Everything you would want in a great steak house. Good wine selection, excellent food and attentive service. The details: the bacon appy lived up to the expectations set by people on Yelp. Peppery plus sweet, thick cut. It came hanging from some device (since we got more than 1) with clothespins. The wife and I disagreed a bit on the French Onion soup. I loved it while she thought it was fine but not the best she's had. The prime rib was tender and delicious. We also got the duck special. Didn't go there thinking about duck but duck is harder to find than lamb chops on a menu so went with that. It was served with an orange/Grand Marnier sauce with a bit of green beans and scalloped potatoes. We brought home 1/2 of each entree and enjoyed them the next night. They gifted us a dessert since it was our anniversary. Nice touch. Did the creme brulee. Nice and crisp on top but would say the custard was a bit thinner than some. We celebrated my birthday at Bascoms and it was terrific. They sat us right on time, and the service was friendly and impeccable. We both had a filet mignon cooked exactly as we ordered. They have a lovely wine selection as well. The only complaint I have is that lobster mac & cheese and scalloped Potatoes were way too salty. That's just a warning for people with high blood pressure. We had a lovely crème brûlée which was complimentary for my birthday and very much appreciated. We are looking forward to returning soon. read more

My favorite restaurant ever!!! I moved to cali and miss it so much! Want to fly back to florida just to eat here lol. The garlic shrimp is best shrimp dish I have ever had in my life. The prawns are huge and the garlic sauce is just to die for - its creamy and garlicky and tangy and just the best sauce scampi sauce I have ever had. Their french onion soup is also the best I have ever had in my life -Hands down. Sooo tasty. The house salad is amazingly good! One of best salad's I have ever had as well. I ordered those three items every time I went and they have always been amazing. My boyfriend would always order a steak which he loved. Their chicken marsala was also amazing. sides of mushrooms, mashed potatoes, au grautin potatoes and creamed spinach were all amazing. I love the dark atmosphere and layout of restaurant as well. We had a great evening celebrating our friend's birthday a day early. She is a Christmas baby. This restaurant encourages Yelpers to go to enjoy a meal -- free $10 appetizer with the purchase of two entrees and 5% cash back. Good deal. Helps with the cost of the dinner which averages around $35 per entree plus ala carte sides. We had at the table prime rib, NY Strip, a pork chop and ahi tuna. The temperature of all was perfect. The swiss chard served with the tuna was over salted, but the server promptly replaced with tasty rice. The house salad was disappointing. The baked potato and the onion soup was good. The service was a bit slow but it was Christmas Eve and very busy so all was good. We found a parking spot in their lot but there was valet parking available. Once walking through the door you can tell that this establishment cares about its guests. They placed our party in a private room as we were celebrating a birthday. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly. The food, well, absolutely outstanding. The calamari appetizer was fantastic. Fresh, not chewy. The fried lobster bites are a must as well. I really, really, really wanted to like Bascom's. I was seated at a table in the bar area - guess they did not want to waste a table on one person by seating me in the dining room - we one person heathen Yelpers can be such a disruptive agent of change when allowed to sit with the masses! I was feeling like some red meat. As I looked over the menu, I knew this was going to be an expensive dinner. I finally decided on an order of the Oyster's Rockefeller (a half dozen), a French Onion Soup, a Caesar salad, and a petite Filet mignon - the smallest steak they offered. I asked them to butterfly the Filet and cook it mid-well. Sounded like a lot of food, but then I was feeling really hungry. Famous last words! The Oyster's came out first - my first thought was that these were huge oysters. Was I ever wrong! In fact, the oysters were among the smallest I've had in along time. Most of the dish was spinach and cheese on top of the oysters. Then the soup and salad came out. I love a good FOS - and this just was not it. I make one of the best FOSs, I've ever tasted. A good FOS will have a yummy, slightly sweet flavor to it as the onions achieve caramelization. This soup was bitter. And it needed salt. A lot of salt. I added some, but it just could not make up for the bitterness of the soup. The Caesar salad was good - but it could have been better. They needed to offer fresh cracked black pepper - which they did not, and they Caesar dressing was a little on the skimpy side, and they should have thrown a little more anchovy on the salad. Finally, the Filet mignon was brought out. It was cooked almost to perfection. One section of it was not Mid-well, but it was close enough that I could work with it. The cut of meat was delicious. The problem was it could have been so much better - with a little seasoning. My Filet Mignon is so much better - and it takes so little effort to kick up a notch. After dinner, I had a drink, and it was the best part of the entire dinner by far. I ordered a Vodka martini with Ketel 1, dirty with an extra olive. Excellent drink! Maybe I should have dranken my dinner! There seemed to be an awful lot of old folks in this place - made me wonder if this is a retirement community - after all - it is Florida! read more

