Stopped by Baru by chance last night due to unforeseen events at the place next door to it. The bar area was pretty empty around 10:30 pm..I asked both bartenders if the place would get busy later and they said yes. They were right and in fact I believe they were charging a cover at the door must've been after 11 pm. The pro's: Great place Live DJ Awesome lighting Very spacious Friendly service The con's: No bar stools; definitely need to invest in bar stools. No inside seating unless for bottle service Music they ONLY played salsa, Cumbia, not a lot of variety..not even Pittbull! Didn't hear much Reggaton either... Baru, please invest in bar stools were we can sit between dancing and drinking. You have a lot of bar space to get more seating. We did hang out at the bar outdoors. Met some great girls that let us sit with them at their high table! Thank God for that, otherwise we would've left sooner. I was wearing like 6 inch heels and needed to rest after dancing for a while. Maybe next time I'll come to watch a sports event and sit at the outdoor tables. But other than that I wouldn't go to stand all night. The outdoor seating is very limited as well so chances of getting a table are slim. I did not try the food but saw people eating chicken wings. It's on a strip mall so you can expect strip mall parking. It is a busy strip mall at night so parking can be a hassle but we were patient enough to wait and found a spot nearby. Second time in Baru, went during a weekday because it was open late and near where I was. The first time I went I remember they had good music, and this second time was not the exception. DJ was receptive to requests, which kept the energy fun. I ordered a mojito with no alcohol, it was refreshing, though priced as if it had included alcohol. I went for happy hour as stated on social media and when we arrived we were told not applicable because it was a special event that our Company paid to have but they decided not to disclose that the Happy hour menu was not going to be applicable. When we arrived the place just had a handful of tables with customers and immediately I realized we were going to be in for a not so great experience ... 3 different people came to our table to take orders for drinks and food ... This is a fun bar in Doral, depending on the night you go and who you go with. Why you would ask, because it's typically an older crowd (40-50s). I would categorize Baru under a tourist trap, only because of how expensive your bill can be once you leave their establishment. First, they have a $20 cover after like 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Yes, you can use the credit. But in an specific way/order. So if you're a non drinker. You're screwed. Then, I came over with my friends last night for a bite and music. Ordered a picada, which is a delicious tray of potatoes or french fries and different meats. It was good. But $50 for a tray that would only feed 2. We thought it was a bit much. As they are usually bigger on most places. That wasn't the worst part. Before we left, we ordered water. That I'm pretty sure that is probably tap water. And the waiter said no, because we were no longer consuming. And I had already told her at least twice that we were going to be leaving early so she could sell her table eventually for a $300 bottle, which is what they were pushing for since we arrived ( at least twice). So in other words, unless you're in for a fun night with your friends and don't care to spend a pretty penny. Then be my guest. Otherwise, there are other bars in Mia where you will have a great time and pay a bit less. Specially for food. Drinks I get it's how bars make money. Complete rip-off, Scam. Will never go again. Was there before quarantine, I thought it was a good place to take my date. Got surprised at the door with a new $20 per head entrance fee, CASH Only. Unless you're an elderly couple who still uses dollar bills, you have to use the in-house ATM which charges $7. So you're already $50 in, and you have not even had one of their overpriced drinks yet. Honestly, if I wasn't with my date that night, I would have told them to flip off, and gone somewhere else. Baru is nothing special. A below average sports bar. The floors are sticky and have weird holes, so it's hard for girls to dance with heels. The music is a copy-paste selection of songs that could be compiled by a monkey with an MP3 player on shuffle. This place is an obvious scam. An average sports bar trying to pass itself off as a nightclub. They want to make sure they can rip you off for as much as possible the first time, because I sure as hell will never go to this place again or recommend. Wish I could give a negative score. Came here to celebrate my mother in law's birthday. Over the phone they gave us a different price than when we were there. We were told the