Not bad shooting for over 25 years hiatus.
    Bryan M.

A while ago I inherited a .22 revolver. I hadn't shot at all, let alone this revolver, in over 25 years. I scheduled a long session with Anthony knowing that I'd have a lot of questions before, during and after. He was incredibly calm and professional. We spent a bunch of time giving the revolver a cleaning and checking it out. He was patient during our time together (I'm an interrupter by nature...even though I constantly work at it) and he adapted quickly to the style of communication that works best for me. He was gracious when I had to reschedule due to Covid and even sent me youtube reference videos for cleaning my revolver. Top notch! I liked that there was only one other person at the range during my lesson. His lessons are after hours at the gun club and so it's not a cacophony of pops & booms, although admittedly it took a few minutes for me to stop jumping at the sound of the shot gun that was training on the other end. Anthony supplied better ear protection than what I'd brought along and was even kind enough to let me try one of his .38 revolvers. I learned so much from him in such a short time! If you have interest in learning to shoot, just want to try it once, or even just want to become more comfortable around firearms by learning more about them I highly recommend scheduling a lesson with Anthony. You will not be disappointed!

Anthony is an amazing teacher! He was patient, thorough, passionate, and very helpful. He listens to you when you have concerns or questions and works with you to find the best technique for you. I am a woman with small hands and a lot of the "best practices" I found online just didn't work for me. Anthony gave me a lot of help adjusting for my physicality. Anthony celebrated my progress and was very encouraging and enthusiastic by the end of our lesson. Overall it was a great experience and I have found a new hobby! One last note: for any women or female bodied person, Anthony was very respectful and helpful. He asked for consent before he ever touched my hands or shoulders and was clear and communicative when he did make changes. He also didn't loom behind me while I was at the target bench and gave me space to find what worked for me. I feel that he does take inclusivity seriously and is aware of how he impacts his students.

Easy to talk to and helped with identifying what you are doing wrong. Highly recommend.

Went with a girlfriend yesterday to meet Bill at the Richmond Rod & Gun Club to get lessons; to…read morelearn about gun safety, types of firearms and for the opportunity to shoot a variety of firearms. What fun I had! Bill is not only a fantastic instructor, incredibly knowledgeable, patient and personable, but he's great company to boot. You'd be hard pressed to ask Bill anything about guns and gun safety that he doesn't know, or to find a better instructor. I couldn't recommend him more for anyone wanting a great experience to learn about, use and feel more comfortable around firearms. We'll be going back to see Bill again for sure. Such a fun time, thanks, Bill!

I connected with Bill based on reviews here and via a recommendation. We had a good chat around…read morewhat I was looking for in rifle instruction. He seemed thorough and knowledgeable, so far so good. I then sent him a list of proposed lesson times, but didn't get any response. That should've been a red flag / hint of things to come, but I still followed up a week later. He finally replied and we set an appointment, weekday afternoon 4:30pm because he suggested it was an optimal day for a focused lesson when the range is closed to the public. On the day of, I left work early to drive over to Richmond. I texted him 4 minutes before the 4:30pm appointment time to let him know that I'd be there in 5 minutes. Bill then responds with an angry message cancelling the lesson, and calling me inconsiderate for being half hour late without giving a heads up. I was a minute away from the range, perplexed at what just happened. I pulled over to the side, sent him a screenshot of our 4:30pm time we had AGREED to. But I knew given his (supposedly) irate attitude, it was pointless to try to get that lesson anymore, so turned around and left. Bill either messed up / confused the timing, or intentionally made this up as a pretext for his own decision to cancel. He of course, never acknowledged my screenshot of our 4:30pm appointment time we agreed on. Suppose it's always hard to walk back or admit a mistake after escalating things. If only he was organized and not quick to blame others (assuming he wasn't being disingenuous), I might've gotten a lesson as these other reviews suggest. In any case, no point in arguing further with him, just sharing my experience here as Yelp intended and then moving on.

Gabe engaged both individuals with regard to safety, awareness, clearing malfunctions, stance, grip, sights and target focus...and the last 2-3 hours spent running drills through a stage that he set up. Movement and agility could be practiced, modified, sped up, adding layered motion and actions. All the while, Gabe is watching and identifying what could be done to get to where you need to be..unload, reload, get your stance right, and hit your mark. There was never any awkwardness. Any and all questions were asked without reservation. Gabe brings his enthusiasm and respect for the sport and discipline to the range. His clear communication and knowing how to string steps together to achieve fluid motion and muscle memory made both students want to learn more, be accurate and speed up! I cannot say enough fantastic things about this training...except that I'd love to have a full day session with a lunch break and more time to run drills at different stages...but to be honest, it was intense....and I started to get tired. In fact, today is the day after and every muscle in my body aches. This means..I went ALL IN. It says a lot when an instructor can motivate and have you digging deep to pull out all your effort and focus. Absolutely phenomenal training and I'm already checking with folks who can join me the next go around!!!
