Pros: Parking lot without a need to validate, wide open lobby, some of the instructors from the other westside / LA studios Mehs: Lockers were super tight, red room was small/ like Brentwood size, far if you live in samo or other west la areas All said, if you have the time or want to take a class with your favorite instructors, this is another solid spot. LOVE Barry's. The facilities are always extremely clean. The workout (what's most important) is also excellent. The ambiance in the red room is like no other. Love this Barry's location so much! I've been to many and this is my favorite. It's a bit smaller than some other ones and only has 4 double floor spots but the instructors here are amazing-- my faves are Haley, Andrew, Drew, and Steffan! Classes go by fast because the instructors make it fun! Seriously, Andrew's playlist really gets me in the best mood! The studio is clean and is always stocked with Oribe products which I love! As much as I love this location and the instructors, I do have a few complaints. First off, some the people who work the front desk can be kind of stand-offish. They used to have this guy, Josh, who was always a ray of sunshine whenever I came in and he was so beyond helpful whenever I had questions (I don't think he works here anymore). The other people don't seem to want to be bothered if you need help so I try to be as self-sufficient as possible. My 2nd complaint is that one time after class, I asked for a shake. But the person at the front told me they do pre-order only so they couldn't make me one. This is weird because I've def been able to order shakes after finishing a class before at diff locations without any issues so not sure what that's about. My last complaint is the front desk forces you to check-in with them upon entering even if you've checked in on the app. This really makes no sense to me and is a complete waste of time, but okay ‍ Anyway, I know I had quite a bit of complaints but I would recommend Barry's! Nothing compares to a Barry's workout there's a reason why they call it "The best workout in the world!" I've been to many gyms and studios around the South Bay and the instructors here just know their sh*t! My faves are Alicia, Andrew, Drew, and Haley. Definitely challenging but with options to modify or take it in levels. I'm not a runner so I usually try to get a Double Floor spot to which there are only 4, so make sure you sign up early! The studio itself is always clean, including the bathrooms / showers. And they stock Oribe products! There's also lockers in the hall as well as the restrooms. As some other reviews have mentioned sometimes it almost seems like people working the front desk are annoyed.. I try to check in through the app ahead of time. Customer service through email though has always been great. This studio does a lot of theme classes, events, and giveaways which is fun. Oh and there is a fuel bar for your after workout shake! My only only thing is that it's SO costly! I can't justify the membership. I try to buy a package when they have deals, generally in the summer and around the holidays. Overall I'd say if you're thinking about it - DO IT!!! read more

It's always great to see and feel the energy of the instructors during every class. South Bay Barry's recently celebrated their 5 year anniversary with a variety of different events throughout the week. I came to a class on a Saturday morning that was led by Drew and Andrew. I absolutely loved their energy because the AC was broken in the red room and everyone still managed to survive the work out. They had several raffles take place during the class and it was a fun way to celebrate their 5 year anniversary! read more

High-energy, intense workout. Booked a class with Steffan C for an arms, chest, and back evening workout. They're 50 minutes long, and for the first class, you may want to arrive 15 minutes earlier so the front desk can take you through the class format. There's a fuel bar where you can get smoothies (you must pre-order). The bathrooms have personal-use day lockers and showers available. They have gum, hair ties, and ear plugs at the front desk. You alternate between treadmills and strength workouts. It's a high intensity workout, but you are able to customize the intensity to your level of fitness (though you should definitely push yourself). Steffan was very energetic and the music adds greatly to the vibe. You're there primarily to get a great workout, and the class delivers exactly that. read more