Buchanan bottles were $100 each and a free champagne bottle for the birthday person with a purchase of a bottle. However when we arrived they wanted to charge us more for a bottle. Luckily we spoke to the manager and we were given the phone price for the bottles so we went and bought three Buchanan's bottles. After a while we asked for the free champagne and our service girl was hesitant to give it to us because we already had a deal with the bottles. We reminded her that those prices were given to us over the phone before we arrived and we didn't buy just one bottle, we bought three! So she spoke to the manager and we were able to get the free champagne to toast midnight with the cake. Now the food, can you believe a picada was close to $50?!?! And I'm talking about a regular picada with fries and stuff. That price was ridiculously expensive!! We also ordered tequeños de plátano maduro and those were good. The price was about $12/$13 for 5. We ordered five mini arepas and in total for three dishes, we spent another $100 dollars. Too expensive if you ask me so grab something to eat before. The music was okay. We were the only ones inside so it felt like the party was only for us (a group of 12). Most of the customers were in the patio having drinks. However, because of that, it seemed like we were listening to a CD. I don't know who the merengue singer was but we heard his songs back to back. At one point we told the gentleman that would go to the DJ booth every now and then to please change it and it was much better after that. The staff was very nice and friendly. I went here for a farewell to one of my coworkers. A group of us went to happy hour on a Friday after work. You can't beat Half off drinks and appetizers. The drinks were ok but for $6 you really can't complain, they get the job done lol. Service was good and the appetizers we tried were tasty as well. I like that this is in plaza so free parking is available. There is an indoor area and outdoor patio area to choose from. The DJ played a mix of Latin upbeat music but barely any bachata (which is my fav) womp womp. Overall, if you're in the area and want to grab a few drinks and bites, I'd recommend it. Tried this place for the first time on a Saturday night. We arrived after 11:00 PM and were told that the cover fee was $20 for each (men and women) which could be used to consume items at the bar except for the tips and taxes which had to be paid in cash or credit, we agreed to it because it sounds somewhat reasonable. After entering and spending more than 2 1/2 hours at the place I found the music to be not varied enough. Most of it consisted of 30+ years old merengue and salsa mixed with contemporaneous regueton and techno. I am neither young nor old but considered the music very dated. Having taken recent salsa and bachata classes I was excited to try my moves and approached the DJ to request a bachata song to which he said "no" and denied by waiving his head from side to side. I imagine they are targeting the Doral customers but I lived in Doral for over 12 years and consider the music of this place to be lacking a lot of what the intended audience of the area enjoys. Needless to say I will not be returning. EDITED: after posting I realized I did not mention other things. PARKING: plenty and free. RESTROOMS: WTH happened here?. I went to a happy hour with my work colleges on a Friday. When we arrived, there were not so many people because it was early but after 6:30 pm it started getting packed. We ordered a bandeja to share and I had the piña colada without alcohol since I don't drink, it was really good. They had live music, the lady singing had an amazing voice. SCAM ALLERT!!!! SCAM ALLERT!!! Our bill was over $450 WITH TIP INCLUDED!! Which even though it was expensive, it added up. Then the waitress said that the included tip (18%) was all going to the bar. Then she asked if I could give her her tip in cash. Per my request, she charged my card on file for my part of the bill and then separately for the remainder because at that point and after she charged it, she said the bill couldn't be split. The manager then came back and said that because it was charged twice, the bank would flag it as fraud. They were going to refund the card and needed a new one. So they charged my new card with the full amount with the tip included. They also refunded my other card, but they did not refund the full amount. They kept the tip. So they charged the tip twice. THAT IS WERE THE SCAM WAS! I am reporting this as credit card fraud and WILL PRESS CHARGES!! read more