BEST STEAK IN FLORIDA? IT COULD POSSIBLY BE TRUE. Tom Terrific here with another honest restaurant review. ( You may wonder where my past 500 reviews went. Previously I stated in all my reviews "My thanks to XXXXXXXX for their request for an interview." That group had asked me for an interview regarding my reviews. I was contacted by an attorney representing that media for mentioning the name of that prominent organization. The attorney told me to remove the name of that media from all my reviews Immediately and so I just deleted all those reviews). After a long meeting of political minds, I was hungry. Bascom's Chop House was nearby and had been on my list for a long time. I walked in and was greeted. I asked for a table and had a short wait with no reservation. I lucked out. I studied the huge fish tank and the strange species in it. very nice. I was seated in the side section to the left, given a menu and my server Jason appeared soon after. I ordered a blueberry lemon drop cocktail, a sesame seared tuna appetizer, a wagyu NY strip done medium with a side of mushrooms. I gazed around the room at the wainscoting and green walls. It reminded me of a wealthy man's library or study. Elegant and calming. I checked out the men's room. It was clean with an item i had never seen before. The paper towels to dry your hands had the Bascom's name on them. Unique! My cocktail came along with a basket of warm bread rolls and seasoned butter. The alcohol was tart and delish! No more than 10 minutes had passed before my seared tuna was presented which is well under the industry standard. It had caramel soy, passion fruit pearls and wasabi for $19. it was decoratively spooned on and had a small mound of green wasabi ( a Japanese horseradish). It was the sharpest horseradish I ever had and tears came to my eyes. I took too big a forkful and paid a price for my ignorance. The tuna was fresh and hearty just as I like it. The caramel soy sauce added to the flavor rather than overpowering it. Soon my wagyu steak came. It was on the menu under the heading LUXE CUTS - Wagyu New York Strip (14 oz) Australian Kobe beef. It had zero waste or fat and was all meat. That's how I want it, all trimmed out. It had the grill marks on it and was a deep brown color. On the plate with it were some grilled onion straws and in a side dish my mushrooms and onions ($6) in a very tasty sauce. I loved them. Now for that steak. You have to taste it yourself to believe me. Let me say I do NOT know if wagyu ( from my knowledge it's usually a rare Japanese bred bovine meat) is aged. It did not say so on the menu. I had an aged steak at Fleming's Steakhouse two weeks ago and it was very good, but not a wagyu. I had wagyu at Ocean Prime a year ago that came in slices that was too buttery for my taste. This wagyu, the NY strip at Bascom's is the Mount Olympus of steaks that I have eaten. Full, profound, bold steak flavor, easily cut and melt in your mouth. I had to force myself to slow down and enjoy the smell and flavor. That steak was worth every penny. Oh that reddish pink in the middle was so beautiful. Perfectly grilled. As a former chef myself I know it takes experience, knowledge of your grill and it's heat, how a certain steak cooks and your touch to tell how well done a steak is. I was taught to press down lightly to find how well done a steak is. Bascom's must have some excellent chefs. As an aside, Bascom's also has a prime USDA NY strip 14 oz for $49. To finish I ordered an Italian margarita which most bartenders do not know of. It's a regular margarita but with a splash of Amaretto and sugar on the rim instead of salt. It came (surprisingly) in a tall Collin's glass instead of the traditional rocks glass. That's not a complaint. It was the best I ever had. The manager Casey came to my table to see how everything was. I told him GREAT. I was curious about their lobster bisque, sampled it and found it was very good as well. I have no doubt that everything on the menu will please even the most jaded palate. No wonder everyone praises the restaurant. No wonder it has earned so many awards. Updating my review since I've been here multiple times now. The place is definitely traditional style; i.e. lots of wood cabinetry and trim, etc. The two servers we've experienced were both incredible; Pam and Marko. They're also very accommodating; I told them that we had a stroller with us on the phone making the reservation and they saved a table for us that was perfect for that; there's this little area off the side of the bar near the fish tank that only has two tables and no thru-traffic, so it made it very easy to park the stroller and not be bothered. Hell, when the baby needed to be held and my wife and I were taking shifts eating, Marko even offered to hold her lol. Great staff. The first time we came was because of a Yelp coupon for $9.95 app. There are only three appetizers on the menu that are $9.95, out of the 20 or so options, so we ordered the calamari. Bascom's serves their calamari with a white sauce that tasted like it had some mustard or horseradish in it. I thought it was very good, my wife prefers marinara so Pam promptly brought that to go along with it. I had a wedge salad and my wife had the house; both times we've been. The wedge was quite good; very fresh and pungent blue cheese all over it, just how I like it. The lettuce was cool and crisp, tomatoes firm and fresh. Entree-wise, I had their seared ahi tuna and my wife had the petit filet Pittsburgh style rare; we have had that both times now too lol. Kitchen didn't miss a beat on the steak which we've found to be kind of hit or miss around the bay area, if you're lucky enough to find a server who even knows what Pittsburgh style is. Our second visit the steak actually tasted like one of the best we've had. Not that it was bad on the first visit, it was very good and worth of four stars, but this second time, it was just about as good as it gets. We'll have to try a few more times to see what the average is. The ahi tuna was seared perfectly and tasted fresh both times. It comes with a little stir fry noddle concoction in the middle which was