Over an hour wait. Bar was packed, service was quick, but man oh man god forbid you want to have a conversation. The music was unbearably loud but there was no space to dance. Loud music = dancing, no dancing space = music at all bearable level. Tacos were made like a no sabo's child ran that kitchen. Silver wear and napkins are in a tin container on the table. Very bad and extremely disorganized experience. We waited 45 minutes just to be seated, and then another 45 minutes to receive the mini tacos and guacamole. The guacamole was a complete disappointment--no flavor at all, basically just mashed avocado served as-is after a very long wait. The only thing that came out quickly were the tiny mini quesadillas, which says a lot about the kitchen. If you're looking for real Mexican food, this is not the place. Inconsistent experience. We first went on a Monday night and waited two hours for a table for six, even though we'd been added to the waitlist 30 minutes before arriving. They couldn't give us an estimated wait time, which was odd, so we sat at the bar. By the time they told us our table was ready, we were already on dessert. They offered a gift card to make it up to us, but our return visit wasn't much better. Service was slow and disorganized -- we had to follow up multiple times, and our waitress didn't seem to take ownership of our order. My date's tacos came out quickly, but mine arrived 20 minutes later, we also had to follow up on the kimchi and one extra taco we ordered never showed up. Even the margaritas were inconsistent -- one was way too strong, the next had no alcohol at all. They had to take one back because they didn't make it spicy like we ordered. This was our second visit and it was another great experience. Our last visit we sat at the bar and this time we grabbed a table in the bar area. Quick service with a wonderful explanation of the use of the QR code to place our order. It was super easy and the drinks were quickly delivered with our food arriving shortly after. I will say if you're with a big group each drink does take a while to made because everything is juiced on the spot, so keep that in mind for wait times. For some reason they don't put table numbers on the checks so the staff asked us at least 3 times if what they brought out was our order, which it wasn't. Possibly the best salsa and guacamole I've ever had? Wow, did I just say that? Bartaco has got it going on. It's certainly a high-energy environment packed with people, loud music, and tasty food. Not only is the service top-notch, but they've made ordering food and beverage quite innovative yet simple. Luckily, the bar is constantly turning over customers so if you're a little patient, chances are you'll be able to find a seat there with no problem. As for a table, you'll definitely want to look into reservations. What I really like is how the staff explains how it all works to you--and there's nothing I appreciate more than someone managing my expectations and taking the guesswork out of a dining experience which, after all, should be relaxed and enjoyable. They have a paper and pencil system where you can mark what you want and much you want on their menu. Should you need anything else before a server gets to you (which doesn't happen often, as they are checking on you often), you simply put one of their cards in a center-piece thingy (yes, thingy) and someone will come to you fairly quickly. Now for the food--I'll admit...if you put chips and salsa in front of me, I'm going to go to town even if it's not that great. But these chips and salsas are actually great. No, I didn't take a picture because I attacked them as soon as they got there but they have the right texture, are full of flavor, and just the right amount of heat. The one in the grove is amazing located and has an awesome atmosphere!
