Oxford is an excellent firearms training instructor. I've been shooting on and off for about five years recreationally, but decided I needed some formal training since I'd hit a wall. Oxford provided excellent guidance and feedback, and helped me noticeably increase my accuracy just with the first session. Among the many things Oxford helped me with was (1) instructing me on modern firing stances as I had been using outdated forms, (2) noticing some of the biomechanical bad habits I'd picked up [holding breath, improper trigger press], and (3) incorrect sight picture. I'm looking forward to more classes with Oxford and the Basiclee Firearms Training staff! read more

Oxford is an amazing instructor. I couldn't recommend him more. He is very calming, methodical, and patient. I really appreciate the manner in which he teaches. He let me set the pace of the lesson, but also utilized our time in the wisest ways possible - much bang for your buck! This man knows what he's doing. I look forward to taking another lesson. Very fun. Very informative. Great experience. read more

Have done a couple of training sessions with Oxford and he is patient, really cares about people having an enjoyable and safe time, and makes you know that he is there if you need him... Absolutely first rate. read more

Amazing lesson with an amazing teacher! Ox taught me the fundamentals of how to hold and aim a gun. Being someone that went to the shooting range one time prior and missed the target every time, I was stoked to be able to hit the targets this time. It was also sweet to see Ox's passion for guns and all the little details to safely shoot. Now hoping in the future I can look to carry and continue learning more from Basiclee. read more

Oxford is an excellent instructor. I've been working with him for a few months now and I have noticed significant improvements with my shooting skills. I'm currently working on pistol shooting and I'm looking forward to also learn shotgun and rifle shooting from him as well. He is very patient and professional. As well even though the classes are scheduled for 1 hour. He routinely goes over time making sure that you have gotten the most out of the classes. I find his expertise, knowledge, and guidance invaluable. Plus I shopped around. For the price and the training you get from him, you can't beat it. I only wish I got into shooting sooner. If you're on the fence don't be. It is Money very well spent for the training! read more

Oxford & Mike were fantastic. Will 100% be taking another lesson with them and would recommend them to others! My son and I were interested in experiencing going to a shooting range (first timers) and we are not gun owners. We got a 101 lesson over 1.5 hours where we learned step by step all aspects of safety protocol and how to shoot - and we got to use 5 different kinds of pistols. The last part of the lesson was us demonstrating that we could "put it all together" from safely loading the firearm to shooting it at a target to removing the the clip. All around very positive experience. read more

Oxford is a great instructor. Couldn't ask for better man. He's patient, thoughtful and most of all knowledgeable. Had a wonderful time in his shotgun and pistol training. Hope to be back soon. read more

As a first timer, I'm happy I decided to schedule a session with Basiclee Firearms Training. My instructor Oxford, was friendly and knowledgeable about gun safety. In addition to providing thorough instructions on how to handle a gun, he also discussed how to maintain mental composure when shooting. What I value most about him is his patience. Understanding something usually takes me multiple rounds of explanations and demonstrations, especially when it's something like this that requires lots of attention, but Oxford took his time with me which I greatly appreciate. In order to increase my confidence and understanding about firearms, I plan to schedule another session with him. There is no other place I would like to go to learn about firearms besides B.L.F.T. I would without a doubt advise anyone interested in taking guns training courses with him an! The man really cares about his craft and his clients. read more

I have been looking to learn how to use a handgun safely and accurately. The only experience I've had with any gun was a one time experience shooting a shotgun at a range. So with no experience and looking to learn as much as I can I embarked on a long research journey of finding someone with experience who could give me the basics. After reading Oxford's bio and his 5 star reviews I decided to take the chance. I went for my first training course this past Saturday and I'm hooked. Oxford was not only an amazing coach/trainer, he was patient, professional and provided very helpful tips on how to handle a handgun and also be an effective shooter. The in vivo training was so helpful in bettering my shooting skills and accuracy as well as teaching me how to be a responsible gun owner when the time comes. Can't wait to schedule my next class. Thank you, Oxford! read more

Oxford is a born educator. Highly competent, excellent introduction, and great teaching. Thank you for a valuable experience.

