We had a party of eight and they started us off downstairs which was very crowded, loud and then between ordering drinks, wine, appetizers, somebody decided to move our party to the second floor. As we continued upstairs, we then ordered several different appetizers for the table. The bacon app was OFF the chain delicious absolutely out of this world, the flavor was phenomenal. Definitely give it a taste Lobster appetizer cooked perfect could not have been better. We also had some calamari and that was just so so so Did not impress as it seemed like it was rather overcooked... Now let's get to the service impeccable, very, very good. The waiters and waitresses were phenomenal. The service we received was absolutely the way I would expect it... Now let's start with the food all of our entrées from the ribeye steak to the wagu beef, Everything was cooked perfect. I heard several comments. The salmon was absolutely delicious. Shrimp phenomenal taste. So I would have to say this was an absolutely perfect evening for all eight of us... Our visit was wonderful! We stopped in for a couple of drinks and appetizers and enjoyed it all. We sat at the bar & ordered a smoky old fashioned & a skinny margarita. Both drinks were perfectly prepared & were presented very nicely. We ordered the Garlic Shrimp appetizer & Calamari appetizer. The Garlic Shrimp sauce was outstanding and the shrimp was delicate & delicious. The calamari was delicately breaded & served with a light glaze and yummy dipping sauce. It wasnt cohesive. Bread service? Really? We ordered it instead of an appetizer. Usually bread is complimentary, yet no free but rather is included in the overall cost of the items in the restaurant. Now, if you want to call it "bread service", in my opinion it should include a variety of different types of breads and butters/spreads. What makes a five star review possible. It's a combination of atmosphere, selection, quality and service. This place hits all of those and more. The staff is helpful, friendly and eager to share the history of the restaurant and offer honest opinions on food and drink choices. The French onion soup was excellent as was the Caesar salad. The prime rib and wagyu NY strip both done to perfection. The sides of Mac & Cheese and Brussels sprouts great complement to the meats. The final crème brûlée was perfect. Went to dinner at Bascom's for an early Mother's Day / birthday dinner for party of 7. Mother in law uses a mobility scooter and they were very attentive in making sure she was settled comfortably. Christopher, our waiter, was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We never had to request a refill on drinks or ask for dishes to be taken away. Appetizers, main courses, and desserts were excellent as usual. I also suggest joining their free rewards program. The points add up fast and can be used as real dollars off your bill. Bascom's is one of the most underrated steakhouses in Tampa Bay. I would put their beef / entrees up against the more 'popular' steakhouses any day. Will be back, hopefully soon. read more

We've been here three times within the past two months. One time with 11 family members, another time with my wife, son, and I. Our latest for our anniversary, all times the food was excellent and the service top shelf. I'm a pretty boring diner. French onion soup, filet mignon medium rare, and a loaded baked potato. Give me that and I am one happy camper! The quality of the food is excellent. The filet is always so tender and cooked perfectly. The onion soup is rich with lots of onions and delicious cheese melted over toast. The baked potato is huge, with a salt crusted outer skin. Amazing food and service. I ordered the house salad to start. The Parmesan cheese on the salad was worth the price of admission alone. I had filet mignon cooked a perfect medium rare. Not all beef is created equal and the taste was fabulous. I paired it with a lobster tail and I can tell you being from New England he ships those in fresh. Added the grill asparagus and I have half of everything to take home. Sadly I'm dieting but you will find crème brûlée on the dessert menu which I will post below. Great local chop house in the area. Was able to make reservations online and was seated immediately. They were packed and it was a bit loud in the resturant. I was able to try their French onion soup. It was delicious and wasn't salty. I ordered the filet with side of broccolini. Steak was cooked medium well and it was perfect for me. The steak did come with side of crispy onions. As for dessert I got to try their banana foster with brown sugar ice cream. It was delcious and enjoyed the hot and cold mixture of the