Not gonna lie, my expectations were low. It's a chain and I try to go to non-chain when I travel, but it was dark out (meaning it was like 6pm) and it was right next to our hotel, and dinner was needed. I will say every time we passed during our trip, it was packed, so that was a good sign. We ordered this to go. I stayed really simple and on the lighter side because all we did in Boston is eat and drink delicious (and heavy) food, so I did the kids chicken quesadilla and the chicken tortilla soup. I was shocked how much flavor the soup had - good heat, not too thick, and with the chips on the side it had a satisfying crunch. I ordered a side of avocado to go on top of my quesadilla and it was also enjoyable. Good char marks on the quesadilla, good amount of cheese and chicken, and the avocado on top was a delight. Overall, if we stay in this area again, I would go in for happy hour and try the margs and have a snack. It was an elevated quick service Mexican spot with decent pricing and good portions so I'll take it for a convenient bite while I'm in the area for sure. read more

This used to be our go-to taco option for the longest time but the last 2 times we visited (dinner times) during the summer, it wasn't as great as it used to be. Atmosphere 4/5 - Depending on the time of day/night, can be very loud and not the best option for children. Plenty of seating but highly recommend jumping on the waitlist. Food/Drinks 3/5 - We had a variety of tacos (fish, duck, pork belly, shrimp) but not one jumps out as a must get. Duck doesn't seem common in other taco places so perhaps that's one to try. Cocktails were good but nothing too special or must get. Highly recommend their street corn and the roasted chicken off of the kids menu. it was a Saturday afternoon about 415. our whole experience wasn't bad but we were large group and that's always difficult. Food was good .that's where the positivity ends Took 55 minutes to get our margaritas, which were the highlight in all honesty(the spicy was exceptional) Service was poor both at the bar where we couldn't seem to get anybody's attention to get a drink and were consistently passed over. But the reason we're bothering to even leave a review is that the ordering of the food and the delivery the food was totally f'd up. We filled out a form,put our names and then everything came out haphazardly. it was a total mess. Management please take note. Another great visit to Bartaco in the Seaport. This is one of my favorite restaurants to visit when I'm in Boston. The manager, Connor, is always so friendly and you can tell he really cares about the guests and staff experience. Our bartender, Ethan, was amazing as well and made some delicious drinks. First time here, 2 o'clock lunch. It was loud, but not that crowded. The menu is broad, everyone should be able to find something that makes them happy. I liked everything I got, including the guacamole, uyster taco, and tuna poke. My deduction of 1 star for the self ordering. I don't go to restaurants to be looking at my phone. It took both of us a couple of tries to get in to place our orders and enter credit card. The app added an 18% tip automatically when I checked out. It's clear you could get human help if needed by lifting a sign at your table; just be aware techno-phobes. read more