also great. We had the cheesecake desert and it was excellent. Our first visit we had an issue where their weekend filet special is "not valid with other offers" meaning the Yelp coupon can't be used; but that wasn't stated anywhere until the check came and we were told no. Fortunately it was written on the menu this time. Oh yeah, one last thing; drinks. Best Long Island in the area for $8; big and strong like it should be. If you like to get your drink on, visit here and have a Long Island. I should find out the bartenders name to ensure you get the same one we keep getting; they can be my Facebook friend. Other than that, there's no house red, so you're looking at about $8/glass as your least expensive option which may mean buying a bottle makes sense depending on how many you'll end up ordering. Liquor-wise, mojitos were so so, and $10/ea. They have a $10 primo margarita that I haven't tried yet but will. read more

We were planning a last minute get together for family before my brother left to move up north. My son called for reservations and they apologized that they had none until 8 PM. That was too late for four old folks and two diabetics. Mark was helping my son, said he'd check after hearing why we wanted their place and call back. In a few minutes he called back to say we could be there at 4:30 when they open but we would have to finish by 6:30. We were fine with that. Next day as we were driving there, Mark called back to say there no need to be out at 6:30 now. The facility is very nicely decorated, quietly upscale and has efficient and knowledgeable staff. The food was delicious and well presented. Our youngest guest was a one year old (last week) and the oldest 87 and we were all pleased. The suggestions for drinks and dishes were on point and not pushy but informative. It was one of the nicest meals I've had and we so appreciate how helpful Mark and the staff were. First time at this restaurant tonight. Really loved everything we ordered. Started off with a crab cake. Good quality crab with just a light breading. The fresh chopped red pepper was a great touch. For our entree, we ordered the wagyu beef medium rare. Tender and and tasty. As a side on this entree, we got the truffle Mac and cheese. It wasn't overly "truffle-y", which seems to always happen when I order something with truffle. I got the chicken and it was scrumptious! For dessert we split a piece of key lime pie. I went to Bascom's for the first time this weekend. The food was all absolutely spectacular. The seafood platter was to die for, the burrata was divine and the steak melted in my mouth. I am a fan of thin steaks and the ribeye was absolutely perfect!!! Everyone was so quiet once our food came out because we were all enjoying everything so much. I enjoyed everything we had and I don't think you can go wrong when ordering, especially the steak. We were there for a private dinner and the room we were in, the "board room" was definitely too small for our size of group. Our waiter constantly bumped into me in my seat throughout the meal. The service was not to the high caliber I was expecting. I had to ask for my water to be refilled and our waiter reached over us and the table often instead of walking around. We recently had the opportunity to eat at Bascom chophouse in Clearwater Florida. We live in Boca Raton and went north to Bellaear, Fl for a short vacation. My husband found Bascom's on the Internet and we took a chance. What a wonderful experience!! The service by our waiter Will was outstanding! He was professional, knowledgeable, and extremely attentive.I ordered a New York strip and my husband ordered the pork chop along with 2 sides and several appetizers. Everything we ate was exceptional. Additionally, we ordered two of the house martinis and then received a complementary martini by the beverage director who gave us a taste of a special martini....he had just introduced onto the menu. 5 star experience every time. Went there just last week for my sister's birthday. Party of 12 - we tried the Tomahawk ribeye, Waygu NY strip, Waygu Ribeye and filet mignon. My two friends and I visited from Ohio and wow! Working in the service industry it's very hard to not look at every detail of how a restaurant runs but the moment the door was held open by a employee , the front desk was extremely friendly and the lobby was clean I was impressed. We had a reservation and waited maybe 4-6 minutes for our table to be sat. When we sat down the host explained all of the menus she was putting down and offered the IPad to check out the cocktails, wine, etc. A servers assistant stopped by with 3 waters and I will add - our waters we're not empty one time. Alyssa greeted our table with the best energy and extreme knowledge of the restaurant history and menu. We ordered 2 filet mignons , 1 half chicken, 2 Caesar salads, asparagus and Gouda Mac & cheese. everything was cooked perfectly . The suggestion of the sherry steak sauce (everyone must try) was great. I have ate at many steak houses and the atmosphere / food was the best I have patronized. After we left my friends couldn't stop talking about the amazing food and experience. I know it's rare that people will write a good review but I think the service that Alyssa gave on Saturday night (11/12/22) was worth the review in itself- we will be back and will be sure to tell everyone about the great food & service we had. I was there for an event with a financial planning company. Catered in one of the upstairs rooms. I made the mistake of ordering their so called chicken Florentine. Well: it was more like dry chicken with limp spinach atop it and a small pool of Hollandaise. My other half had filet mignon, which of course had little flavor as filet often does. Lukewarm garlicky mashed potatoes and undercooked vegetables kind of rounded out what was a totally underwhelming meal served by a totally indifferent waiter.
