I'm embarrassed to say how many times I've been to Bartaco in the last six months. It has seriously become my absolutely favorite place to eat now that I've moved to this area. First off I love their ordering system. You scan a QR code at your table, order online, pay online, and then your food comes out so quick! You can even keep the tab open and keep ordering tacos if you're planning to try a couple. We always start with a margarita, and the chips, salsa, and guacamole. So delicious! I've also tried the fried plantains and they're a favorite as well. As for the tacos I love the cauliflower taco and mushroom taco. My boyfriend has tried probably every meat/fish taco on the menu and can't pick a favorite because they're all so delicious. This is our go to spot for delicious food and drinks! read more

This place did NOT live up to our expectations! Let's start with the NO MENUS where they make you scan a QR code so they can tag your phone and force you to fill out personal information like your credit card before you can order food. So it's a chore just to order food, they make you do all the work, and the server is nowhere to be found when we have questions. OMG, am I at Panera?? Is this 2020?? It was so inconvenient because the server doesn't want to talk to us except to smile and let us know they have no menus. We ordered chips and salsa and big tortillas are delivered where you have to break it up with your hands. The menu clearly says "chips" and the waitress just smiled and said it's not a Mexican restaurant. We ordered tacos and these tiny finger foods of very small portions showed up with no vegetables. We had 4 people at our time and they never brought any plates for us. The waitress just smiled and said it's like street food. We were so annoyed with the lack of service and not getting what we thought we were ordering. We decide to leave and finally, the manager comes over. He makes excuses for the QR code and mansplains it's more like tapas. OMG!!! The title of the restaurant says Bar TACOS. He tried to offer us more food because he didn't want us to leave hungry. No thanks, this place is one frustration after another and maybe we would've stayed had he come to our table earlier. Stupid QR code where they make it hard to order, lack of customer service, trying to gaslight us by telling us it's more like tapas when the title of the restaurant clearly says tacos. read more

Pre-COVID, we loved Bartaco. So it was nice to make plans to return this week with family. To our dismay, some changes had been made that left our positive prior experiences in the past. First, the menu, ordering and payment are all done via the mobile device now. While I'm a fan of digital integration, what this actual translates to is less human attention by staff. And while food service was quick, that's really the only time you'll interact with staff. A full service restaurant has become some sort of quick service restaurant. That said, food service was speedy and what limited interaction we did have with staff was very pleasant, as it always has been. Now onto the food - something in their recipes changed where nearly the entire menu is spicy. While this doesn't bother me, not being able to customize spiciness or having to "sauce on the side" 90% of the menu (including guac) is inconvenient. Cool restaurant with a great atmosphere. Reminded me of saltwater cowboys in St Augustine. Ordered 5 tacos, they came more than half hour later at 2pm on a Sunday. It wasn't that crowded, so we were surprised by the wait. But at least it's a nice spot, so I didn't mind waiting. Especially with the nice cool temperature they keep the restaurant. Chicken chorizo came back cold, while other items on the same plate were warm. They like to plate the whole order on one plate, so we wondered if that was why we received room temperature food. Pork belly taco was so good, I definitely recommend it. The portion was good as well. At least on the first one. The next 2 were a much smaller portion. Waiter advised they had no chicken pastor, Al my usual go to, but they had none. It was disappointing. Here's a pro tip, order the street corn fritter and shove it in other tacos. Second round took 30 minutes, it was supposed to be faster. I guess it was slightly faster, but still much longer than we hoped. Second round also had smaller portions, and the first young was not big to begin with. Once again a mixed bag as far as whether the tacos were hot or room temperature. Rock shrimp tastesd gross to me, I couldn't eat them. It made me wonder if they have seafood deliveries on Sunday. I know Hillstone doesn't serve fish on Sunday because they don't get a delivery that day. Steak tacos were overcooked but tasty. At least they didn't taste rancid like the shrimp. But they were nonetheless disappointing. I would not come back. I was disappointed that we had such a poor experience. My guess is that they had an off day. Great place to hang out with some delicious tacos! The Food: 4 out of 5 Most of the tacos were really tasty, especially the pork belly one. The tacos are relatively small, so make sure to order at least 4 per person to get your fill. It also took a while for the tacos to come out. My Recommendations: 1. Pork Belly tacos 2. Carne Asada tacos 3. Roasted Duck tacos 4. Swordfish tacos 5. Rock Shrimp tacos The Service: 5 out of 5 The waitress that we had was super nice and she kept on checking up on us. Bartaco was one of the most memorable restaurants during out Orlando trip. What really stood out was the unique cozy interior, awesome selection of Mexican food, and an amazing trio of hot sauces served at the table. The interior was beautifully crafted with purchasable merchandise at the front, green hanging plants above, and giant ceiling fans giving off an cool island vibe. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Some notable dishes: - Duck QUESADILLA: 5/5 YOU MUST GET IT. Duck with a savory blend of cheeses wedged between two blue corn tortillas was incredible. There was so much flavor and fattiness from the duck. It was a bit greasy but it was surely a winner. - Duck taco: 4/5 Similar taste to the quesadilla but without the cheese. The meat was very tender and paired well with the habanero hot sauce at the table. - Churros: 5/5 Warm crispy churros served in a cute camper mug and a side of rich chocolate sauce. The churros tasted so fresh and doughy. I actually preferred it without the sauce to truly appreciate the cinnamon sugary goodness. The service was excellent. Bartaco has some awesome staff that check on you frequently and made sure everything was enjoyable. The ordering process was pretty simple with an a la carte style menu where you can write the quantity of everything you order. Be careful- we wanted to order everything on the menu too. We order 9 dishes for the two of us and it came out to be more than enough food. We were stuffed to the brim and the total came out to be $40. The prices are very reasonable with individual tacos costing $2.50 or so. Specialty tacos cost about $1 extra. Each taco was pretty big so do plan accordingly if you'd like to save room for dessert! The only downside was that the tacos didn't come with any chips or sides- not a deal breaker though. Bartaco offers their specialty hot sauces: habenero, jalapeno, roja. My personal favorite was the habenero. The hot sauce definitely builds in heat so don't add too much at first. The flavor is spot on though, not too bitter or sour. Try it if you love hot sauce! I recommend giving Bartaco a chance if you like Mexican food with a unique twist! read more

Either way, the tacos are good but wife and I agree that the Reviver is one of the best drinks out. Like seriously good. As for the tacos, I'm not a huge taco person, but they are good. Bartaco is located in Dr. Phillips in the Publix shopping plaza along with Morton's. I arrived around 11:30am on a Wednesday. I was able to find parking but the shopping plaza is busy and parking could easily be hard to find nearby. They do have hand sanitizer available right when you walk in and social distancing stickers to help while you wait to be seated. I choose to eat outside. They have a large outdoor dining area with social distanced tables. You scan a QR code to get the menu. Lots of options to pick from! I chose three tacos: #bartacosecret chili-lime shrimp taco - "spicy and tangy chile-lime marinated shrimp resting on a crisp and bright vegetable escabeche and finished with a zesty pepita salsa macha," the glazed pork belly - "braised pork belly caramelized in a sweet arbol chile glaze, topped with cilantro and pickled red onions contains: garlic, onion, refined sugar" and the spiced chicken verde -"chicken in chile and herb marinade topped with aguacate salsa contains: garlic + onion." All were tasty (although small - keep in mind they are street tacos) but the glazed pork belly was hands down my favorite! I also ordered "the old tymer" cocktail. Our best dining experience so far since beginning to cautiously venture out of our Covid bubble. I've been here a couple other times, and the only thing that prevents me from eating here all the time is my aversion to I4 traffic. They have a lovely outdoor seating section, and have adopted several new safety guidelines, yet the experience didn't suffer at all. Both food and service were top notch. Their signature margarita is one of the best I've had in a long time. I definitely recommend the spicy version. The tacos were amazing as always as were the chips, quac, black beans, rice, etc. This being my birthday week I treated myself to the churros and coffee. Delicious food, interesting payment method. I've never been to Bartaco before so my only experience has been with the new covid way of ordering. There are no longer servers, just food runners. You order your food on your phone and the food comes to your table when it's ready. It was an interesting concept that I didn't mind (especially since I've never been before so I didn't have anything else to compare it to), but I could see how it may be a challenge for those that are not super tech savvy. The food and drinks were DELISH! I had the house Margarita and 3 tacos - the fried avocado was my absolute favorite. 10/10 highly recommend. The reason I am knocking off a star is because a random $65.00 charge showed up on my bank account along with my charge. Had I not checked my back account I wouldn't have noticed. We've been here several times. We've tried most of the different tacos. I like all of them except the ribeye. The chips and salsa are also good. We've only tried one dessert, the tres leches, and it's great. Today it was super busy and it took a while to get our order. We never complained but our server took the tacos off the bill and only charged us for the drinks and chips. My family and I usually go to the Bartaco in Hyde Park, but when on a mini vacation in Orlando, we decided to see how similar the restaurants were. Verdict: pretty similar with a couple exceptions. First, the service was incredibly slow for how many patrons were there. We had arrived pre-dinner time and were seated immediately. In Tampa, there is almost always a wait, and the longer wait time to receive food is more understandable, because the place is packed. We had to flag down our waitress several times to ask where our food was and if we could have drink refills. In the end, two other servers brought us our food. Despite that, the food was excellently portioned and delicious. The pork belly was spectacular and actually superior to what I had eaten at the Tampa location at the time. (Now, Tampa has improved and is on par.) The atmosphere is very open at this location, and I think I prefer it over Hyde Park's. There is also plenty of parking, because the restaurant is in a shopping plaza. At Hyde Park, you'll almost always have to walk to the restaurant from one of the parking garages. In the end, I recommend this location for anyone who loves tacos and a boisterous atmosphere. Their adult drinks are very good, and all Bartaco locations press their own fresh juice for added goodness. Remember to fill out the survey, so you get a token for a free taco! read more

