This is a great little spot that builds off the original location in downtown Farmington. I love supporting locally based companies. The service was great. The build-your- own burger menu is perfect. The salads coming out of the kitchen looked great as well. The dining room is relatively small with their bar as about 1/3 of the dining area. This would be a perfect spot for a little food and a couple drinks after work. The happy hour menu looked legit. I gave this 5 Stars because this is not intended to be a Michelin star restaurant. It's a re-created hole in the wall intended for a good burger, fries, and a beer. It's everything it sets out to be. Kudos to Patrick and Martin who took great care of my wife and I during our visit. What a disappointment!! I had heard such great things about the burgers here. We walked in and it was medium busy on a Friday night. The hostess seated us and gave us markers and a menu that you check off what you want to build your own burger. We had never been here so didn't even know there was a regular menu. I found it later on the table. Guess I wasn't paying attention. I wish she would have asked if we had ever been there and maybe could have explained how things work. I liked the vibe of the place. It was comfortable and there are televisions all around to watch the games. Also have a bar. We got our burgers and they were all wrong. My husband had his toppings on my medium well burger and mine were on his medium rare burger. I can't eat bloody meat so I just sent it back and just ate some onion rings. Those were pretty good. A group of us went to celebrate the life of a loved one who passed away as thier favorite thing to eat was burgers. We understood that we could all sit together as was fine with it but was told they were fed up with customers that day and how many groups were coming in. Keep stressing the gratuity rules as if that was going to be a problem with it. The manager refused to come and speak with us and kept sending the wait staff over to basically say they could not serve us. I went with my family on a Saturday late afternoon to the Canton location. First we were asked to wait for 45 mins even though we could clearly see that tables were available but they would not call us occupy the tables. Then finally they called us and we placed the ordee almost immediately. They served us water and we were waiting for another 45 mins for the food. We could see that other guests who came in after us were served food before us and were getting ready to leave but we were asked to wait. Upon enquiry the waitress said they were trying their best but nothing explained how they were able to serve 2 other families who came in after us while we were just waiting for the food to arrive. Both the lady waitress had no compassion nor any regard for customer service and seemed like they didn't care. This is the most ugly and horrible experience for me and my family and we will spread the word about this nightmarish treatment we faced so others can avoid such a place and not get disappointed. We have vowed never ever to visit this place. Waste of our weekend time for nothing. read more

We had a small blip here to begin the meal, it involved a miscommunication and after a very long wait I was not best pleased. No worries though, they have a lovely manager who solves all things quickly and in such a friendly fashion. Good management is a must in any business as I would have missed out on trying the wares here. As it was all I missed out on was trying a drink or beer as planned (I never drink when annoyed, no one should). It is a very small place but wait staff is super on the ball and service is speedy, you will not wait on refills or any nonsense. The food is delicious. I went to the other BBB in Farmington quite awhile back but I think this is better. Closer to me too which is win/win in my book. Beyond the wait- which you should definitely expect- and the small issue at the very beginning, this was pretty much a perfect experience. We started with a pretzel app. The pretzels here are crisped outside and perfect doughy inside. Really good flavor. Add nacho cheese if you like that sort of thing. I much preferred the cinnamon butter. Soooooo decadent. You get that salty sweet dough perfection. Yum. As a special note to my vegetarian/vegan leaning friends, they serve THREE options that are non meat. A grilled portabella mushroom cap, a black bean patty or a falafel patty. If you are aiming for health they also have create your own salads which look fantastic! They even have my fave, a burger salad. I can see eating a mushroom "burger" or feasting on a salad as the weather turns warmer myself. Good options! Burgers are tasty. I had to take half of mine home it was so filling. That pretzel app and pretzel bun serve to fill a girl up. I had an avocado burger, the guac and avocado were stellar and adding a bit of garlic mayo sent the combo into the stratosphere. The sweet potato fries were perfection with the cinnamon butter. It made a fat girl blissful. James liked his cheeeeze burger with three different cheeses on a white bun. I was jealous of his pickles, they are the perfectly thin and flat cut type (my fave). His tots were great, perfectly cooked so that the insides are soft and outsides nice and crunchy. He used more nacho cheese with his but the manager gave me a tip to try them with the cinnamon butter and they taste like waffles when you do. Definitely a winner idea that! We will be back. I bought a Groupon for $16 worth of food and was excited to try out this place. It had gotten good reviews on Yelp, the menu looked tasty, and I had heard good things about the Farmington Hills location. So, my eating companion and I made our way to the location on a Friday afternoon. The parking lot was under construction and it was a little awkward but we found a parking spot and made our way in. I could see where they were going with the ambiance based on the name. The feel was as if you had walked down the stairs into a basement and were going to order something to eat...kind of a cheers feel, where everybody knows your name. I decided on the 8 oz. burger on a wheat bun with french fries and my eating companion got the Kobe burger on a pretzel bun with sweet potato fries. We also ordered the macaroni bites for an appetizer. The macaroni bites came and they were tasty but they reminded me of something frozen and reheated. My eating companion really liked them. Then, our entrees arrived. It was okay, not horrible but also not memorable. My eating companion felt the same. The sweet potato fries were particularly tasty and the cinnamon butter dip was divine. They were easily the best thing to me. The food made us feel heavy after and both of us felt not so great after our meal. Needless to say, we probably won't be returning to Basement Burger Bar. read more