I had my first Basic Pistol lesson today with Oxford, and it was beyond my expectations! I have had some casual shooting experience in the distant past, never on a range, but since it's been over 30 years I was looking for a thorough and more professional approach to reintroduce the sport properly... I came to the right guy. Our session was at the Richmond Rod and Gun Club, which was a stellar experience in itself. Oxford is an extraordinary young man, having served in the Marine Corps as a firearms instructor and Security officer, now preparing to enter a law enforcement academy. He clearly has a passion and talent for teaching others about safe and technically proper firearm skills, including range procedures... I felt like I was being coached by a true expert in the finest method available. His style is enthusiastic, efficient, clear, friendly and specific... and was very tailored to my level and pace. Because of Oxford's session, I'm now stoked to continue progressing to develop competent skills towards using my own pistol at the range. read more

He's very patient and knowledgeable. Great instructor. Can't wait for another session.

I came across Basiclee Firearms on Instagram & thought this place might help me sharpen my skills. Scheduling an appointment was easy. Oxford is my instructor; a master of his craft. He is patient, kind, organized, and knowledgeable with years of experience around various firearms. Everything you need is provided as part of the package; Eyes, ears, ammo, firearms, & targets. You'll go over safety & rules first. Then, he will allow you to "dry fire" with nothing in the chamber as he observes and gives you stance, posture, grip, and aiming tips. Before you know it, you'll consistently hit the target because his guidance is so effective. Taking these classes helps me become more self aware & confident. Hand/eye coordination, breathing, focus, patience.... it all improves. Even if you have some experience with firearms, you'll be surprised about how much you didn't know before working with a professional like Oxford. Firearm safety is something everyone should be competent in. If you're in the Bay Area, I highly recommend this place. read more

I've been shooting before but having Lee was a great instructor and taught me the proper way to shoot a pistol and help fix some aiming problems I was having. I would love to go back and learn rifles with him in the future. read more

We went as a group of 4. I was impressed with Oxford's credentials and with the class and teaching style. Credentials include Marine's firearms instructor etc.. Extra bonus for various comforting things for those newbies around guns and instruction like giving a heads up on expecting the kick or lack of, for teaching posture saying "is it ok to touch your hip" and all of the good encouragement. Not a hint of macho gun culture, but just about safety and effectiveness. read more

Oxford was awesome. He really emphasized safety, which should be the number one concern for any instructor and new shooter alike. He conducted the lesson at a deliberate pace with simple and straightforward instructions that were easy to follow. He was very patient, understanding, and supportive. He made the whole process very accessible and un-intimidating for a newbie like myself. Highly recommend! read more

Oxford was incredibly helpful and just fun to be around in general. I really enjoyed how he tailors each persons experience based on what he sees during the training. He was very supportive, and made sure to correct me constructively and with purpose. Like clockwork, every time I struggled, he guided me, and the next shot was better. read more

Professional, knowledgable, patient, great communicator, and personable! I met Oxford at Richmond Rod & Gun Club to learn proper firearm safety and to learn how to correctly use my new revolver. I experienced traffic issues on my way to the club and Oxford was flexible with his schedule in order to accommodate my tardiness. He was extremely patient with me as we reviewed the safety protocols and then the proper use of the revolver. I learned so much in this one hour session. I highly recommend Oxford Lee if you require a firearms instructor. read more

This was such a fun time! We loved coming and Oxford gave great instructions! We will be back!

Can't reccommend this enough! As someone who had zero prior experience with guns, going in I was a little nervous and didn't know what to expect. Thankfully my instructor Ox, was an amazing teacher who eased me into it slowly, giving excellent directions, and really explaining everything very clearly. We first went over safety, and then basics like how to load, hold, and aim. Before long, I felt very comfortable and then we just worked on my aim. Every time my shots were off, Ox immediately knew what I did wrong, and was able to correct me. I mean just look at the picture, pretty good aim for my first time right? I really like that Ox doesn't just teach you how to use a gun, but that he educates you on firearms and really does a great job getting you comfortable with handling them. Just a overall amazing time, I came out of it with a lot of very valuable knowledge and now feel much safer around guns. But I really got to hand it to Ox, really great person with tons of expertise that just made everything easy and fun. read more
