We flew him home the next day, and the doctor met us at her office after hours on a weekend to assess him and help manage his pain. The result was nothing short of magical. Dr. Schafer is a true artist, and her kind, confident demeaner made a traumatic experience less terrifying. True to her word, my son's beautiful smile was (temporarily) restored within the hour. I have always known she is an amazing dentist, but this experience really showed her artistry, professionalism, and genuine kindness. I wouldn't go to any other dentist, and neither would my son! This is a review for the current owners & Dr Schulte…read more I can assure you this is the WORST Endodontic office you could possibly consider. If you choose to go here, you do so at your own physical and financial peril. Below is my wife's story, I feel absolutely awful that I haven't shared this sooner because we just found out that a dear friend went here for a root canal that also ended up getting infected, and they used one of the other Doctors in the practice. Clearly, the entire office is incompetent. Boulder area folks - do yourself a favor and avoid this office at all costs. Head 15 minutes right up diagonal highway and go to Endodontic Specialists of Northern Colorado instead. Dr. Milroy has been an absolute Godsend in helping my wife out of the horror that Dr. Schulte inflicted. I'll share the kicker to the whole story after you read my wife's experience, but just know that our experience landed my wife in the Hospital with out of pocket medical bills of almost 7 thousand dollars. Enjoy: ------ The negligence I experienced from Dr Schulte and his practice was every person's nightmare of a horrendous dental experience. I would NEVER use this doctor or practice again and feel it is my duty to warn others as well. While Dr Schulte is a nice man his root canal and after care landed me in the hospital for four days culminating in an invasive surgery on my jaw, mouth and neck. What began as a routine root canal ended up in over three months of procedures and appointments. During my appointment he used a novocaine technique that was extremely invasive and that my current endo says she uses only as a last resort and ALWAYS follows up with an antibiotic. I had bleeding that would not stop and the procedure that normally takes 30-45 minutes took over two hours. The instant my novocaine wore off I knew something was wrong. I called his office the next morning asking about infection. Many times he insisted I did not have one. I was given steroids which not only aggravated the pain but caused me several sleepless nights. My pain was off the charts. I went back in and he did another xray. Checking both that tooth and the other near it. He once again said that he felt there was no infection and sent me home with pain meds. When the pain meds did not touch the pain I called again. He told me I had to get through the weekend and that it was likely that I was just super sensitive. I asked again about infection and he said no. Woke up next day to swelling. And then the next day my face was three times normal size and I had 104.7' fever. We called the on call doctor who put me on antibiotics. Never once did Schulte call himself. We had to call the office several times on Monday and call the on call Dr again (who is in a different practice) to even get a call back. He then recommended I stay on this though I was no better. Next day we called again to get him to change the meds. When my throat began to feel swollen we went to the ER. A CT scan showed three abscesses and my fever was still 103. I was transported to a hospital an hour away by ambulance where I received countless rounds of IV antibiotics for a septic like infection and a surgery and drains placed in my neck to drain the infection. I am still undergoing care for the damage done to my mouth and jaw. To say it was a nightmare is an understatement. We amicably asked for his help in paying the outrageous hospital bills and have been given the run around much like his after care! While I am aware that infection is a risk it is not the fact that I got one that is my issue. It is the fact that he neglected to listen to me when I told him something was clearly wrong. I had three abscesses by the time I got to the hospital in my jaw, neck and mouth. He was completely negligent yet insists I received the standard of care he would give his family. Wow. He must not like his family!! Clearly I would NOT recommend this practice! ------ Here's the nail in the coffin to this horror tale - only in our after care post surgery X-rays did we come to find out that HE DID THE ROOT CANAL ON THE WRONG TOOTH! I've had extensive care at Experience Dental Boulder, including 6 crowns and multiple fillings…read more(4-5) upon becoming a new patient. The billing has been the worst part; my crowns were high $x,000 in total; some portion of the work was deemed unnecessary by insurance and not covered. Without me knowing about this they tried to dispute it with Delta for almost a year, and then they 'sprung' to my eyes a $x,000 super-late scary "will go to collections charge on me". The problem is they can't produce an invoice, want me to pay by CC over the phone, their email is a somewhat-shady-seeming @gmail.com email address. It took a month to get an invoice produced with services rendered or an insurance breakdown of what was covered. Some yellow flags for me personally are plaques in the office not about Dental achievements but about winning business plan competitions, aggressively cross selling sealants, whitening, sleep apnea treatments, mouth guards, etc. There are multiple signs asking for Google reviews, mentioning staff members by name so they can get $5, and overall for my taste it's a too-modern, over-optimized dentists' office with a D+/C- back office.

