I am so disappointed in this Barzola. We always went to the one I. Jackson heights but this one has bad customer service and the humitas ALWAYS come burned and super dry. Also the lunches just tasted bad with undercooked potatoes. We called to ask about a refund for the humita atleaat and the young man there was rude to us and insisted that we wrong and hung up on us. but we are Ecuadorian and we know how the food should taste. read more

We were a party of four. Besides the fact that we had to keep chasing the waiter for service, the end of the meal brought another surprise. An illegal credit card charge was placed on a debit card. This restaurant claims they do it on every card. According to NYC, this is illegal unless it's posted (it's not), and only legal on credit card (I used a debit card). The menu said tip is added to parties of five. We were four, and they added the tip anyway. There is nothing worse than people that try to take advantage. I always tip , and tip well. But this is absurd and unethical. Food was so so, and sitting underneath a hot fan is not good. Don't bother going there. read more

If you have read my reviews, then you know I am always very fair. We decided to try this place and I hate to say it, but what a mistake. Social distancing aside and dining outdoors is something I've learned to adjust to. Here's my experience: After we were seated, the first sign was the ridiculously loud music, don't get me wrong, I'm all for the music but not blaring music like that on a Friday afternoon. I'm addicted to Sangria, so I order Sangria, guess what? They don't have Sangria even though it's on the drink menu. Another bad sign, so water it was. We ordered food I ordered the "Bandeja" which includes beef tripe, goat meat, tuna, and shrimp ceviche and yellow rice. While the presentation looked awesome the temperature of the food could best be described as like warm. I kind of know better than telling a waiter the food is not hot and have them reheat it. Yes we ate the food and I leave it at that. I do know that I will probably not return to this place again. It just wasn't working for them the afternoon we dined there. Would I recommend this place, aesthetically it's pleasing to look at, I just can't say I had anything near a good experience there, so I will let the readers decide, check out the reviews, I'll not comment anymore on this place. read more

Last minute decision to come here and it turned out to be a great decision. Seated right away, servers were beyond attentive. From our initial waiter to everyone else who came in to check in if we need it anything to refilling our waters. Portions are healthy and the prices are not bad. Definitely will comeback. read more

Place is nice! Food taste amazing. The waiter we had was ok. For some reason he treated me and party a little wierd. He was extra friendly to the table behind us maybe because he knew they were Ecuadorian and party was mixed. Anyhow, I order led the bollo de pescado which was really good. Can't really find a good bollo anywhere in NYC. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't come with white rice! Why?! You have Cazuela almost the same and it comes with rice. I had to pay extra for a whole order of rice! What I couldn't also believe that i had to pay extra for curtido de cellbolla y tomate this should also be included with the meal. Even if you bring the price of it by a couple of dollars your not making customer feel like they paying for everything, just me express my self as a paying customer. Incredibly impressed with this place. Their happy hour is definitely one of the best in Astoria. There are weeks where I'm here 2-3x a week and have never had a bad experience. The waiters work hard to make sure everything is perfect and they are so incredibly nice. Definitely a family type atmosphere. Let me not forget- the calamari is beyond amazing and they have a fabulous mojito to go with it! read more

I usually come to this place with my family well NOT ANYMORE, its a shame cuz the food is good but the service staff SUCKS HARD. Not long ago that i came with my family as usual, we waited maybe 20-25 min before i went to the bartender asking for some water or if i could serve my self on some glasses they had on a table but he told me that those glasses were dirty to go to my table and someone will come over so i went back to my table, few minutes later this young "waitress" comes with water in a plastic cup but only one when we are 3 persons on that table so i ask her why she's bringing me water like that? She said "Whats wrong with plastic? i said that i wanted regular glass just like everyone else in the restaurant ,so she went and grabbed one of those dirty glasses and brought me that and the plastic cup and then she said WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? She totally ignore my wife and kid too not to mention that her attitude was so disrespectful. Honestly i don't recommend this place . Save your self a bad experience. read more

We Decided to have dinner with my family this past week. We were super excited to try this place it's been on our list for a bit. We went during the week it wasn't crowded at all. We were party of 2 adults and 3 kids. Decided to try a variety of appetizers to see which one was our favorite. I asked the waiter if they had any vegan friendly options for appetizers or could accommodate. He gave me various options with cheese. We informed him that my daughter has a dairy allergy and if they have any other options that we can change to make it safe for her to eat. I understand everyone is not aware of what is vegan. So I looked over the menu and saw that guacamole with tostones was the only vegan options. The waiter stated everything mostly have milk or cheese he was going to ask. Continue to order about 5 appetizers and 2 cocktails and 3 other drinks. We waited on the waiter to return and not much option were given. So we decided to order our main course and see what else was available for my daughter to have that that didn't contain any dairy or cow products. My daughter wanted arroz chaufa, essentially fried rice with a protein. She only wanted the chaufa plain no extra protein. He said he was not able to accommodate without cow products and only offered her a grilled chicken or shrimp. This made us very upset they couldn't accommodate a simple dish like fried rice with the basic ingredients they have in the kitchen.