Bartaco seaport is the best place in the neighborhood for a sit down bite or takeout with great food for a great price. Bartaco is open for your late night taco cravings. It's a clean fusion of flavors with friendly service. You order from the QR code and they say that you should do 4-5 tacos to fill up since they're small (street tacos) and pace yourself. I ordered 3 with a small kale Caesar salad and it was the perfect amount for me. - Baja Fish Taco: A small piece of fish with good flavor and a bit crunchy. The slaw and taste was similar to good fish tacos in LA. - Glazed Pork Belly: Sweet caramelized sauce, slightly crisp ends, and sure to hit your pork belly craving. It pairs well with their rojo sauce. Highly recommend getting this one if you're a pork belly fan. - Duck - Tangy a bit dry with a slight bit of grease. It was ok overall. I believe I ordered the wrong thing and should have actually ordered the Duck Birria. Next time, I guess! - Kale Caesar Salad - Excellent, refreshing and had a tang to it. The crumbled croutons provided a nice complimentary texture. I contemplated going back to bartaco the next day to try more fillings like the squash blossom which had run out by the time I had arrived. We love bartaco, and are still sad that the one in Birmingham closed, so when we saw that there was one nearby where we were staying, we knew we had to stop in one night! We did have to sit and wait and for close to 30 minutes as there was a long wait for a table, and no seats at the bar either, but we soldiered on, knowing it would be worth the wait. We started out with the duck quesadilla and the ceviche as appetizers, both of which had more heat than expected, but were otherwise great. We then had multiple tacos a piece. Each of the tacos are smaller than your hand, which is why they recommend getting 3-5 per person. We don't mind - it lets you sample lots of the different great tacos they have. We then ended the night with their churros, a favorite dessert. This location went a little light on the chocolate sauce and added a vanilla sauce as another dipping option. The vanilla was ok, but I think we both would have preferred to have just more chocolate sauce and not have to worry about running out! Thanks for having us bartaco. Always a great place for a night out with friends. The tacos you MUST ALWAYS GET: Glazed Pork Belly & Baja Fish. These two tacos are consistently bomb. The taco that was surprisingly disappointing was the Ribeye. It had so much potential but ended up being like dry bulgogi. Small Guacamole and Chips - guacamole was really good but there wasn't really enough for all the chips. Street corn - super flavorful and the corn was sweet. Plantains - the plantains were super sweet. I thought they were supposed to be tossed in salt and cayenne pepper but I didn't really get any of that. The dipping sauce it came with helped balance the sweetness a little. Tacos - the pork belly and mushroom tacos were the one to get. The sesame ribeye taco lacked flavor and was very dry. Came here on a Tuesday evening around 5:30pm and while we were allowed to sit at one of the tables that allowed you to get drinks and chips/guac, we ended up having to wait around 20 minutes for a table for 7. I'd suggest getting here pretty early if coming after work on a weekday if you don't want to wait, especially since they don't take reservations! The online ordering system they have is decent, but ultimately full of bugs and a little confusing. One of our party didn't have their order go through, leading us to wait so much longer for those tacos to come out since we had to submit it twice. I also wish that if we're allowed to place orders as individuals, they would give it to us on separate plates rather than all at once -- in a COVID world, having it served on the same plate isn't the most sanitary as we're all touching each other's food to get to our own. The service was nice, but our server kept calling us 'guys' (mix of folks who identify as he/him and she/her) which one of our party pointed out over and over, but he didn't realize the misgendering was bothering her. It ultimately didn't leave a great impression and soured the rest of the experience. Overall, the taste of the tacos at the very least was pretty good. I had 4 tacos and was pretty full afterwards so I think 3-5 would suit most people! I had the fish, chicken, duck, and pork belly -- the latter was most definitely my favorite. The amount of meat and the flavor/texture was fantastic. The fish was a close second, but honestly, I'd order any of those again! In the end, I find Bartaco a decent spot foodwise, but the service and ordering experience was pretty disappointing. I wouldn't come here again if it was my choice, but I encourage people to try it at least once to gage their own expectations and form their own opinions. read more

Bartaco is located in a really nice area in Downtown Boston. Compared to the other eateries around the block, this was by far the most affordable. The quality of the drinks and food were great--I tried 6 different tacos, their chips and guacamole, street corn, and duck quesadillas. The duck didn't really taste like duck, but it was still good. Their drinks were also great. We were on the waitlist for about 90 minutes, so make sure to check in early then walk around the area. There's a really nice waterfront across the place, so there's plenty to do to kill time. Definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

Crispy fish with toppings that cut against the deep fried flavors. The fish was still the star of the taco tho! Pork belly: overhyped! Pork belly was too dry and not seasoned enough. We had a wonderful experience this weekend! Our son has a number of severe allergies, so it's rare that he gets to eat safely at a restaurant. Sam, the manager, patiently answered all of my questions and explained their thorough allergy protocols when I called a few days beforehand. Our server, Jenny, went through the whole menu and cross referenced the allergies with all the ingredients to mark all the things he could and could not have. Sam also checked in throughout our time there to make sure everything was safe. The food was delicious and fresh! We thoroughly enjoyed the salsa & chips, pork belly crispy rice bowls, beans, and the tacos. The pork belly crispy rice was probably our favorite. Very flavorful and texturally exciting! We are so grateful to Sam, Jenny, and the rest of the staff for welcoming us and for being so accommodating. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area again. read more