dessert. I always recommend a great filet & several in my party recommend the dry aged Wagyu ribeye! Freakin phenomenal. Cooked to perfection. Servers are well-versed on menu items & give the feeling of a high end dining experience. If you enjoy a "Cadillac margarita", order it! Every time we visit my hometown of Clearwater, we make sure to eat here & all friends are more than happy to meetup here for dinner. We started with the beef carpaccio and the buffalo cauliflower, the carpaccio was delicious probably the best thing I had all night the cauliflower was muh. I've had the boneless ribeye as my entrée and it came with fries. I ordered it medium rare should be a warm red center but it was overcooked more of a medium and for a steakhouse you've got to get the cook right... Fries are the easiest thing in the world so why are you serving broken bits for the bottom of a frozen bag?! Now I know why I waited so long to try Bascom's chop House, first and last visit... I've been to a lot of restaurants, specifically steakhouses. The service was good but my husband's steak was underdone. For high end restaurants, I have high expectations. We did notify one of the managers (I think he was a manager), but he was caught by surprise by husband's comment and just offered to touch up the already eaten steak....Our waiter said the same thing. Neither apologized, which is upsetting. Honestly, we just wanted some type of discount, because my husband left half of his steak on the plate, but we didn't get any discount at all. I wasn't sure what to expect so me and my partner came dressed up. Didn't know if this was a T-shirt and jeans or fancy tux kind of steak house. We chose to get dressed up. Well it didn't matter. People wore shorts, jeans, fancy dresses, tuxes and a lot in between. The ambiance was nice. It was dark enough to convey privacy but bright enough to read the menu. One of the tables by us was celebrating graduation another was a bachelor party there were a few dates and people eating dinner. We didn't have to wait long we had a reservation, you don't need one if you're at the bar, but you may have to wait. The food quite delicious I got seafood and my partner got steak. We both got a few cocktails. I didn't take any photos because I brought my appetite. I didn't realize the food would take so long so next time I'd order an appetizer. Will I go back? So I give it 4 stars because it was good and I did leave satisfied but compared to other steak places I have been to I can't say this was top on our list but a place we could come back to. To start we got the fried lobster which was amazing and I highly recommend. The billionaire bacon was good but the lobster was better. I got the ribeye and my husband got the filet mignon. My ribeye didn't loom big as it should for the ounces but it was cooked well and it had good flavor. My husband liked his filet mignon. The baked potato was awesome. Everything pictured are my usual favorites whenever I see sea bass on the menu that's usually my go to. I came here for the Valentine's price fix menu. There is a $79 option and an $89 option. I opted for the $89 option and ordered: Billionaire's Bacon - easily the best item we tried all night. I don't have any idea how this is seasoned, but wow oh wow is it delicious! I'm not really sure how to describe it, but it's super sweet. Caesar salad - standard All natural bone in ribeye - The steaks are fine, but superb, not bad. I felt like the steaks are missing seasoning and some butter. It's like they bought the steaks and out them straight on the grill without doing anything else. I ordered medium well and it was right on the spot. There's almost no lime in the key lime pie. The Rosemary and orange old fashioned was straight shots of bourbon. We sat upstairs and the is live music. Luckily we were far away as it was loud. Some people did get up and dance to certain songs. The staff was attentive and always came by to fill up your water. I'd totally come back for the bacon, but you can get better steaks, salads, old fashioned, and key lime pie elsewhere. read more

