It is a good place to learn how to be a bartender, I went a few years ago and got certified. The teachers are really neat. The test was a little hard but I passed. The one thing I did not like is the guy who runs it, Steve. He seems nice at first but once you get there he acts like a jerk. He will ask a question and when you answer he interrupts you midsentence and constantly talks down to you in front of everyone!!! He is nice over the phone and I noticed he uses the exact same words when he recruits people, like verbatim. I also noticed that he is super nice to the attractive girls who take classes, if you are male he treats you very differently. I also saw him be super rude to this asian couple who were taking a class once, he literally said to their faces "Remember we speak English in these classes" like WTF. Steve and Laurissa have been very helpful, and the curricula is very extensive. I recently moved to San Diego, and the things I've learned at PBSA have been very helpful in making connections with the bar managers out here. Steve does talk a bit fast, but you just got to keep up, because he won't waste your time. Just don't waste his, or anyone else's, and you'll all be set. Honestly, attending a bartending school is a fun idea in theory, and may help you to learn the basics, but if you are going to do it, take your business somewhere else. The instructors here are great and very helpful but the manager, Steve is simply terrible. So unorganized, not the least bit helpful and couldn't care less about your business once he gets your money. It takes a ridiculous amount of calling and going in to the place after you are done with classes to get your certificate and even then, he will tell you to come back another day. Don't be fooled, Steve is the definition of a salesman and will promise job opportunities and make it sound great, but once he has your money, the sales pitch is over and his job is done as far as he is concerned. The only reason I even gave two stars was because of the great instructors. If I could have done this without dealing with Steve, it would have been five stars easily. read more

The teacher was great learned a lot of great information. However, it's a complete scam. They said they find you jobs after and they never did, I even called and asked he said he was getting my resume out to jobs and I never once got a call so who knows if he even sent out my resumes. And the certificate for completing the school was supposed to help me get hired on to a bartender right away and not one job has let me do that they all say you have to start out as a server. waste of my money and time for nothing to be accomplished from the class. First off I was skeptical about taking this course because bottom line it has been the norm at a lot of places you have to work your way up in the industry to become a bartender however to me that doesn't make sense because as a server you don't know how to make the drinks this course teaches you. I feel like this course gave me the basics of bartending and the confidence that I needed to put myself out there. It paid off ....I got a job as bartender!! It took about 3 weeks after graduation but it was July which is one of the hardest months to find a job in the bartending industry in my opinion. As you all know July is slow because it is so hot! I would definitely recommend this school! In just 4 days of working(some slow nights) I already made back my money that I paid for this training! I think it is worth it!! When I signed up for the school, I became pregnant and other obligations. His money grubbing ass only cares about his money which HE will have to pay more then 330 to get out of. He is a pushy salesman who claims he's not when really he is! He will not let you get a word in and has the nerve to say, "you're not listening to me" when I can barely get a word in with this guy. Its ok tho because the next time I see him, it wil be in court and I offered him to accept what he already got from me and tear up the contract but he refuses and thats ok. I know a way to shut his greedy ass up! Please dont do business here because they aren't looking out for your best interest, they just want your money. I took a a leap of faith by quitting my job to attend this academy full time. I have always been interested in Bartending so I decided to spend my last paycheck to pay for it because I knew that in no time I could make it back and I was investing in a future that I knew was guaranteed. I say it was was guaranteed because I knew that all I had to to was put in 100% effort and time into studying, practicing, memorizing, and repeat. It's only a scam when you pay for something and expect magic to help you graduate, a scam to yourself. Now, putting in the effort and practicing and memorizing could only get me so far unless I had great teachers and mentors and that's exactly what I got! All of the instructors are so experienced in their craft almost to a perfection. They will settle for nothing but the best of knowledge they can provide to you in order to become not just good bartenders but "GREAT" bartenders. It's all hands on training and you learn a little over 150 drinks. From your cream drinks to tall drinks to martinis and margaritas you will learn how to properly pour your drinks and how to use every tool you need as a bartender. The only thing that makes this better is that you become a lifetime member and can retake any class over and over with no charge. After about two weeks and a half I graduated and Steve wasted no time in helping me throughout this whole process from literally making a resume for me and telling me how to dress for my interview and how to put on the classic Steve charm to get the job. Today I am a bartender at the Hilton Hotel making more than I did at my previous job just two and a half weeks after quitting to become a bartender. All because I decided to take a risk and put in 100% effort into this school and trusting that I get the best education possible. Meant to review this place for a while...Do they teach you how to bartend? yes. Do they help you get a job? No. If you don't have a job oppurtunity in mind to bartend then stay away. They will rip you off. I paid the $100 deposit and then could not make the class, contacted them and they let me know the $100 was gone. Not a big deal, I knew it was nonrefundable but then 4 years later go to pull my credit and they slapped a claim for the rest of the money for the class. I don't even know how that's legal. I would not spend my money here. I was looking for a bartending school and it was between Bartending Academy and ABC bartending. When I called this place, right off the bat Steve was rude and pushy. It's clear that all he wants is your money. When I went on the Better Business Bureau website and saw that this place isn't even registered while ABC bartending has an A+, that was the deciding factor for me. And believe me, I'm so glad I went with ABC. Steve never stopped sending me emails and calling me. I picked up today not realizing it was him and Steve lost it when I let him know I had gone somewhere else due to him not being registered with the BBB and terrible online reviews. He went off saying he doesn't know what I'm looking at because he has amazing reviews and then proceeded to say that everyone who put a bad review up against him was paid to do it! He wouldn't let me get a word in while he went on about how he's shocked and how he doesn't understand why I would go anywhere but his academy. I've only done one weekend at ABC and I love it. It's a professional and friendly environment where they teach not only drinks but also general alcohol knowledge, bartending tips like flair tricks and garnishes, etc. The materials they give you are informative and include basically an entire book of recipes that we practice. I haven't finished so I can't say much about job placement yet but one girl in my class got a job before she even finished because the boss had supposedly heard of ABC.