Waited almost an hour to get a table after the host told me it would only be a 20 min wait. It was 9:15pm when we arrived and were told that we would get a text message when our table was ready. At 10pm I went up to the host station and asked if they could check on a table for us. A waiter sat us down but had I not asked we would have been still waiting outside for the "text message" we never received. Unbelievable! Mind you it wasn't even full to say. Any how we were seated and the waiter quickly explained the new way of ordering the food and drinks. Everything was orders and placed through online. The service was ehh not good at all and the food was ok- nothing over the top. I love the ambience at bartaco you're surrounded by live plants and art work not to mention their chill sound track and low lighting. The service is always friendly and I have never had a problem ordering digitally (which is what you do here). However I did think that overall the food lacked finesse, I found I paid more for the same food I know I could get elsewhere for cheaper and actually made authentically. Made reservations/Called ahead for a friend birthday celebration. After speaking to the host on Wednesday I understood that they didn't take reservations...but you could call ahead to get a spot. Both were a bit of an epic fail with the amount of people I had in my party and "calling ahead"- Although they had my call ahead name in the system we didn't have a table for at least 1hr. I'm not sure it it was due to poor table management or National Margarita Day. I digress. It happens. I promise not to hold that against them. Once seated we were seated in the trendy short tables. They were cute. Rather than wait any longer we opted for the next available section were the tiny tables. We wanted to move but seeing as thought the wait was rather long we opted to sit. They cleaned a table off fast and gave me plenty of time to decorate. I appreciated that. Stephanie our server was the bomb. She was on point with knowledge of flavors and food options. You'll register your table with your name and then you're off to ordering. Whatever you like off the menu online. As you order your food arrives it's just that simple. We placed our first order which was a tamale, five tacos, and a side of grilled corn. Our friends got their tamale really quick. We waited close to 40 mins for our 5 small tacos and corn to come out. We noticed all the tables around us including a large group of 10 who all came after us got their food. Finally our food came out and it was cold and not worth the wait. Since we were still hungry we ordered a couple more tacos and a street corn fritter. Especially since the waiter said that "round 2" would come out much faster. So we looked at our watch and timed it. Our fritters came out quickly. Then there was the tacos. I don't know what it is but our tacos still took 30 mins to come out and they came back with less filling. They also placed all our tacos together on one tray even though we had to different order slips. I probably won't be coming back. I went to Bar Taco on Monday with 2 friends. It is a great local restaurant that I've been wanting to try for a while. I ordered 3 tacos- Baja fish, glazed pork belly and sesame ribeye with a side of street corn. My one friend gave me the tip to ask they cut the street corn off the cob making it easier to eat :) Out of the 3 tacos my favorite was the pork belly, it's not something you can get everywhere and the sweet Chile glaze and pickled red onion complimented the pork belly fabulously. The Baja fish taco was great, fish cooked well. The sesame ribeye was alright, not my favorite but glad I tried something new. It was my first time trying street corn and it was delicious! My friend got the spicy cucumber salad and it had the right hint of spice. I was very comfortable in their outdoor seating area. They are taking great Covid-19 pre-cautions which my friends and I appreciated. They are cash-less which is awesome! They made it very convenient for patrons to order and pay via the QR code provided on the tables with our phones. Tables were social distanced as well. I highly recommended bar taco. I was exposed to Bartaco with the Tampa location. I have been to the Bartaco - Orlando location about 3-4 times in the last 2 years (usually when I stay overnight in the area). This Bartaco location always disappoints, which I hate to say. The server was great, the greeters we welcoming, but the food is always the problem here. I ordered the pork belly tacos and duck tacos. Pork belly was burnt and the roasted duck tacos were dry (not sure how duck can be dry). Anyway, I want this location to be amazing like all the other ones I have been to (Bolder,CO, Denver,CO, Tampa, FL) but I don't think It can be. Here we as our experience: * Getting there was great- Jose greeted us and took us to our seat and explained how everything works. He was really friendly and funny. Downhill from here. * There is only ordering through the website. There's no service so we had to connect to wifi. Ours