Had a great time last night with family, here . The place is vibrant and fun and food is delicious. Does not take reservations but you can add your name online as you travel to this location and check the wait status. There is no paper menu, rather you need to scan the barcode and it opens an app' from which you can open a tab and keep ordering till you are ready to close your tab! Pretty cool and does not depend on a server to come by to take orders as and when you want to order more . Food was great as was the service which was super quick with every order we made ! Delicious margaritas and tacos, freshly made sauces and dips and really yummy churros and tres leches for dessert !! Greg, who is one of the managers, was awesome and super friendly. EXTREMELY CUTE taco bar that I imagine could work for ANY kind of occasion- friends, dates, birthdays etc. It has a very fun atmosphere to it. Casual and sort of loud FYI. Seats around the bar are plenty and fantastic! We tried a couple of sodas and tacos (all seafood types).. and sure you'd think the taco prices ($4-5) are quite reasonable... until you see that they are literally the size of maybe a credit card. See the photo I attached. The rim of a glass is basically the side of one taco. So order at least 5 or 10 if you actually plan on feeling full. Anyway, they were good, nothing super memorable but well seasoned and not too salty which was great. If I didnt live a little far from Seaport, I would totally make more of an effort to come here! I'm always about trying new places, but this place seems like its worth visiting at least once. I don't believe they take RSVP- but they do send you a text once you put your name in the queue. My friends and I stopped by this place for a late lunch and drinks, and we were pleasantly surprised by how good everything was! The ambiance is lively, and the staff is very friendly and energetic. Our waiter told us they have the best margaritas because the limes are freshly squeezed, so we couldn't pass them up! He was right--the margarita was super fresh, light, and tasty. In addition to the drink, I ordered the chile-lime shrimp, spiced chile verde, baja fish, and sesame ribeye tacos. All the tacos were really good, but my favorite might have been the baja fish. Bartacos is an unique experience of eating Mexican food! Firstly, their ordering system is pretty cool - everything happens over the app. We found it convenient. Service was quick and drinks they served were epic! We loved the finger licking great tacos! I would return here anytime for the chorizo! One small concern I found was the lack of fajita - not sure why they did not include in the menu. Other than that, seating was amazing and ambiance was noisy but great! I could have sworn I wrote a review for Bartaco before! Summary of first review since my memory is great with food more than anything. My husband and I were having mini vacation in Seaport for our anniversary in April. We were walking around the area in search of food and stumbled upon this restaurant. It was PACKED. The most important taco you need know about here that you can't (at least as far as I know) find anywhere else are the pork belly tacos. SOO O O O GOOD. Went here for dinner. Tacos were overall okay, nothing particularly special in our opinion. Our tacos were cold when we got them. Some of them seemed to skimp on the toppings, especially the duck taco where there were just a couple tiny pieces of onion. The guacamole was nice and had a strong lime flavor. I would have liked to see more hand sanitizer around, since a lot of what people order here is finger food. I also thought it would have been nice if on the order interface the names of the items actually had descriptions of what would be in the tacos, drinks, etc. like there is on their actual website. Thank you to the manager, Greg. He acknowledged the neglect and unreasonable long waits that my table had. We had an awful experience with long waits, multiple missing items from orders, and poor service. The food was great, but the experience ruined the meal overall. Bar Taco was a staple restaurant for me over the past few years as I always take friends visiting from out of town to this restaurant. After this experience, it is unlikely I'll come visit on my own accord. Super bummed! read more

A friend treated me to a birthday lunch, and I ordered three tacos (chicken, shrimp and fish), the fried plantains and the pomegranate lemonade. I was very happy with the portions. You will need to order at least three tacos. The tacos are fairly small, but pack intense flavor. The fried plantains were really sweet (how I like them), slightly crispy and speckled with a little cayenne. I enjoyed this meal and will be back. read more

Visited bar taco with two friends this past Saturday night. We put our name on the waitlist online prior to arriving with about a 20 minute window. Upon arrival we were told there was still a 1-1.5 hour wait. The place was packed to a brim and the ambiance was loud as expected for a weekend. We managed to steal a spot at the bar and had Stanley as our bartender. He did well with our spicy margs. No complaints there. As far as our actual wait time, it was more than an hour and a half. Once seated you find out this place doesn't really appreciate cash payment. You're supposed to put your order in ONLINE with a credit card. Therefore negating most of the waitresses job. So weird. The tacos SUCKED honestly we tried about 6 different tacos they were all "edible" but I would never want the taste in my mouth again. We were told the best one was definitely the pork belly. Personally I'd say it was the WORST. The pork belly was hard and chewy/ super super dry. The amount of sodium I must've consumed (my own fault here ) resulted in a severe bloat of even my little digits. Yeah my fingers !! I could barely remove my rings the next morning lol. The food was so awful it made me wicked sad. I have not one compliment to the chef and I can't believe anyone would ever want to come back here if this is what they are serving up. Also idk who's idea it was to serve massive chips you're expected to break up on your own, but that was a silly idea.
