the Kilauea and it had the best combination of toppings. The bee pollen adds a really nice crunch. I love that the granola is a bit grounded up (not too much!) so it's not in big chunks. For added crunch, add cacao nibs! Overall, this is the best açaí bowl I've ever had! So much so that I've been there 3 times in my 5 day stay! Highly recommend!

You must try a Acai bowl while you are on the Island, abudance of tropical fruits and nuts home grown. Basik cafe is in the center of Kailua Kona city, and typically offers Acai bowls and smoothies. However when I visited they did not have smoothies. I got the cacao Acai bowl small size, and it was very refreshing, topped with lot of granola, cacao nibs and fresh fruit. The prices seemed a little higher, but I finished the bowl happily without any complaints.

Basil Cafe is the perfect place to go to for breakfast or a quick snack before strolling along Alli Drive. The workers were very helpful and the food came out super quickly. The large is large so would definitely recommend sharing with others! There are 6 different types of bowls with different toppings that you can get. We loved both that we got! It is at the top of a snorkel gear rental place so you'll need to climb up a few flights of stairs to order. There are also parking spots available for customers! Minimal seating upstairs and a few tables at the bottom.

Really loved my açaí bowl and well as the view here! They have switched owners and rebranded to Açaí Co, but it doesn't seem updated on here; all the signage etc is Açaí Co. Very fresh and filling!

Yum. Great fresh bowl of fruit and açaí. Great place to grab a bowl of goodness! Add the chia sauce and extra granola. Delish.

The place was very busy and quite loud, so we had to sit at a high top in the bar. No big deal! Our server was incredibly attentive and made some great recommendations. We decided to start with quest and chips, which was brought out very quickly and nice and hot. As we inhaled the quest and chips, we decided on fish tacos for me and a veggie burger for my husband. The fish tacos were wonderfully seasoned and cooked very well. The tortillas were a bit greasy, however, and I was very happy there were two tortillas to each taco since there was also a bit more drip than I expected from the pico. I also had fries, and the fries were excellent! The veggie burger was epic. This was the second veggie burger from this group of restaurants he has had, and I'm pretty sure it's his favorite in the area. Perfectly cooked and seasoned well, with great fries. It was very busy here, which is always a good sign. Just wish the music wasn't as loud because it's hard to have any sort of conversation. I did enjoy how involved the singer was with the other patrons, so it was amusing!

This coffee shop is located in a small plaza with a pizza place, taco spot, and Merriman's. The plaza itself has plenty of parking even when it's on the busier side on a weekend morning, so it's not hard to find a spot. Inside the cafe, there's a retail section that sells clothing and small goods, and a separate side to place your order and sit and enjoy your drink. The interior is bright and welcoming with a minimalist vibe, and even when we visited on a weekend morning, it was easy to find seating either indoors or outdoors. Service was wonderful -- we were helped promptly by staff, and my drink came out quickly. I got the black sesame latte with a chocolate chip cookie. I thought my drink was perfect, as the flavor of the black sesame was nutty, pleasant, and just the right amount of sweetness paired with the espresso. The cookie was on the softer/puffier side, and although it's not my preferred texture, it wasn't too bad! To sum up, I really enjoyed dropping by to get coffee here, and I feel like the quality of the drinks at Surf Camp is consistent across their different locations. I'll definitely come back if I ever find myself on Big Island for another trip!

The shop had a very minimalistic design with the perfect touches of Hawaii that made it such a relaxing and homey place to have breakfast. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, which wasn't super crowded on a Saturday brunch time. I got the cucumber bagel and black sesame latte. I loved the crunchiness of the cucumbers and you can tell they care about the quality of their ingredients. The ricotta was the perfect touch and brought everything together for a simple and filling breakfast. I love black sesame, so it was such a nice surprise to see they had a latte on the menu. I liked the nuttiness of the sesame, but the coffee was more on the bitter side. Such a cute shop that is the perfect addition to Waimea town. I would definitely recommend coming here for food and to check out the shop!

Loved the ali'i mushrooms and shallots (although I would ask for them sliced and caramelized with the mushrooms instead of whole). Overall a solid dish. 5 stars. Chefs special - fresh catch mahi-mahi (could had used a touch more seasoning and hot pan sear) with perfect roasted carrots and broccolini on some nice mashed potatoes. I forgot the type of kimchee it had on top, but it was fantastic. Great combination of flavors and textures. 5 stars. Kids penne pasta - basic penne with good amount of butter and scant cheese. 4.5 stars. Everything was pricey, which is to be expected with hotel restaurants. But the food taste and quality was up to par for the most part. Our server deserves a lot of credit since she helped steer us away from some dishes and towards others. I hope the chef team takes into consideration what their long time staff (especially the ones with good taste) have to say about the rotating menu. I noticed the seafood chowder was not on the menu anymore and I asked about the new chowder and our server said it definitely wasn't as good. We were also visiting during a slower time so I'm guessing there are challenges on a number of levels. And shout out to the Cream-filled malasadas in the deli case...better than the fresh ones at the farmers market! 5+ stars!!