Alicia A is the only instructor I've liked so far out of the classes I've taken so far (not many). As a trainer and instructor at another company, it's SO important to make sure you're explaining things in a way that is easy to understand. While I know correct form etc, it was really helpful to see Alicia demonstrate what things should look like. In the past, I've found that instructors at Barry's are so quick to tell you the clock started without fully flushing out what were actually doing. Anyways, I'll be back! Great facility. Everything was very clean and well maintained. They have all the little things you might need: hair ties, ear plugs, clean rolled up towels, equipment sanitizing wipes, dyson blow dryers, showers, lockers with lock codes, a juice bar and their brand's merchandise. The gym is conveniently located in a shopping mall so you can grab a bite after your workout. Parking was convenient. I just took a class with Stef and was impressed with how she led the class. After all the running I have been doing outdoors and pushing myself, I decided to change up my routine and try something new. I already had a friend who recommended Barrys and said why not? I knew it was HIIT style workout with running included and I was a bit intimidated at first. Barry's doesn't offer a first time free class but they do offer a one time first timer bundle of 3 classes for a good price. After that, you're stuck at $30/class or going for a package that reduces the per class cost. ClassPass also has Barry's as an option to use your credits but they're high value! The front desk has the most helpful and friendly staff - they will help you out with anything you need. The app is really user friendly too. Choose your day and time, then select either to start on the floor or a tread. I went into my first class a couple of months ago, alone and after a long day of work, but wow - I was HOOKED. I didn't think I could sweat so hard and not even realize how quickly the time went by! I just did 50 minutes of HIIT and intense running. My favorite thing about Barrys is that - yes, it is a bootcamp style workout, but they aren't yelling AT you. They encourage you to run at certain speeds and do an insane amount of reps, but if you are more comfortable at a lower speed on the tread and maybe do a lower amount of reps, THAT'S OKAY! It's your workout and you are in control. Each instructor is different even if you know the theme of the day. They each have their own way of amping you up, different tastes in music and if they like to turn the fans on or not, lol! I have worked out with Sean, Alicia, Stef, Andrew and Nick! I really love Sean's music and witty personality - he always makes me laugh during my workout. Alicia is kick ass and takes no prisoners. Stef murders my body and I'm always grateful. Andrew is a beast and really appreciates his early morning risers on Saturdays. There's without a doubt that I will walk out of that class with drenched hair and a tomato face. I love the cold towels after the class, such a nice touch and very refreshing! You can order a smoothie at the fuel bar either before your class so it's ready once you're done or just after class. They use quality ingredients (choice of pea protein or whey) and I love the chocolate mint one! Yummy! So grab a towel and try Barry's! You won't regret it. read more

I'm a huge Barry's fan, and since there's currently not a BB location in Phoenix, I make an effort to take classes whenever I travel somewhere that it is an option. Hence, my recent visit to this (El Segundo) location. On a recent long weekend to the area, my husband and I motivated to take classes... 2 each. I took one from Nate and one from Sean (+ a live DJ). My husband took the Sean/live DJ class with me and he took one that Alicia instructed. We both loved them all... kick ass workouts, friendly staff, clean facility, fuel bar, amenities, etc... While we were there, Barry's was celebrating their recent collaboration with lululemon, and they happened to offer some food from nearby Tocaya post workout as well. Nice bonus! I know that Barry's prides itself on being super community oriented, and this location really feels like it more so than any others I've been to. Needless to say, we're hooked. Now, we just need you to open a BB location near us in Phoenix! Until then, however, we'll keep taking classes when we travel. See you in the red room :) read more