would not let us use our independent phones using the "someone else is paying" feature without each of us adding a credit card to the website. * At that point, we asked for help and a different girl (not Jose) came over and said she would add our order to one tab and left - never saw her again. * When I checked the tab on the phone I noticed she had put in "no onions" rather than "no cilantro" and I let them know * When the margaritas came out they were incorrectly made with Mezcal, not tequila (yuck!) they took them back and redid them and were normal after that * When the food came, the person who manually added our order had selected chicken instead of fish tacos and all the toppings came on the side since we had told them that it was supposed to be cilantro not onions....so added our own toppings and also just accepted the chicken tacos not wanting to wait again. * The manager stopped by and we let him know our experience. There was no apology for the inconvenience, the wrong margaritas, the incorrect food, just asked if things were fixed already and I said yes and he walked away. The food that came out correctly was good but every one (whether it said it or not) was spicy, including the guacamole. Needless to say, I won't be returning but wish Jose the best as he was the best part of the visit. read more

Bartaco is one of my favorite places for lunch in town I always get amazing service great food and I personally think it's very affordable place to eat most of the tacos are handheld tacos so they range from $3-$5 in price for lunch you can get three tacos and soup or salad for 10 bucks. All of their drinks are handcrafted and all of their juices are freshly pressed . i'm a huge fan of the mint tea my favorite taco is the pork belly the pro tip get it on lettuce instead of the flour tortilla. Always ask about the bartaco secret taco they have a new one each month and they're always fun to try. we came here while we waited for a near by restaurant for a snack and drinks. We ended up ordering 3 things to try. 3 different tacos - the glazed pork belly was amazing. So sweet yet savory and tasty? I'd have 10 of these!! The kimchi was also yummy. Very flavorful. I've never had duck and we ordered the duck birria tacos which were so yummy. I didn't even know it was duck. I would also have again. And my drink was the Oaxaca sunshine i think - delish. The only thing we found weird is that they didn't have any mezcal drinks besides a margarita but they promote mezcal tequila. Looking forward to trying more!! read more

Bar Taco has adjusted to the covid times very well by having you completely order your meal on your phone and the only human interaction is when the food is dropped off. Food is ordered on a sheet at the table and served on group platters, rather than individual plates and delivery. We started with the guac combo. Very good. Sized for two, maybe three. My wife and I ordered several different things off the menu. Fish tacos, falafel tacos and the new cauliflower taco was the bomb. A vegan can hang amongst the carnivores and feel at home here. I love the decor both inside and out and the food was delicious. Whoever decorated this space was clever. From the foliage that shelters the patio from the shopping center parking lot to the upscale interior. I loved it all. You walk in and see a very cool bar and comfortable space to sit. It is upscale but not pretentious. Each table has a caddie with menus, pencils, order slip like at a sushi restaurant and a plastic Bartaco card to call your sever. This was sort of explained by our hostess. The plastic card slipped out while I was putting the menus back and I stuck it on the clip at the top of the caddie and server appeared and asked what I needed. So the plastic card with the bartaco logo is the signal you need service. I had been wanting to try this restaurant and we had just left a store and we were only a little hungry. We ordered the small guacamole, pork belly taco, sesame ribeye taco and finally a rock shrimp taco. I loved the guacamole and next time would get a large because of the wonderful flavor. The chips are plentiful and were round similar to the size of a tostada. The tacos are street taco sized, like 3-4 bites and were very tasty. If I was really hungry for a normal meal this food would not been enough to split with two adults. I asked the waitress if the Ginger Mint tea was caffienated and she said it had agave. Since she did not seem willing to find out I ordered it anyway and was awake all night. My husband had the pomegranite lemonada and it was tart, beautiful and so refreshing. Our food came out quickly because it was the early dinner hour. I am taking off a star because although we got good service our server was not really friendly. After they cleared away the dishes the server and another person (Manager?) asked us a couple times if we needed anything. I felt was a way to turn the table because they were filling up and we were sitting there drinking and not eating. Also this is not an inexpensive meal. For the three tacos, guacamole and drinks it was $25 plus tip. I enjoyed our meal and look forward to dining there because there are a lot of menu items that I want to try (corn on the cob, duck quesadilla.) I liked that they had a wide variety like salads, and other items that were not necessarily tacos. I've been coming here for a year and I always have a wonderful experience! Im a big fan of their rice bowls (especially the pork belly one, tip: they come with raw veggies, ask for them sautéed and I promise you won't regret it!). The plantains are cooked to perfection (crispy and ripe), the gelato for dessert is delicious and creamy and the freshly made/squeezed fruit juices are perfect for summer!