Everything took forever. Seated at 6 pm and begged for the check at 8:30. I have had better service in a Cracker Barrel. Steaks were 130 a pop, sad and charred, flavorless for wagu. The server didn't do refills; we had to repeatedly ask. She didn't bus the table till we stacked it all precariously on edge. She didn't replace the napkins she took, forgot requests, silverware, drinks, sugar, and at the end, bagged all our food into one bag. We asked for an extra bag, but she didn't bring it. Banana foster was crap, wasn't fired, and tasted like baby mush. We weren't going to wait for it, but decided to give it a shot. Four people, 500$ - not including drinks we never got or tip. I should have gone to Bern's, Charlie's, Eddie V's, or heck, Roadhouse. They said there was a dress code... There isn't. It was like eating at Walmart. The table was small. The room was dated. The server was using the same tray to bus as she was to serve. Drink orders took 30 mins, so we started timing it. Gave up on it. Just wanted to go home. I didn't look at the check, just the total, and pushed my card to her so she couldn't disappear again for 30 more minutes. I don't know who is running the place, but he/she should bring a four-top in and try to get a meal. Maybe if you have a large party, they take care of you, idk. I honestly believe most people could get better service, ambiance, and steaks at Roadhouse. If you want fine dining and good service at about the same price, I suggest Bern's, Charlie's, Eddie V's. I usually don't do reviews, especially bad ones, but this was so bad on so many levels. Had the price been in the 150 range, I might not have minded so much. Heck, if the steaks had been good, I might have just written it off and never said anything. read more

I ordered oysters and they came up almost immediately. I was so impressed. Then I ordered a salad and waited for almost 30 minutes. Then I ordered prime rib and a side. People who came in. After me ordered and received their food before I did. It turns out the server, forgot to put in my orders and each time apologize. I expected some sort of comp for having to wait so long for my salad and for my entrée, but I was presented with the full bill. I paid it and left a meager 15% tip. I was going to leave it at that but I asked to speak with a manager on my way out. He was very apologetic and gave me $40 in giftcertificates. This place was definitely the place to be for streak houses near Clearwater! We came here for our dinner celebration after our engagement, and had a wonderful time. The service was prompt and excellent. We ordered the shrimp cocktail to start, and that was definitely the most disappointing part of our meal. We're definitely suckers for the famous St. Elmo's cocktail sauce that has a kick of roughly an NFL kicker, so the fact that the shrimp was jumbo but had 0 flavor and the sauce was more of a tomato sauce was a bummer. The lobster bisque has excellent flavor and was the perfect creamy consistency, but really didn't have too much in terms of lobster itself. Our sides were the creamed spinach and Brussel sprouts. The creamed spinach was delicious but the brussel sprouts were not very crispy and definitely not much of a balance of salty and sweet (which is what we were expecting with the ricotta and raisins). Steak wise: the wagyu steak was delicious. Incredibly tender, a decent amount of marbling. The fillet was quite a bit thicker than expected, but still decently flavorful. Highly recommend making a reservation, and if you can, request Zach. They had live music upstairs as well. Their special was any bottle over $50, you'd get 25% off the bottle. Huge selection of wine from all over the world. Appetizers- Stone Crab. Since they're in season, we thought, why not? They did not disappoint. Billionaire Bacon - this is an appetizer, but it needs it's own spotlight. The BEST bacon we've ever had. You order by the strip and it comes out hanging from clothes pins (We didn't get a pic because we inhaled it too quickly). It's slow roasted for hours and it's covered with black pepper, red pepper flakes and brown sugar. Life hack: order a piece and have it with your steak. Main course - USDA Prime Ribeye & Filet Mignon. I'm going to be completely honest, I've been to Bern's steakhouse a handful of times, and Bascom's steaks are 10x better. The flavor is out of this world and cuts like butter. Like I said above, order a piece of billionaire bacon and have it with your steak, it's so good. For sides we had grilled asparagus, spinach and smoked Gouda Mac and cheese - all great servings for two people. Dessert - Flourless Chocolate Torte. Super dense and flavorful. It pairs great with a glass of red wine! This is officially our steakhouse of choice, we will be back! read more

My husband and I celebrated our two year anniversary here this year. I'm not sure what I expected but it certainly wasn't this. The food was incredible. We ordered the Australian waygyu, lobster Mac and cheese, and Sea bass as entrees. We had the French onion soup and lobster escargot as appetizers. The only other place I've had lobster that perfectly cooked was in Boston. The flavor of every dish was so unique to itself. I can't even begin to explain how amazing the waygu was prepared.