SCAM BEWARE!! Stay away. Went with a group of 6 for a night out and from the get-go had a bad experience. To start, we were obligated to purchase a bottle or we had to leave. Her phone was missing when we came back. We start panicking and after calling it a few times, the manger answered and had it in the office. I stepped outside as one of the staff was going to meet me and return the phone. Great. He starts explaining HOW LUCKY we are that he found her phone "on the floor" and picked it up. He asked me for $50 THREE TIMES for finding the phone and calling me "huevon." The bouncer asked me to move out of the door because there was a line, so I just went back in. I honestly wouldn't doubt if he had just picked up the phone - right off of the table CHECK YOUR TABS! Time to pay. We each had separate tabs. On my tab, should've only been the bottle. She gave me the check and had the bottle, 2 margaritas and a whiskey. My friend had ordered the 2 margs but she paid it in her tab. After 30 mins of arguing back and worth with our waitress and manager, they only removed the whiskey - which no one at our table ordered. God knows how many people they do this to on a daily basis. Really nice spot for a Friday night! Went here for a friend's birthday! The bathrooms are disgusting! They really need to change their sanitary holders! It's smells horrible! The drinks are kinda expensive!! I asked for a lemon drop shot and was served tequila. The music/DJ was pretty awesome! We danced pretty much all night! There was also a live band! Doral has limited options when it comes to nightlife. You really need to be feeling the latin vibes to enjoy it here - especially when they charge a $20 cover for both guys and ladies - which they sell you by saying it's "consumable" and gives you Monopoly money equivalent to spend at the bar. What they fail to mention is that you can only use $10 of that Monopoly money per round so you end up paying for drinks in the long run because you don't to leave with that absurd Monopoly cash in your pocket. It's like leaving an arcade with tokens. Anywho, the band that was there was good. The service was okay. I couldn't enjoy the atmosphere and music because the bartenders kept trying to scam a few bucks from me at each round of drinks ( i was paying cash) and they wouldn't give me a receipt! They were telling me I owed $8.00 (after drink tickets) for 2 Aguilas. I asked for a receipt but they kept saying I owed $8. Finally I got my receipt and I only owed $4.36. They did this EVERYTIME I ordered a round of drinks. Then on the finals round they shorted me a lot and wouldn't give me a receipt! I paid with a $20 and got back $13 instead of $16. So i asked for the manager. When he got me the receipt he started with, "Baby..". I told him not to call me baby and the did the math with him and showed him my change (i was right). He then started with, "Baby..let me explain.." I told him to stop calling me baby and he smiled and kept doing it just to mess with me. Then i told him that non of the bartenders speak English and while I do speak Spanish fluently, i naturally revert to English when i have to explain something. He then looked at the security guard and said (in Spanish) "sorry i don't understand her" just to mess with me and then everyone at the front starting to say that they don't speak English. Then I called the office the next morning and explain everything to the lady and she was giving me the run around and trying to tell me I was wrong. I told her I have a receipt to prove it. She said all the Baru locations work the same, they dont give receipts. Then I told her that the manager kept calling me baby. She said, oh that's fine that's just how we talk. I told her it was inappropriate. Then I told her how everyone starting pretending they don't speak English. She couldn't explain her way out of that one. I told her I want to speak with the owner about this stealing thats happening. She said he was out of the country and then hung up. So between the fighting for a receipt at every round of drinks, getting short changed at each Round plus the bartenders telling me what i owed without a receipt (which was more than i owed), the manager calling me "baby" and then everyone pretending they dont speak English + ALL THE MEN IN THE BAR WERE 40+YEARS OLD. Baru Urbano is near the Florida Turnpike (west Doral/41st Street). There's plenty of parking within the shopping center where Baru is located. The beers are cold and the bartenders are beautiful. You can rent a hookah and they constantly light up fresh coals for you so you can enjoy your bowl of shisha to the fullest. There's plenty of security around the club which makes the place feel safe. The bathrooms are clean (bathroom attendant available at all times; guys please tip these folks...they deserve it). The music is awesome/loud. The place is open (there's like a huge terrace towards the front but the majority of the indoor space in air conditioned and feels cool). The lighting system is pretty cool. Overall beautiful people the night I visited. We all really enjoyed this venue and had a great time. read more