This is an excellent place to get your burger fix. On my visits, I've avoided long waits by sitting at the bar. The bartenders are friendly and willing to let you try samples of their various drafts. My husband loves their small but quality selection of craft beers on tap. The burgers? Oh my god, THE BURGERS. I've only tried the Kobe beef burger, but it was so good that I shall not even try the others because I'm in love. It's a fat burger, always cooked exactly how I asked (medium rare) and seasoned perfectly. And anyone who follows my reviews knows I love tater tots, and wouldn't you know it? BBB serves hot, crispy tots with your burger for a couple bucks more. I love this restaurant. It's my new place to go when I'm in the mood for a burger. read more

Quality was poor ...The mushroom was flat and stringy and the pineapple had no taste.. the bacon was also very tough, .not to mention everything being very greasy for not even having meat on it . I really don't care for the gimmicky write (check off) your own order, but it's not horrible, and the food was DELICIOUS. My burger was perfect with the right amount of toppings, and the onion rings were great. My companion throughly enjoyed her black bean burger and fries. We were both delighted with our cocktails, and her raspberry mojito was gorgeous. The environment is a bit crowded and can be overwhelming, but as long as you're not looking for a serious conversation or intimate meal, you should enjoy it. read more

I have eaten at Basement Burger Bar twice and I was not impressed. Building your own burger sounds amazing, but if your burger topping are spoiled like mine were then you might reconsider. Sometimes the first experiences aren't always the best so I usually give places a second try. My second time back I decided to order just a plain cheeseburger. I usually order toppings on my burger, but I wanted to test the burger by itself. A good burger should taste good without toppings on it too. The burger was cold and bland, but my waitress saved the experience by taking my burger off the bill and giving me some free fries (which were actually tasty). All of the waitstaff I encountered at the restaurant were very nice actually so shout out to them. Hopefully you'll have a better experience with your burger when you give this place a try. read more

Basement Burger Bar is a fairly small restaurant in a slightly run-down strip mall. The parking lot was a maze of potholes and cracks. Inside, a small line had already formed but tables turned very quickly so the wait was shorter than the quoted 20 mins. Daily specials are available Monday to Thursday and Happy Hour is 3-6 and then 10pm until close. Tall tables line up around the restaurant, with a bar residing towards the back. Seven large flat screens, all tuned to different sports channel, entertained and distracted. While Basement Burger Bar is not in a basement, it definitely serves burgers. That is the focus of the menu, and to a lesser extent, salads. Appetizers provide a departure from these main items. For new visitors, the server clearly explains how to build a burger (or salad), selecting from different patties, buns and toppings. Or, another option is to select from one of the burger choices featured on the menu. Frickles, pickles coated in Italian seasonings and then fried, were mouth-burningly hot. Served with ranch sauce, they were a nice start to the meal. Next up was the bacon cheeseburger which featured a mountain of onion straws, bacon, and cheddar cheese on an 8oz Kobe patty. I ordered it medium rare but it came out more medium. While it was still good, it just was not awesome. The sweetness from the onions and Thousand Island dressing formed a good balance with the savory bacon. The side of tater tots was lovely especially with Coney fixings, served on the side. Given the burger was so huge, half came home. Surprisingly, this other half was medium rare. Excellent! The staff, hostess, busboy and server, were friendly and helpful. I've yet to try anything here that I don't like. In fact, B3 somehow always seems to surprise me. I should be used to their terrific service, their crazy-tasty food (I'm partial to the Greektown Fries while my wife craves their Tochos!) and their well-appointed bar, but each time we visit they somehow manage to impress us in some new way. Go for the food, go for the drinks--go for both! It's small enough to be private, an it has a good, intimate vibe. I was particularly impressed with the intelligent and courteous way that they reacted to the pandemic. They were able to walk a line few other businesses seemed able to. This place is not local to home, but whenever we go to Ikea we usually stop here for lunch. I changed it up this time and tried the chicken tender sandwich, and it didn't disappoint. The chicken was moist and the panko was crisp! The housemade red pepper mayo was really good! All of the housemade sauces have been outstanding. The only thing we have felt isn't worth the upgrade charge was the bison burger (tasted gamey, buffalo shouldn't taste like that) and the kobe burger (tasted exactly like the regular burger side by side). This is the third B. B. Bar in the Metro area and has been located in this commercial strip of Ford Rd. for about 3 years. The burger bar idea was born in 2010 by the Azar brothers and materialized in a basement in downtown Farmington, Michigan. Over the years, these burger bars have gained a loyal following throughout the area. Peter, my server for lunch today was super helpful in leading me through the checklist-style menu for my first time. It was a juicy Kobe Burger for me today with Pepper Jack, Caramelized Onions, Red Pepper Mayo and a Sunny Side Up on top. Wow...the juiciness and the flavors were over the top and when combined with some very good Rings, the B.B. Bar scored a solid nickel. Favorite spot when we go to canton, I don't eat meat so I love that they have portobello cap burgers as well as the black bean burger. Delicious burger and great spot for lunch (pictures of Kid Rock on the wall are just icing on the cake). Came here during the week for lunch while visiting Detroit, so had never heard of it before. Great casual stop! The burger menu is very easy, it's a big checklist you write on. You check off your burger (meat and size), bread (GF available), regular/free toppings (i.e. lettuce), premium toppings (extra i.e. fried egg), sides (fries, chili fries, onion rings), and then the waiter comes and picks it up! I got a special ground beef blend. It was extra but a delicious, well cooked (I order med-rare), and perfectly seasoned burger. I didn't do the premium toppings, just the regular stuff. I had Detroit chili fries on the side (Detroit is apparently known for chili? This was my only opportunity to try it!) and they were enjoyable with my burger. Not sure I'm crazy about Detroit chili but I enjoyed the fries. Meal came to about $14 before tip and I left full! read more