Updated after 60 classes! I love Barry's! I am not a runner, and was nervous before my first sesh, but it turned out that there was no need to be worried. The instructors give out 3 possible speeds, beginner-intermediate-advanced. At first, I couldn't even keep up with the beginner speeds, but after attending multiple classes, I can see an improvement in my performance. My favorite instructors are: *Andrew K. because he breaks down the 50 minutes into 3 rounds, instead of the usual 2 rounds. Having 3 rounds makes it more manageable for me to make progress as someone who doesn't love to run. He plays trance music during the workout, and rap at the end. Love it! *Alicia A. She's a badass and she always kicks my booty. She does two rounds, and I leave feeling like I had a good ass kickin. I especially like her ab workouts! Shoutout to Alicia for spending time taking with me after class, making recommendations on my diet and how I can continue to improve. I love the 1:1 time she is willing to put in with her Barry's clients. The facility is clean, the front desk staff are nice, and I look forward to my cold citrus washcloth at the end of the workout. I have been coming to Barrys South Bay for about 3 years now and have loved every minute of it! Andrew Key and Alex S. are my two favorite instructors! They have great energy, great music, hard workouts, and never make you feel less than for only lifting a certain amount of weight or only running at a certain speed! They really push you to your max without making you feel bad for doing less than what they call out! They both say hi and are personable when you walk in the door and it truly makes me feel like im at home :) LOVEEEEE barrys so much! My favorite place to be 3 days a week. The staff is like family. The place is immaculate. When you arrive the energy hit you right away...even after a bad day, once you check in (everyone literally knows your name) you are ready to conquer that tough but fun workout! June 22, 2019 was such a turning point for me this year. It was my first Barry's class. My friend from Miami recommended I find one in my area and low and behold the closest one to me was Barry's South Bay. Not knowing what I was to expect I showed up and was greeted by friendly, welcoming staff who helped me fill out some forms and got me started on to kick some ass with my first Barry's instructor Alicia. Flash forward to about 3 months and 6o classes later!! I fell in love with Barry's. I am down 4 sizes and feel overwhelming proud of the progress I have made. I cannot leave a review without mentioning my two favorite instructors, Alicia and Sean! They are the best! I strongly recommend you take each of their classes. They are so different but so much fun and your BODY WILL THANK YOU FOR TAKING THEIR CLASS. Alicia, my amazon, beautiful instructor, - she is the true definition of what an instructor should be. Motivating, patient but makes you want to keep going and push yourself and hit higher goals one class at a time. She constantly reminds us that it doesn't get easier we just get stronger! She plays the edm jams and for sure smooth transitions between the tread and floor. I take her classes about 4 times a weeks and I never walk out disappointed. Thank you Alicia for assuring me I can do this! You're the best! Sean/ my double floor man! I take his clases along with Alicia's about 3-4 times a weeks. His classes are fun and he's super energetic. He makes sure we don't skip a beat and pushes us not to give up even when you feel like dying. Omg you guys. This is probably the most beautiful looking Barry's here in LA. It's in a great location, and best of all - PLENTY OF PARKING. Plenty of lockers and showers, it's almost impossible to have a line for the showers. There's no using the men's showers here like I do in Irvine lol. Came on their opening day and took a class with Joey. Just like with the other locations, you get what you pay for - quality workouts, equipment, alongside with encouraging instructors who push you to face yourself. You can input your own unique code when you choose an available locker. --WORKOUT-- AMAZING. SWEATY. CHALLENGING. +4 rounds of circuits- half treadmill and half floor workout! +Cool down stretching session afterwards. Treadmills- using speed and incline to push you Floor workout- may use different equipment, such as weights and steps You are assigned a numbered station and swap after every circuit to your appropriate station. If you are injured, limited, or any other reason, you are definitely allowed to do only treadmill or only floor work! Do what is right for your body! You don't have to sprint at the speed the instructor says, for instance. You do what's right for YOU. It is a safe space to challenge yourself, work on yourself, and listen to your body. This place is just too good! I love the vibe of this location. To me it feels more chill, compared to some of the other locations. First, the service is so amazing! Staff is consistently very friendly and helpful with welcoming you in and getting you settled. The classes are very challenging. You'll feel inspired, exhausted, and accomplished, all wrapped into one.. All the instructors I've had across locations, have been incredible. Based on time of day I take classes @ South Bay, I'm usually with Sean or Alicia, who are both FANTASTIC. If you're a fan of amenities (I'm new to LA, but am learning gym "amenities" are a "thing" here), this place has Oribe skin care and hair products in the locker rooms, cool towels (I think with Eucalyptus?) after you come out of class, and a really good smoothie bar (Skinny B*tch is my favorite). Get a membership or take a friend and come to class. You'll leave on such a good endorphin high. read more

The South Bay studio was overall a great experience. My friends have always raved about it so I decided to give a try with a few of them. I was greeted right when walking in and spoke to a tall blonde guy who helped explain what my workout is gonna look like and gave me a quick rundown of studio and locker situation which made me feel a lot more comfortable with workout. Such a well-run Barry's! I recently started taking classes here and love how friendly, welcoming, and helpful the front desk people are. The trainers are also awesome, and I always get a good workout. My favorite instructors are Stef C. (seriously has the best energy and a no bs attitude) and Andrew K.