I became a patient at Experience at the end of October 2024, because it was painful to bite on one…read moretooth, and Experience had a much higher Google rating* than my previous dentist. By the time I fired Dr. Altdorfer (January 8, 2025), I had pain in three teeth and couldn't eat anything crunchy or chewy on either side of my mouth. In between, Dr. Altdorfer installed one crown to treat my tooth pain, and 4 fillings which he assured me were necessary. But 2 of the fillings had problems. They hurt to bite on or floss, and one of them was sensitive to temperature changes. I complained to Dr. Altdorfer twice about this (and some continuing pain in the crowned tooth) over the course of December and January, and he assured me that everything was just fine and I was just being extra sensitive. Well I finally got to a new dentist, who found out that things were very definitely not just fine, and took the x-rays to prove it (see below). Turns out, Dr. Altdorfer had left literal holes ("voids" is the technical term, if you're interested) in my teeth. A Google Search will show that these voids are known to cause pain while biting and sensitivity to temperature. Even when presented with evidence of the voids, Dr. Altdorfer continued to insist that I was just being sensitive and the filling pain would probably go away on its own. The pain did go away, but not on its own. I had my new dentist redo the fillings and the biting pain was immediately gone. I actually have more complaints than this (they cancelled one of my appointments and forgot to tell me!), but this review is already getting long. If what you want from a dental practice is massage chairs in the waiting area, Experience is for you. If you want consistent, high-quality, dental work, I suggest looking elsewhere. *A note on reviews. Experience says they give $10 to staff members if you mention them in a 5-star Google review. And they reminded me about this on my way out. It felt like I was leaving a restaurant without tipping, like I might be offending them by not giving them a good review.

Instead, I felt as if I was walking into someone's tranquil living room, and Lisa (office manager) came right over, shook my hand, and offered me coffee, water, etc. Lisa was very gracious and had a soft demeanor--just the type of professional you'd want to greet your patients, especially if they suffer from anxiety when visiting the dentist. Mary (Dr. Kemmet's assistant) was also very lovely, professional, and accommodating. When I was checking out, Mary asked if she could make me a latte for the road. I have never in my life received such wonderful treatment when checking-out of a healthcare provider's office. And finally, I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Kemmet. She is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and warm. She explained in great detail all of the services for which I had questions. Once she understood my goal and completed a thorough assessment, she recommended some services that paralleled my goal, and advised me to stay away from others that were not needed. Dr. Kemmet noticed that I was breathing inefficiently, so she taught me how to breathe to optimize my health and gave me the name of a book she recommended on the topic. I briefly mentioned that I was experiencing some hormonal issues, and Dr. Kemmet immediately suggested that I schedule an appointment with a nurse practitioner who specializes in balancing hormones. It was clear that Dr. Kemmet was assessing me holistically and was not just focusing on my mouth. Don't bother going to any other dentist. I had a crown break and come off over the weekend. Searched the internet for dentists on Monday. Dr. Wallin had great reviews. I called and his office was closed until Tuesday. I was not in pain, so left a message expecting an appointment within a couple of weeks. Tuesday morning I receive a call from Dr. Wallin's office telling me they could fit me in at 11am that morning! When Dr. Wallin and his assistants examined by crown situation, he told me that they had a last minute cancellation and he would be able to fit me for a new crown right then!! Additionally, I explained that I was late for a cleaning. He checked with his Hygienist, and she said she would clean my teeth while I was there too! Less than 2 hours later I walked out following a full dental exam, complete set of new xrays, and a sonar teeth cleaning to boot. Dr. Wallin provided me with a full consultation about the condition of my teeth, gums and mouth. One of his nurses gave me an injection prior to preparing my new crown and I never felt even a pinch from the needle. The office manager fully explained all itemized costs prior to any procedures and what my insurance would cover. The prices were more than reasonable ( I have had plenty of dental work). I left the office feeling like I just met a bunch of new trustworthy friends who really cared about my health. Everyone was professional, polite, demonstrated experienced care, and extremely friendly. I am glad they had room to accept me as a new patient.
