I didn't realize that Anthony was exactly what I was looking for when we booked him for the New Shooters session. Great communication before the session. During the 1st session, he emphasized safety and was thorough about teaching important basics of owning, transporting and handling of firearms. A while ago I inherited a .22 revolver. I hadn't shot at all, let alone this revolver, in over 25 years. I scheduled a long session with Anthony knowing that I'd have a lot of questions before, during and after. He was incredibly calm and professional. We spent a bunch of time giving the revolver a cleaning and checking it out. He was patient during our time together (I'm an interrupter by nature...even though I constantly work at it) and he adapted quickly to the style of communication that works best for me. He was gracious when I had to reschedule due to Covid and even sent me youtube reference videos for cleaning my revolver. Top notch! I liked that there was only one other person at the range during my lesson. His lessons are after hours at the gun club and so it's not a cacophony of pops & booms, although admittedly it took a few minutes for me to stop jumping at the sound of the shot gun that was training on the other end. Anthony supplied better ear protection than what I'd brought along and was even kind enough to let me try one of his .38 revolvers. I learned so much from him in such a short time! Anthony is an amazing teacher! He was patient, thorough, passionate, and very helpful. He listens to you when you have concerns or questions and works with you to find the best technique for you. I am a woman with small hands and a lot of the "best practices" I found online just didn't work for me. Anthony gave me a lot of help adjusting for my physicality. Anthony celebrated my progress and was very encouraging and enthusiastic by the end of our lesson. Overall it was a great experience and I have found a new hobby! One last note: for any women or female bodied person, Anthony was very respectful and helpful. I had the pleasure of taking two shooting lessons with Anthony, and it was an incredible experience! Although I had some very basic prior experience, he recommended the First Time Shooters class, which turned out to be exactly what I needed. We covered essential topics like range etiquette, gun safety, and an overview of basic California gun laws. From there, we started with a .22 caliber, which was perfect for helping me focus on trigger control and proper body mechanics without worrying about heavy recoil. Once I felt confident, we moved on to a 9mm to build on what I'd learned. Been to a few sessions with Anthony "The British Marksman" so far... and I wholeheartedly recommend him as a firearms trainer. He acknowledges everyone is different and thoughtfully steps to your side to give custom tailored insight to suit the individual. I brought two pistols and we carefully worked our way through their similarities and differences. Each session we built on proper safety, terminology, and technique... A friend of mine and I took an excellent, pleasant class with Anthony today. My friend was a first-time shooter and I had some experience, but had not shot in a very long time. First Time Shooters was right for both of us. Bonus: My friend is left-handed and so is Anthony! I brought some gun violence baggage to the range, and was initially highly attuned to the other people and guns around me (there's a high degree of trust in being that proximate to strangers with deadly weapons), but Anthony was patient and kind about that. I had the pleasure of taking my first training session with Anthony at the end of May. As a newish pistol shooter I felt like I had hit a plateau in the amount of progress with my shooting technique (mostly learned off YouTube). With Anthony's help and advice I was able to isolate a few key items with my grip and sight presentation that helped me immensely with getting rounds on target at longer ranges. In just the first session ~95% of my rounds were on target at 15 yards where previously it was maybe ~50% at best. Anthony's ability to explain things simply and attention to the little things such as trigger pull or stance adjustments definitely improved my accuracy. Anthony was a great teacher, I've shot previously in the past when I was younger, but recently purchased my first pistol to get back into shooting and wanted some 1 on 1 pointers on how to improve, Anthony was able to help provide useful information and tips on my grip to and trigger squeeze to help me get more consistent shots placed into the center of the target.
